otemanuduno:He did not say he is going off of blind faith, sir. I would not jump to conclusions, as he is simply stating what he believes to be truth behind whatever reasons he has not mentioned here. It truly does make a person seem arrogant if they try to assume something they can be easily proven against simply by saying his reasoning for believing the faith. |
Hello there, sir. To be truly honest, I don't see how the "universe" can be our God, as the universe holds no true sentience other than our existence as humans. Humans were so ingeniously designed that it could not have been through freak accident. We are the only species in our system to have sentience. Believe me, I am an Evolutionist Catholic (a member of the Catholic Church who believes that God used Evolution as his methodology of bringing us about, this is in fact allowed to be a valid theory in the Catholic Church), so I do hold some aspects of science to my word. Yet, I do not let science alone explain how existence came to be. You hold no true evidence that these gods you presented do not exist, as the lack thereof anything does not specifically correlate to an actual evident piece of truth that proves that there exists no God. Believe me, sir, I am not trying to say that you should believe what I do, but rather I would like to explain my personal stance on how I perceive the world. Science is reason, but limited reason. Reasoning and rational thought goes beyond science. Science involves what can be felt, touched, and examined, while reason involves what can be seen, thought, connected. If you truly think about it, St. Thomas Aquinas has a lot of these reasons mentioned and mentioned again (he has a list of 20 somewhere) and they exist as valid reasons. Thank you for reading this. -Amuspheric |
And once again, I open debate on a subject forgotten 2 years past. I would like to mention that the people, everyone, living in ignorance of another's beliefs does in fact make you look really childish. As a Catholic I would like to clear up a quick mention of the Catholic teaching. For this specific argument, I would like to direct everyone to the Athanasian Creed. This more accurately describes how the Catholic Faith percieves Trinity. To answer the questions previously mentioned, 1) No, as he is God. 2) Yes, by God the Father, who is himself in unity. 3) God the Father, who is himself in unity. 4) Both are equivalent in power: infinite. 5) Jesus is God the Son, so no. Yet, he still is God, the singular God. 6) All three, not just both. 7) Christ is under subjection to God the Father, who is himself, while being God the Son. Therefore, Christ is still equivalent to God the Father. Please do mention if I err in writing these, as I am personally not an expert on Trinitarian belief, as this can be easily subject to potential heresy. I am trying my best to put it into plain English. |
I've been reading and decided to make an account and say something: 1) the Roman emperor Constantine was in fact pagan AT FIRST, until converting to the Catholic Church by winning a war with the Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ (I forgot the specific name). 2) Let me say this as an ultimatum on the subject; Catholics do NOT worship saints or Mary, do NOT pray directly towards saints or Mary, but DO ask for intercession in their prayers in heaven. If anyone argues otherwise, then they clearly do not know the Catholic teaching. 3) Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons are the two more prominent non-christians who believe in God as a singular person. They do not believe in the Trinity, which is a required Christian belief to be concidered Christian. Please keep this in mind, I may have revived an argument from a while back. |
