Ebubu:
Obi of Onitsha is just a chiefdom of Bini King

The British met a very highly structured Arochukwu which they ranked above Onitsha tradition.

Arochukwu King has influence over Southern Igbos of Owerri, Ngwa, Aba, Orlu, and strongly on Ibibio of Akwa Ibom state.

Their influence even entered Ebonyi state in Edda and Afikpo axis where they took slaves captive and received tributaries.

If the British expeditions had delayed and Aro people met Bini, it would have been a serious fight.
😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Thank your star that the British didn’t tarry, else the Igala tribe would have finished you.

Imagine a talk from someone whose region never had anyone to lead a war expedition outside her zone. On Nsukka-Benue axis of the Civil war, you met your Waterloo.
It was even a Yoruba man who lead the war accross the Niger bridge through the Mid-West to Ore in Ondo state.

I could remember watching life when Bill Clinton, the then US President made his official visit to Nigeria in the year 2000. In one of his official statements in Nigeria, he mentioned Sunny Ade as one of the favourite Nigerians he knew

You are right. Am from Edo state and my late dad was an alumni of university of Ibadan. Igbos brought nepotism in government. Their only cry was because they couldn't get to the top again. I don't know why history was stop has a course or subject in schools again. Yorubas are the beacon of education and the real trailblazers in education and that is made possible by the late sage Awolowo who introduced free education in western region then. When Osita chidoka was the head of FRSC, most of the fresh igbos graduate he employed started with level nine and some even ten against the norm of level eight. When Buhari became president, there were complains by some staff and he ordered the new FRSC boss to verify and those affected were demoted back to the original level. Anybody can verify cos it was in some major newspapers back then. That is why when the accuse other tribe of nepotism, I don't take them serious cause they started it. Isaac boro declared niger delta republic but Ironsi as then head of state went against him and his boys and many of his boys were killed, claiming one Nigeria and Ironsi was supported by Ojukwu but a year later after the revenged coup led by dimka that killed Ironsi, Ojukwu declared Biafra republic because he knew he has lost power at the center. He took arm against the government and government had no choice to fight him and his boys to standstill. If I have the privilege to meet with the president, I will beg him to bring back history so that upcoming generation will not longer be decieved by their elders. It will be one of my plead to the president.
Dimka didn’t lead the coup that killed Ironsi sir.

I used to advocate that History should be returned to the curriculum. Later I realised that it will do worse than what we intend using it for. History is so delicate that the teachers only teach what they want you to know and mostly with sentiments. Nigeria is so bad right now that you can’t leave the history to anyone to teach the next generation, else they end up poisoning them with false narratives.
Not having the information of events at all is better than false information

3. Took their land, cut off the oil-rich parts & joined it to a region called “south south” which contains other ethnicities whom Nigeria refers to as “minorities”. Then called the surrounded land “south east” - which makes no geographical sense by the way

A lot of Nigerians do not know that a large part of the wealth of this entire country comes majorly from that region - oil, GAS & coal. They are being marginalised internationally for the purpose of exploitation of their lands. Literally half of the so called Niger-Delta is Igboland, annexed into the SS by Gowon.

Sports / Nigeria’s First Olympics Medalist, Nojim Maiyegun Is Dead by Amotolongbo(f): 10:55pm On Aug 26
Nigeria’s first-ever Olympics medalist, Nojim Maiyegun, has been reported dead.

This was disclosed late Monday by an Austria-based acquaintance of the deceased identified as Rudolfine Soultan (Funmilayo) on her Facebook post.

The post read, “My Jimylein (Jimmy) is dead. I can’t say more about this right now because it’s just horrible. By the day after tomorrow, we would have been together for 17 years.”

In a check by our correspondent, on August 29, 2023, Maiyegun, popularly known by the monikers — Jimmy, Market Boxer and Omo Oloja; wrote in a Facebook post, with a picture of himself and Soultan, “16 years together.”

Unfortunately, we celebrate without Jimmy and not much, because he was admitted to the hospital again today. I always go with the rescue and stay with him for a few more hours.”

Born February 17, 1941, in Lagos State, Maiyegun became Nigeria’s first-ever Olympic medalist after winning bronze in the men’s light middleweight (71kg) category at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

He also won a bronze medal at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica among several other laurels he won while representing Nigeria.

He relocated to Austria in 1971 to continue his professional boxing career. However, he had a short professional career between 1971 and 1973 with only 16 bouts, winning 12 including 10 knockouts and four defeats as well. In 2012, he revealed that he had lost his sight.

Sports / Israel Adesanya Visits Osun, To Be Honoured By Kinsmen by Amotolongbo(f): 10:48pm On Aug 23
Nigerian-born mixed martial star, Israel Adesanya has visited his country home, Osun, with the UFC star set to be honoured by the people of Esa-Oke, in the state.

Chief Akin Onifade, the Sajuku of Esa-Oke told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that Adesanya would be honoured at the Esa-Oke Day celebration later this year.

The celebrated Nigerian-New Zealand UFC middleweight combatant arrived Lagos on Wednesday, few days after losing the UFC 305 crown to South African Dricus Du Plessis.

After five consecutive UFC wins, Adesanya won the interim middle weight title against Kelvin Castelum in April, 2019 and unified the champion with a talent victory against Robert Whittaker in October that year.

Onifade said that Adesanya was given a carnival-like welcome at the palace of the Owa- Omiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Alayeluwa Adeyemi Adediran on Thursday.

“The Esa-Oke born UFC star was ushered into the palace by traditional drummers in company of an enthusiastic crowd of highly elated youths and family members and other eminent Nigerians.

“The elated Owa-Omiran was full of praises to God for the feats achieved by the young artist, and prayed extensively for his glory to continue to shine brighter and brighter to the glory of God.

“The revered Owa-Omiran announced that the Ananye ruling house born Israel will be honoured during the Esa-Oke Day celebration later this year,” he said.

According to him, Adesanya expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler and the entire community for the warm reception and the honour accorded him.

“Adesanya in his response said he was delighted to be back to his roots and promised to always make Nigeria proud,” he said.

Present at the reception include: the Asalu of EsaOke, High chief James Ajewole and the Odogun of Esa-Oke, High Chief Olatunde Esan, Looyin of Esa-Oke, Chief Wale Aregbesola, Sajuku of Esa-Oke, Chief Akinwumi Onifade.

Others include the Obalogbo of Esa-Oke, Chief Olabode Ajayi , Osolu of Esa-Oke, Chief Ajiboye, Aro of Erinjinyan, Esa-Oke, Chief Akanni Omole and the Loja of Kajola- Esa-Oke, Oba Akande Adebiyi.
