Attention NOUN Students

Starting from the 2026 Second Semester (2026_2), if you do not complete your registration before the registration deadline, you will have to pay a late registration fee.

Previously, if the University extended the registration period, students could still register by paying only their normal school fees. However, that is no longer the case.

Going forward, once the official registration deadline has passed, any student who registers during the extended period will be required to pay:

1. The normal school fees, and
2. The Late Registration Fee.

To avoid paying this additional charge, make sure you complete your registration before the official registration deadline.

This is to inform you that the 2026_1 Pen-on-Paper Examinations will commence on Monday, 4th May, 2026.
Please ensure you have the following:

1. A duly signed Examination Clearance

2. Your Student ID Card

3. The Final Pen-on-Paper Timetable (to help you plan effectively)

Kindly note the following important guidelines:

a. Avoid examination malpractice. Any student caught will be booked, and disciplinary action would be taken.

b. Be punctual. Students will not be permitted into the examination hall 30 minutes after the commencement of the exam.

c. Dress decently. Shorts, ripped jeans, sagging trousers, and crop tops are strictly prohibited. Students dressed indecently will not be allowed to sit for their exams.

d. Obey all examination rules and regulations as stated in your agreement form. Follow the instructions of invigilators, and do not be rude or disruptive during the examination.

NOUN HOLDS 15TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY APRIL 18

The 15th Convocation Ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has been scheduled to hold from April 17 - 18, 2026, according to an announcement by the Registrar of the university, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi.

The Pre-Convocation Lecture, which will hold on April 17 by 11:00am, at the conference centre of the university, Jabi, Abuja, will to be delivered by the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON.

The announcement said the ceremony will be conducted both on-site and off-site as those billed to attend the on-site event were urged to be seated not later than 9am at the university’s Convocation Arena, Jabi, Abuja.

The Convocation Ceremony, where the graduands would be awarded various degrees, will hold on April 18 by 10am at the Convocation Arena of the university, the announcement said.

It added that only First-Class graduands, award winners, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) graduands, Master’s degree graduands, Doctorate and Honorary Doctorate graduands are to attend the on-site ceremony at the Convocation Arena, university headquarters in Abuja.

All other first degree graduands from all study centres, including those in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shall participate in the ceremonies at their respective state capital study centres, the announcement explained.

Graduands are hereby informed that certificates would be made available for collection immediately after the convocation ceremonies at the university headquarters, Abuja and at their respective state capital study centre.

Additionally, graduands from study centres within Abuja are to collect their certificates at the university’s Abuja Model Study Centre, Kubuwa, Abuja, it added.

Meanwhile, graduands and other interested participants are to join from their respective state capital study centres via the university’s livestream platform at https://www.livestream.nou.edu.ng

MANDATORY REGISTRATION OF DES303, DES707 & DES807 FOR UDG, PGD AND MSC


We now have 3 compulsory DES COURSES as follows:

DES303 - All undergraduates in 300 level upward must register this course and do their community project before they can graduate.

DES707 - All PGD students must register this course and act accordingly.

DES807 - All Masters students are advised to register this course on the portal nouonline.nou.edu.ng

Note: There is no presentation nor examination for these courses. All you have to do is work on your community project and upload the documents on elearn.nou.edu.ng and wait for grading.

UPDATED REGISTRATION GUIDELINES


The following updates have been made for all students in addition to the already existing ones, and these must be properly disseminated to all students to guide their registration process for the new session.

1. Registration procedure
• All students are required to visit their portal for course registration at https://www.nouonline.nou.edu.ng/ and follow the instructions provided for registration.
• Upon completion of the exercise, every student should have a printout for his/her records and for clearance during end-of-semester examinations.
• Registration is activated only if there are sufficient funds in the student’s
e-wallet to cover the cost of the courses registered.

2. Prerequisite Courses
These are courses every student must take and pass before proceeding to subsequent courses.
• Prerequisite and requisite courses must not be registered for concurrently. e.g. LIN111 is a prerequisite of LIN112(requisite). Therefore, all prerequisite courses must be taken and passed before registering for requisite courses

3. Core Courses
• All core courses of a previous semester must be registered for before registering for the corresponding semester
• All outstanding core courses in the previous semester must be registered for first before registering for the current semester courses, subject to the maximum number of credits allowed.

Kindly note that these guidelines will take effect from the 2026_1 Academic session.

We have observed that some students are facing challenges logging in to the LMS or accessing the TMAs. Please note the following points:
1. We have lifted the suspension on all suspended accounts, so users should be able to log in now. Please try logging in to the platforms again with your usual details.
2. For courses that are grouped into geopolitical zones, if you are facing any challenge contributing to discussion forums to attempt the TMAs, just go straight to attempt the TMAs without contributing to the discussion forums.
3. For other courses, ensure you contribute to the discussion forums 1-6, so you can attempt the TMAs
4. If any of your courses do not show TMA 3, those are pilot courses and your contribution to the Discussion Forum 6 will be graded as TMA3.

In order for you to increase your chances of getting NELFUND LOAN, you are advised to kindly login to your student portal (https://www.nouonline.nou.edu.ng/) and upload your JAMB REGULARIZATION SLIP.

Steps:

* Login to your student portal
* The menu will pop-up (If it doesn't, refresh)
* Then upload your JAMB REGULARIZATION SLIP (Maximum File Size: 100KB)

In this respect, you are expected to do JAMB REGULARIZATION to increase your chances of getting NELFUND LOAN .

All postgraduate students whose project has been completed, approved, and certified by their supervisor are required to submit the full soft copy (from preliminary pages to references in one MS Word file) to:

This is to inform all Postgraduate (PG) students scheduled for virtual project defence to ensure they are adequately prepared with the following guidelines:

1. Functional Devices:

A fully charged laptop with a working camera and microphone.

A reliable smartphone as a backup device.

2. Stable Internet Connection:

Ensure you have access to a stable internet connection for uninterrupted participation.

3. Presentation Slides:

Well-organised PowerPoint slides saved in a compatible format.

A backup copy is saved on a USB drive or cloud storage.

4. Required Software:

Install the designated virtual meeting platform (e.g., Zoom) and test it beforehand.

Ensure you are familiar with the platform's screen-sharing features.

5. Professional Attire:

Dress in formal or professional attire appropriate for the defence or seminar.

7. Time Management:

Confirm the schedule and time of your session, arrive on time and log in promptly.

Prepare to adhere to the allocated time for your presentation.

8. Additional Materials:

Hard and soft copies of your project/report for reference.

A notepad and pen for taking notes during feedback sessions.
