I remember years back volunteers of the Nigerian peace corps were asked to pay some amount of money which will be used to lobby senators to pass a bill establishing the corps as an agency of government. I was asked to pay a huge amount of money then but refused.
The bill was eventually rejected by president Buhari. People cried blood.

If you want the beans to cook real fast don't add salt at the beginning. You add salt only when the beans is completely soft, close to the point of taking it down from the stove. If you add salt at the beginning, your beans will take forever to cook; the beans may even never cook real soft however long you cook it.

This explains it but doctors do advice to put salt at the earlier stages of cooking.
