CSmooth:Who says there is no contract between NDDC and the scholarship applicants? The elements which form a contract are, offer, acceptance, and consideration. They made an offer which we accepted by applying for the scholarship. The consideration we furnished was the time, energy and even the money we spent when we went for the exams and the interview. If we are suing them,it is to compel them to publish the list of successful applicants for 2017. Like I said yesterday, this can only happen when NDDC awards scholarship to any other set, without awarding to the 2017 set. |
My brother it would have been a good idea, if we are driven by unity of purpose. Sadly, we are all talk and no action in this platform. That aside, it has not yet gotten to the point where a legal action can succeed against NDDC. This is because they have not yet taken any action which will show that the 2017 list has been discarded. Even if NDDC called for applications for 2018,you can't still sue them successfully. Until they award scholarship to a new batch of scholars, without giving scholarship to 2017, no legal action can succeed against them. I once proposed a simple publication in a local newspaper, and it was ignored. Is it a lawsuit that we will then be willing to initiate? |
lolololhvfvhb98:In fact we should even bombard her with mails, and make her feel a little of the frustration they are making us go through. |
2017 list is still alive. I don't believe this story about people being sent out abroad surreptitiously. The chairman's, candidate took the exams, and is still in Nigeria. Atleast I'm certain of that. |
viewingthistopic:All we need do is to take a quarter of a page (inside page) in a widely read newspaper like the Sun,agree on the write up and publish it. The kind of damage it will do to NDDC, and the APC by extension, will force NDDC to bring out that list. We can easily contact national dailies to find out their charges for quarter page, and agree on modalities on how to raise the money. |
We have to act fast. Your name is likely on that list that may be thrown away if you do nothing about it. We the young people of this country give up too easily. That is why this politicians, most of which we are better than, continuously rape us and deny us of our rights. You that is ready to give up and write another exams, what is the guarantee that you will make it.Some of us are not making any effort because we are hoping that our godfathers will put our names in the list. On the other hand, simple logic tells me that if the top officials of NDDC are reluctant to publish the list, it means that the list isn't favourable to their lackeys and cronies. As such,we ordinary Nigerians should fight for the release of the 2017 list because we stand a chance. Let us for once hold our leaders to account. We can't continue to fold our hands and wish for change. Changes don't just happen, they are caused. Let's rise up and cause a change in NDDC today. |
My deduction from Ekere's statement on the NDDC site is that, the 2017 process will not be thrown away. However, we should intensify calls for the release of the list. We happen to be interested in pushing for the release of the list, but almost everyone is complaining of distance. I have a proposal which will be effective, if we will buy the idea. Let's contribute and make a paid advert in a national daily, then follow it up with massive social media campaign. This is because whatever we do here on social media, the vast majority who would have been sympathetic to our cause, are not aware. If you look at what it would cost you to pay for your transport and accommodation in PH, and yet be deceived by NDDC officials, or even angered by them, you will see that it will cost us far less to take out a paid advert in a national daily. And it will yeild far more result. |
Evening house. Pls any info on the 2017 list? |
Congrats @ladyburg you really deserve your pay. You fought ferociously for this cause. I celebrate with you guys. God bless. |
Hello everyone, and congratulations to those scholars whose accounts have been credited. I pray all scholars get paid soonest. Pls at this point we need information from everyone so that it won't be possible for NDDC to play any pranks as they do most times. Kudos to those scholars who notified us of their payments. It is my prayer that we continue to work as a team, and that scholars will continue to lend their voices and effort to the struggle for the release of the 2017 list. I wish us all the best. |
Pls can a person from law, apply for this scholarship, or is it only for the sciences? |
Happy new year guys. Welcome to the much awaited 2018.Hold on to your dreams, for no body can take that away from you this year, not even the villains in NDDC. |
Despite the crass incompetence and sheer wickedness of the current NDDC board, which has caused hardship to scholars and anxiety to aspiring scholars, we should not forget to thank God for life and His many mercies throughout 2017. I wish everyone on this platform merry Xmas and a better 2018.May God give the NDDC leadership the sense to do what is right in the coming year. Once again, happy celebrations. Let's keep up the fight. |
In one of his earliest interviews, Nsima Ekere promised to sustain the foreign postgraduate scholarship of the commission. Now several months after, he is yet to pay scholars. The status of the 2017 scholarship list is unknown. Ndoma Egba promised to end ALL outstanding issues relating to the scholarship program by Tuesday last week, fees and 2017 list inclusive. All promises are left unfulfilled till date.In sane climes, such a board would have been unceremoniously dismissed long ago. |
This forum has been uncomfortably quiet for some days now. Does this mean that NDDC made good on their promise? Scholars pls speak to us.Thanks. |
The list should naturally follow payments immediately, because 2017 prospective scholars need to make travel plans and process travel documents, and these things don't take one day. |
Hello @ladybug, I feel your pain and that of other scholars. These NDDC officials are just shameless, and the APC government that put them there, don't care either. I really feel ashamed that I campaigned and voted for the current government. |
I lay claim to no source, and I claim no connection to any top man, but if this week runs out and scholars are not paid, then something is fundamentally wrong with NDDC and the scholarship process. For those NDDC agents who are on this platform to test the waters for their masters, by flying the kite of cancellation of the 2017 scholarship process, pls tell your masters that there is a legal process called mandamus, which some of us will not hesitate to take. You can not cancel a process which has been completed, to go and start a fresh process. How do you then justify the millions spent to conduct that process. They should equally know that there exists a contractual relationship between NDDC and the applicants which is enforceable in law. |
