Politics / It’s Time To Arrest Jonathan — Lagos APC by ant1vitus: 9:58am On Oct 28, 2016
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has criticised former President Goodluck Jonathan for rising to the defence of his embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

In a statement on Thursday, the party said Mr. Jonathan’s claims had proved beyond doubts that he knew everything about the arms purchase scandal as well as other corruption cases that happened in his regime.

“Even as we concede that Jonathan is on a desperate bid to rehabilitate himself, we wouldn’t believe that a former president should be so contemptuous of the intelligence of Nigerians as to give the kind of defence he gave to Sambo Dasuki,” the Lagos APC said in a statement by Joe Igbokwe, its publicity secretary.

“We wonder what Jonathan makes of the horrid details that are emanating from the Dasukigate issue with shocking evidences, confessions and even refunds made by those that participated in that monumental corruption.”

While addressing a gathering on youth entrepreneurship at the Oxford Union, in the United Kingdom, Mr. Jonathan said it was impossible for Mr. Dasuki, a retired army colonel, to have stolen $2.2 billion as claimed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“They said the National Security Adviser stole $2.2 billion,” Mr. Jonathan said while responding to a question about the alleged missing arms procurement fund now referred to as Dasukigate by the Nigerian media.

“I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion. We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2 billion, so where did we get the money to buy all those things?”

The APC said there should be a limit to defending “such hefty corruption acts”, which greatly compromised the nation’s security and led to the loss of thousands of precious Nigerian lives.

The party also cautioned Mr. Jonathan not to continue to play on the intelligence of Nigerians who, they said, is still smarting from the horrendous cases of corruption that were perpetrated under him.

“To claim that Dasuki and his partners did not steal the arms purchase fund reveals the inner beliefs of Jonathan and explains that he is intrinsically webbed to corruption,” Mr. Igbokwe said.

“Even while he is perceived as pathologically corrupt and his regime seen as the most corrupt in Nigeria’s chequered history, one would have expected Jonathan to be cautious in seeking to advance very childish and inadmissible exculpation of his subordinates for glaring acts of corruption.

“We had expected that jJonathan would have striven to water down the lowly impression held of him by Nigerians and the international community by not deciding to be so patronising to clear cases of corruption by his subordinates. But with each day, Jonathan continues to baffle by his chameleonic acts.

“By Jonathan’s cheap defence of Sambo Dasuki, we believe time has come for the security agencies to pick up Jonathan to tell the nation all that he knows of the many cases of corruption that happened under him.”

The party said it believed the former president knows more than he admits about the “unseemly corruption” that he presided over and should be brought in for questioning.

“We don’t believe any thing shields Jonathan from prosecution for corruption as we believe it is becoming indefensible for Jonathan to pretend he was innocent of the corrupt acts of his subordinates,” Mr. Igbokwe continued.

“While we condemn Jonathan’s cheeky defence of Dasuki, even in the face of monumental damning evidences, we want to state that the anti corruption war is incomplete until Jonathan is prosecuted for he continually proves, by such defence of his corrupt subordinates, that he knew everything that transpired in his corruption-ridden regime.”

Politics / We Will Diversify Nigeria's Economic- Denmark by ant1vitus: 7:21pm On Oct 27, 2016
Denmark is committed to supporting Nigeria to diversify its economy from the over-reliance on crude oil to other viable and sustainable sectors, Amb. Torben Gettermann has said.
Gettermann, in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, said Nigeria should be exporting finished products to the West African countries.
“What we would like to see and what we do see and where we want to help as much as possible is in the diversification of the economy.
“Nigeria should make factories that can produce products not only for the local markets in Nigeria but also to export.
“This is because, that’s the way you can really make a change in the way people see Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, Denmark does not have natural resources but still produces and exports to other countries.
“We don’t have raw materials; we have some oil but that has almost come up from the ground, I think we have about 10 years oil left.
“So what do we have in Denmark? We have our brain, we have our education, we have people who come up with new ideas and we live on export.
“If we don’t export, we will not exist. So we have an export that is huge compared to our size but that’s important.
“Agricultural products, hi-tech, pharmaceuticals, you name it; all of these form part of the basis of our exports, which basically is our survivor.”
According to him, Nigeria should also learn from Denmark by exporting finished products and not just raw materials.
“We will like to see Nigeria exporting all kinds of high quality good that could meet the consumer needs not only in West Africa but around the world.
“Go out; fight the market for your products. That is what we want to see in the diversification of the Nigerian economy and that’s where we want to help.”
On the Denmark-Nigeria trade volume, Gettermann said that the Embassy was formally inaugurated in Nigeria in 2014 and that the economic ties between the two countries were growing rapidly.
He said that the volume of Danish export to Nigeria in 2015 was about two billion Danish Krona, while the import from Nigeria was about five billion.
“We were paying so much on buying so much more from you. So we have an imbalance.
“You export more to us than we export to Nigeria, which your government should be happy about. So that counts in your favour.
“But right now, we have, unfortunately, seen downturn both in terms of import and export,” he said.

Religion / Bag Of Rice Will Sell For N5, 000, Fuel For N30 – Prophet Okeowo by ant1vitus: 6:55pm On Oct 24, 2016
Prophet Ade Okeowo of Word of Liberty Evangelical Ministry, Ikorodu, Lagos State, has revealed that Nigeria will soon experience a turnaround as prices on commodities will crash in no time, stating that God did not, however, specify that the revelation would come to pass under President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.
He specifically mentioned that God told him the cost of bag of rice and fuel, will be drastically reduced.
He made this revelation in a chat with Encomium, urging Nigerians to stop casting blames on President Buhari, as he needed time to fix the country...
He said, “That’s what God has revealed to me. Listen to me attentively; I am not speaking my words but God’s.
“Now, people buy rice N25, 000 per bag but God told me that we’re going to buy a bag of rice as cheap as N5, 000. A US dollar will exchange for as low as N150 and fuel will sell for as low as N30 or N40 per litre. That’s what God said will happen in this country.”
Asked if his prophecies will come to pass during Buhari’s administration, the cleric said, “God didn’t tell me that one but He revealed to me all of these and more beautiful things will happen after all the pain, but Buhari’s efforts will lead to that.
“Nigeria will be forced to a stage of break up but God will intervene
