Two best graduates, male & female and two worst graduates, male & female in the 2016/2017 academic sessions of the University of Ilorin, have been awarded scholarships to study in Oxford, UK.

The announcement, made by the registrar of the university, Emmanuel Obafemi, at the second day of the 33rd convocation of the university on Saturday, was greeted by loud ovation at the event.

He said that the cumulative grade performance aggregate (CGPA) determined the beneficiaries.

The scholarship awards were presented to the graduates by an international scholar, chair and founder of Excellence in Education Programme, Oxford, UK, Professor Chris Imafidon,

Prof. Imafidon, who had argued, while delivering the 33rd convocation lecture of the university, entitled, The Genius in You, said there was no worst graduates, but rather, the country was blessed with human resources, and he planned to turn them all to geniuses.

Reports out of China shows that this device has attracted a lot of attention in China and after less than two days, it has officially surpassed 50,000 registrations. This figure is nowhere near the likes of Xiaomi and Huawei but it is quite good considering that Nokia is not a Chinese brand. On October 24th, Nokia 7 will commence sales and will be available in 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB variants which should cost 2,499 Yuan ($377) and 2,699 Yuan ($407) respectively.

As a reminder, this smartphone is only 7.9mm thick and it is very delicate with a unique humble feel. It has a 5.2-inch screen with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass which is designed using the diamond cutting process. The back of the phone is designed using the third generation Corning Gorilla glass with a 7000 series aluminum frame thus this smartphone is quite protected from a deadly drop. In terms of hardware, this smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor built with the 14nm technology coupled with 4GB/6GB and 64GB of internal storage. It comes with Android Nougat operating system and has a 3000 mAh battery capacity to keep its lights on. In the camera department, Nokia 7 is China’s first smartphone which is equipped with Zeiss lens. It has a 16MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, 80-degree wide-angle lens which supports 30fps 4K video and a 5MP selfie snapper which support positive and negative dual vision shooting. In addition, this smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor and the screen is anti-fingerprint/grease stains. It further supports OZO panoramic audio capture technology, thus you can better capture live sound.

Barely a month after it first unveiled the bezel-less Mi Mix 2, it appears Xiaomi is all now set to introduce a special edition and more premium variant of the phone(Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Ceramic White). Lending further credence to the existence of a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Ceramic White, a device believed to be a Mi Mix 2 with an all ceramic white color has just appeared online in the hands of lady tech analyst Sun Changxu. Further cementing that position, a Weibo user who is probably an insider has disclosed that a special Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with a huge 8GB RAM may soon be revealed. He further stated the 8GB RAM Mi Mix 2 would come in Ceramic White, while the regular black Ceramic flavor would also get a RAM boast of 8GB.

RAM and color differences aside, the Ceramic white edition would pack same internals as the other variants. The special Mi Mix 2 variant is however said to have been subjected to an intense temperature of about 1,400 degrees centigrade within a 7 days period resulting in a beautiful finishing.

While we aren’t exactly sure when the device will be revealed, there are speculations the device could be released just before the 11.11 sales promotion which is usually a big one for Xiaomi. It is expected to cost about 4699 Yuan (around $700).

Gigabyte has announced the Aorus X9, a gaming laptop with a pair of NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPUs, as well as a 7th-generation Intel processor and up to 64GB of DDR4-2400 RAM. This Gigabyte model packs a massive high-resolution display, as we’d expect from a powerful gaming laptop, plus a keyboard stylized by RGB backlights. The Aorus X9 doesn’t come cheap with a starting price of nearly $1750.

The Gigabyte Aorus X9 gaming laptop has a huge 17.3-inch IPS display with a QHD 2560×1440 resolution. The display has an anti-glare coating joined by 100-percent Adobe RGB color, though there’s also a 3840×2160 IPS UHD 120Hz WVA panel offered. Users get various configuration options, the top price of which draws close to $3,700. The two GPUs are joined by a 7th-generation Intel i7-7820HK processor.


Users have the option of up to 64GB of memory thanks to four DDR4 slots. Audio gets special treatment with the Aorus X9, which packs a pair of woofers and two speakers for what Gigabyte calls quad audio. The laptop also has an ESS Sabre Hi-Fi digital-analog converter.

Another key feature with the Aorus X9 is the inclusion of a mechanical keyboard. Joining the keyboard’s RGB lighting are colorful accent lights on the outer portions of the laptop, plus an RBG HUD. Chinese manufacturing giant Xiaomi has launched a Classic Intelligent Fingerprint Door Lock with a price tag of 1699 Yuan ($256). This price includes installation. This lock comes with a fingerprint recognition apparatus using a premium design. Interestingly, this door lock which comes with a solid anti-breaking ability utilizes four different unlocking procedures which include using a fingerprint, mobile phone app connected via Bluetooth, password and a physical key.

The handle of this product has over ten years live span and it can handle 100,000 times pressure test without sagging. This door uses a live fingerprint chip and all the data are preserved in a separate safe area. Furthermore, the error rate of the fingerprint chip is 0.0005% and a wider range of people can unlock this door (7 -70years) as opposed to the conventional 14years – 55years age range. It functions perfectly under adverse conditions (high or low temperature) and has a deep learning ability so that with time, it swiftly recognizes frequent users.

This Intelligent Fingerprint Door Lock will be incomplete without an alarm system. The alarm is triggered if a user attempts an unfamiliar print up to 15 times or when an intruder tries to pick the door lock. As for the password, it is just a 6 digit code but it also has an anti-peeping virtual password which is a 16-digit password.

As expected, HMD Global today has officially announced the brand new Nokia 7. which will be available in China on October 24 in two variants. The 6GB/128GB model will be 2,699 Yuan ($407), while the 4GB/64GB model will be 2,499 Yuan ($377). But what do they offer for that price?

The Nokia 7 will feature a 5.2-inch FHD IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The Snapdragon 630 processor powers the device. It has 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of expandable storage, though no limit was given. The device comes with IP54 certification, which means it’s splashproof and dustproof.

The device also marks the return of Nokia’s bothie feature. Pictures are taken with both the front and back cameras and then combined to form a single image. Handling this is the rear 16MP camera with 1.12um pixels and a f/1.8 aperture and the 5MP front camera with 1.4um pixels and a f/2.0 aperture.

The 7’s frame is 7000 series aluminum with diamond cut beveled edges. It’s the first Nokia device to feature a glass rear, which comes in Glossy Black and Matte White. The Nokia 7 is powered by your standard 3000mAh battery with fast charging support. All-in-all, it’s a fairly standard device, though the Nokia name should help give it a push.

Prospective undergraduate students from Sub-Saharan African countries are welcome to apply to the University of California, Berkeley. However, The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at UC Berkeley will not be soliciting applications for undergraduate scholarships for fall 2017 or beyond.
As an eight year program from 2012 to 2020, the undergraduate recruitment phase has ended.
