The defeated APC candidate for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and former Governor of the state, Chief Godwill Akpabio has moved to save his battered image occasioned by the recent discovery of diverted medical equipment meant for his constituents in his apartment by men of ICPC.

Already, findings show that the defeated Senator has perfected plans to visit Onna and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas respectively to “donate” the recovered medical equipment.

Investigation shows that Akpabio is slated to visit Awa -Iman, the home town of Governor Udom Emmanuel, on Monday, an act many believe is targeted at spiting the Governor.

Meanwhile, the youth of the area have vowed to resist Chief Akpabio , questioning why a man who did not donate anything to Onna people while in power, will ever imagine donating recovered medical equipment to them.

“We think this is an affront on us. Why would Senator Akpabio bring the medical equipment recovered by the ICPC to Awa? Is this not provocation taken too far? We will resist his planned visit vehemently.

“Awa is not a dumping ground for recovered medical equipment” a youth leader who craved anonymity had stated.

Akpabio is also said to plan a visit to Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, the home local government of Senstor Albert Akpan, to also donate part of those equipment to the people of the area.

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki wife’s Betsy yesterday
rose to defend her husband, describing the crisis in the
state as “a fight between light and darkness”.
Speaking at the weekend in Benin, the Edo State capital,
where she was decorated as patron of the Nigerian Girls
Guides Association (NGGA), Mrs. Obaseki said light must
continue to prevail in the state.
Urging women to mentor more women for a better society,
Mrs. Obaseki promised that her husband would ensure the
resurrection of good structure and infrastructure that were
ignored and buried.
She noted that the NGGA would be revived in the state.
Her words: “All of these must change and that is why we are
here. We will get more women to join the movement. We
will use the Girls Guide to imbibe the spirit of excellence.

“Darkness can never overcome light. Light has come to stay
and will continue to prevail. This light is not about any
personality.
“They are fighting for the soul of Edo State. In this state, we

darkness. Light will always cause darkness to flee; light has
come to stay. It will come to prevail and Edo will move
ahead.”
The Commissioner of NGGA, Mrs. Enebeli-Upkor Mary, said
the group has a mandate to build the moral upbringing of
girls to make them relevant in the society.
