PoliticsKaduna To Pay New Minimum Wage From 1 September 2019 by Anasko(op): 2:50pm On Aug 26, 2019
Kaduna to pay new minimum wage from 1 September 2019
Kaduna State will implement the new national minimum wage from September 2019. The Kaduna State Executive Council today approved that payment of the new national minimum wage and consequential adjustments to civil servants will begin from 1st September 2019.
“The Executive Council meeting, chaired by Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, the Deputy Governor, noted the commitment of Governor Nasir El-Rufai to strengthen the public service and its capacity to deliver quality and responsive public service. The council deliberated on the minimum wage memo and unanimously approved commencement of the implementation in September 2019.
“The Executive Council stated its that commitment to the public service includes a desire to improve the standard of living of workers in the state. Pursuant to that, the Kaduna State Government launched a pay review process early in 2018. A cabinet committee was charged with exploring how the Kaduna State Government can sustainably improve public sector salaries.
Guided by the twin principles of ability to pay and sustainability, the government considered several scenarios, bearing in mind the trend of internally generated revenues and allocations from the federation account. Several salary scenarios were considered, and one option was identified as most prudent. A final decision was suspended as negotiations for a new national minimum wage appeared to gather momentum. It was reactivated after the Federal Government announced the new national minimum wage in April 2019.
Paying the new national minimum wage and consequential adjustments will increase the wage bill of the Kaduna State Government by 33%. Gross monthly salary outlay will rise to N3.759bn from the current N2.827bn.
This almost N1bn monthly increase in the wage bill means that salary and pension commitments will take the lion’s share of state government expenditure. Meeting these salary obligations while meeting development objectives for citizens will further raise the pressure to expand and deepen revenue sources and collections.
According to the new wage structure, the lowest paid workers in the civil service enjoyed increments of as much as 67%. Middle-ranking officers from Grade 10 to 14 were awarded increments of 60%.

Jobs/VacanciesKdsg Recruitment: Kdsg Extend Application Deadline To August 26, 2019 by Anasko(op): 9:19pm On Aug 06, 2019
The Kaduna State Government welcomes the enthusiastic response of citizens to the recruitment notice it issued on Thursday, 1 August 2019. The recruitment drive seeks to advance the public service reforms by injecting younger and more competent personnel into the core civil service and at least 26 agencies.

More than 10,000 candidates have already submitted their applications online, while over 28,000 persons have registered on the KDSG job portal.

For an even fairer process, the government has extended the submission deadline by two weeks to Monday, 26 August 2019. This is intended to give more persons the opportunity to apply. The extension would also encourage more of the registered persons to complete and submit their applications.

The new deadline for submission is 12 noon on Monday, 26 August 2019. By extending the application window, the state government is further reinforcing the fairness at the heart of the process.

Interested persons are reminded that the application process for this recruitment programme is strictly online. All required documents and data must be provided in the required fields. No submission of CVs or other documents by email will be accepted.

Fairness and equal opportunity require that all applicants access the same forms, provide the required data in the same format and submit their applications on the same channel.

The minimum requirement for this recruitment programme is a first degree or equivalent, along with evidence of completing the mandatory NYSC scheme. Applications can be initiated from the Recruitment tab on the Kaduna State Government website.

Jobs/VacanciesApply For Teach For Nigeria Fellowship Programme 2019 by Anasko(op): 8:46am On Apr 15, 2019
The Teach For Nigeria Fellowship is a transformational leadership program that equips Fellows with transferable leadership skills to effect change beyond the classrooms in the communities we serve. After the Fellowship, alumni of Teach For Nigeria build on their classroom teaching experience to drive long-term systemic changes in the educational sector in Nigeria as they progress into leadership roles in their varied professions. The Teach For Nigeria model is based on the proven success of 40 country organizations including Teach For America, Teach First UK, Teach For Ghana, Teach For Bangladesh, Teach For Nepal and Teach For India, who are all part of the Teach For All network.

Teach For Nigeria is developing a movement of leaders who will expand educational opportunity to all children in Nigeria. We recruit Nigeria’s most promising future leaders from varied disciplines to teach in Nigeria’s undeserved schools in low income communities through a highly selective, two year Fellowship.

1. WHAT IS THE TEACH FOR NIGERIA FELLOWSHIP?

The Teach for Nigeria Fellowship program is a 2 year full-time paid commitment in which we place the most outstanding graduates and professionals to teach in Nigeria’s underserved schools in low- income communities. The Teach For Nigeria Fellowship is a transformational leadership program that equips Fellows with transferable leadership skills to effect change beyond the classrooms in the communities we serve.

2. WHY DOES THE FELLOWSHIP LAST TWO YEAR? CAN I TEACH FOR JUST ONE YEAR IF I CHOOSE?

The two year commitment is necessary to make the impact we wish to have on student achievement. In the first year, Fellows refine their teaching skills and start to establish respect and trust among various stakeholders within the school community and the students. This allows Fellows to achieve significant academic gains for students. In the second year, Fellows engage in their community projects to further their impact. During the two years, you will strive to transform the stude, transform as a leader and transform your school and community.

3. WHY SHOULD I JOIN TEACH FOR NIGERIA?

According to UNICEF, over 58.3% of pupils in school are not learning while nearly 50% of Grade 6 pupils cannot read at all.

At the secondary school level, the historical academic performance of students, as measured by results from the West African Senior School Certificate exams (WASSCE) shows that between 2008 and 2015, pass rates have not exceeded 40 percent. These figures are alarming. We are giving our children little or no hope for a future with opportunities.
You should join Teach for Nigeria because you are a leader and a change agent who will transform education in Nigeria.

4. ARE THERE ANY BENEFITS TO BEING A TEACH FOR NIGERIA FELLOW?

Yes. As a Teach For Nigeria Fellow, you are a part of movement of young leaders working to eliminate educational inequity. In addition, these are some of the benefits of being a Fellow:

Opportunity to be part of a movement that is changing lives and that will change societyExtensive leadership development trainingIntensive teacher trainingReal responsibility from day oneJob and internship opportunities during and post FellowshipOpportunity to be a part of a global network of change agents from across 42 countriesAccess to a Mentoring Programme, offering a unique opportunity to achieve professional and personal developmentAccess to professional development and network of supportersOngoing leadership development, coaching, business training and skills workshopsOpportunity to design and implement a social change projectA stipend for two years including during the school holidays.
