Mrkc:Everything has place, season, and time. If all works accordingly, and timely, then eventually, it's never too late to fulfill your life's purpose. |
Portiphaaa:That's correct! |
Kriely:Love your view |
The Lord has hidden himself from the people, but I trust him and place my hope in him. Isaiah 8:17 (TEV) GOD is real, no matter how you feel. It's easier to worship God when things are going great in your life, when he has provided food, friends, family, health, and happy situations. But circumstances are not always pleasant. How then do you worship God? What do you do when God seems a million miles away? The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of pain, thanking God during a trial, trusting him when tempted. Surrendering to him during suffering, and loving him even when he seems distant. Friendship are often tested by separation and silence: You are divided by physical distance or you are unable to talk. In your friendship with God, you won't always feel close to him. Phillip Yancey has wisely noted, "Any relationship involves times of closeness and times of distance, and in a relationship with God, no matter how intimate, the pendulum will swing from one side to the other." That's when worship gets difficult. To mature your friendship with God, God will test it with period of seeming separation - times when it feels as if he has abandoned or forgotten you. God feels a million miles away. Several old-time seasoned ministers of God from different points of view saw this period of days of spiritual dryness, doubt, and estrangement from God as follows; "the dark night of the soul", "ministry of absence", ministry of the night ". Others referred to it as "the winter of the heart". Besides Jesus, David probably had the closest friendship with God of anyone. God took pleasure in calling him "a man after my heart". Yet David frequently complained of God's apparent absence: "Lord, why do you hide when i need you the most? Why have you forsaken me? Why do you remain distant? Why do you ignore my cries for help? Why have you abandoned me? Of course, God hadn't really left David, and he doesn't leave you. He has promised repeatedly, "I'll never leave you nor forsake you". But God has not promised, "you'll always feel my presence". In fact, God admits that sometimes he hides his face from us. There are times when he appears to be MIA ( missing in action) in your life. When God seems distant, you may feel that he is angry with you or disciplining you you for some sin. In fact, sin does disconnect us from God's intimate fellowship. We grieve God's spirit and quench our fellowship with him by disobedience, conflict with others, busyness, friendship with the world, and so on. But often this feeling of abandonment has nothing to do with sin. It's a test of faith, one we all must face: Wil you continue to love, trust and worship God, even when you have no sense of his presence or visible evidence of his work in your life? When you are a baby Christian, God gives you a lot of confirming emotions and often answers the most immature, self-centered prayers, so you'll know that he exists. But as you grow in faith, he'll wean you of these dependencies. To be continued... |
In this social media era, I feel the use of phones by kids, especially adolescents should be controlled. Because not much of them can draw a line between what they watch, from what they absorb therein. I mean, sometimes when people chase clout with all this posts, do they know the possible damage this does to innocent young ones future? Anyway, what do I know... |
You may not be a Bible scholar, but you are the authority of your life, and it's hard to argue with personal experience. Actually, your personal testimony is more effective than a sermon, because unbelievers see pastors as professional salesmen, but see you as a "satisfied-customer", so they give you more credibility. Unbelievers would probably loose interest if you start quoting theologians, but they have a natural curiosity about experiences they've never had (like yours). Another value of your testimony (as a message) is that it bypasses intellectual defences. Many people who won't accept the authority of the Bible will listen to a humble, personal story. *WHILE IT'S WISE TO LEARN FROM EXPERIENCE, IT'S WISER TO LEARN FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHERS* The Bible says, "A warning given by an experienced person to someone willing to listen, is more valuable than jewelry made of the finest gold." So, sometimes you pause and ask yourself the following questions.... 1) WHAT HAS GOD TAUGHT ME FROM FAILURE? 2) WHAT HAS GOD TAUGHT ME FROM LACK OF MONEY? 3) WHAT HAS GOD TAUGHT ME FROM PAIN, SUFFERING, OR DEPRESSION? 4) WHAT HAS GOD TAUGHT ME THROUGH ILLNESS? 5) WHAT HAVE I LEARNT FROM MY FAMILY, MY CHURCH, MY RELATIONSHIP, MY SMALL GROUP, AND MY CRITICS? When you must have thought critically on these questions, you'd arrive at the fact that WHEN GOD IS SILENT, HE'S NOT IDLE. |
The ability to overcome the fear of failure is one of the undeniable marks of Greatness. One subtle slayer of courage, is procrastination. Procrastination says, " ready, aim, fire." Courageous winner says, "ready, fire, aim." Beyond failure, there's another story unraveling: Be patient for that story. Self-worth and net-worth are not the same. Your value is not determined by your valuables. The greatest tragedy is not death; but life without purpose. Hope is essential to life as air and water. Hope comes from having a purpose. Knowing your purpose simplifies your life; it defines what you do, and what you don't do. |
thesicilian:quite disturbing that people don't see the hypocrisy in fellow Nigerians. Not just the government |
brain54:love your view on this. |
Really love the Banky guy.... Tried to stay away from trouble by staying off the spotlight. Celebrities should understand that staying in the spotlight, while in the spotlight, the brightness of the light will not allow you to hide and get away with even your tiniest misconduct. |
Really love the Banky guy.... Tried to stay away from trouble by staying off the spotlight. Celebrities should understand, that staying in the spotlight, while enjoying the brightness of the light, that same light, will not permit you to hide and go Scott Free with even your tiniest misconduct. |
There's no growth without changes; and there's no change without fear or loss; also, there's no loss without pain. Every change involves some loss of a kind. One of life's frustrations is that God's time-table is rarely the same as ours. We're often in a hurry when God isn't. There's no elevator to success, you must use the stairs. When God wants to make a mushroom, he does it overnight, but when he wants to make a giant oak, he takes a hundred years. Great souls are grown through struggles and storms and seasons of suffering. Be patient with the process. James advised, "don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do it's work so that you become matured and well -developed." Be patient: even in the time of Noah, even the snail reached the ark by perseverance. Don't get discouraged. When Habakkuk became depressed because he didn't think God was acting quickly enough, God had this to say: "This things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" A delay is not denial from God. Even when after Babylon had destroyed nations and rendering them utterly under it's control (at God's command): there came a time that God wanted the Babylonians to pay for their atrocities, but the process involved the children of Israel having to go into captivity in the hands of the Babylonians for seventy years, and as God had earlier spoken through the prophet Isaiah how he would use Cyrus to deliver the Israelites from captivity (Isaiah 45), God eventually did release them and that was the end of Babylon. Eventually, Babylon was laid a total waste. Same way God did to the Egyptians in the sense that the Israelites (God's own people) had to serve their enemies until a set time. Then God was moved to destroy the same enemies. So if you note, you'll see that their affliction of those long years in captivity was a process God found necessary, as a condition in heaven for him to destroy those energy nations. David was a man who truly understands these very pattern of God, as he states in Psalm 66:10-12...... To be continued. |
Every circumstance (problem) is a character building opportunity. Your circumstances are temporary, but your character will last forever. The secret of endurance is to remember that your pain is temporary but your reward will be eternal. Your focus will determine your feeling. If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. But if you look at God, you'll be at rest! In trouble times, we should pray fewer "comfort me" prayers (help me feel good) and more "conform me" prayers (use me to make me more like you). |
Hope your speech comes from your head (mind), not just your heart (illusion). If well prepared spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, I pray you get it right. Just like M.J |
People find it difficult to know that they must not forget that there's marriage, after that unforgettable wedding day. So if you aren't prepared for the unfolding events after wedding, then you aren't matured enough for marriage. How can you not sense danger ahead, when coercing someone into marriage. Mennnnnn, wisdom, is very essential for an Orderly relationship, before actual marriage. |
From the size of the woman, you can sense deep insecurity within her. Especially in the cruel world out there. Plus-size partners, especially the female, often have same feelings. Meanwhile, let's commend her for her approach of the LD-test, rather than violence. |
Love, is as complex as the universe itself. I wonder what the naysayers will now say. LESSON... Never put your contribution, on a breakup, where you never heard from both parties, sitting on a same table with you. |
I wonder why people, while in power, do not prepare for such eventuality (especially if corrupt). At least, apart from religion and morals, the should know of Karma law. It's a constant universal fact. |
Is politics actually a stable or predictable business in Nigeria? Someone once said, " politicians suffer memory loss, once elected into office". Get that and stay sane. |
I once said that pastors should draw a big-fat-line in their ministerial career, between MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKING and actual PREACHING. A lot of blunders when you divert from your actual true course. |
Praying AMISS... and God's timing.... Every unfolding event in ones life, has a time span. After all, it's all a process of learning, which enhances growth. Even a true prayer, is inspired by the spirit, before your actual voicing. There's also (in the sight of God), a great difference, between your needs ' & your wants'. The universal energy (God), actually considering your NEEDS, might by the delay, be telling you, "wait, I have something better for you", or "it's not the right time for this". |
iamrealdeji:That's understandable. |
One stainless ex-Governor that came out and stayed clean. Very Orderly man, back in his tenure days. |
Just to trend.... Can't read any sincerity of purpose. |
Why are they complaining? They were informed five years ago already, of which they agreed. So, is five years time not enough for the workers, having been forewarned, to secure another job? Serial complaining all over. |
Kind of last-respect.... |
With the level of digitalization these days, I wonder how thieves still thrive comfortably in the business. Knowing that even some cars, streets and humans around, have cameras. Anyway, what do I know of his state of mind. |
There's time for everything. Truth is like pregnancy, it'll eventually show up. |
My dear men, and their third leg whahala. God will help us. |
Am sure it's a hookup went wrong. May God see her through (if still alive). Ladies pls be careful. It's a cruel world out there. |
Hasn't even made money yet, but has already started the MOG norm. You can imagine what he can do with power, when the church expands. |
