And the failure of All Promises Cancelled, APC? Is it real or imagined?
How much subsidy do you estimate APC is forcing you to pay for their massive corruption in the oil sector
anonimi: Petrol should never cost more than N70 per litre, says APC
January 19, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.
On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.
But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.
It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.
Truthfully my state had water when it was governed by progressive UPN politicians who Buhari locked up for corruption in 1984, after his only successful coup against democratic institutions at the local, state and federal levels.
Unlike the clueless Ayédèrú atọhunrinwa progreThieves with their lootocracy master plan.
Osariemen12: All hail the APC for the wonderful work of road construction.
Should we also hail APC for the wonderful magic of using pictures of concrete road to pay the subsidy forced on us, due to the massive corruption in Tinubu's oil sector
Please don't forget to share the wonderful format o.

anonimi: Nigeria: Pensioners Urge Tinubu to Pay Arrears
26 March 2003 This Day (Lagos)
Lagos — Pension teachers in Lagos State under the aegis of Teacher Pensioners of Nigeria (TEPAN) have urged Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review his stance on paying the harmonised three year old outstanding pension allowance or risk losing their votes.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TEPAN, Mr. Ayodabo 'Lade, accused Tinubu of failing to pay the arrears to teachers on their correct pension grade since the year 2000, contrary to what was obtainable in other five States of the South-west controlled by the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
obembet: Some governors in Nigeria have performed exceptionally well in the past three years and truly deserve re-election.
Many people believe campaigns today are filled with propaganda and empty promises. However, a few governors have focused more on delivering results than making noise. These are leaders who have kept their promises and shown visible impact in their states.
Putting aside sentiment, tribe, or political party, which current governors have genuinely earned a second term without even needing to campaign?
Source: Obembe Tosin
Since 1999 no governor has performed EXCEPTIONALLY well.
One can confidently say that NONE of the150 or so governors of the 36 states in the past 27 years has performed well.
How many of them provided basic government services and utilities to all residents of their state? Services like free education for all children. Utilities like water supply to all households.
Clearly, none of them has done anything near what Jakande did in just four years before he was jailed by Buhari. None!!!
Splashme: The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.
Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.
The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.
Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”
The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.
Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.
He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?
IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.
........especially since Jagaban confused us to make his 2011 expired soldier president four years later, so he he could have his own turn at worsening inflation, corruption, insecurity etc.

chisomkachy: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the alleged money laundering suit it filed at the Federal High Court against Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
Naija News understands that the anti-graft did not give any particular reason for its application for withdrawal.
Following the application to withdraw, Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the ‘lien/Post No Debit’ placed on Obasa’s three accounts in Standard Chartered Bank.
The accounts are (US Dollars) 0001852063; (Current) 0001852056 and (Saving) 5002309624.
The judge also set aside the ex-parte orders he made on September 15, 2020, which led to the freezing of the accounts.
Recall that the court on September 15, 2020, granted an interim order freezing Obasa’s accounts following the EFCC’s application in a suit marked FHC/LCS/1064/2020.
The agency had said it was investigating the Speaker for the alleged offences of conspiracy, diversion of funds, abuse of office and money laundering.
But Justice Oweibo, on August 16, 2023, heard the application to unfreeze the accounts in his chamber.
During the hearing, the EFCC was represented by Mr. Sulaiman I. Sulaiman, while Obasa was represented by Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN).
The EFCC lawyer told the court that the application to unfreeze the accounts was pursuant to Section 44(2)(K) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Sections 26, 29 and 34 (1) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004, and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
Section 44 of the Constitution concerns constitutional rights to property.
Justice Oweibo held: “It is hereby ordered that an order is hereby granted to the respondent/applicant setting aside the ex-parte orders of this court made on the 15th day of September 2020 upon the ex-parte motion of the Applicant/ Respondent in relation the funds of the Respondent/Applicant domiciled in the accounts stated in the following schedule:

anonimi: How Indorama sustains manufacturers, boosts Nigeria’s FX earnings
Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL) has emerged as a major value creator in the Nigerian economy. It is responsible for the survival, growth and sustenance of many manufacturing companies in Nigeria today. A large number of plastic and allied firms depend on the Eleme-based company for petrochemical resins (or polymer resins) which serve as their raw materials.
The petrochemical company is just one of the several subsidiaries of Indorama-Nigeria Group, which also comprises Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited (IEFCL), Indorama PET Nigeria Limited, and Indorama Port Operations.
Since Indorama Corporation of Indonesia became core investor in the old Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited (EPCL) in 2006 through privatisation programme of the Federal Government, the group has become a game changer in the Nigerian economy.
The petrochemical company has solved the major challenge facing a number of manufacturers— poor access to raw materials. Rather than scramble for foreign exchange to import inputs, the company ensures that manufacturers have access to their critical raw materials, enabling them to save costs and improve margins.
The major resins used by plastic and allied companies are polyethylene and polypropylene. Indorama produces about 45 grades of these products for various industries. About 600 of such companies in Nigeria depend on IEPL for their survival. They are estimated to have over 90,000 workers.

“For people that don’t want to use nylon, they have a special bucket that they use after which they pour it inside the canal too.

Deltafirstson: Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.
In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.
Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.
Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.
At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.
However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.
“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

Defence coucel objected rightfully citing a section of the constitution and high profile cases (eg Adeleke vs Oyetiola ) why video evidence is non admissible Prosecution lawyers cites section 4 of the Exhibit act in arguing that the video has already been admitted , more so the maker of the video , Giwa (first defendant ) was before the court.. Most importantly , The judge ruled that objection to tendering video evidence ought to have been raised before it ( video evidence) was admitted .
The video - contains visuals and audio of Barrister Victor Giwa allegedly accusing the Judiciary of corruption . Funny that , seeing as his lawyers are against the video to be played in court . Senator Iyabo Obasanjo in a letter to her father accused him of having an egoistic craving for power and living a life where only men of low esteem and intellect thrive.
In the 11-page letter dated December 16, 2013 exclusively obtained by Vanguard, Iyabo accused her father of orchestrating a third term for himself as president, cruelty to family members, abandonment of children and grandchildren, and also, a legendary reputation of maltreatment of women.
Iyabo who forswore further political engagements in Nigeria denied any political motive for her missive, and described Nigeria as a country where her father and his ilk have helped to create a situation where smart, capable people bend down to imbeciles to survive. She particularly noted her experience as chairman of the Senate Committee on Health when she led the committee on a retreat appropriated for in the budget only for her to be prosecuted for it.

U can easily predict Nigerians
We can easily predict Yorubalokan city boy and his senior brother who failed to secure his 3rd term agenda despite bribing NASS members with Ghana must go bags of money. Thanks to Atiku for his leadership of other democratic heroes in the effort.
We can’t easily predict northerners and their south south fellow compatriots going by this list.
Brazil doctors earn approx. USD 2,800 - USD 5,300 or approx 65000 dollars annually, so that falls into op range.
Now concerning Nigeria
If we was to pay doctors 50000 dollars yearly, and there are 40000 doctors practicing here, that would be two billion dollars yearly. Our health budget is 1.82 billion dollars us.
In other words, it's not possible to do what op wants unless Nigeria changes how it's economy is run so that we make even more money.
@Tunaji
What is the wage gap between doctors and politicians in these other countries
nairalanda1: The problem is, are we ready to pay the kind of money they pay abroad at home that would enable them to build world class hospitals...and crucially train more doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc.?
Buhari died in the London clinic. Standard admisison there starts at 1000-2000 pounds per night per room. We could replicate the clinic here in Nigeria...but how many Nigerians are willing to pay that money so that the clinic can maintain standards like they do oversease?
Nigerians do not want to pay tax, do not want to pay high fees, and somehow assume that revenue from 2 million bpd can feed 230 million people without corruption.
The honest truth is that Nigerians go to hospitals oversease where people pay the price for those oversease hospitals to work. So, we go there to benefit from other people's sweat...meanwhile we won't pay the same price in nigeria, won't pay enough tax for more medical schools to train doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physio, and other allied medical staff. We won't pay the world class fees they pay there....and yet we somehow expect world class at home?
And the annoying thing is someone is going to quote me and say I dey support government. No. Government in Nigeria has failed...and they should do better in getting more revenue from other things than just oil. But even then, selling cash crops and minerals won't yield the revenue we need to be a prosperous enough to stop medical tourisim. World class costs money. The day we realize that, we go have good hospitals here.
The UK where many of us go to...spent 280 billion pounds on their NHS last year. And people dey complain that money is too small . Nigeria budget for the whole country no reach 60 billion pounds. And somebody expects world class?
(And the thing that annoys me is that tinubu data boys then, and obideint data boys now will make this the point of criticism...but won't address the funding issue)
What funding issue is there to address when APC pretenders are worse rogues than their PDP counterparts but you shy away from calling the worse looters out?
Was funding and looting the Aso Rock clinic an issue during the 16 years of less corrupt PDP, as it has been under A-looter Propaganda Congress, APC
Tinubu and APC are evil people, especially to Kanu’s region.
Why do you think that they are like that towards southeastern Nigeria

Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

Tambaya has been declared wanted by the police and he is said to be capable of communicating in Hausa, Fulfude and Pidgin English.

Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.
Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."
While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.
He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.
anonimi: How Indorama sustains manufacturers, boosts Nigeria’s FX earnings

The absolute lack of shame in the Nigerian political space is something to marvel
What shame is there among 200 million Nigerians who use zoning and rotation to share national cake along ethnoreligious lines in local, state and federal governments
