Christianity EtcRe: You Are A Spirit That Lives In A Body by AmiableOne:
1. Let me quickly add here, that being ‘spiritual’ has nothing to do with the religion you profess. Spirituality is not also a ‘mystical practice’ as portrayed by some religion.it is simply an act of obedience to the ‘voice of good’ in the inside of you. This ‘voice of good’ is popularly called your ‘conscience’, ‘your moral compass’, that nudges you to good deeds. It pricks you each time you deviate from the path of morality. Your conscience judges every of your action, and constantly guides you toward godliness.

2. Again, your godliness is not a function of your religious affiliation. It is simply an expression of the ‘God’ in you, in your daily relationship with others. The good you do to others, is the only definition of godliness that I know!
Please, do not be deceived by any religion and their complicated vain doctrines. You do not need religion to access God, or to live a godly life. Listen to the ‘voice of good’ in the inside of you- that is God guiding you along the path of rectitude. The more you acquiesce to the leading of your spirit the more godly or fulfilled your life becomes.

3. I have had cause to challenge many of my Christian folks, who are ‘tongue speaking, holy ghost filled and bible quoting’, that an average white man, who does not even go to church like them, are godlier. While the white man is looking for an opportunity to help someone in need, my Christian brother would rather carry a big bible to meet a man who is hungry, in name of ‘evangeism’, copiously quote the scriptures, and tell him to ‘give his life to Christ’. And when he is done with his ‘ministration’ he goes his way, with the pious feeling that he has done the ‘work of God’ Rubbish! Arrant nonsense. This is the wickedness towards humanity that has created an ungodly religious society that we find ourselves today. Help me tell my evangelist brother that: “Even the Christ you preach about, remember, he fed five thousand people during His earthly ministry”. Why not do the same, if you are truly his disciple?

4. Bill Gate is not a christian ( he is even an atheist), but he has spent over $28 billion of his net worth on charity, to support the cause of humanity. He has invested millions of dollars alone in Nigeria to support the fight against polio. His philanthropy is impacting the world. This act of nobility is godliness at its peak. Let me even shock you, God is more glorified by the life of Bill Gate, than the miserable life of your religious leaders, who collect money from the poor to build schools, and the children of the same poor people cannot attend thse schools. Many of you religious folks will be shocked to see ‘sinners’ in heaven on that day.
This is the most unchristian post I've read on nairaland in a long while. If it were a case of wrong knowledge of a subject, that would be permissible. But to belittle what Jesus did on the cross? No way!

Dear poster, have you been reading your Bible? All what I've picked from your post are inconsistent with the Bible and rightly so.

All the parts of your posts I have quoted show a profound lack of Biblical knowledge. You could have otherwise made your post a neutral post and tag it under morality rather than lace it with scriptures and try sell it as a "Christian" piece.

I will open a thread for this post and counter the weighty errors you have made. And all my responses to your points will be premised on scriptures and not merely emotional outbursts.

There's a reason why Jesus died and I won't let this erroneous post make a mockery of it.

Kindly expect my mention during the week when everything is settled.

Blessings.
Christianity EtcRe: The Power Of Confessing Your Identity In Christ by AmiableOne(op):
To Cap It All

Dear believer in Christ,

Jesus was never quiet about his identity. He talked about it often and declared it fearlessly even though it angered the Pharisees.

His relationship with God was never a secret. He boasted so much about who he was till his adversaries couldn't take it any more. They sent the temple police to arrest Him.

Interestingly, the police officers became part of the congregation when they arrived where Jesus was teaching. When they returned without Jesus, the Pharisees queried them in anger.

Those police officers could not hold back their awe and they replied, "Never did any man speak like this man." John 7:46

If Jesus was never quiet about his identity, you shouldn't too! It's not enough to shout "I know who I am." You have to always say those things you know.

How to apply the teaching above to your life

Read the New Testament epistles and find out all Jesus has done for you and in you. Then write them down and begin to confess them daily.

Say them to yourself when you wake up and mutter them to yourself as you go about your daily activities. And when you get back home, confess those words again!

As you do, you will begin to see yourself the way God sees you - spotless, saved, sanctified and righteous in Christ! No shame! No guilt!
You will find yourself naturally living above sin and enjoying life every day.

To help you get started, here are 10 New Creation Realities you can start confessing right away!

1. My sins are forgiven for his name sake. 1 John 2:12
2. I have peace with God through the finished works of Christ. Rom 5:1
3. Jesus was made sin for my sake; I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. 2 Cor. 5:21
4. I am accepted in the beloved. Ephe. 1:6
5. I do not have the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. 2 Tim 1:7
6. I do not fear judgement because as Christ is, so am I in this world. 1 John 4:17
6. I have been set free by Jesus, and I am free from sin and all it consequences. John 8:36
7. I’m no longer under condemnation because I believe in Jesus. Rom 8:1
8. Sin has no dominion over me anymore because of the finished works of Christ. Rom 6:14
9. I walk in the light everyday as the Father is in the light. 1 John 1:7
10. The blood of Jesus was shed for me and I’m now without shame or guilt. Rom 3:25, Ephe 1:7

Bonus: I'm a new creation in Christ! Old things about me have passed away and all things have become new! 2 Cor 5:17

Remember what God told Joshua?

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8

Christianity EtcThe Power Of Confessing Your Identity In Christ by AmiableOne(op): 12:39am On Sep 16, 2018
By Kenneth E. Hagin

People ask me about methods of studying the Bible. I suggest to believers everywhere I go that they read through the New Testament, primarily the Epistles which are written to the Church, and underline with a red pencil or write down the scriptures that have the expression “in Him,” “in Christ,” or “in Whom,” referring to Jesus.

The moment you find these scriptures, begin to confess that this is who you are and what you have. If you’ll do that, I’ll guarantee you that before many days, life will be different for you.

Second Corinthians 5:17 has always been one of my favorite scriptures. I believe one reason for that is when I was raised up off the bed of sickness, I began to tell everyone everywhere I went that I was a new creature in Christ Jesus.

I was a seventeen-year-old Baptist boy, but I never had the problems that so many young people have had, and do have. That’s simply because I was quick to tell everyone, “I am a new creature in Christ,” and I was quick to witness and to testify of my salvation. You see, the more you talk about the New Birth, the more real the new creation becomes to you, because that’s who you are and what you are.

I remember one time when I was just a young Baptist boy, preaching in the jails and on the streets and working in the church, a young fellow came up to me one night. I had gone to town and was standing on the corner when he came along and said, “Kenneth, would you do me a favor?”

I knew this fellow belonged to a church, all right. He belonged to the same kind of church I did. But I’m sorry to say if he had ever been saved, I didn’t know it. And neither did anyone else, judging by the way he lived. And in talking to him, I learned he had never been saved, but that he had just joined the church. (There’s a difference between joining the church and being saved.)

Anyway, this young fellow said to me, “Would you do me a favor? I wouldn’t ask you, but I’m already running late.”

He continued, “You know my girlfriend, don’t you?” I did. He and his girlfriend were just about two of the meanest and toughest people I knew.

He said, “My girlfriend’s cousin is visiting, and I promised my girlfriend that I would bring a date for her cousin, but I haven’t been able to get anyone.”

He added, “Her cousin is not like my girl,” because he knew if she were, I wouldn’t agree to the date.

He asked, “Would you come along and help me out of this jam? I’ll be grateful, and I promise we won’t stay very long—30 or 40 minutes at the most. Then we’ll leave. There won’t be any drinking or dancing, and I won’t even smoke a cigarette while we’re there.”

I finally agreed and went along to help him out. When we got to his girlfriend’s house, she introduced me to her cousin, and we sat on the front porch, talking. Then they put a record on the phonograph and began to dance. The cousin asked me to dance. I said, “No, I don’t dance.”

Her eyes got big and she said, “Why not?”

I said, “Because I’m a new creature.”

She asked, “What do you mean, you’re a new creature?”

I said, “Well, in Second Corinthians 5:17 it says, ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.’ There was a time when I was interested in things like you folks are interested in, but since then I’ve been made a new creature in Christ Jesus.”

While that record was playing, she began to cry. This cousin got under conviction as I told her what the Word of God said, and she wanted to be saved. When the record stopped, the other boy and girl saw I had her under conviction, and he said, “Let’s go.” He was ready to take me home immediately!

I didn’t care where it was—whether in the home, on the streets, or in school—I told everyone that I was a new creature in Christ Jesus.
Friend, if we’ll confess that, it will make all the difference in our lives. I wasn’t tempted by the things of the world because I constantly confessed, “I am a new creature in Christ Jesus.”

studentofTruth:
@Op, Great one but it has many loopholes which has been driving many people to atheism. Saying that "prayer" and being born again DOES NOT make one INCAPABLE of sin. A born again believer still has the capability to sin and CAN sin. In fact from the moment one becomes a genuine believer, the journey begins and it's full of temptations/stumbles, falls and getting up (recommitment) & continuation of journey. To think that once you're born again you can't find yourself in sin again is absurd. it's lead many astray. Temptations will surely come; with God's grace you will overcome many, some you will fall. But you get up renew your commitment to God and continue your journey. The more you grow spiritually, the Greater is the type of Temptation for you.

JESUS WORK OF SALVATION

Jesus came to the world to OPEN THE GATE OF HEAVEN FOR MAN (TO BREAK THE BARRIER BETWEEN GOD AND MAN. Mt27:51). Without the coming of Christ, man was incapable of getting to heaven. He came to give humanity that capability to get to heaven. HE DID NOT DESTROY MAN'S CAPACITY TO DO EVIL which is inherent in man's freewill. He gave man the capacity to see God face to face in heaven but without destroying man's capacity to sin. So man must make his own effort to utilize the Grace of Christ's work. That is, man must "strive to pass through the narrow gate" Lk13:24. Man must make every effort to grab this Opportunity Christ has provided...Mt11:12. St Paul says " work out your salvation with fear and trembling" Phil 2:12.

Jesus came to break the barrier between God and man....opening the gate of heaven,. "it is finished" means the opening of the gate of heaven has been "completed". It does not mean that evil will cease to exist in the world or that man has lost his capacity to commit evil/sin even after baptism/being born again. A lot of pastors misunderstand this a lot. As long as man has freewill, he has the capacity to sin no matter his level of spirituality(growth in the lord as some will say).
Now Christ having won the Grace of heaven for man, each and every individual has to UTILIZE that Grace by his effort. Thus with every "THOUGHT", "WORD", "ACTION", and "INACTION" of man, he is either utilizing that Grace and "striving to pass through that Gate" Lk13:12, which Christ has opened OR he's rejecting that Grace and not passing through that Gate.
We exercise our freewill in all that we do every moment. That's why God having given us FREEWILL, will not save us without us.

Peace.
Hi!

The post doesn't say believers can't sin. That would be an erroneous position because the Bible affirms that believers can still sin.

Salvation doesn't rob us of the ability to make a decision to sin. No, what salvation does is that it gives us freedom to serve God without guilt or that inclination to sin.

Luke 1:74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
Luke 1:75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

The apostles also knew believers can sin, hence, John, the beloved, wrote

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

So, believers are free in Christ to live a life of righteousness. The life we receive at new birth is the reason why we can live righteously on this earth.

However, believers can still sin if they choose to. The choice to do anything is forever with all humans: saved and unsaved. The emphasis here is that believers don't have the unbridled desire and tendency to sin anymore.

We have been saved from sin as it's no longer our master. It doesn't have dominion over us. It no longer controls us.

Any believer that commits a sin does so strictly because he chooses to and not because he couldn't say no. Got it now?

This is all I can reply from your detailed reply so I don't leave the context of the topic. Let me know if this is clear enough.

Blessed.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your saviour, say the following prayer.

“Dear Lord God, I come unto you in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus died and rose again. I receive the eternal life you promised into my spirit. I am saved by the finished works of Christ. I’m born again. I’m a now a child of God. Amen.”

If you just said that prayer, congratulations! Welcome to the family of God!

For prayers and counselling, I encourage you to send me a PM. God loves you dearly! smiley

Have you ever wondered why Jesus had to come to this earth? Read on to find out!

Some think Jesus came so we can become rich. Well, that’s wrong because before Jesus came, many people have been rich. The trend continues today because even people who do not believe in Jesus are also rich!

During his earth walk, people thought Jesus was going to become a political leader and save the Jews from the Romans. Even his disciples thought along these lines. But that was not why Jesus came!

So why did he come?

The answer can be found in Matthew 1 when an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph, Mary’s husband. Let’s do a quick read of what the angel said.

Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

The angel instructed Joseph to name the child Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.

Some think what the angel meant was that Jesus would die for the sins of people. Well, that’s not exactly correct. The word “save” confirms it. So what did the angel mean?

In essence, the angel was saying that Jesus would come and give people the ability to live above sin. He was going to give them the power to live a sinless life.

The word “save” as used by the angel connotes that sin is a master of everyone that descended from Adam. And that’s true! Everybody born into this world is an automatic slave to sin.

Even David was not free from this because he acknowledged this problem in his prayer to God.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

He affirms that everyone who is conceived and born received the Adamic nature which is forever subject to sin. Why is that?

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

By this principle, whoever we willingly obey is our master. So, when Adam willingly followed the suggestion of Satan in the garden, he yielded his control and independence to Satan.

Adam reproduced in that state of submission to sin and the devil, which is why all humans born are subject to sin.

No one teaches a little child to lie or steal. He/she just naturally expresses his submission (slavery) to sin. This was why Cain could kill his brother, Abel, even though nobody before him had died.

Who taught Cain how to kill? No one! How then did he “invent” murder? The answer is sin. Sin will always find expression and that’s what happened.

So, the angel was telling Joseph that Jesus will save people from their sins. Above paying for their sins, he will set them free to live a life where sin is no longer in control.

Today, we have people who are slaves to many things like adultery, fornication, drug abuse, stealing, lying and other works of the flesh. They want to be free but they can’t seem to stop. If you’re one of those under the hold of sin, you’re the reason why Jesus came!

A look at Jesus saving a woman from Sin

In John 8, a woman was caught in adultery and was brought to Jesus. Now, the Law of Moses, which was like a constitution for the people of Israel at that time, said such people caught in the act deserved death by stoning. (Deut. 22:21-22)

So, they brought the woman to Jesus. Rather than approve her death, Jesus saved her by divine wisdom such that everyone that was ready to stone her left her alone. Let’s read a short portion of that story.

Joh 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
Joh 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Jesus told her he won’t condemn her. Notice that Jesus didn’t deny that she did wrong; he just said he won’t condemn her. It’s like saying, “I don’t want to blame you even though you did it; instead, I want to help you.” Isn’t Jesus wonderful?

When he saved her from her accusers, he then told her to go and sin no more. He saved her from the consequence of her sin and empowered her with those words to go and sin no more. Beyond that, he would later go to Calvary and pay for her sins. How gracious!

Jesus still saves today!

Friends, no matter what sin that has caged you and it seems there is no freedom for you, I want to let you know that Jesus came to save people from their sin.

Jesus can save you from that grip of sin if you desire to be free. He won’t condemn you! He won’t blame you! Instead, he wants you to come as you are so he can help you. See what he said:

Luk 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

You don’t have to wait till you’re fine to go to the doctor; your sickness qualifies you for his attention. Likewise, don’t wait till you’re good enough before you come to Jesus.

Come as you are! He wants to help you.

Will you let Jesus help you today?

Christianity EtcRe: Here’s Why Many Christians Today Believe Different Things by AmiableOne(op): 10:06pm On Sep 08, 2018
So, what is our message? Let's find out the answer to this question from the early church.

Act 5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Act 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

Act 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Act 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

Act 11:20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

Act 17:13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Act 17:18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

Did you notice something similar in all these verses?

They clearly confirm that the early church didn’t preach a concept. They didn’t preach an idea. They didn’t preach a philosophy or theme. They all had one message which was Christ Jesus.

That said, what was the focus of their doctrine (teaching)?

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

The writer of Acts called it the apostles’ doctrine because that was what all the apostles taught. But the epistles give a clear idea of us the focus of their teaching.

2Jn 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Did you also notice the word doctrine is singular again? There’s only one right teaching. Just one. And it is the teaching of Christ.

In all, the idea of believing different things is against the standard set by the early church.

There is nothing like “in our church, we preach deliverance, prosperity, holiness, wisdom or all of those.” Christ remains only our focus.
Why Christ? Because all these things we try to focus on individually are all in Christ.

Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father [u]that in him should all fulness dwell[/b];

All these things we try to take on singularly are all in Christ Jesus. We will discuss more about this some other time.

In summary, we must begin to put our focus solely on Jesus again. God is restoring the focus of it all back to Jesus. All we individually try to claim is in Christ Jesus. All the fullness of God is in him.

Martin Luther puts it succinctly when he said “sola Christos” meaning Christ alone.

There is only one message and only one doctrine. When we make it only about Jesus, all our seeming differences of beliefs will vanish.
We will all believe the same thing again; just like it was in the early church. And it will only be about Jesus and nothing else.

This is the will of God: that in all things, Christ should have pre-eminence. Col 1:18

May this truth grow in the Nigerian church in our day. Amen.
Christianity EtcHere’s Why Many Christians Today Believe Different Things by AmiableOne(op):
I have spoken to people who genuinely wonder why many Christians believe different things even though they read the same Bible. Some Christians have tried justifying this trend, but are they correct? Let’s find out from the Bible.

A look at the early church

In the book of Acts, we read of the birth of the Church on the day of Pentecost where as many as 3,000 believed the gospel after Peter preached to them. You can find this story in Acts 2 and enjoy the reading for yourself.

After their salvation, the Bible tells us something profound about these first set of believers.

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

All the new believers all continued in the doctrine of the Apostles. Don’t let the word doctrine freak you out; it simply means teaching.
Now, I tell people that when you study the Bible, make sure you pay close attention to the details. It is possible to read the Bible absentmindedly and miss out what a text really says.

The verse above says they continued in the Apostles doctrine. You remember that after Judas fell, the apostles elected an apostle, Mathias, to take his place. (Acts 1:15-21)

So the apostles were 12 in number, yet the Bible doesn’t use word plural of the word “doctrine” which would be “doctrines.” It’s singular and not plural.

In other words, all the twelve apostles had only one teaching for the church. They taught the same things and the new believers heard the same thing irrespective of which of the apostles was doing the talking per time.

The question now is “how were they able to all say the same thing?”

You will recall that the apostles walked with Jesus for 3 years before his crucifixion during which they learned many things from the Lord. This is why John, the beloved, could declare in his epistle.

1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
1Jn 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto uswink
1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

You see it now? They had been with the Lord and walked with him. Now , this agrees with what he had said earlier in his gospel, John 1:14.
In addition, after his resurrection, the Lord spent 40 days teaching his apostles the things of the Kingdom.

Act 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

So, they had the same teaching because they received it from the Lord. They simply gave to the new believers what they had received from the Lord. There was no addition nor subtraction.

How Christians started believing the different things
Now that we have established that the early church didn’t have the practice of believing different things, how then did we have believers divided into different doctrinal camps today?

The problem started when people were told that every minister of the gospel must have the message they are sent to preach. Such assertions came with statements like “every prophet must have his message” and all that stuff.

That was how we got people who said the focus of their message is wealth. Others sprang up and said theirs was holiness, discipleship, deliverance, healing and all those themes.

Soon, their members increased and focused only what they their leaders told them was their “message.” Yet, we understand that this is an aberration from what Christ intended.

There is only one message and one doctrine. This division that now exists is not of God and we see can see it clearly from the Bible.

5 Categories of People That Deserve To Be Ignored

Although the internet is a place where anything goes, Nairaland is in a class of its own. Anybody who has spent time on this forum will agree that it’s pointless trying to respond to everybody or getting upset about what an unknown person posts.

That said, here are the categories of people that are not guaranteed of getting answers from me.

1. People who ask needless questions because they do not stick to the context of the conversation

2Ti 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

2. People who are in a hurry to comment and as a result make unintelligent posts

Pro 18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

3. People who are contentious and just want to argue

1Co 11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

4. People who are not believers. The intention is to not to engage them on things pertaining to the kingdom EXCEPT on threads about salvation.

1Co 2:14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
1Co 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

Act 24:11 Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
Act 24:12 And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
Act 24:13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.

5. People who won’t give up a position despite having been shown from scriptures that they are wrong.

Tit 3:11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Christianity EtcMY STAND: A Glimpse Into Why I Do The Things I do On Nairaland by AmiableOne(op):
Tip: This thread comprises four pertinent posts which are this opening post and the first three comments that follow. This thread is for informative purposes and can be viewed as a personal thread. Hence, the front page shouldn’t be its destination. Thanks! smiley

Having been an inactive member of this forum since 2013, I have witnessed many trends and times on this site. Around the period I registered, this section witnessed the activities of people who might now be referred to as legends of the religion section.

Bible debates were quite common on critical issues in Christianity. While I would personally judge a large part of their work to be quite helpful in shedding light on several grey areas, not much was done for the growth of the believer in Christ who frequented threads on the board.

This is not to fault their contributions as a single person cannot do everything. They did their best, and today, I dare say some practices are fast becoming obsolete because of their efforts. Nevertheless, spreading the light of Christ and his finished works in its simplicity remains The Message.

Lately, I have witnessed threads created by people with noble intentions grace the front page from this board and it’s quite easy to spot some inconsistencies. I’ve tried commenting a few times to engage the OPs but very little impact can be made via that approach.

Based on my desire to see Jesus glorified, I have decided to create threads to help other believers on this forum. I do not claim to have all the Bible knowledge or to be infallible; but every true student of the Bible ought to be willing to search the scriptures and correct his/her understanding of scriptures when necessary.

All my posts will be solely from scriptures and every position will be proved by scriptures. I will only accept I’m wrong where scriptures are used to explain scriptures. There would be no assertion from any popular MOG, no reference to visions or experiences or books aside the Bible.

Martin Luther puts it better when he said “sola scriptura” meaning “scripture alone.” No sentiments. No experiences. No feelings. No traditions. No denominational doctrine. No guess work. Just proper interpretation of the Bible devoid of additives.

“Why this treatise?” you may wonder. Knowing the way Nairaland operates, I’m painstakingly making this post because I don’t intend to respond to every kind of mischievous question, statement or aspersions on my person. I don’t have that time and I won’t engage in needless exchange of words.

I have a clear idea of why I’m setting out to do what I do, and I won’t entertain unnecessary distractions. This thread will serve as a reference point (as I have inserted it in my signature) for as long as I will be active on this website.

To cap it all, I invite other believers to join me as we take a voyage of discovery into what Christ has made available for us. God has blessed us!

Glory to God!
