Education › SHOCKING: Liberia's University Entrance Exam Failed By Every Student Who Took It by Anuoluwap(op): 10:09am On Aug 27, 2013

Almost 25,000 students failed the
University of Liberia's admission
test, with examiners saying they
had a poor grasp of English and
"lacked enthusiasm"

Students in the UK think getting
into university here is tough.
But spare a thought for
candidates in Liberia - after every
single one of them failed this
year's university entrance exam.
Almost 25,000 students failed the
admissions test for the University
of Liberia - one of the African
country's two state-run
universities - meaning it will have
no first year students when the
new term begins in September.
A university official told the BBC
that students who took the test
did not have a basic grasp of
English and "lacked enthusiasm",
but the country's education
minister said she found it hard to
believe that not a single
candidate managed to pass.
Etmonia David-Tarpeh said she
would be meeting with officials
from the university to discuss the
dismal failure rate.
She acknowledged that there
were weaknesses in the
education system in Liberia,
which is still recovering from a
civil war which ended 10 years
ago, but said she had her doubts
that no one could have passed.
A spokesman for the university
said it would be standing by its
decision, and that the
government needed to do more
to improve student's knowledge
of English.

Politics › Jonathan Sacks Youth Minister by Anuoluwap(op): 9:45pm On Aug 26, 2013

President Goodluck Jonathan has terminated the appointment of the Youth Minister, Inuwa Abdulkadir. According to a statement released to the Media by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Anyim Pius Anyim in Abuja today, reason(s) for the termination of Abdulkadir’s sack as the Youth Minister was not stated. Meanwhile, there are indications that his sack is not unconnected with a path taken by the Sokoto State Governor, Magatarkada Wamako who recommended his appointment into the cabinet of President Jonathan. It would be recalled that Governor Wamako is among the 5 governors who have been consulting and have also openly kicked against Jonathan’s second term options.

Sir Seun, the Op is still right. Since the Islam section is created. Then a Christian section should be created. I know most of the threads are based on Christianity. Since there exists some other religion in Nigeria. I believe each should be represented by a section under Religion.

Sports › Tragedy In Malawi As Three National Football Players Die In Auto Crash by Anuoluwap(op): 11:00pm On Aug 25, 2013

Three players belonging
to the reigning Malawi
Presidential Cup champions,
Mafco, were killed in a road
accident Friday morning in the
central district of Nkhota Kota,
police have confirmed.
“We confirm the death of three
Mafco players and the injury of
three others,” Nkhota Kota police
spokesman Kaitano Lubrino told
PANA Friday.
Mafco, a Malawi Army outfit
based at the Malawi Defence
Forces training college in the
central lakeshore district of
Salima, was in Nkhota Kota facing
another Malawi Army team,
Moyale, based in the northern
city of Mzuzu, in a Carlsberg Cup
quarter final game. The game,
played on Wednesday, ended in a
one-all draw but Moyale won 3-1
in post-match penalties.
Mafco General Secretary Oscar
Lipenga said said the team
decided to stay on in Nkhota
Kota after the midweek game
because it had to fulfil other
fixtures in the top-flight Super
League.
“Six players left camp and went
out on a drinking binge after the
game and we suspended them
and ordered them to leave for
home,” he said.
Lipenga said they got a call in the
wee hours of Friday that there
was an accident and three of
their players died on the spot.
Lubrino, the Nkhota Kota police
spokesman, said the six left the
district late Thursday night in a
truck which was involved in
accident.
Lubrino identified the deceased
players as Sadan Magwere, Gift
Mphonde, Chifundo Phiri. The
injured players are Sailesi Phiri,
Jimmy Mzunga and Gift Soko,
according to Lubrino.
The police spokesman said driver
of the truck, Edwin Kalebu, told
police he had seven passengers
on board his truck. At around
midnight he was trying to
negotiate a curve when was
interrupted by a sign-post
indicating a breakdown in front
of him.
“This prompted him to divert
and, in the course, lost control of
the vehicle which overturned,”
he said.
Four people died on the spot
including the football players and
an assistant driver. The three
other players were rushed to a
nearby mission hospital.
Lipenga, the Mafco general
secretary, said the team was
shocked by the death of the
three players.
“These were key players in our
team,” he said.

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Jesus God? If Yes, Please Share Your Proof! by Anuoluwap(m): 10:20pm On Aug 25, 2013

At age 12 or so When he was left behind by Mary and Joseph he told them "why did you seek me? Do you not know that I should be in my Father's house? "When Jesus was to be betrayed by Judas; he took some of his disciples with him for prayer. Bt went alone to pray to his 'Father' . Again on the cross of calvary Jesus said, "Father forgive them for they do not know what they have done"
He said it with His own mouth what else? Or do you think he's refering to a non-existing Father?

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Jesus God? If Yes, Please Share Your Proof! by Anuoluwap(m): 10:08pm On Aug 25, 2013

Emusan: I believe you don't know who Jesus really is. This has been a major controversy and unknow mystery about Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the spoken-word of God, that's why Jesus said "I and my Father are one"

John made it clear that Jesus is God when he wrote "In the beginning was the WORD(Jesus), and the word(JESUS) was with God, and the word(JESUS) was GOD. John 1:1

Nobody can seperate your WORD from you.

Shalom!

Poems For Review › Is A House Really A Home? by Anuoluwap(op): 7:33am On Aug 25, 2013

My house my home;
Thou art given me a place to rest
my weary soul. Weary soul it is, for
I am in the land of my enemies; my
soul sobers and saddens but whenever
the thoughts of my house my
home comes to me I glare at the
glory of hope.
Hope it is for me; for my family
cheers my soul and it leaps up for
joy each time I remember my
house my home.
Friends! I call you now, come! And
lets reason together; Is a house really a home
when you feel lonely? Is a house really a
home when you can't find your
lost love?
Oh! There they come
again, the messengers of doom,
now no one to cheer my weary
soul; Is a house really a home
when cold comes and no one to
cuddle you? Is a house really a
home when you can't find the one
to bring smile on your face? Is a
house really a home when you are
lost and no one to put you
through? Is a house really a home
when no one utters, "papa"
"mama" ? Is a house
really a home when your loved
ones are gone?
Is a house really a home?

nlmonpoint: Some believe and preach this, pls friends how true is this cos many are confused: thinking about what Jesus told his people in Mark 12 vrs 29: pls share ur belief

Most people got it wrong. God the Father and Jesus the Son. Jesus preaches about his Father which is God but to be intimate with God you have to be close to the Son first. Both God and Jesus can be addressed as "Lord" because the word is a simple english even it is used to address Judges in the court of law.
NOTE: The book of Psalms is refering to God.

Politics › ASUU's Strike From A Political Perspective - A Nairalander's Thought by Anuoluwap(op): 8:33pm On Aug 23, 2013

Academic Staff Union of
Universities(ASUU) embarked on an indefinite strike on the 1st of July, 2013. The union stressed that they embarked on the strike not for personal gains but in order to make the federal government implement the 2009 agreement between the two bodies. Meanwhile, the FG declared to have settled ASUU but remaining the lecturers' allowances. However, ASUU has been offered 37billion for the allowances and the FG promising to settle them after they must have called off the strike and the FG having the resources to raise funds.
Hopes about calling the strike off was totally dashed when ASUU stated that they have pulled out of possible future meetings with the FG after over 10 meetings failed to yield positive results.
Several billions have been raised and proposed to the union.
Politically, President Goodluck Jonathan's bid for the presidency in 2015 may be at stake; with the recent rise of APC which promises to be a stronger political party that vowed to take over the presidency seat, and most youths in support of the newly formed APC, with the education sector also proving GEJ to be, "a kindergaten president"
But what ASUU should realise is that; the agreement between FG and ASUU was not negotiated under GEJ's administration. So, why not take it easy with the FG and continue with the meetings till a bargain is striked. Instead of jeopardising GEJ's second run for the presidency seat.
