OkCornel:The E-Branch dossier had notified the PM of an impending coup and had penciled down those who were to carry it out . Other than the Generals Coup that ousted Shagari, every other coup prior and that to come were carried out by junior and mid ranking officers. The coup that saw to Gowon seizing power from Ironsi was carried out by junior northern officers led by Murtala. The coup that ousted Gowon was carried out by mid ranking officers led by Shehu Yaradua. The coup that ousted Murtala was led by colonel's led by Dinka and the aim of the Dimka Middle belt Christian officers was to see to Gowon being reinstated as HoS. The only coup that was carried out solely for the benefits of those who orchestrated and carried out the plot was the mid ranking officer coup led by Gideon Okah that sought to displace the northern Muslim hegemony in the military . Every coup in Nigeria outside the Generals coup had at its core an ethnic agenda and it all started with the divisions caused in the military by the Jan 15 Ibo coup |
OkCornel:Now you are cherry picking . David Ejoor was a target for elimination on D-day of the coup . He narrowly escaped being murdered in Lagos and he escaped to Enugu to find another conspiracy to have him arrested by the civilian police and from there eliminated. He returned back to Lagos to meet a hostile Ironsi who by then knew Ejoor had come to a conclusion on what the coup was all about and who were being targeted. Ejoor also suffered a mutiny in Benin by officers under his command who were loyal to Ojukwu in Biafra and not him as Military Governor of the Midwest. Ademoyega was a useful idiot cajoled into joining a coup that had at its core an ethnic agenda. Ademoyega was out of the picture after Jan 15 and only came to realise his own folly like that of Banjo while sitting in a shared prison cell with ifeanjuna while Ejoor was out there thwarting the coup between Lagos and Enugu . As for your foolish thread that seeks to wash off the stink of an ethnic agenda by claiming that the murder of one lone Ibo man who refused to go along with the coup and the lie that it was Ironsi who notified the PM of an impending coup while doing nothing whatsoever within his powers and authority as the Head of the army to reign in the mutinous officers ,this is pure bullshit. Who in the top military heriachy did Ironsi share his inteligence report with? Was it the two other most senior officers who were murdered on the early hours of January 15? Also ,how come Ironsi who benefited from the same dastardly coup did nothing to have the main coupists court martialed, convicted and duly sentenced for high treason? Rather your Ironsi kept them safely in relative comfort in prison with no inkling to have them face justice? When you compare the speed and brutality at which Ironsi deployed in clamping down on the Adaka Boro led seccesionist movement and how same Ironsi secured his death conviction for daring to leave Nigeria while the murderers of Jan 15 were being held in prison with no inkling of being brought to face justice, then maybe it's high time you begin to see Ironsi as not the innocent benevolent character who stepped in to prevent Nigeria's collapse after the coup. |
Kafirbigot:So your Ironsi informed the PM but did nothing to avert the coup. A coup that could have seen him either killed or at best removed from his position as the head of the army. Try another lie abeg. How can Ironsi with all good conscience knowing about a coup who you all claim he was never part of but did nothing to avert it. What information did Ironsi pass to the PM regarding the coup that he could not have seen it brought to a close through his authority? On whose command were all the Nigerian Army officers and men under ? Is it the PM that will come and root out coup plotters from the military after Ironsi said there was an imminent coup as claimed by you liars? Make e pain you well because as long as e dey pain we are getting somewhere because all truths are first violently resisted before slowly being accepted as facts. |
OkCornel:You are because only your lot can defend lies and dearest truth. |
OkCornel:Whose Segun ? The latest upper iweaka best selling author ? David Ejoor has since spoken of the entire coup events . His words are more than truthful than one 0koro writing under a pseudonym to sell his cheap lies. |
OkCornel:The PM passed the security dossier to Ironsi who never responded to it. That communication was .ore of a query letter to Ironsi to answer what was going on under his command of the army. But Ironsi never responded to the PM nor investigated the coup plot allegation. How can someone in charge of the army not act upon a coup plot of the government he is serving? The only one who will not act is someone who knew very well of the plot and was part of it from the start. |
OkCornel:I am not your errand boy and I am not going to spoon feed you information here. I am sure you have a copy of that useless revisionist book . I had it but have since discarded it. Go and pore through its pages of lies and half truths and see were the author referenced the E branch of the Police as the ones who informed the PM. The PM passed the information to Ironsi who never acted upon it. |
OkCornel:Lolz. See this one whose thread is meant to wash the tribal stink off the tribal coup committed by your fellow ibos is here accusing me of being a tribal bigot. Shameless hypocrite. Ok let me indulge you,Ironsi informed the PM of a coup. What actions were put in place by Ironsi who headed the army to see that the coup was averted? I need your answer for the above now. |
OkCornel:What's my business with that rubbish ? And why are you not quoting your numerous Biafran propagandist sources? You don see one Segun to quote . Pathetic. Go and sleep. |
OkCornel:The E branch or espionage branch was the branch of the police dedicated to such crimes. I have stated it here for you severally. Go and read Siolluns book and slowly this time and see how he detailed the events leading to the coup and how the E branch were the ones who informed the PM and not your apprentice General . |
OkCornel:It's seems you don't have sense. This is why I am telling you that the Nigerian army under Ironsi was not the one that informed the PM. How can Ironsi know of a coup and not take drastic action to thwart it but went to report to the PM and according to you was waiting for the PM's directive to bring his mutinous officers and men to order? Does this make sense to you ? How can Ironsi not being part of a purported coup plot go and sleep and leave everything to the civilian government to fix his own army knowing fully well a coup may see him most likely removed or killed? You see why you people reason with your anus? |
OkCornel:Heard of the FSB and it's equivalent FBI? In most countries out there, the Police force is pàramount to internal security and not the army. On whose investigative report that formed the major damning evidence that was used to prosecute and convict Awolowo for treason ? Was it not the same Police E-Branch. |
OkCornel:I blame you. If not because of bastardisation of the current police force by past military regimes do you think the military anywhere on the planet is above the police ? If the FBI has strong reason for a coup in the US they will raid every officers home that is involved without question. The police boss back then answered to the supervising minister who in turn report to the PM and the PM works with cabinet members. Ironsi never informed anyone of a coup and he was only brought up to notice by the PM to which Ironsi never acted upon the security dossier. It was then the PM and NPC members knew that Ironsi was involved because if he wasn't why not act on credible Inteligence of a potential coup that could see him as head of the army deposed or even killed ? Use your brain for once. |
OkCornel:Ironsi was only on that list because he was the most senior officer . He never attended any military officer course like his fellow peers on the list . He was a korrofo apprentice officer who got converted . The Fulani brigadier General was the top of the list and British Major General wrote glowingly of his capabilities. Picking Ironsi was like choosing ojukwu over Gowon. Gowon was a trained professional officer from Sandhurst while ojukwu had no business in the army. |
OkCornel:Your foolishness is very compound. So Ironsi who swore an oath of loyalty to the government that appointed him as head of the army was waiting for directions from the PM to quell a coup that if he wasn't involved in would have seen him killed or deposed off? Again you show your foolishness by claiming that the police was under Ironsi . The police head reported to both the PM and parliament and not Ironsi. The information was shared to the PM and other senior NPC members before it was sent to Ironsi to act upon it. Is it the civilian PM or police that is expected to come and clean Ironsi's army for him? Stop posting more rubbish , you are getting more stupid with every post. |
OkCornel:I only respond to you for prosperity sake so that others will see your weak attempts at trying to exonerate Ironsi as being the real mastermind of the coup alongside other Ibo intelligentsia led by Zik. You can continue to decieve yourselves but Ironsi in wherever he is now will be regrerting his foolishness. Continue with your lies to yourselves .it only exposes you for being against the truth and light. |
OkCornel:Your Max Solihull has it documented in his book . Go and read it and see where he stated categorically that it was the E-Branch of the once very professional Nigerian Police that provided strong Inteligence of an impending coup to both the PM and Ironsi. Ironsi never informed anyone and the PM expected Ironsi to act and quell the mutiny within his chain of command. But Ironsi did nothing and even the PM had resigned his fate in God's hands and that's why his demeanour throughout his abduction and kidnap by the idiot ifeanjuna showed that he knew very well he was facing a losing battle knowing full well that Zik who was instrumental in seeing Ironsi who was the least qualified among the 3 most senior officers nominated by the outgoing British military commander becoming the head of the army , would have resisted as President in seeing Ironsi removed . Note that Brig. Mailamiri was spoken of among the three officers being nominated as the most qualified professional soldier to take over from the outgoing British Maj General in his brief to Azikiwe. Ironsi came a distant third after the Yoruba guy who was second in the list. But Zik chose the incompetent Ironsi. And that's why Ejoor was right to say that the coup was an Ibo coup that was being plotted from the day of independence. Zik as president had the sole powers to appoint heads of the military , police , judiciary and even VCs of universities and he went about appointing only his fellow ibos in most of the positions he could . |
According to the OP, Ironsi knew of a coup plot and had warned the PM. But same Ironsi efused to do anything to have it thwarted. Fast forward after the coup had taken place and those behind it arrested, what prevented the Ironsi rogue military government that seized power on the heels of that coup from duly arraigning the arrested masterminds and orchestrators of that coup? Adaka Boro's seccesionist movement was quickly brought to halt with brutal military efficiency on the orders of Ironsi which ojukwu oversaw. Adaka was quickly arrested , driven to Lagos totally n@ked and thrown in prison and a trial quickly conducted that handed Boro a death sentence for High Treason. All these while nothing was being said about the "arrested " coup plotters. |
DMerciful:The entire interview was posted here in a thread . I will search for the link. And reply to you again with it. One thing I can recall from that thread was how many of you IP0B rats were insulting Chief David Ejoor . The man survived three assassination attempts in Lagos , Enugu and later as Midwest military Governor in Benin. Funny thing is that Ejoor as Military Governor of Midwest excerscing his full authority under Gowon's short lived Decree 8 that rescinded Ironsi's decree 34, that saw to regional armies, refused to have Northern troops invade Biafra through the Midwest. This was despite Gowon warning Ejoor that most of the Anioma officers under his command were sympathetic to Enugu and for this reason Gowon refused to arm the Midwestern region with weapons. Ojukwu sensing this weakness ordered officers under Ejoor to seize power from him and have him killed. It was after escaping from being killed by same Anioma officers loyal to Enugu that Ojukwu sent his Biafran troops to occupy the Midwest and instal the buffon Maj Okonkwo as a stooge puppet ordering him to declare Republic of Benin. As we all know it's from the Midwest Ojukwu who had claimed to have secceded from Nigeria began his putsch to capture Lagos and the entire Western region. It was idiocy fueled madness starting from Jan 15 till the end of the war in January 1970. |
christistruth01:The OP think here is his village WhatsApp group were he can spew blatant lies. The murder of Unegbe does not excuse the main driving motive of the coup and can never be used to wash off the tribal agenda that motivated that dastardly act. Did Ojukwu not later execute many of his own men for being "sabos"? |
OkCornel:It's even more damning to Ironsi to claim he knew first hand of the coup and yet still did nothing to root out the mutinous officers behind it . If today any of the alphabet soup Inteligence networks we have today have a strong suspicion of a coup they will first and foremost inform the President and the CDS. The CDS being informed of a potential coup threat is expected to act swiftly on it by convening a Joint Staff meeting of the Army COAS, Naval and Air Force chiefs. The fact that you are now trying to hammer on Ironsi being the one who first blew the whistle on a coup -which is totally false, and still doing nothing to quell it shows either Ironsi being grossly incompetent or the one behind the coup plot. |
OkCornel:When you think you guys can't get any low you show the world how despicably evil you are. From trying to exonerate Ironsi in his obvious complicity in staging and orchestrating that coup, you have gone down the desperate path of blaming the innocent PM of not taking action to weed the military of its mutinous officers . So why did Ironsi not carry any action on his own as head of the army ? Are the troops under the PM or Ironsi ? You see howl you guys keep digging yourselves deeper into your grave of lies? |
OkCornel:The PM does not have such powers. The PM can only do such with Parliament's approval. Can a British PM declare war or order troop depolyments without both Houses of Parliament approval and that of the Sovereign head of England's final nod? The Prime minister did not have CnC in his designation like an executive President. |
I will be posting excerpts of Ejoor's bomb shaking interview here . The man spoke the truth and nothing but the truth and was bold enough to say it and provide a reason for the coup. |
OkCornel:The E-Branch would have shared such Inteligence to Ironsi as well so that's why you should not credit Ironsi for informing the PM. Both the PM and Ironsi plus the IG of Police knew there was a coup plot brewing based on the Inteligence report carried out by the E-Branch. Stop crediting Ironsi for anything. If at all, Ironsi refusal to reign in his officers and fish out the coupists exposes his connivance in the plot. |
OkCornel:Which orders? The PM had no direct control of the military like the current civilian executive President.. So what was Ironsi job as head of the army ? Was he so clueless that after discovering a coup plot did nothing to stop it? |
OkCornel:Ok, let's indulge your new straw man argument. What did Ironsi do as the CDS to fish out the coupists from his rank and file ? Were the troops under the PM or Ironsi? |
OkCornel:The Sarduna had whiff of it from observing unusual troop movements and had reported the matter to the police long before your Ironsi ever made such security report. What action did Ironsi as Head of the military do to fish out the coup plotters ? Or did he expect the PM to do his job for him? |
DMerciful:I thank God that Maj. General Ejoor granted an exclusive interview with one of the leading national dailies a few years before his death. Ejoor remains the only one who has spoken extensively about the events of Jan 15 and how it led to the civil war. Note that Ejoor was penciled down to be eliminated that night in his ikoyi hotel room which ifeanjuna had personally booked him and other officers including Lt Pam. Ejoor escaped death by the whiskers after requesting a room change over a noisy air-conditioning unit. At the dead of the night Ifeanjuna stormed the hotel and with his men opened fire on the assigned room Ejoor was supposed to be in. Ejoor was awakened by the barrage of machine gun shots and after listening from his new room found out this was a military operation and from there placed a call to Ironsi to inform him that something was amiss. You can search the interview here using NL search button. Ejoor will then later return to his command post in Enugu and when his fellow Ibo officers saw him , they thought he was a ghost because they expected him to have been killed. Ejoor quickly mobilised all the officers and men under his command to address them. The officers under Ejoor were all ibos but the majority of the men were northerners. Fearing that Ejoor will reveal more to the northern troops , the conspiracy took another twist with the involvement of the regional police head who summoned Ejoor to a meeting. Ejoor sensing danger skipped town and went back to Lagos to meet Ironsi. When Ejoor was summoned to Ironsi's office, he was greeted by a loaded gun pointed at him by Ironsi from behind his desk. As per the counter-coup, the remaining junior officers' of northern background had come to see the coup as a purge of their senior officers from the military and removal of other ethnic leaders. They had concluded that sooner or later the purge will extend to them and so hence why they struck back and HARD. |
OkCornel:Did the Sarduna not report to the police of suspicious troop movements around his residence in the dead of the night ? The Police E-Branch was so good at sniffing out coups that after the General's coup that ousted Shagari , the new military leadership had to unbundle the E-Branch. The E-Branch investigative report was what got Awo jailed for treason. The E branch even notified Gowon and later Murtala of a coup. Even after being watered down by the military leadership of Buhari and IBB, the same E-Branch had notified IBB of the Okah coup after locating a warehouse in Ikorodu with a cache of military grade weapons. The police and not Ironsi informed the PM. |
OkCornel:Stop this lie. It was the Police E-Branch that had information on an impending coup and had alerted the PM on it. Even the Sarduna knew about an impending coup days before it occured owing to Nzeagwu conducting troop movements in the dead of the night around the Sarduna's residence.the Sarduna had lodged an official compliant to the police and the same police had carried out a thorough investigation and even interrogated Nzeagwu on the reason for moving his troops in the dead of the night around the Sarduna's residence. Nzeagwu will lie that he was conducting military drills and excercise but the police didn't buy it and they duly sent a security report to the PM . Stop lying and twisting facts. |
OkCornel:At no time did Ironsi inform the PM of a coup. It was the Nigerian Police Espionage Branch (E-Branch) that had been investigating and conducting Inteligence reports on an impending coup days before Jan 15. The Sarduna had even reported suspicious late night troop movements led by Nzeagwu to the Police around his residence in Kaduna. The Police followed up on the report and interrogated Nzeagwu who said he was conducting a "training excercise". Even when Ejoor narrowly escaped being murdered that eventful night by Ifeanjuna at the Ikoyi Hotel room suite that Ifeanjuna booked him into, and rushed to call Ironsi in his switched hotel room that there might be a coup going on after Ifeanjuna could not locate him in the room, Ironsi did not appear shocked to hear of a coup ongoing but more shocked to hear Ejoor's voice. The coup was an ethnic agenda to cleanse both the political and military architecture and for that it succeeded. It was Ironsi, Orizu and Zik who could not manage their new found powers and had rushed their centrist ethnic agenda . Are you aware that Decree 34 was signed secretly on Jan 16 but only announced a few months later? That decree had all the hallmarks of Azikiwe and his Marxist ambitions. |
