This is the simplest explanation. It's also likely the most correct explanation. Once fuel subsidies were removed, ride prices went through the roof and patronage dropped.
If roads are worse now than when PDP gave us cheap fuel and cheap dollars with less debt burden then what is Tinubu doing with our billions of dollars subsidy savings and greater debt burden?

Is the master strategist of a-looter balablu bulaba propaganda politics just stealing all the money?

What Tinubu and APC can’t destroy does not exist.
11 years of change and 3 years of reform with subsidy removal TWICE along with huge debt cum tax burden on people, why should we have roads worse than when PDP gave us cheap petrol and cheap dollars without piling up debt?

Every religion is politics, not just Islam.

Shariah is NOT Islamic constitution. It is the judicial system for islam.

2,000 Unity College workers get relief as FG resumes salary arrears payment
30 August 2026

The Federal Government has resumed the payment of three years’ outstanding salary arrears owed to teachers and education officers in the Federal Unity Colleges.

Findings by The Guardian revealed that more than 2,000 affected workers began receiving the payments on August 28, 2026, following years of waiting for the government to clear the backlog.

The affected employees were among those recruited into the Federal Government Unity Colleges between 2019 and 2021, whose salaries subsequently accumulated into arrears.

Elderly people detest staircases. Try not to do that. It makes me wonder when people build mansions and include so many things, they don't remember that what we need in this life are very simple things.

African architecture was designed for simple and functional living but we foolishly copied the West 🤡

The ones that went to school and got European, American and Asian education never took a second to think about their own way of life. Instead, they got brainwashed and used their left hand to point to their ancestors 🤡

Do you know African homes are so well planned that they already took care of slips and falls and clutter before oyinbo brainwashed you6? I say it here that I often laugh when I see NL members abuse Ibadan because of the brown roof and they want me to be happy with skyscrapers because in their own mind, that's modernity 🤡 Have you thought about functionality? Durability? Suitability? Environmental compatibility?

We Africans will continue to suffer for our mumunity because we want to be like everyone else but ourselves!

Our education is a wasted one because we took other people's things and made them ours. We lack identity and are not proud of it. We want to copy everyone else and we spend so much time learning about others but we ignore our own stories and why we did what we did 🤡

Imagine if your elders were living in the village (what you call the village), do you think you will need this post? Why do you think most old people retired to the villages? Hint: community!
If oyinbos lived in villages that grew to be cities and towns, then why should we not evolve equally instead of birthing children that are lost to them, working to increase the development gap between our two races huh

Nigeria: Pensioners Urge Tinubu to Pay Arrears

26 March 2003

Lagos — Pension teachers in Lagos State under the aegis of Teacher Pensioners of Nigeria (TEPAN) have urged Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review his stance on paying the harmonised three year old outstanding pension allowance or risk losing their votes.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TEPAN, Mr. Ayodabo 'Lade, accused Tinubu of failing to pay the arrears to teachers on their correct pension grade since the year 2000, contrary to what was obtainable in other five States of the South-west controlled by the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

You would think that a man who has a brain should think before talking but that's not common with APC.
Atiku also owns Intels with his Italian partner. The company was established in 1982, which was 17 years before he became VP.

It is likely that he ceded some shares to Tinubu as payment to use his AC party platform in 2007 after Obasanjo frustrated him out of PDP for killing his 3rd term agenda for life president.

It is however possible that Tinubu was broke before he became governor following the seizure of his $460,000 drug money, which made him squat in Gbenga Daniel's Kresta laurel office when he ran his 1999 campaign after he replaced Engr. Funsho Williams as AD candidate.

NPA gives Atiku, Tinubu’s Intels two weeks to pay $48m
Published on January 31, 2018

The face-off between the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Intels Nigeria Limited (Intels), a company co-owned by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar is not over yet.

This is as the NPA has handed a two-week ultimatum to the company to remit an outstanding $48 million that ought to have been paid into the agency’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) in 2017.

Intels, a logistics and facilities services provider in the maritime and oil and gas sectors, was co-founded by Gabriele Volpi, an Italian national, and former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku has since sold down most of his interest in the company to the former Lagos State governor and APC national leader Bola Tinubu.

Do not forget that during one of ASUI's strike when public universities of Nigeria were on strike, Mr A Atiku opened a private university.

In 2003, public universities in Nigeria shut down for six months because of a major strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Teachers were protesting over low pay and a lack of school funding. During this exact shutdown, Nigeria’s Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, got an official government license in 2003 to open his own private school, called the ABTI American University of Nigeria (now AUN) in Yola. While ordinary students were stuck at home with no classes, work on Atiku’s private campus moved fast. Builders held a groundbreaking ceremony in October 2004, and the university welcomed its first students in 2005.

This timeline caused a lot of anger that lasts to this day. Critics point out that the government failed to fix public schools while its top two leaders were opening expensive private ones. For example, President Olusegun Obasanjo also opened his own private school, Bells University of Technology, in 2005. Atiku's team defends the university, saying it creates local jobs and offers scholarships. Still, the events of 2003 to 2005 remain a clear example of how Nigeria's public education suffered while elite private schools grew.
Were primary and secondary school teachers also on strike in 2002 when he launched his schools?

How did Obi and Tinubu use UBEC that was established in 1999 to provide matching federal funds to help states achieve nine years free and compulsory education for all children? What changes occurred to enrolment and teacher:student ratio in Lagos and Anambra during their eight year tenures?

The same person who failed in his 2014 attempt to be Anambra godfather to his Fidelity Bank protege, who subsequently kicked him out of their regional party, APGA?

If Atiku did not rescue him from political wilderness five years after, where would he be now?

newsbook:
Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.

Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.

Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.

Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.

But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.

He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.

Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.

These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.

The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.

On the actual sum the former Governor claimed he left behind, Governor Obiano made it clear that he inherited liability of about N127 billion debt from him in contracts awarded and other responsibilities, which he has been religiously undertaking in the spirit of continuity.

He said Obi flagged off several roads even on the day he was leaving office and saddled him with the burden of paying for it, but he assured the people that he has his eyes on the ball and will not allow anything to distract him from fulfilling his promises.

The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh said APGA as the political spirit of Ndigbo, has in the past three and half years, availed Anambra good governance at its best, reminding the people that the upcoming guber election was not about Willie Obiano but about ensuring that the state remained free from political godfatherism.

A former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech said that at this time, the State needs a tested hand like Governor Obiano who has the experience and expertise to effectively steer her affairs.

Four African cities have been ranked among the world’s 10 least liveable urban centres in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Global Liveability Index 2026, reflecting the continued impact of insecurity, pressure on public services, infrastructure gaps and governance challenges.

The annual index assessed 173 cities across five indicators: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure. Each city received a score out of 100 based on how well it performs across these areas.

This year’s rankings placed Harare (Zimbabwe), Lagos (Nigeria), Algiers (Algeria) and Tripoli (Libya) in the global bottom 10, alongside cities affected by conflict, economic challenges and weak infrastructure.

Nigeria’s ‘Biggest Economic Threat’ Is Unemployment, But Data to Guide Policy Missing for 14 Months

Nigeria’s top economic risk for the 2026 economic year is unemployment but the country has not published any official labour statistics to measure its rate since November 2024, FIJ has found.

On Wednesday, the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report identified lack of economic opportunity and unemployment as Nigeria’s leading threat for the 2026 economic year.

The report also identified inadequate public services, economic downturn, inequality, and crime as the next four threats to economic stability in 2026.

Unemployment is serious enough for international observers but the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has not released Nigeria’s Labour Force statistics, however controversial, since the second quarter of 2024.

SILENCE SINCE METHODOLOGY REDESIGN
The NBS has been in the crossfire before for publishing Labour Force Data late in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, the bureau attributed the delay to an overhaul of its survey methodology.

At the time, NBS said it wanted to align Nigeria’s labour statistics with international best practices and ensure data quality and sustainability.

But the resulting data caused chaos. According to the NFLS published at that time (q1, 2024), only about 4.3% of Nigerians were unemployed. The data introduced new types of labour categorisation in the report.

Per the new method, anyone who works even minimal hours in a week is considered “employed”. The reliability of official figures was questioned by labour unions, business groups and even economists.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), for instance, described the reported employment statistics as unrealistic. Chris Onyeka, the NLC’s National Assistant General Secretary, called the report a “voodoo document” and a “fabrication designed to mislead the public”.

Similarly, Gabriel Idahosa, President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), said, “The technical improvement in the employment rate is more of a way that employment is now calculated; but the reality is that the economy is not looking like an economy where unemployment is significantly reducing.”

Since then, the NBS has not made any attempt to publish labour data.

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.

There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.

Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.

The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.

While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.

“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.

“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.

“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”

Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

chisomkachy:
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

Did they build new power plants? New roads? Develop agriculture or mining? Tinubu is not close to being the source of your problems.
Are these the new roads built by Tinubu who saved billions of dollars from subsidy removal?

What Tinubu and APC can’t destroy does not exist.
11 years of change and 3 years of reform with subsidy removal TWICE along with huge debt cum tax burden on people, why should we have roads worse than when PDP gave us cheap petrol and cheap dollars without piling up debt?

You served the father and now serving the son. Politicians have reduced leadership in Nigeria to family affair.
Why do we Nigerians allow such?

Is it just tribalistic zoning and rotation system for local, state and federal positions to share the national cake of corruption? Or we are just as greedy and selfish as the leaders who emerge from among us?

If you plan a trip for a journey and the trip failed, will you say you only planned it or you blame others?
Atiku has no moral standing to talk here at all.
Watch this video he made the claim himself.

Does his opponent, Tinubu have any moral standing to talk on this or any other thing about governance huh

The claim he made must be one of his lousy ways of getting back at Obasanjo for the baseless trash in his book.

20 states is an insult to the president. The president will win the entire South West, South South, North Central and half of all the states in North West and East. Anyway, the projection is still okay as long as it is not Obi that is winning. We cannot afford to lose the great achievements made under the administration of PBAT. Obi is grossly incompetent, dull and too shallow to even be a minister in Nigeria.
Are these examples of his great achievements from the billions of dollars subsidy savings huh
