I pity policemen who follow convoys of politicians and VIPs. Most especially those in the Toyota Hilux they normally use. They fail to understand that they are in a kill box and it takes nothing for a well timed ambush to wipe them all out.

An attack coming from the front has already reduced the line of sight of the policemen at the back of the Hilux by over 40%. If they pop out their head to see which direction the fire is coming from, they get picked off.

Those inside the Hilux are even worse off. There's little room to properly aim and fire plus you are taking incoming and accurate fire targeted at you. The driver of the Hilux may take a hit and the vehicle becomes immobile. So there you are, armed in a kill box and in a kill zone but useless and helpless. As multiple rounds pierce your body, you are surprised that the so called bullet proof the police division gave you, is nothing but hardened plastic.

As you close your eyes for the last time, drawing your last breath, thoughts of your family flash across your mind. They will be lucky to even see any of your emoluments. They will be lucky to be compensated for your death and even then, they'll not see more than half a million at most.

The politician you lost your life for trying to protect, has written to State HQ for replacement officers to be sent. They will be on their way even before your body gets cold.

It is sad isn't it? You had spent your years in service boasting to terrified civilians that you will kill them and nothing will happen. Funny enough, here you lie dead as a door nail, dead in active service yet the same police force you gave your life for Will not be bothered to investigate and go after your killers. You have died and truly nothing is happening!

Today, I am writing not as a member of any political party, not as a supporter of any politician, but simply as a concerned Nigerian who is tired, saddened, and worried about the direction we are heading as a people.

The recent kidnapping involving school children and teachers in Oyo State broke my heart.

As I followed the discussions online and offline, I expected people to focus on the victims, pray for their safety, sympathize with their families, and demand better security from those in authority.

Unfortunately, that was not what I saw.

Almost immediately, some people started saying the incident happened because the governor belongs to a particular political party. Others claimed it was the opposition trying to make the President look bad. Some blamed one party while others blamed another.

At that point, I asked myself a simple question:
Must everything in Nigeria be political?

-Children were kidnapped.
-Teachers were kidnapped.
-Families were thrown into fear and uncertainty.
-Parents could not sleep peacefully.
-Loved ones were praying and hoping for good news.

Yet, instead of focusing on the human tragedy before us, many people were busy scoring political points.

This is not how a healthy society behaves.

What happened to compassion?
What happened to empathy?
What happened to our shared humanity?

The truth is that insecurity does not recognize political parties.

Kidnappers do not care who you voted for.

Bandits do not ask whether you support ADC, APC, LP, NDC, NNPP, PDP, or any other party before attacking.

When tragedy strikes, everybody suffers.
Rich or poor.
Christian or Muslim.
North or South.
Government supporter or opposition supporter.

Pain does not discriminate.

Another thing that deeply troubles me is that many times we hear reports that ransom has been paid and victims have been released, but we rarely hear about the masterminds being arrested, prosecuted, and punished.

As ordinary citizens, we continue to live in fear while criminals seem to operate with increasing boldness.

This is not about attacking any government.

Every administration at different levels must take responsibility for protecting lives and property because that is one of the primary reasons government exists.

However, beyond government, there are important lessons that Nigerians must learn.

First, we must stop treating politicians like gods.
Most of the politicians we fight over today will shake hands tomorrow and move on with their lives.

Meanwhile, ordinary Nigerians remain the ones suffering the consequences of insecurity, unemployment, poor healthcare, and economic hardship.


Second, we must learn to value human lives above political loyalty.
No political victory is worth celebrating when innocent citizens are living in fear.


Third, we must learn to show empathy.
Just because a tragedy has not happened to you does not mean it cannot happen tomorrow.

The pain you mock today could become your reality tomorrow.


Finally, we must hold leaders accountable without turning every issue into a partisan battle.
Demanding security is not opposition.
Demanding justice is not hatred.
Demanding protection for innocent citizens is not politics.

It is our right.

My appeal to Nigerians is simple:

-Let us stop using people's pain, suffering, kidnapping, and death to score cheap political points.

-Let us stop worshipping politicians while ignoring the suffering of fellow citizens.

-Let us become a people who value humanity before politics.

A nation where citizens genuinely care for one another is stronger than a nation where everyone is divided along political lines.

May God comfort every family currently experiencing pain.

May He protect every innocent Nigerian.

And may we never lose our humanity in the pursuit of political arguments.

There is a subset of Northerners, mostly Fulani, who believe in the supremacy of the North over the South, and the supremacy of the Fulanis over other Northerners. These people deeply understand and imbibe Ahmadu Bello's philosophy of politically dominating the South.

From what I have seen on social media, many of Atiku's Northern supporters belong to this subset. Obasanjo, as the president of Nigeria, allegedly prostrated for Atiku to allow him run second term. Atiku insulted Jonathan to his face in 2011, telling him not to contest because it was the turn of the North. He would later defect from PDP to be among the founders of APC. The same Atiku contested to be president just as Buhari, a Fulani man, was completing 8 years. Obasanjo begging Atiku for a second term clearly showed that Atiku dangled his Fulani credentials in his face. Atiku is a Fulani supremacist deceiving the gullible as a detribalized Nigerian. Tambuwal, El-rufai and Buhari are other examples of Northern supremacists.

Contrary to what they might want to make you believe, Atiku still does not have a widespread appeal in the North. Most of the people cheering Atiku's presidency in the North are the Fulanis.

The post made by this Kwankwasiyya dude reeks of a Northern supremacist, who could not wrap his head around a RMK deputizing an Obi. To people like him Northerners should always be president, and they must decide whoever and whenever a Southerner should be a president. One of the problems the Northern establishment has currently with Tinubu is that they cannot control him after they reluctantly put him in power. By the way, he still had to bribe them with a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

One of the reasons this superiority mindset in the North has remained is because some Southerners have bought into it. I shake my head in disappointment when I read comments from some myopic Southerners on social media saying something like: "The North have decided to take power back". Statements like this cave to such Northern supremacy mindset; they also reek of Southern inferiority.

The good news is that the North of today is no longer the North Ahmadu Bello handed over to them. They are not as united as they used to be. The long played-out Fulani domination has weakened the cohesion among the various ethnic and religious groups in the North. The Tiv man from Benue or the Berom man from Plateau is more suspicious of a Fulani man from Sokoto than his grandfather was in 1965.

This lack of cohesion is something a united South can capitalize on. With all the popularity of Buhari in 2015, if the SW had voted for Jonathan enmass, Jonathan would still have won. Peter Obi's performance in 2023 also shows a pathway to presidency without massive votes from the Fulani-dominated states.

If Atiku run in 2027 and amass large votes in the North, I would suggest we present and unite behind a Southerner in 2031 to contest against the Northerners.

Most Nigerianss are bad debtors.

Today is Children’s Day but many Nigerian children are not celebrating. They are living in fear instead of joy.

Insecurity is getting worse. Kidnapping is now common. People cannot even travel short distances without fear. Every journey feels like a risk. Every phone call at night brings fear.

Families are not at peace. Parents are worried every time their children leave home. Students are afraid. Workers are afraid. Farmers are afraid. Nobody feels safe anymore.

Life is becoming very hard. Food is expensive. Survival is difficult. And yet the fear of insecurity sits on top of everything like a heavy weight.

Government at all levels should focus more on protecting lives and property. Not politics. Not 2027. People are suffering now.

Please and please, help free these children and their teachers.

No child deserves this. No Nigerian deserves this.

We need safety again. We need peace again.
