PoliticsRe: No Regrets Endorsing Fashola For Second Term - Tinubu by amodaade: 10:10am On Oct 14, 2011
IKEJA— Lagos State Government, Thursday, said it will discontinue the services of two of its tax consultancy firms – Alpha Beta and TAMAC- in revenue collection.

Organised private sector under the auspices of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, yesterday, accused the revenue consultants of outrageous lifestyle, describing them as squandering tax-payer’s money.

MAN also accused the consultants of double- standard and encouraging multiple taxes in the state.

The National Joint Tax Board had condemned the use of private consultants in revenue collection by governments, stressing that it does not promote transparency.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue, Mr. Bola Shodipo, said government will from next year discontinue with the revenue/tax consultancy system.

He said that the consultants had outlived their usefulness, and their services may no longer be required.

The private revenue/tax consultants were introduced when Tinubu was governor of the state.

Recent reforms carried out by the government, it was gathered had empowered the state Board of Internal Revenue to bring in tax/revenue experts, as its core staff and transfer non-core staff to ministries and other parastatals as part of efforts to raise the internally-generated revenue of the state, which unconfirmed sources was put at over N20 billion monthly.

It does not matter whether you unplug the modem or not, the number of hours used will still jump. There was a time I used I used to keep a record of my usage times which I took to their office at Motorways building, near 7Up Ikosi. No solution.

I started using multilinks cdma-1x 7years ago without any problems. Ever since I started using their bluebroadband internet service two years ago, its been tales of fraud. I have never completed my 50hrs subscription time successfully. I requested for monthly plan (not based on hours), but no show. I guess its because of the fraud that they do not offer monthly subscriptions.

I stopped using the service about three months ago due to dissatisfaction. Only two days ago, I subscribed again hoping for the best only for my hopes to be dashed. The speed is so slow from an average of 60-70kB/s before to 10kB/s now. Apart from always saying password is incorrect, it has logged me out about four times in the last two days claiming insufficient recharge.

Once my current subscription expires, I will finally do away with their modem/service
