It’s the Yoruba musician touts like Naira Marley, Olamide, Portable etc. Not all. Fireboy, Asake, Omah lay etc are cool.

You still managed to squeeze tribalism into the topic.
With this mindset you should also point fingers at yourself and put your name in the above. You are also part of the problem.

Nairaland / General / What's Your Strategy For Combating Rising Inflation? by Apus: 4:13pm On Sep 18, 2023
Going by economic indicators and the prevalent realities, there is no doubt that Nigerians are faced with several economic challenges amidst rising food price, fuel price increase and an unstable foreign exchange. Hence, the daily need to make wise choices and strategies to keep afloat.

Gone are the days in Nigeria where you can be adjuged as being wealthy by the amount of savings you got in your account. Such cannot be said of today due to rising inflation.

But Ogun sorry state does not bother them cos all of them have migrated to Lagos state as refugee citizens..instead of thinking on how best to make Ogun state their state livable they will rather stay under the bridge in Lagos, buy a cheap phone and be insulting the Igbos u dear constant mosquito attack.

My brother, this point you've alluded to is a serious matter. Heard some certain governors even control their states from Lagos.
But to what end?

I don't understand why he always try to go against his people all the time.

He spent the whole 11 years as head of Nigeria and we can't even point to one infrastructure he did in SW.
Awolowo’s infrastructures is still there for everyone to see till today even though he doesn't have the kind of power obj had.

The old shameless man even failed to construct the road that leads to his house and he is here demanding respect.

The only thing he did was to be friends with yoruba enemies and those useless enemies love him for it, they even rate him the best president when clearly he doesn't do anything meaningful aside dictating to others and rigging elections

Thank you.

Ogun state is in a very sorry state right now in terms of road infrastructure. This is a state that has produced lots of big names as far as politics is concerned in Nigeria including Obj and Osinbanjo. Na to dey lick Fulani ass Dem know. The useless one there now (Dapo) is the worst so far.
What a shame.

While you may be right sir, remember the rot we are experiencing today is as a result of the failure of past administrations including your own baba. You failed to revive Nigeria's ailing refineries whilst allocating humongous amount for such including electricity.

We need solutions now not rhetorics baba.

This country don mad! Not surprised though, We know who is actually behind NURTW.

NOTE: NLC is going on strike to protest government's lack of transparency and commitment in the manner the issue of palliative is being handled. You call the below palliative?

We keep shouting it... Roll out buses that run on alternative source of energy if possible which would allow people move their goods and services at a cheaper cost, constant electricity, allow regulated inflow of food especially rice to augment local production. The average man just wants to eat and survive. It's not too much to ask.

We are not ignorant of the same old tactics of Divide and Rule by the West. You inspire chaos in Africa and pretend to be the face of peace while you plunder their resources from behind.

Politics / Re: Why The Military Is Best Option For Multiethnic Countries With Bad Governance by Apus: 2:50pm On Aug 31, 2023
Whether Military or Democracy Our problem in Africa is that we are not truly patriotic. We only wish to serve our selfish interest. We are more loyal to our tribe or ethnic group. The military is even worse. How soon have you forgotten the selective purging in the military that eventually resulted into the civil war?

Politics / Re: Why Nigeria Has Not Experienced Military Coup Since 1999 - Obasanjo by Apus: 2:30pm On Aug 31, 2023
This article was even published in 2017 where Obasanjo proffered compulsory retirement of senior military officials as a way of curbing military coups. No wonder the recent shake-up in the military architecture in countries like Rwanda and Cameroon today. However, this is akin to rubbing balm on the neck when the head is aching. There are too many deficiencies with democracy in Africa... Abuse of power, corruption, nepotism, no respect for the rule of law, Executive being more powerful than the judiciary and legislative arms of government, weak democratic institutions etc. Is why they say, a black finds it hard to rule himself.
Baba has no moral standing to speak. By proposing a bill seeking to extend his term beyond two-terms, Obasanjo himself almost fell into the trap like his counterparts in Gabon, Rwanda, Cameroon did. Power corrupts and it corrupts absolutely. It's when they are no more in power their head is correct.
Whether Military or Democracy Our problem in Africa is that we are not truly patriotic.

I'm loving this new wave of wokeness sweeping across most countries in Africa.

I'm no supporter of Military rule, but where was AU, ECOWAS and champions of democracy in Europe when the very institutions meant to strengthen democracy in Africa were busy selling justice, aligning and scheming to steal peoples' mandate, and installing unpopular leaders? One even ruled for 42 years with his son taking over... that's no longer democracy na!
Democracy has impoverished and still continues to impoverish the entire continent.

Politics / Re: Suggest A NEW System Of Government For African Nations by Apus: 6:12pm On Aug 30, 2023
First bear in mind that no system is perfect.

Because of the heterogenic nature of most African states, i prefer a confederal-like system comprising of loose national/ethnic entities. This would allay the fear of ethnic subjugation & rivalry, allow greater resource control and proper representation rather than the majority always calling the shots, as is the case with Nigeria.
Also, there is the need to strengthen institutions that will always ensure fairness and equity. Owing to the fallible nature of man and the supposed infallible nature of our traditional gods(based on African belief), our leaders/representatives should be made to swear to deities like Ogun, oya, Amadioha, as it had been pre-colonial era before taking up positions just like in the oyo empire.
These deities go treat the f**k up of corrupt leaders and those who abuse powers.
Time to revisit our traditional values.

Politics / Re: Why Tinubu Can’t Speak To Other Africans On Democracy - Nwokobia by Apus: 7:27pm On Aug 27, 2023
Democracy, though an ideal system of governance, is fast losing its essence especially in Africa, aided by the very institutions meant to strengthen it. INEC is corrupt, Judges are selling judgement to the highest bidder, Nepotism is on the rise.
From Nigeria to Zimbabwe the story remains the same.
Emilokan politics and democracy don't go well and an Aristocrat like Tinubu knows he's can't be the face of democracy.
