VIEW SOURCE GURU GIST FORUM Trump would further praise the military for what he called a "brilliantly executed" operation. “Last night our brave special forces rescued an American hostage," he said as the crowd cheered and chanted "USA." “We had a mission set to a far-away land where they kidnapped an American citizen and the kidnappers wished they had never done it," Trump said, adding that there were zero American casualties. "The other side suffered greatly, I can tell you that," he said. Walton is the son of missionaries. He lives with his wife and young daughter on a farm near Massalata, a small village close to the border with Nigeria. The New York Times reports that the American and Nigerien officials had said that Walton was seized from his backyard on Monday in front of family members after assailants asked him for money. He offered them $40 and was then taken away by the armed gunmen on motorbikes. The captors would go on to demand nearly $1 million in ransom for his release. One American official said the assailants were criminals who intended to sell Walton to terrorist groups in the region. The operation was organized quickly with the assistance of officials in Niger and Nigeria, the official said. According to U.S. officials, the rescue started just after midnight local time when about 30 Navy commandos parachuted into the remote area where the kidnappers had taken Walton. Members of the rescue team hiked about three miles until they came upon the captors’ small encampment in a copse of scrubland bushes and trees. In the brief but intense firefight that ensued and with surveillance drones buzzing overhead, all but one of the half-dozen or so kidnappers were killed. One captor escaped into the night. Walton was not harmed in the gun battle, and he walked out to a makeshift landing zone, where a U.S. helicopter whisked him to safety. |

VIEW SOURCE GURU GIST FORUM Enough is enough in this country. Why would a nation be fighting it's future? ![]() This is very bad because the government cannot continue these belligerent attitudes towards the suffering masses called it's citizens. Nigeria looks more like a Jungle where no one has a right. Think about it if our youths are equiped with arms against the misled military, what do you think would become of our so called government? The president himself is such a useless fool with no sign of remorse and human sympathy. He is such a disgrace to this wonderful nation sorry to say. Just take a look at his speech on the ongoing peaceful protest and massacre of the innocent citizens, take a look at the zombie we call a president .It's so sad and a huge disappointment to we all who have suffered to cast our votes to people who do not care about our welfare. What kind of country is this ?I cry for Nigeria almost everyday because I know what we all are passing through in various angles. Does it actually mean that being a Nigerian is a punishment? Take a look at our so called forces in the military, that should be a shield to the citizens of the country are now being misled ignorantly by the so called Buhari's administration to commit atrocities. Dear Soldiers, Always remember that we all are one and should be in this together. Never allow yourselves be misled to what you know is wrong. The difference is just your uniform and the equiped arm and that shouldn't make you feel you're a above us your brother's and sisters in the country. When you're shooting, don't you think one of your relatives might be a target? By the way, it's wrong and against the law to shoot an unarmed enemy talk more of an innocent citizen. I'm in tears and this is not how it should be. Many street hawkers earn more than you soldiers and you are aware of that. This country is not worth dying for and you should always do what is right. Remember we all are in this together and most of you are father's and mother's with kids. Think about the future of your children and be wise. We are not shouting that what is holding us will let go of us but rather crying for the world to hear our voice. Dear Able Youths, It is not our fault that this government is treating us this way, but rather it seems to have been a wrong decision disguised as right. We are the future of this country and we have made them know that we are no longer fools. We have realized our mistakes and should be ready to carry out our rightful responsibilities. Let's love ourselves, work together and build a great nation. We are so dissapointed in our current government and should work hard so as to avoid this situation reoccurring again in the future. Let's build one mind and be our brothers keeper, and I assure you, Nigeria will be a great nation. May The Souls Of Our Departed Loved Ones Rest In Peace (Amen)

VIEW SOURCE TODAY, Nigeria is 60 years old as an independent state. Congratulations are in order! But truth be told, there is little to celebrate! Over the past 60 years, Nigeria has had a tortured history, always teetering on the edge of a precipice. Today, it verges on state failure. Even scarier, without radical change, it faces existential schisms. So, what’s wrong? Well, the starting point is to look at Nigeria’s creation and evolution. Just as a child’s accidents of birth and upbringing can affect his or her future, a country’s circumstances of birth and evolution can shape its destiny. The past matters! Yet, destiny is not immutable. Nations have changed the unfavourable trajectories of their destinies by taking radical actions in the right direction. The non-determinism of destiny gives me hope about Nigeria. It means that, despite its adverse birth defects and evolution, Nigeria can, with a rebirth, achieve its full potential, and make a great leap forward. But before we come to how Nigeria can change the course of its tortured and tension-prone history, we should first remind ourselves of the determinants of that history. |
