Tragedy occurred today by around 2.30pm at Diamond Bank Ahmadu Bello way Jos when gunmen dressed in military uniform and which came to the bank in military taskforce Hilux tried to gain access into the bank premises, but were prevented by the security men at the gate.
According to eyewitness, the assailants claimed that they wanted to use the ATM at the bank premises, but were told to park outside the bank premises as there was no parking space inside the bank premises. This action of the security, according to our source infuriated the assailants who jumped down from their Hilux to confront the security men at the bank gate. One of the assailants opened fire on the security men, killing one on the spot while others sustained various degree of injuries.
Immediately the security man was killed, the assailants jumped into their military branded Hilux and zoomed away. The shot security man was rushed to Our Lady of Apostle's Hospital Jos, where he was confirmed dead by the doctors.
Investigations are ongoing according to the Commander Joint Task Force, Operation Safe Haven to ascertain the identities of the assailants and where they came from, as they were suspected to be fake soldiers as their Hilux was not properly marked by the Joint Task Force Number code, but was only marked 'OPS' according to one of the survivors of the attack.
