Investment / Don’t Fall Victim: Here Are 4 Easy And Sure Ways To Identify Fake Naira Notes by amebofamily: 12:02pm On Dec 15, 2016
FAKE NAIRA NOTE - If you do not want to fall victim to fraudsters who deceive people with fake naira notes, then you must read this tips carefully.

The fact is that con men cannot produce a real naira note. Yes That’s a fact. Even if they can, they can’t
produce real note without bloating overhead cost.

In view of this, there is always obvious differences between a real naira note and it’s counterfeit. These differences are not hidden; they are there only if you look well enough, even for an untrained eye.

You should also avail yourself of the fact that the use of counterfeits is punishable under the Nigerian constitution whether you’re aware or note because “ignorance is not an excuse in the court of law”.

Taking advantage of the marked differences between real and counterfeit naira notes, I’m going to list ways you can identity counterfeits.

1. Check Using Mercury Bulbs

In the real paper naira notes (N100, N200, N500, N1000), they are some texts that are not visible to the Unclad eye; they are only visible through the rays from a mercury bulb. So, to verify the authenticity of a naira note, bring the said note in contact with rays from a mercury bulb. If it is real, you will see a greenish-yellow
glow of the note’s denomination across it. For example if it is a 1,000 naira note, you will see a glowing 1000 (in numbers) written across the note and smaller 1000 written on specific spots on it.

The same goes for other paper Naira denominations.
If the money is in a stack or bundle and you want to test for counterfeits, arrange the monies (it should be the same denomination all-through) properly (i.e. the front of each note in the bundle in contact with the back of the next note and top to top and bottom to bottom) and subject a side of it to rays from the
mercury lamp, the greenish-yellow glow should be visible on the first and last note in the bundle if no counterfeit(s) is hiding in it.

In either the single note and the bundle (if properly
arranged), absence of this greenish-yellow glow means the note or a note in the bundle is fake.

Sorry, I could not get you the picture but the glow is very visible. Make sure to switch-off other light sources so as not to hamper the result. While mercury bulb is available at shops where electrical materials are sold, this method is preferable for business owners or people who handle bulk cash like bankers e.t.c

2. Through Water Or Other Liquids

The colours used in printing counterfeits are soluble in water and some other liquids while that of real money is not.

Wet the suspected money or a part of it with little water or any other liquid ( I have only tried water and petrol) and scrub the wet part with your thumb.

Counterfeits will wash-off their colours as you do this but real will not. Do you notice the way the colours of an artwork painted with water-colours wash-off when water touches it?

That’s the kind of wash-off I mean.

3. Detect Using Ribbons

On every Naira note, there is a thin silvery ribbon running from the top to the bottom of the note; it is like a rope on old notes.

In real note, you can feel and even pull-out this ribbon on some old notes.

However, in counterfeits, there’s something
that looks like a ribbon but it’s not—just paint.

Try scratching that ribbon, it come off like the silver panel on a recharge cards. Hope you get?

4. Detect by Feeling It With Your Palms

While counterfeits are made of ordinary papers, real money is made of a special kind of paper.

Feeling the paper-quality of counterfeits, you will find out that it is just like that of common paper found on the street.

The colours of counterfeits also betrays it. The drawings on counterfeits are more blurry, blotchy and sometimes more darker than real
paper money.

Of the four methods listed above, the first,
second and third is more reliable.

Any question?

DONALD TRUMP: The leader of the jihadist group Boko Haram has reacted to the election of Donald Trump to the White House with a warning that "the war has just begun" against the West.

According to http://www.mediagists..com, Abubakar Shekau said in an audio message posted on YouTube on Monday.

"Do not be overwhelmed by people like Donald Trump and the global coalition fighting our brethren in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and everywhere,"

"We remain steadfast on our faith and we will not stop," he said in the hour-long message. "To us, the war has just begun,AFP reports
"We are done with Obama, now we're going to start with Trump. We remain steadfast by our faith and we will not stop. For us, the war has just begun."he said in Hausa
The IS high command said in August that Shekau had been replaced as leader by Abu Musab al-Barnawi, the 22-year-old son of Boko Haram's founder Mohammed Yusuf.

Shekau claims he is still in charge, however, as rival factions vie for control.

Crime / BIZZAIRE!!! Woman Gives Birth To A Snake-like Creature (photos) by amebofamily: 12:13pm On Apr 23, 2016
A woman has left her community in shock as many people troop to her house after news broke that she gave birth to a snake-like creature.

A woman from Giyani in Limpopo gave birth to a snake-like creature, Mzansi online reports.
It was gathered that the weird incident took place in the Giyani town of South Africa. According to neighbours, the 37-year-old woman and her family are still puzzled with the mysterious thing that happened to her.
The woman identified as Avhapfani said she started feeling sick sometime in October last year and would continuously vomit. Her husband, who works in Rustenburg encouraged her to take a pregnancy test of which it came back negative.
In April, Avhapfani’s stomach started to swell as if she was in her last pregnancy trimester. She went to doctors for scans who claimed she needed to go several procedures before they would determine what was wrong with her.

However, the woman woke up one day in severe pain as if she was in labour and her family took her to the doctor’s who could not do anything at that time. In distress, they took her to a local sangoma who then told them she had to remove the thing that was inside her. It was during the process that a midwife forced her to give birth and undergo labor. To their surprise, a creature that looks like a snake with two teeth of came out of her. Stunned and in shock, her mother quickly stabbed the creature and lit it on fire. The woman is now recovering from the shocking incident.

Crime / I Raped My Best Friend's Daughter Because I Don't Have Money To Pay Prostitutes by amebofamily: 12:03pm On Apr 23, 2016
He bowed in shame and self pity when approached, burying his face in his palms. When asked what brought him to the Lagos State Police Command , he burst into tears, still refusing to lift his face.

After waiting endlessly for his response, he slowly lifted his head, with tears trickling down his cheeks. He spoke in an inaudible voice saying, “The devil pushed me to rape my late friend’s daughter.”

Thirty-two year-old Nurudeen Oriyomi was arrested for allegedly defiling his late friend’s 12-year-old daughter at Alhaji Yinusa street, Bariga, Lagos. The act took place in his one-room apartment at
about 2pm on April 9, 2016, while the girl was sent on an errand.

Information at Crime Guard’s disposal had it that Oriyomi and the father of the primary five pupil were friends before the latter’s demise two years ago. Since then, Oriyomi had reportedly been close to the family.

However, the relationship took a sinister dimension penultimate Thursday, after Oriyomi allegedly defiled the eldest child. The suspect, as gathered, stood in front of his house when he sighted the 12-year-old girl ( name withheld) passing-by. He called her and asked where she was going, before inviting her inside, pretending to send her on an errand. He ended up defiling her.

But the burble burst five days later, after the girl’s mother noticed she was walking with difficulty. She reportedly ignored her initially, apparently thinking she could have sustained the injury while playing. But she was attracted to the blood stain on her daughter’s pant when she sat opposite her to relate activities of the day.

Apparently thinking she had started observing her monthly menstrual flow, she curiously asked her daughter, who revealed to her dismay, after much persuasion, that she was raped by ‘brother’ Nurudeen as he was popularly addressed.

The primary school pupil further told her mother that she wanted to shout during the act but Oriyomi gagged her and after that, gave her N50, with a stern warning not to disclose what happened to anyone.

Unable to believe what she has just heard, the widow intimated a neighbor who insisted that Oriyomi must be accosted . He was said to have owned up and begged passionately to be forgiven. But the case was reported at Bariga division , consequent upon which he was arrested. The case was later transferred to the gender Unit, Lagos state Police Command where operatives swung into action by taking the victim to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where a test conducted confirmed that her hymen had been broken .

Oriyomi was paraded among other alleged suspected criminals terrorizing Lagos State. In this interview with Crime Guard, he blamed his indulgence on the devil and hardship which he said made him unable to get money to patronize commercial sex workers. Hear him;
“ I am a visitor here because I raped my friend’s daughter. I was actually sex- starved and was looking for every available means to ease myself. Before now, I used to patronize commercial sex workers any time I had such urge. But on this day, I had no money to pay them (commercial sex worker) or to buy condom.

I was just outside contemplating on what to do when I sighted her. I called her inside, asked her to pull her dress while I pulled her pant and had carnal knowledge of her. When her mother came, I admitted and begged her to forgive me but I never knew she did not forgive me,” stated the suspect from Ilorin, Kwara state.

The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, disclosed that the 12 year-old girl was traumatized and was being medically treated at Mirabel Medical Centre, Ikeja.

Politics / APC Loosing 2019 Presidential Election Scares Me Alot - Buhari by amebofamily: 11:24am On Mar 26, 2016
This is the full text of President Muhammadu Buhari’s address at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, March 24, 2016.

PROTOCOLS:
We are members of the legacy party, plus APGA and DPP. We realized since 2005 that to remove the PDP from power, we must sink our differences, come together and form a party. God willing, that eventually happened and that is why we are where we are today, coming together inspite of our differences, both personal and ideological. We must not forget that. Having identified that as members of the legacy party, we again identified three fundamental things facing us. First, security, second, economy and unemployment and thirdly, corruption.
We campaigned throughout the country on these three fundamental issues and nobody successfully challenged us and these issues remained relevant. On security, we have made progress. It was a very courageous decision that the party took and executed by the Executive by removing most of the military hierarchy and appointing those to take over from them, acquiring some new hard and soft ware and raising the morale of the military to go secure the rest of the country which was then 14 out of 774 local government.

I have said it often that as far as I know and the service Chiefs who are on ground, they are not holding any local government. But they still have some capability especially on soft targets by using technology. For Niger Delta, the militants are sending some conflicting messages. Some have said they are ready to drop their arms and join the rest of the nation to build it. But part of them are still sabotaging installations which is making investments in that lucrative area of Nigeria difficult because nobody will submit his riches to financial institutions, get money only to suffer huge loss. So, the environment for investment is being sabotaged by our own selves, Nigerians.
We are doing our best with the military by trying to persuade them to join the rest of the country because in unity lies our strength. Of course the leadership of INEC has been changed, but I appeal to the leadership of the military, security agents and INEC that what I want Nigerians to remember me for, even if I have to leave the Presidency tomorrow is that I respect them. I want all Nigerians to believe and hold their PVC as personal entitlement as Nigerians and use it the way the like, and vote for whoever they like at which ever election.
If they voluntarily sold it, it is part of their right and so, let them sell it and remain at home and not participate in any election. But let the law enforcement agencies give them the confidence that nobody will come out who has money to hire thugs, give them drugs and stop them from exercising their fundamental right.

I am afraid I did not succeed in the election in Kogi, Bayelsa, Rivers. I think that more Nigerians are killed or killed themselves in Rivers than in any particular state. At this stage of our political development, to remain brutal is shameful and as a government, I promise we will do something by the next general election.
On the economy, the fall of oil prices after Nigeria has made itself a mono economy is a disaster. I wonder why people could not believe that in Nigeria, about 27 out of 36 states have difficulty in paying basic salaries of their workers. If from 1999 to at least 2003, oil is above 100 dollars per barrel and an export of about 2 million barrel per day, how come Nigeria failed to make some arrangement to cushion the effect of a probably volatile oil market? Again, it show failure of the last administration. But we are now to pick the pieces as an APC government and so, there is no need complaining, but let us concentrate and see how much we can do with whatever remains of the economy. We realized that agriculture and solid minerals are two areas that can quickly come to help us to recover economically, at least in terms of employment and feeding ourselves and more importantly, saving the hard currency to make sure that what is left our industries remain open, employing Nigerians and producing goods and services which is very important. The policy we are trying to implement is TSA. When we insist that we have to know what comes in and what goes out for us to make a comprehensive amendment to the economy. If you go and see the Central Bank Governor, he will tell you that in the TSA, we have more than N3 trillion.
Where would this money have been if TSA was not in vogue? I was made to understand that vouchers would have quickly been raised towards the end of the financial year and checks made. Whether they are going into projects or private pockets, nobody can prove it to you. But that money is there, it is identified, if is quantified and when the budget comes back eventually, the Ministry of finance will see how to allocate it to the rest of the country. We have tried to make sure that NNPC is reorganized, so that we know how much of our crude is taken, how much it is sold and to which account the money is going. But I tell you that up to the time we came, if anybody told you that he knows how much of crude exchanges hands either on the high sea or reaching their destination and the accounts the money goes into, that person is not telling you the truth. We are getting the cooperation of countries that has received this crude. But we have to be sure of the facts in our hands before we start prosecution so that Nigerians will believe what we have been telling them. Again, I have to repeat myself here for you to appreciate what I am going through because you are closer to the people than myself. I was telling a British team that came to supervise the training team they sent, that when I was in uniform, you took the perceived corrupt ones and put them in safe custody and quietly told them they were guilty until they can prove themselves innocent.
But now under multi-party democratic system, I see some of them ride Rolls Royce, some of them have built estates here, but they are innocent until we can prove them guilty. This situation is true and you don’t need to stress your imagination to find out. If you can find out, you discover that a level eight officer has five houses, while you, as a Permanent Secretary or Commissioner is still living in a rented house. We have to get credible evidence to carry out successful prosecution and get judgement from the Judiciary. But effort is being made to give a list of recoveries in whatever currencies so far so that Nigerians will know that it is not all about long stories. For the party, I will like you to continue to make sacrifice. I know you are being harassed since the election that they haven’t seen anything on the ground.
Well, if you have any explanation that could be accepted, is that you have three more years to go. When we came in after 16 years of PDP, each government had 42 ministries. We reduced them to 24, removed 21 Permanent Secretaries. We sat down and reflected seriously. We were all in the process of taking over at a time of national budget. So, imagine the volume of work and with what happened in the National Assembly, the padding, it would appear that below the Permanent Secretaries, there are still a lot of bureaucracies that are still with them. So, you have to appreciate the position we are in.
Having cut 42 to 24, correspondingly, the parastatals will be cut down to some size and realigned and the boards reconstituted. We gave a blanket order which we had to rescind when we said all boards are suspended or dissolved. We had to go back and lick our vomit in terms of university boards because we found out that according to their laws, they cannot choose Vice Chancellors unless the Boards seat down, interview prospective candidates who wants to be VCs. So, there is nothing wrong in saying sorry and going back on your decision. So, we said sorry and allow all the universities to continue with their boards. But for the rest, eventually, we will make it.
So, please, try to bear with us as we reflect on where we found ourselves. For globetrotting, sometimes, you need to present your case on personal basis to your economic colleagues and neighbors. Nothing is better than personal touch and I believe that we are learning a lot and eventually, the nation will realize so, I don’t envy you on the harassment you are going through from your constituencies. Take it with a lot of determination and we will be all right, God willing.

Celebrities / I Will Like To Date Chidinma Or Yemi Alade - Falz by amebofamily: 10:02am On Mar 24, 2016
Falana, is a trained lawyer, who was born and bred in Lagos, schooled in Osun State before he traveled out of the shores of Nigeria to pursue a Law degree in the United Kingdom (UK), in an interview with our reporter, he spoke on his AMVCA award, his acting career, his love for colleagues Chidinma and Yemi Alade.

Read the full interview below:

How do you feel winning your first award as an actor?

I feel so grateful to God Almighty, my family, fans and most especially Funke Akindele, CEO Scene One Production for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent, believe me sincerely, I never believed I could win because the category for the Best act in a comedy, movie or TV series was a keen one because other people in the category are talented and have been in the field before me.

With winning your first Africa Magic Viewer’s choice Award, are you going to consider taking acting fully?

If the roles keep coming, I will definitely act, I can’t leave my music. I can only combine both together and make things work out without disturbing each other. I am positive that more awards will come before the end of the year.

As a graduate of Law and a qualified Barrister, what inspired you to drop law for music?

It’s a matter of passion. It’s not that I don’t like the legal profession, law is a wonderful and prestigious profession but I am also somebody that if I follow that line, I will still be successful because there is brain upstairs a lot up there.

But I so much love write or record songs and also performing on stage because it gives me maximum satisfaction and there is no way i will not follow my heart. That is why I am here today.

Are you into a relationship?

I want to keep that one aside for now because relationship can be distraction. When somebody loves a woman so much he abandons his work and every other thing besides, I don’t want that to be my story. I am still single and I don’t have anybody.

If you had the opportunity to date any Nigerian celebrity, who would it be?

Maybe Chidinma or Yemi Alade, please don’t forget these are beautiful ladies and I will like to date them.

Politics / Justice, Rewards, And Punishment - By Ifeanyi John Obidike by amebofamily: 2:36am On Nov 14, 2015
Hello readers, my name is Ifeanyi John Obi dike, today am going to be discussing on a vital issue as long as human is concern and the issue am going to be hammering on today is justice,it's reward and punishment.

You see, sometimes during my quiet times I begin to ask my self questions like " why are bad people in our society not immediately punished for the bad things they do by God himself?" and I also noticed that their punishment is slow to come. And because of these, it easily makes other people want to do bad things too.

A sinner might do a hundred evil things. And he might have long life. But I know that it is still better to obey and respect God. Evil people do not respect God, so those people will not really get good things . Those evil people will not live long lives.

Also, there is something else that happens on earth that I think it does not seem fair. And what is that?

I think life will be more fair if bad things happen to bad people and good things happens to good people. But instead reverse is the case in the sense that sometimes bad things happens to good people and good things happens to bad people. That is not fair. So I decided it was more important to enjoy life. Why? Because the best thing people can do in this life is to eat, drink and enjoy life. At least that will help people enjoy the hard work God gave them to do during their life on earth.

Kindly note: While at the cause of enjoying yourself always remember that there is a God in heaven and all are VANITY!

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.

Politics / Olusegun Obasanjo Spits Fire Over Pro-biafran Agitators by amebofamily: 10:08am On Oct 30, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described pro-Biafra agitators as miscreants who should be ignored.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with our correspondents at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, on Wednesday, Obasanjo described the agitations by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra and other self-determination groups as misplaced.

According to Obasanjo, equating the agitations by pro-Biafra groups with the agitations that led to the Civil War amounted to making a mountain out of a molehill.

He said, “This is a fake agitation. You people make a mountain out of a molehill. These are boys who want to take people unaware and get money out of them in the name of Biafra. These are the people you should ignore, I don’t talk about Biafra. (Philip) Effiong came and said Biafra ceased to exist and since that day, Biafra has ceased to exist.”

It will be recalled that the Biafra leader as of the time the war ended, Philip Effiong, surrendered to Obasanjo by calling off the war.

Obasanjo said that in the spirit of “No victor, no vanquished,” the Nigerian nation absorbed Igbo people into the civil service and the military after the war, adding that there were no promises made to the then secessionists that the Nigerian state had not fulfilled.

He said, “We absorbed those we should absorb both into the civil service and into the military. Even those we didn’t absorb, who we initially regarded as being retired without benefits, later on we even gave them their benefits. Abandoned houses were returned. Within 10 years of the end of our Civil War, an Igbo man became the vice-president of our country.

“It took the Americans 100 years before they got to that point. So, what are you talking about? They have held all the ministerial positions existing in this country. We have Igbo as the Governor of Central Bank, Igbo has headed many parastatals in this country.

“That’s why these miscreants should be ignored. They want to get money and they go round and say, ‘We are still being victimised. We are still being treated badly in Nigeria,’ so that they can take money from people.”

Absolving Igbo leaders of complicity in the agitation, Obasanjo said they (Igbo leaders) were not in support of the agitation.

“I won’t blame the Igbo leaders. I will ignore them (the agitators). Igbo leaders that I’ve talked about, I mean the ones I’ve mentioned; Joe Irukwu won’t go out and do that type of thing, and many of them. The people who are doing this are the same people you will find in 419 business, they are the same people you will find in drugs all over the world. To them, this is another source of money for them as far as they are concerned,” Obasanjo said.

When asked his comment about a new book, InterInterventions, by Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, in which the laureate called him a child of circumstance, Obasanjo said, “Did he? I’ve not heard anything like that,” with a wave of hand.

Although he said an end would not be put to Boko Haram by the military, Obasanjo said it was necessary that President Muhammadu Buhari gave the military a target.

He said, “You have to have an objective, otherwise, if you say go and don’t have an objective, that’s not good enough for a leader but an objective is not cast in concrete. Look, I want you to finish a job in two days, though you know it could take probably four or five days, but you must give an objective.

“I believe that what President Muhammadu Buhari will get, and which he knows he can get, is that he can get the upper hand; the military will get the upper hand over Boko Haram and of course, I think we are working towards that. But we will not get the end of Boko Haram in three months or in six months.

“And even when you get the upper hand militarily, you have to do what you have to do – the socio-economic aspect.”

Politics / Igbo’s Endless Struggle For Presidency by amebofamily: 10:33am On Oct 27, 2015
In this piece, ENIOLA AKINKUOTU looks at the struggle by the South-East to rule the country

When in December 2002, the leader of the defunct Biafra Republic, the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, declared that the South-East would produce the President of Nigeria in 2003, the Igbo nation rejoiced based on the hope that Nigerians would put the civil war behind them and vote for an Igbo president.

“It is time for an Igbo presidency, we have been cheated long enough, whoever says the Igbo nation will not rule the country in the forthcoming general election is making a great mistake,” Ojukwu had said.

To this end, a former Vice-President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, joined the presidential race on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but was roundly defeated by the then incumbent President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was gunning for a second term in office.

Months later, Ojukwu founded the All Progressive Grand Alliance and joined the presidential race but only got 1.48 per cent of the total votes cast. In 2007, Ojukwu contested again but got only 0.44 per cent of votes. In both elections, Ojukwu’s votes only came from the South-East. In fact, in Bayelsa State, he got only three votes.

Interestingly, in both elections, Ojukwu did not defeat the ruling PDP in the South-East, his area of strength.

But in 2014, the Igbo endorsed former President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP during the last general election and supported him through and through. Jonathan, who is from the Ijaw ethnic group in Bayelsa State, got more than 75 per cent of the total votes cast in the South-East.

With Jonathan’s ultimate defeat in the more populated North and the South-West, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress emerged the winner of the presidential race and the Igbo lost out in the national scheme of things since the PDP became the minority in the National Assembly as well.

For this reason, the top four positions in the country have gone to other geopolitical zones. The Igbo have also received the least number of federal appointments under Buhari.

The South-East is the smallest geopolitical zone in the country in terms of land mass and number of states. Geographically, the entire South-East, which is made up of five states, is half the size of Borno State.

Because the national strength of a geopolitical zone is determined by the number of states, the Igbo have the lowest number of seats in the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Federal Executive Council while the North-West, with seven states, has the biggest political advantage in the country.

Sadly for the Igbo, their fortunes might not change anytime soon since the presidency might continue to elude them till 2023. The reason is not far-fetched. The two major parties in Nigeria, the APC and the PDP, are most likely to present northerners as their presidential candidates in 2019

Already, the PDP has zoned its presidency to the North. At its National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, the PDP endorsed a report submitted by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who was also the head of the post-election review committee.

According to the report, the North should produce the next presidential candidate of the PDP as this was the only way the APC could be defeated. Ironically, Ekweremadu, who headed the committee, is also from the South-East.

Reacting to this development, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of APGA, Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe, said 2019 presents the best opportunity for the South-East to produce the President.

Umeh-Nzekwe, who is also the leader of APGA in Lagos State, said since both the PDP and the APC had zoned the Presidency to the North, the votes in the North would be divided.

He, therefore, said this was the time for APGA to consolidate its hold on the South-East.

Umeh-Nzekwe said it was unfortunate that the Igbo only gave bloc votes to politicians from other geopolitical zones but continued to shun their own people. He, however, argued that the Igbo elements in the PDP would awake from their slumber and join hands with APGA in 2019 to ensure that their kinsman is made President.

He said, “The PDP has zoned its presidency to the North while the national chairman slot has been zoned to the South-West. APGA has thus zoned the presidency to the South-East. Hence, the PDP will be buried in the South-East in 2019.

“Those Igbo who used the PDP to destabilise the Igbo race will naturally rejoin their brothers and sisters in APGA to work towards claiming the presidency.

“Since we helped a Yoruba man, Olusegun Obasanjo, to become President; a Fulani man, Umaru Yar’Adua, to become President; and an Ijaw man, Goodluck Jonathan, to also become President, no self-respecting Igbo man will deny his fellow Igbo the opportunity of becoming President in 2019.”

The Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Joe Igbokwe, who is also from the South-East, however, said that for the Igbo to rule Nigeria, they must master the art of opposition politics for the next 10 years.

He said one of the reasons that the Igbo never won presidential elections was because they were always making deals and forming alliances with the government in power. He said the Igbo never built solid political structures but continued to rely on the power base of other geopolitical zones.

He noted that this was the case in the First Republic, Second Republic, Third Republic and the first 16 years of the Fourth Republic. He said this development made it difficult for the Igbo to carve a niche for themselves and become a force to be reckoned with.

Igbokwe said, “I want the Igbo nation, where I come from, to play opposition politics in Nigeria at least for the next 10 years so that the world will take them serious once again in matters of Nigerian politics. In the First Republic, the Igbo-dominated the NCNC (National Conference of Nigerian Citizens) formed an alliance with the northern-based (Northern Peoples Congress) to form a government at the centre.

“In the Second Republic, the Igbo-dominated NPP (Nigerian Peoples Party) again teamed up with the NPN (National Party of Nigeria) to form the national government in the centre.

“In the Third Republic, during the Northern Republican Convention/Social Democratic Party era, MKO Abiola won the election fair and square on the platform of the SDP but the majority of the Igbo, led by the late Odumegwu Ojukwu, the late Evan Enwerem, and Okwesilieze Nwodo, teamed up with some other prominent Igbo leaders and even some prominent Yoruba leaders to support Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, and Sani Abacha in sustaining the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. Again, for 16 years, the PDP was in power in Nigeria, and the Igbo were with the PDP.”

The APC spokesperson said the Igbo did not have sacrificial leaders like MKO Abiola who died protecting his mandate and refused to be bought.

Igbokwe further noted that the absence of a unifying leader in the South-East is also affecting the politics of the zone. He said for instance, the Yoruba interest was being propelled by the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

He said there is the need for the Igbo to shun money politics.

A member of the PDP Board of Trustees, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the Igbo must have ‘unity of purpose’. He said the Igbo were not known for making sacrifices.

He said, “In 2008, we zoned the office of the PDP national chairman to the South-East. However, when we asked the South-East caucus to present a candidate, 20 people signified interest. Some of those who signified interest were Rochas Okorocha, Senator Pius Anyim and a former Governor of Ebonyi State, Sam Egwu.

“They all refused to step down for one another until we intervened and held a series of meetings. It was after such an intervention that Prince Vincent Ogbulafor emerged the chairman. The moment we zone the presidency to the South-East, be sure that several candidates will emerge. The Igbo need to be more united if they will ever get the presidency.”

A former Governor of the old Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, told our correspondent on the telephone that it would be unfair not to allow the Igbo to produce the next President. Musa said although he would prefer the next President emerging on the basis of competence rather than tribe, Nigeria’s diversity must be respected.

He said, “The development is unhealthy. If we accept this idea of rotation, then we must apply it faithfully. And I think the South-East qualifies to benefit from this rotation. It would save Nigeria from a political crisis.

“Normally, it should be based on merit but there is the need to give every Nigerian a sense of belonging. The rotation is, therefore, justified and I think it is time that someone emerged from the South-East.

“The South-East must bring one person forward who is credible and can compete with any other candidate from any other part of Nigeria. If the North presents a candidate that is more competent than the South-East, then the South-East could easily lose.”

It’s been 13 years since Ojukwu prophesied that the South-East would rule Nigeria. When the prophecy will come to pass still remains unknown.

Celebrities / My Pain, My Joy As An Actor – Tony Umez Narrates by amebofamily: 12:25pm On Oct 24, 2015
HE came to limelight in 1994, after featuring in the blockbuster movie, “Died Wretched: Buried in N2.3m Casket”, and since then Tony Umez has remained one of the most bankable actors in the Nigerian movie industry.

However, following the role he played in the soft porn movie, 027,which was released in 2013,Umez incurred the wrath of his fans who were unhappy with his involvement in the movie. But in this engaging interview, the actor talks about the making of that movie, and why he doesn’t feature in an Igbo film.

MY face missing on screen in recent times! I don’t know what you mean by missing on screen! But if I have to agree with your observation, I am back on track. The industry is evolving and younger actors are springing up everyday. But that doesn’t mean, I haven’t done some jobs in recent times. It’s just that I haven’t been as prolific as I used to be in the past. I have been involved in other projects. Nonetheless, I am back in the industry.

Whether scripts no longer come my way

For an A-list actor who used to feature in about thirteen to fourteen movies per year, if he starts featuring in about four to five movies, his face would cease to be regular on screen. That’s why you said, my face has been missing on screen. It wasn’t actually missing on screen.

Living my dream after debuting in Nollywood in 1994

“Died Wretched: Buried in N2.3m Casket, “ wasn’t my first movie. But it was the movie that brought me to limelight. As an actor, I am more focused and disciplined now than ever before. But contrary to what people believe, an actor is the most disciplined person on earth. It has also made me more rounded as I play different characters in movies. My world view has changed too. I don’t see things from just one perspective. I used to read a lot and I’m still maintaining that culture of reading. The industry has also made me to understand that life itself is transient, and not all that glitters is gold.

Why I have not featured in any Igbo film

I don’t speak nor understand Igbo. It’s a long story which I wouldn’t want to talk about now. It’s sad but there is nothing I can do about it. In fact, the little I understand is as a result of my wife. My wife is from Okija.

I am from Ogidi in Anambra State. I speak English and Efik fluently because my mum comes from Cross River State. I grew up in Lagos and as a result, I speak Yoruba too. I have done some Yoruba movies. I have also done an Efik movie. It is not as if I never had Igbo friends while growing up. But I thank God for His mercies. I have never for once run away from my roots.

My colleagues’ reaction over my inability to speak Igbo

My Igbo brothers know that I don’t understand Igbo as much as I should. They are very accommodating and it doesn’t make me a worthless person or alienate me from them. They respect me for who I am, and I respect them for who they are. Basically, they don’t discriminate against me. That I don’t feature in Igbo films is because I am not very fluent in speaking the language.

‘What starring in soft-porn movie ‘027’ taught me’

What prepared me for what I am doing today

Basically, nothing prepares you for anything. But education is very important. When you are educated, it means you are trainable. I read English as well as International Law and Diplomacy, as first and second degrees respectively, at University of Lagos.I did some courses in drama and participated in command performances. So, I wasn’t new to production, but I was new to commercial production when I came into the industry. But at the time I graduated from the university, I wasn’t thinking of becoming an actor.

I wanted to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at that time. Then there was an embargo on employment. I embraced my first course of study- English and started doing private tutoring until 1994, when I featured in a church movie. The movie got me stagnated. But in 1995, I did my first major movie, “ Chief Ikenga” which was directed by Steve Aginoche.

I played the lead role in the movie. Interestingly, I met my wife while starring in that church movie. She played my wife in the movie, and to God be the glory, she is my wife today. We have been married for about 21 years now. We courted for five years, from 1994 to 1999, before we finally walk down the aisle. I am a one woman man.

To God be the glory, I don’t have any scandal in the industry at the moment. I love my wife and I love my family. I don’t want anything to interfere with the peace, joy and happiness that I share with my family.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t paid any fee after featuring in my first two movies. We negotiated but till date the producers did not pay me a dime. As a result, I left the industry because I felt it wasn’t a place I could survive in. I returned to the industry in 1997, featuring in a movie titled, “The Princess.” After which I starred in “Died Wretched: Buried in N2.3m Casket,” in 1998. I have been relevant in the industry ever since then.

The role I played in that soft-porn movie, 027

It is something I wouldn’t want to discuss now because there has been a lot of brouhaha about the film. So many misconceptions. I did a movie, and I didn’t see it as soft-porn. Those who are labelling the film as ‘x-rated movie’ have not watched, till the end. They only watched the trailer and concluded that it is soft porn. I read the script, which was written by one of the very best in the industry Dami Joe Efe Young. It was a wonderful script. The lady in question played the lead role in the movie.

It was a 2-hour movie, but people are focusing on that particular scene which just happened. And it wasn’t as if there was sex on set. Everything was basically make-believe. It was made to look real and people believed it too. I don’t blame them because they have their own opinions while I have mine.

It wasn’t as if there was sex all through the movie. It was just an aspect of the whole movie. The movie generated a lot of controversies when it was released. Some people commended it while many others were against it.

I received some foreign calls, commending the movie because they watched it till the end. But a lot of people who criticized it watched only the trailer online. Like I always tell people, I have weathered the storm and I have moved on.

My wife’s reaction

It wasn’t pleasant news for her because she is a woman. But like I said before, I have weathered the storm, and I have moved on as an individual, and my family has moved on too. May be, what it had taught me is to be more circumspect in the things I do. I should not just look at the creativity embodied in a script. But I should also look at the societal reaction to it.

Crime / AIG Spits Fire Against MASSOB, IPB by amebofamily: 6:09am On Oct 07, 2015
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Usman Gwary, in charge of Zone 9, has declared categorically that the police are ready to battle the Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Independent
People of Biafra (IPB).

Gwari, who spoke in Awka during his familiarization tour of Anambra State Police Command, condemned the activities of the two organisations, which, he said, were inimical to the peace of the people and warned that the police would not fold their arms and watch the peace being enjoyed by the people to be derailed.

He said: “We will not want anything that will bring problem and destroy the peace we are enjoying to be derailed. We will not allow any group to disrupt the peace we are
enjoying in the South-East.”

He promised to attend to the manpower need of the police command as requested by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. H. H. Karma, in his welcome address.

The AIG also promised to take the other requests of the police commissioner to the police authorities in Abuja.

He commended the state Governor, Willie Obiano, for his various assistance to the state police command, which, according to him, had helped in the successes recorded in the operations of the police in the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Karma, told the visiting AIG that Anambra State had been made safer and more secured for habitation and investment.

Politics / Petition Against Uba Vs Ndukwe Adjourned by amebofamily: 11:29pm On Oct 06, 2015
According to his final address, Arthur Obi-Okafor (SAN), the counsel to Uba, urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit as the petitioners failed to prove the allegation of non-qualification.

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Anambra State on Tuesday reserved judgment till a date to be announced in the petition challenging the election of Senator Andy Uba (PDP Anambra South).

This followed the adoption of the final addresses by parties in the matter before the three-man panel headed by Justice Nayai Aganaba in Awka.

Ernest Ndukwe, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, had filed the petition to challenge the declaration of Uba as the winner of the March 28 poll for Anambra South Senatorial Zone.

Ndukwe is challenging the election on the grounds that Uba was not qualified to contest and that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act.

Also, the counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission, O.G. Adindu, said two motions had been filed seeking to strike out the offensive paragraphs of the petition and the petitioner’s reply.

However, the counsel to Ndukwe, Nnuruka Udechukwu (SAN), had prayed the tribunal to allow the petition, contending that the
argument on inconsistent pleadings
in the petition were false. Udechukwu said: “How far is the tribunal willing to allow INEC to refuse to follow laid down rule and
follow non-substantial rule, should form part of the issues in the tribunal’s decision.”

Webmasters / 9 Errors That Reduces The Effectiveness Of Your Ad On Facebook by amebofamily: 10:26am On Sep 30, 2015
Facebook showcasing is one of the best thing that can happen to the items and administrations you offer on your sites. The purpose behind this is extremely self-evident. You have a bigger rate of potential clients why should prepared make a buy of what you have the length of it addresses their issues. On the off chance that you have been searching for an approach to offer more, Facebook Advertising is the best approach. One imperative thing is that such a variety of individuals commit errors when utilizing Facebook Advertising for their items and administrations.

What are the Facebook Marketing Mistakes?
There are sure ways to reduce the effectiveness of your Ad on Facebook, and here we will take a look at 9 of the most common…

1. Assuming that all ads are created equal.
Facebook selects ads to repeat based on the best performers – the ones that generate the most click-troughs or impressions. That’s why it’s important to support your ads with interactivity-promoting tactics such as having a Facebook Fan page, and making sure you really do target the right people.

2. Not tweaking your ad as your campaign progresses.
Too many people create an ad – and leave it. Even the best, most professionally optimized ads go through a natural cycle of peaking and declining activity, so make sure you monitor this, and adjust your ads as needed. (Facebook is also more likely to keep displaying your ad, if it sees you are keeping it current.

3. Not putting your ad in the best Facebook category.
To figure out the right one, you need to think like your viewer: How would she categorize your product? You may think of your custom-embroidered hemp pillows as “home décor accessories”… but your ideal customer might be looking for “green products.”

4. Picking too broad a category.
This is a mistake usually born of inexperience. No, it’s not better to reach 1,000,000 readers in the hope that a handful might actually be interested in your ad subject: It’s better to narrow your focus to an exact, small target group – one that will give you comparatively higher conversions (sales).

5. Not reading all the guidelines and restrictions.
This one should be obvious, but still trips potential advertisers up all the time. The best way not to “miss” something is not to rush through the process. Read the guidelines and restrictions first – do your homework!

6. Rushing into Ad creation.
See # 4… and make sure you’ve thought of all the ways you can maximize the advert dollars you would be spending. Have a plan, don’t just fire your canons off in all directions. Think through your campaign, and plan for the long term (and for modifications) too.

7. Putting all your eggs in one basket.
Especially if it’s the first time you’ve advertised on Facebook, it’s best to start small. Don’t commit your entire advertising budget to it (unless your budget is minuscule – a tiny budget being another “mistake”, but sometimes, one that’s unavoidable for new marketers.)

8. Not realizing you need to link your advert to a fan page, event or group on Facebook.
The purpose of the ads, as far as Facebook is concerned – publicizing and promoting Facebook. So even if it’s your own website you want to promote, your ad should to direct people to your Facebook page, event or group for your website.

9. Not carefully checking formatting and spelling.
Make no mistake – you can easily get your advert disapproved by using poor grammar, unprofessional formatting or having spelling mistakes.

Celebrities / Why I Don't Want To Marry Now - D'banj by amebofamily: 12:26pm On Sep 02, 2015
The Koko Master, who has been linked with not just a few babes, including actress, Genevieve Nnaji; Jennifer Obayuwana, daughter of Polo boss, John Obayuwana; billonaire’s daughter, Adama Ndimi and South African diva, Bonang Matheba has now revealed that he had wanted to get married at the age of 30 but he has yet to do so five years after.

“While growing up, there were some goals I set for myself and at 35; I have accomplished most of them.

Sadly, I have not accomplished the primary goals. The main one is marriage. By now, I thought I would have been married. I had always thought I would have a child before the age of 30. That fantasy did not become a reality because I wanted to strengthen my brand. I wanted to be sure that I was on the right path career-wise because as a kid, you need to crawl before you can walk and eventually run. I wanted to be sure I surpass all boundaries and reach a certain stage where I can easily balance my work and family. That is the main reason why I am not married.”

He however said that he is proud of his other achievements as they have surpassed his widest imaginations.

“Apart from marriage, one other thing I desire to have is the Grammy but that is already in the pipeline and it would be acquired soon. I didn’t know I would meet Kanye West while I was dreaming big as a child. But I dreamt that I would go places and people would hear my song all over the world. I also dreamt that Caucasians would dance to my music. I dreamt I would top music charts across the world and all that has happened. I have dreamt of performing in front of thousands of people on a global stage and I have achieved that. For all these I am grateful to God,”.
