my reason for asking?

I was at my friend's place sometime ago and she was telling me abt her busy schedule and how she needed a modest automobile to make mobility easier(by the way she's 29, single and has a great job; so she can practically afford it if she wants). Her mum opposed the idea and said buying a car would give the impression of "arrogance" and that it would scare prospective suitors away, i was just wondering what is wrong with a woman taking care of her needs.( our parents and their point of view)

Guys, if u met a lady who is independent and can conveniently take care of herself without relying on men for hand outs; would you be intimidated by such a lady? CANDID OPINIONS PLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have bn religiously watchin my weight for a year now and i have shed abt 15kg with a strict diet plan and having my dinner by 6-6.30pm. i recently changed my job and this has caused me not to have a constant and planned diet anymore. most times i get home abt 10pm and famished that i have to grab anythin i c to eat, now i feel im beginin to add weight back. wld restrictin my nite meal to beans and vegies help since they r less fattening?

reading this thread is the most informative and interesting thing on NL, it makes IB seem so much fun. i ve just written the CFA 1 exams in june, and boy i had a though time sinking in the whole curriculum since im not into investment banking. its always alot easier when u read what you deal with and practise. however it was a worthwhile experience as  it gave me a lot exposure and i definitely hope to leave banking operations and become an IBer.

my friend is in a dilema and dont knw wht to tell her. she's bn dating a guy for 6 months now and all roads seem to be leading to the altar until they had a challenge with the girl's parents that kicked against the union for reason best knw to them. now the guy is willing to wait anothet year to get a resolve to the issue on ground. she recently met a colleague at a party a month ago and they seem to be attracted to eachother. they talk every day and now it seems that she happier with the colleague frm work.

she loves the first guy so much and doesnt want to leave him yet she's attracted to her colleague.
