Politics / Edo 2020: Obaseki Directs Closure Of Hotels In Edo North Where All Apc Members by Annyomo(f): 8:10pm On Sep 17, 2020
*...Staff of Edo State Board Of Internal Revenue already on their way to execute this illegal order*

The All Progressive Congress Tactical Response team which to draw the attention of the world to another draconian order of the outgoing governor of Edo State Mr Godwin Obaseki few hours to election.

The governor who has discovered the that he stands no chance to be relected this Saturday has embarked on the final reckless use of his power by ordering Edo State Board of Internal Revenue to immediately move to Edo North to close down all the hotels where APC members and guests are lodged on the flimsy excuse of the tax invasion.

Our inside source further inform us that as we speak, the officials are already on their way to execute this obnoxious and illegal order.

Consequently, we are by this notice informing all our supporters in Edo North to be alert to resist this officials who have been sent to execute this illegal.

We are also using this notice to advise those who have been sent on this foolish assignment to immediately turn back because Edo North People are ready to resist them. They should not allow themselves to be casualties of Political desperation, totalitarian leadership and abuse of power by the governor.

Signed.

Politics / Edo 2020: Dubious Assumptions And Many Lies.(2) -by Kassim Afegbua. by Annyomo(f): 11:05pm On Aug 17, 2020
Too many lies make the politician's pot of soup to swell. Too many lies swell their pockets especially when grabbed by bloated, pot-bellied men, struggling to fetch from the pot of soup. The Obaseki Campaign Team visited my community of Okpella on Sunday, 16th August, and made me the issue in their campaign. I felt so honoured that they consistently referenced the bad roads that are yet to be attended to. They said, oh, I served Oshiomhole for four years and I could not fix the roads. They wouldn't complete the narrative that Oshiomhole started the roads, completed one part, and all we desire is a completion of the other part. Okpella people are becoming wiser. In Ward 6, rather than host Governor Obaseki in Ogute with fairly smooth road, they hosted him at Imiekuri which represents the sordid reality of Okpella bad roads. With his 42 vehicles campaign train, they struggled to climb the mountainous road covered with red dust and smoky atmosphere. Getting there, he delivered another lie; "within 24 months, if I don't fix this 12.7km, don't call me a Governor again". Of course he won't be Governor again after September 19 election.

His journey to Okpella was good. He has added to his list of failed promises. He had promised on four occasions to fix our roads, the declaration on Sunday, 16th August, was the fifth promise. He had failed in those four occasions. If it was not for campaigns, he probably would not have known that there is a community called Imiekuri-Okpella. Re-election fever has its own punishment for Governor Obaseki, who is now forced to traverse communities and villages he had hitherto forgotten. You could see him sweating profusely like a man who had just completed a marathon race. Some members of Obaseki Campaign train sent me pictures of their imported crowd and left a cliche: "yeah, we are right now in Kassim Afegbua's Ward 5". When the people that rode with them from Benin in their 42 vehicles convoy were emptied into Ikpomaza Grammar School's sporting field, they were like oasis in the desert. They quickly called out to other Wards to flesh up the scanty arena. That school has only four teachers in an era of Obaseki's touted EdoBest education initiative. When they left Okpella with their noisy train, Okpella people were happy that they made him travelled through the bumpy ride. Some even teased that his vehicle almost skidded off the road on his way to Imiekuri-Okpella.

I am happy that I have made a loud statement about the plights of Okpella people in the hands of Governor Obaseki despite the huge internally generated revenue that accrues to the state on a monthly basis from the companies operating in Okpella. It is because of the abandonment and lack of performance of Governor Obaseki that made Chief Dan Orbih to score Obaseki F9 in all the critical sectors of the Edo economy. It is the reason why Dan Orbih lambasted the Governor for failed promises especially not being able to meet up the 200,000 jobs he earlier promised. Dan Orbih was unsparing of Governor Obaseki's failed leadership and poor performance. But once the pot of soup of Nigerian politicians gets swollen, through pocket investment, they can choose to answer another name, reason why the PDP gifted Obaseki its ticket. Rather than tell Okpella people what he has done, he ended up making promise of 24 months before he could attend to our discrepit roads. The IGR that the government is enjoying today is a function of the intervention that Oshiomhole made to ensure that the companies took off.

Too many lies wear a surreal garb. I also read Senator Uzamere saying Governor Obaseki did not collect salaries in his eight years with Oshiomhole. Another lie. What he got from the recurrent budget of the economic team was more than what the Commissioners collected put together in a year and it is often drawn to the last kobo. What was paid as commission for the N25b Benin City Storm Water Masterplan loan to Afri-Invest was mind-blowing and more than all the salaries of all. With such perks, does he have to still collect additional salary? He also collected sitting allowance in the Tax Assessment Review Committee (TARC) at every of such meetings. Most of the travelling expenses of Godwin Obaseki especially out of the country were paid for from the Governor's office, in the name of estacode. How many Commissioners had such benefit travelling outside the country? In 2016 budget, the Commissioner for budget and planning, Lawrence Aghedo, almost engaged in a fistcuff with Obaseki over reduction of the budget of the economic team to N10m. Godwin Obaseki was livid with anger over the decision of the Commissioner to attempt a reduction. The Commissioner's explanation was that the government was winding down and did not have to do too many sittings since it was a campaign year. The position didn't go down well with Godwin Obaseki, but the budget was presented with those figures to the State Assembly. Dr Lawrence Aghedo, an economist, and such a cerebral mind, is still very much alive to contradict this narrative. So each time I hear this bogus claim that Godwin Obaseki worked without salary, it rumbles my stomach.

Talking about the Edo state Assembly that has produced a new Speaker in Honourable Victor Edoror, I saw a petition written by one tactless old man whose specialty is handling protocol assignments for his children's age mate, Osaro Onaiwu, against our own cerebral, brilliant, rugged and fecund legal mind, Dr. West Idahosa, who served in the lower house for 12 unbroken years. Osaro, who has abandoned his alma mater, Ikpomaza Grammar School, Okpella for ages, suddenly remembered the school when he tried to raise dust over the location of my country home. Instead of investing his precious time on ways to improve his alma mater, he shamelessly shouted hoarse over nothing. To confirm his recent status as Godwin Obaseki's lapdog, he petitioned the Nigeria Bar Association over the legal advice of Dr. West Idahosa on the lingering Edo Assembly stalemate, calling on the NBA to sanction this great legal pundit of West-Idahosa's emanations. Another anti-Edo chieftain like the Governor, who has gone full throttle to undermine the collective interest of an average Edo mind. Yet, in their quiet moment, they would profess their Beninness as a trademark for superiority complex. How can a true Benin man be trying to drag down another Benin man, all in the name of politics, as Osaro Onaiwu is wont to provoke?

Under Godwin Obaseki, even the monarchy, the great Benin Kingdom with a cosmopolitan King, a consummate diplomat and an amiable persona, is being threatened. What has been the response of the state Governor to the deliberate attempts to balkanise the Kingdom, from the Gelegele axis of Edo South, especially over threat to create a kingdom in that Ijaw populated area of the state? What has been the response of the Governor to the challenge posed by the Oghiamen family who have been trying to lay claim to the monarchy for sometime now? Imagine the disrespect in Edo government's action of inviting the great Ooni of Ife to government house without the courtesy of allowing him meet his royal counterpart, the Oba of Benin, knowing the cultural consanguinity of the two great Kingdoms. Edo people must wake up to the stark realities that stare us in the face presently and speak with one voice to safe the Kingdom and the state. It was not an accident of history for the highly respected Otaru of Auchi to have openly endorsed the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu by according him a title that conveys that "this is our own". When next the government apologists tell us bogus lies, we know how to respond to them.

Politics / Edo 2020: Edo Residents Accuses Obaseki by Annyomo(f): 10:33am On Aug 15, 2020
Edo Residents Write Inspector-General of Police, Accuse Obaseki, Deputy Of Shooting During PDP Rally

● The residents claimed that Obaseki’s deputy escorted some thugs into the village as they shot sporadically at residents

Residents of Apana Village, Edo State, in a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, accused Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, of shooting at residents during a rally of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The residents claimed that Obaseki’s deputy escorted some thugs into the village as they shot sporadically at residents.

Narrating the experience, the residents said a teenager was hit by a bullet in the arm while another person was hit by a bullet in the hip.

The residents identified some of the thugs, who invaded the community as Umasor Umoru, Itotoi Imonikhe, Momodu Salafa and Emmanuel Irekpita.

“The governor's convoy arrived at the square. At this time we had all ran away and hid in different positions where we could safely observe the happenings. The deputy governor of Edo State,  Hon. Philip Shaibu, came down from his vehicle and escorted by his security aides, he started supervising the destruction of properties in the village square.

“The gunmen ran towards Oduge Quarters where they identified a Peugeot 505  Station Wagon belonging to a local APC chieftain, Wilson Idaewor. Thankgod Okhumaoya immediately ordered that the vehicle should be destroyed.

“The hooded men and Thankgod descended on the vehicle breaking the front and back windshields, the side windows, mirrors etc.

“Mr. Thankgod Okhumaoya started identifying shops and properties belonging to APC members that should be destroyed all around the village square.

“Thankgod Okhumaoya ordered that they should go and burn down Chief Lucky James house which was quite a distance from the village square at the end of Oduge quarters.

“On their way to Chief Lucky James house, they continued to shoot in all directions and in the process hit a teenage boy, Samuel Sabageh who was sleeping inside the house when a pellet hit him in the arm.

“They also hit one Mr. Samuel Anerua who was sitting in a bar near the village square when stray bullets hit him in the arm and in the hips. Ms. Elizabeth Sunday the daughter of an APC leader in the community, was shot on the head while frying garri in front of her father's house, while Evaristus Emuekpere's ear was brushed by a flying pellet,” the residents’ letter to the IG read.

They wrote that after the rally, the hoodlums waited behind and continued threatening the residents of the village.

They also said that in another attack, the thugs reinforced and embarked on another shooting spree.

“At about 1:00am, four Toyota Hilux trucks with one of them painted blue and carrying revolving lights entered the village.
“They stopped at Victor Oshioke's house where the occupants sprayed his security house with a hail of bullets.
“They went to the neighbouring house where Mr. Imonikhe JB Idaewor, an APC youth leader lives and sprayed it with a hail of bullets. They drove down the street to Mr. Wilson Idaewor's house and sprayed it with bullets.

“Finally, they went to Mr. Udukhokhai Jimoh's house and sprayed it with bullets before driving out of the community,” they added.

The Simple Agenda: The Manifesto Of Hope

- Youth Development and Sports

Edo State had a history of sporting glory until recently. The “SIMPLE” Agenda will treat youth, sports, recreation and cultural activities as a business model for job and wealth creation. Edo State must be made to regain her premier position in sports in the country.

Special funding will be allocated to improve facilities, hire coaches and motivate sports men and women to attain national and international excellence in sports. Some of the specific activities that we would implement for sports development include the following:

• Young people will be encouraged to create businesses in youth development, sports, recreation, and cultural activities.

In collaboration with donor agencies, NGOs, corporate bodies, and financial institutions, government will create platforms where young people can access financial assistance for such businesses across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

• Government will re-introduce school sports in all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state, as this will enable us identify young talents for national competitions in furtherance of the restoration of the state’s lost glory in sporting activities.

• Insurance Football Club and other sports clubs and associations will be given special consideration and government will partner with reputable stakeholders to sponsor and promote these clubs.

• In partnership with the private sector, we will re-introduce the Ogbe Hard-Court Tennis Championship as an annual event to boost Sports Tourism.

• To reclaim our leading role in boxing, we shall renovate and re-equip the boxing gymnasiums located in the State.

• We shall collaborate with reputable sports marketing companies to establish sports academies in the state, as this is capable of gainfully engaging many of our youths.
• We shall resuscitate, refurbish and expand the games village in Afuze.

• Our government will promote mainstream equality in sports including encouraging gender parity and disabled equality in participation across a range of sports.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY: PREPARE FOR BETTER LIFE

It’s that time of the year again when we celebrate our young people who are the drivers and pillars of any group, community, society, state or nation. A State that desires to ensure development, secure her future must pay keen attention to her young people and must strategically make tangible plans for the development and engagement of the youth.

The goal of this day (International Youth Day) set aside by the United Nations in the year 2000 was to give opportunity to celebrate and mainstream young peoples’ voices, actions and initiatives, as well as ensure their meaningful, universal and equitable engagement. It is rather unfortunate that this has not been observed in our dear state- Edo State since its inception. But I want to assure our youths in Edo State, that we have expressly stated plans in our Simple Agenda to drive Youth empowerment and engagement as a major part of our manpower developmental Strategy because we understand that the greatest resource of any State is her people, especially the youths, who are strong and energetic and are primary in our Manpower development Strategy.

The theme of this Years’ Celebration is Youth Engagement for Global Action” and this seeks to highlight the ways in which government can engage young people at all levels, enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.

As we get into office by Gods Grace and through your support later this year, we shall give youth development utmost priority and celebrate this day specially with various youth developmental plans in focus.
I want to assure our youths in Edo State not to lose heart, as youth development shall be a priority in our administration. It’s time to restore the glory of our State by recognizing and managing the potentials and skills of our youths for optimum development.
So, don’t not just hope for a better life, I want you to prepare for one and be ready to take it with your vote.

Happy International Youth Day to my Dear Edo State youths

Long Live Edo State
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu (@PastorIzeIyamu) tweeted at 9:07 pm on Tue, Aug 11, 2020:

The people of Owan West, and indeed the whole of Edo Central, came out in unbelievable numbers to demonstrate their love and support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the #POIGANI ticket.

Previously, I’ve heard some people say “APC will win Edo South and Edo North, but Edo Central, I am not sure.”

However, I am confident that with the number we pulled, organically, in Igueben, Ubiaja, Irrua, and Ekpoma, despite our best attempts to restrict attendance in compliance with safety regulations, all doubts and questions on our ability to win Edo Central have been erased and sufficiently answered.

Our people have seen through the lies of the “Esan Agenda” being promoted by those on the other side.

If the Governor is serious and truthful about it, what hasn’t he come out to make the promise himself, instead of hiding behind proxies who cannot be held accountable?

How can a Governor who claims to love Esan people cut the allocated funds to Ambrose Alli University, causing the prestigious institution to obtain bank loans just to meet its financial obligations?

How can a Governor who claims to love Esan people consistently overlook them in appointive positions and deny them effective representation in government?

He was presented a chance to demonstrate his so-called love and amend for previous slight when his Chief of Staff resigned in protest of his poor administration, but again, despite overtures, he overlooked the Esan people. The same was the case when he named his campaign DG.

It is clear to all that the incumbent Governor, aware of his failure and inability to win a free & fair election, is trying to divide us and sow the seeds of fear. But we are wiser and this ignoble style of politics sadly embraced by the Governor has been rejected by our people.

I am grateful to everyone who showed up and restated this fact. My heart is full. I have nothing else to say other than: THANK YOU! We will never betray your trust.

IN DEFENCE OF CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY
- By Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The recent actions of the Governor of Edo State represent the gravest possible assault on constitutional democracy and the rule of law and escalation of violence and tension in the state he purports to govern.

2. Not satisfied with making a mockery of our constitution by blocking the timely inauguration of two-thirds of the elected members of the Edo State House of Assembly, Governor Obaseki has now resorted to the strong-arm tactics of dictators.

3. First, he sponsors hoodlums to deface, indeed destroy, parts of the House of Assembly Building in Benin, feigning the building is undergoing renovation. Then, he imports sand and gravels to prevent access to the assembly complex.

4. In effect, the man has spent state funds to thwart the very apparatus of the state government he was sworn to uphold. He has squandered public money to defeat the very will of the public. This is tragic beyond words.

5. As a pretext for his refusal to allow the Edo House of Assembly to function, Governor Obaseki’s actions are perverse. This is a cowardly act and a move to thwart representative democracy in Edo.

6. No renovation has been planned for the state house building. No appropriation was made in the state’s budget. The only reason any renovation could be deemed necessary is the destruction wrought by his own goons.

7. Governor Obaseki’s governance of Edo State recalls the worst excesses of our military past and represents a direct threat to the democratic order. By his refusal to permit duly elected members of the Edo State House of Assembly to perform their constitutional duties,

8. Governor Obaseki betrayed contempt for the people of his state and, unfortunately, his ignorance of Nigeria’s constitutional order. As a Governor he ought to know better than to obstruct the functioning of his own legislature, but perhaps he is in need of a quick lesson.

9. Indeed, it is no coincidence that of the three arms of government, the powers of the legislature are enumerated first, in our Constitution. The legislature is the authority imbued with the power to make laws for the peace, order and good governance of the federation and states

10. Indeed, the Constitution makes clear that a Governor’s role primarily extends to the maintenance and implementation of the laws set down for him by his state’s legislature.

11. Although Governor Obaseki’s conduct in the past year is undoubtedly impeachable, these legislators have made no threat to impeach the Governor. Their only desire is to peacefully perform the duties asked of them by the constituents who elected them.

12. The rule of law and preservation of democracy is too important to sacrifice at the altar of any one man’s ambition. Governor Obaseki’s woeful leadership of Edo State will hopefully be brought to an end soon by the very people whose rights he has so carelessly trampled upon.

13. One can only hope that the damage he is doing to the most important of the state’s democratic institutions can just as easily be repaired.

*Edo Assembly invasion: Police nab 7 pro-Obaseki thugs with firearms*

*…thugs confess they were mobilized by Adjoto, Osaigbovo Iyoha*

*…group demands immediate prosecution*

The Edo State Police Command has arrested seven pro-Obaseki thugs involved in the siege laid at the Edo Assembly complex on Thursday to prevent the majority of elected members, who have since impeached the former Speaker and replaced him with Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, from sitting in the complex.

The arrest was made yesterday when the Police responded to an emergency call from 17 elected members of the Edo Assembly who came under attack by thugs reportedly directed by the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, to prevent plenary from holding at the Complex.

The thugs identified as Festus Agbonrenren (25 years), Odion Osayande (23 years), Ogbeiwe Wilfred (52 years), Morgan Uwaigboe (47 years), Osayomore Salami (25 years), Ifeoluwa Oladele (36 years), and Iginobaro Collins (26 years) were arrested with five double-barrel long guns, two single barrel long guns, and ten live cartridges within the premises of the Assembly complex.

Sources have confirmed that the arrested thugs have all confessed that they were mobilized by the Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Political Matters, Edo South, Mr. Osaigbovo Iyoha, and his Special Adviser on Parliamentary Issues, Mr. Kabiru Adjoto.

Governor Obaseki made an appearance at the Assembly Complex on Thursday to offer a robust defense of the actions of the thugs and the destruction of parts of the Assembly complex under the guise of ‘renovation’, although he failed to answer questions from journalists who sought an explanation on how an Assembly of 24 elected members could be formed and presided over by 7 lawmakers purportedly loyal to the Governor.

Meanwhile, an activist group in Edo State, Democracy For All, has condemned the actions of the Governor and demanded an immediate prosecution of the arrested thugs and their sponsors.

In a statement released on Friday morning, the group denounced the invasion of the Assembly Complex as an ‘egregious crime and affront on the constitution and the rule of law’, insisting that the arrested thugs, who have confessed their ties to the Edo State Governor, must be made to face the wrath of the law alongside their accomplice no matter how highly-placed.

Its statement read in part: “It is a shame that in Edo State today that we have a Governor who is insisting that a House of 24 members should be led and constituted only by 7 members. And to sustain this illegality, he has turned to violence, vandalism, and dark politics.”

“While we thought our democracy has evolved and left certain ugly trends behind, Governor Godwin Obaseki, by his actions on Thursday, set us back many years with his flagrant abuse of office, violation of the integrity and expected character of his esteemed position, and the promotion of violence and illegality.”

“Our first demand goes to the Police and it is to immediately commence processes for the prosecution of the arrested thugs and their direct sponsors, Mr. Osaigbovo Iyoha and Mr. Kabiru Adjoto.”

“Their prosecution will signal to the world that Nigeria is neither home to criminality nor a jungle where appointees of government can break the law at will and threaten law and order through the sponsorship of thuggery, violence, and unfortunate contribution to arms proliferation.”

When I thought about putting this piece together, the words of President Barack Obama came to my mind , where he said "In the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it"

Taking Edo state as a case study: It is true that on daily a basis the people are confronted with various degrees of problems, if not political squabbles, it will be on anger caused by hunger, heightened insecurity, poor educational programme, failed infrastructural plans, hazardous health initiatives, lack of payment of salaries, dysfunctional incentives and pension arrangements, administrative recklessness and disregard to the rule of law.

No wonder, many are tired and yearning for a true and enduring change that reflects genuine democracy, where the interest of the people is paramount. This clamour came alive, when it became evident that the intention of Mr. Godwin Obaseki is not to dispense governance, but rather to inseminate odium and engage in wasteful adventures -

*Ize-Iyamu congratulates Edo new Speaker,* *says his emergence marks end of lopsided democracy*

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Sept. 19 Edo Governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has congratulated the newly-elected Speaker of the Edo Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, describing his emergence as the end of a deformed and lopsided democracy.

Hon. Victor Edoror of Esan Central constituency emerged Speaker on Thursday in an emergency plenary session attended by 17 elected members of the House of Assembly, while Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje of Akoko-Edo Constituency II was elected as Deputy Speaker.

The emergency plenary session impeached Hon. Frank Okiye and Roland Asoro as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively and nullified all previous actions taken by the 7th Assembly.

In a congratulatory message signed by Mr. John Mayaki, the Chairman of the APC State Media Campaign Council, Ize-Iyamu said the emergence of Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror as Speaker is a victory for Edo State and all constituencies previously denied representation.

He said: “I am happy to receive the news of the emergence of Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror as the Speaker of the Edo State House Assembly.”

“His emergence marks an end to a lopsided and deformed democracy, ushering in a new and reformed era of inclusive governance and non-discriminatory politics.”

“Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror’s emergence is also a victory for the people of Edo State, for the constituencies previously sidelined, and for the House-members’ elect who had been unfairly denied their elective right to represent their constituencies in government.”

“Personally, as someone who has known Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror for a long time, I am convinced by the great personality he is; I am sure that this joy sweeping across Edo as the shackles of tyranny breaks today, will not be temporary.”

“As a true democrat and a progressive, and as someone who came to leadership through and after a tomentous and elongated period of political persecution, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror knows the sour taste of injustice and as such would not let any one more Edo person experience such bitter tang.”

“Backed by an overwhelming majority, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror is demonstrably the people’s choice for the position. And it is in line with common sense that for an individual to sway such massive support, he must have demonstrated great qualities admired and necessary for leadership and development, and as such is being trusted with the enormous task of piloting the House from its darkest moments as cast into by the reprehensible divide-and-rule politics of the outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.”

“I send my congratulations to Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror while at the same time encouraging him to set a good example with the opportunity of leadership God has given to him today.”

EKPEDO COMMUNITY *VOWS* TO QUE BEHIND RT. HONORABLE BAMIDELE OLORUNTOBA TO DELIVER PASTOR OSAGIE IZE-IYAMU

Speaking at the occasion, Rt. Honorable Bamidele OLORUNTOBA, Federal Board Member, *two-time* Edo State House of Assembly Member and former Commissioner for Local Government Service Commission, reaffirmed *APC's* commitment to *alleviating* the hardship of the People.

Speaking at the occasion, the Councilor representing the good people of ward 9, Akoko-Edo LGA, Mr. James Ugbodaga, said it will be unfair to join and support the People Democratic Party (PDP), knowing full well that all his political leaders and the good work the APC led government have done for ward 9 and in the entire Edo State.

Asking the obvious, *one of the faithful of the APC party,* Mr. Silas Longe, asked the *teaming* supporters of APC if the Obaseki led Edo State government has *initiated* any project in Ekpedo and in the entire ward 9.

The APC ward 9 woman Leader, Mrs Justina Joseph, *reiterated* her unflinching and *unalloyed* support for APC and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, stating that with Rt. Honorable Bamidele Oloruntoba aka 'Mr. Projects' support for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, it's a done deal in Ekpedo and in the entire ward 9.

Historically, ward 9 is the heart beat of Akoko-Edo politics. Once the leaders decide *whom* to vote for, it's sealed! The ward 9 leaders *have* thrown their whieghts behind the candidacy of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Hon. Gani Audu.

*EDO NORTH COUNCIL OF IMAMS ENDORSE PASTOR OSAGIE IZE IYAMU AND MALLAM GANI AUDU*
-By Comrade Abdulsalam
5/08/2020

The Edo North Council of Imams yesterday, 4th of August, 2020 held a meeting in Auchi, Etsako West, Edo State, where they announced their total support for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu and his Deputy Mallam Gani Audu.

The Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Edo State who doubles as Chairman, Muslim Support Committee, Edo Apc Campaign Council Sheikh (Prince) Suleiman Momoh in his welcome address stated the resolve of the Imams in Edo North to support the POI/GANI project.

He added that they were grateful to Allah for this Favour in the person of Mallam Gani Audu.

The Wife of the Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, Hajia Nana Gani Audu in her remarks added that ,"my husband and I are overwhelmed with the support and prayers we are getting from the Muslim community in Edo State and that alone is a big motivation for us".

Alhaji Yakubu Musa aka Yakson also expressed readiness of the Muslims to vote the duo of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu & Mallam Gani Audu come September 19.

The Secretary of Muslim Support Committee, Edo Apc Campaign council, Comr Abdulsallam Muhammad who was also at the meeting, gave gratitude to Allah over the emergence of a Muslim Christian ticket, a project he said the Muslims have longed for since the inception of democracy in 1999. According to him, Edo state has never produced a Muslim deputy governor over the years of democracy in the state, and that this is an ample opportunity for the Muslims to actualize that goal, hence the need for the Muslims to come out en masse to support & vote their brother in faith, Mallam Gani Audu, who is not only a Muslim but a devoted Mallam.

The meeting also had in attendance, the Chairman of the Imam council, Alhaji Musa Zekeriyya, Alhaji Suleiman Ukashat and other eminent Muslim personalities in Edo North.

*PDP Governors’ Forum Call for Credible Edo, Ondo Governorship Elections a Smokescreen: APC*

A recent communique issued by the PDPe Governors’ Forum enjoined the President, INEC and security agencies to play an impartial role in forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo

For a Party whose stock-in-trade remains cloning of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), stealing card readers, voter intimidation, thuggery and vote buying as witnessed during the 2019 General Elections the PDP's call is dubious and a smokescreen for their real and sinister intentions

The real issue is how the Edo state treasury has been criminally converted to a political slush fund as exposed by the widely reported faceoff between Governor  Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu over release of funds for the PDP governorship campaign.

Again, as chairman of the Edo State PDP governorship Campaign Council, the violence being threatened by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike ahead of the September 19 Edo governorship election are the real issues.

Wike has promised to "make sure that everything needed is done" to foist the PDP governorship candidate on the good people of Edo State.

There are already credible reports of Wike's plan to import thugs from neighbouring states to achieve their rigging plot.

We reiterate that he will not succeed. We stand with the good people of Edo state in calling on our security services not to allow the PDP and Wike turn Edo state into a killing field.

Our security services must do everything to stop the PDP's plan to unleash violence, intimidate voters and buy votes during the election.

Come September 19, votes will count and the will of the Edo electorate will prevail.

Edo 2020: Ize-Iyamu promises legitimate jobs for youths

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Edo Guber election, has assured voters that his administration will end the menace of thuggery in Edo State through the creation of jobs and rehabilitation of young persons without skill and education for proper reintegration into the society.

Ize-Iyamu who gave this assurance while receiving PDP decampess from Ovia North East LGA, said the problem of thuggery can be conclusively solved with adequate rehabilitation and provision of legitimate jobs and engagement.

He dismissed rumors that he was supportive of thuggery, stressing that only assigned government officials wearing uniforms will be permitted to collect taxes.

In his words, “I don’t support thuggery and the oppression of our people, only government officials wearing uniforms will be permitted to collect taxes when voted into office.”

“We must look for jobs for the thugs in the motor parks and markets. You cannot solve one problem and create another problem in the long run”, he said.

Ize-Iyamu also promised the decampees that his administration will revamp the Colleges in the LGA and ensure the inauguration of all members-elect denied representation by the incumbent because, without effective representation of the State in the legislative arm, development cannot take place.
