The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employers (AUPCTRE) has hailed the Federal Government plans on concession of the fallow land in Osun-Osogbo to Sayfawa Co. Ltd. Bornu based Hospitality Company. Osun- Osogbo is a sacred forest along the banks of the Osun River just outside the city of Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. The National Secretary of the AUPCTRE, Alhaji Khalifah Abdul-Hafeez, on Sunday told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the area could be made attractive if the management had been prudent. "We are strongly recommended this concession of the fallow land around the Osun River because the step will drive efficiency or effectiveness. Concession can transform the environment and make it attractive to the world if there is transparency, prudence and accountability in the affairs. "There are cases of reported frauds in the past, running into not less than N500 millions of tax payers’ money which could be used to transform the national heritage. "The fallow land the government wants to sell can be turned into parks and be made attractive to Nigerians and investors. "The Osun-Osogbo is Art of heritage, Monuments, Deities spirit, souls and symbol of culture of the Yoruba’s which should be preserved along with its environs," the scribe said. He said the internally generated revenue will be used to turn the national heritage around when the new owner take over. |
