Meanwhile dealer has accepted $6,500 on the red 2005 Highlander. Individual seller in Florida agreed to sell 2004 corolla for $4,000 plus $500 to have it shipped from Miami to Houston. Tomorrow is Christmas but I will be heading back to San Antonio to pick up the 2005 Highlander. 3 down (07 highlander, 05 highlander and 04 corolla) 4 more to go. Will upload pics later.

I can get any ride for any Nairalander. If I have enough dollar on my side then I buy with my money here and you pay in Naira in Naija account. Due to limited dollar on my end I had them wire all cash to my U.S account.

I have been hearing rumors about this increase in custom clearing fees, as a custom clearing agent do you know the exact date or time frame? My family said its sometime in FEB and now they are saying its by the end of JAN. I have 7 vehicles to deliver to them and they are very worried.

Heading back to Houston from San Antonio with this 2007 highlander. This white machine belongs to a Naija pastor hence, the white choice. Got it for $7,500 after back and forth negotiations. Dealer also has a red 2005 highlander that I might be coming back for.

I buy cars for families/friends and average about 4 to 5 cars per year for the last 5 years. This year started off slow, was only able to ship a Toyota sienna for my bros here. Due to the politicians/customs increase in custom fees (70% increase) that will probably take effect sometime in February i have been contacted to order 7 vehicles and ship asap. BizBooks: I’m not making this up. This happens to be the informed opinion of a Toyota
Salesman in Lagos regarding the ban on importation of tokunbo cars. Here’s
the exact quote:

“…our Camry is about N9 Million now. But I can assure you that when
we reflect the new 70% duty and levy…Camry will be about N20 Million”

This represents an increase of more than 100%. We can expect all other car prices
to go up by that much in 2014. Unfortunately, Nigeria is like a nation on a barber's
chair. We move whichever direction our leaders push us, good or bad with little or
no resistance.

It is not too late to put a stop to this ill-advised policy. Contact every elected
and government official you know by email, phone, twitter, facebook etc. Make
your opinion known to them. If enough people complain, this policy might be
reversed.

Note: The Toyota Salesman was referring to a brand new Toyota Camry.
