Kbs468: Here is a brief submission from me about Nasarawa State of Nigeria. Enjoy yourselves as you go through it based on popular demand. Nasarawa is a state in central Nigeria . Its capital is Lafia . History Nasarawa was created on 1 October 1996 by the Abacha government from the (today neighboring) Plateau State.
Geography Nasarawa State is bounded in the north by Kaduna State, in the west by the Abuja Federal Capital Territory , in the south by Kogi and Benue States and in the east by Taraba and Plateau States . A network of roads exist within the state, linking all the rural areas and major towns. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) operates train services from Kuru, Gombe and Maiduguri. Local Government Areas The State has three National Senatorial Districts (South, North and West). Nasarawa State consists of thirteen (13) Local Government Areas. Nasarawa West Senatorial District 716,802 Nasarawa North Senatorial District 335, Karu 205,477 Akwanga 113,4 Keffi 92,664 Nasarawa Egon 149,1 Kokona 109,749 Wamba 72,89 Nasarawa 189,835 Toto 119,077
Economy Concrete block factory is popular amongst the indigenous people of Nasarawa State. Nasarawa State also has agriculture as the mainstay of its economy with the production of varieties of cash crops throughout the year. It is also contains minerals such as salt and bauxite. Education The state has a Federal Polytechnic in Nasarawa local Government Area of the state, College of Education in Akwanga , College of Agriculture in Lafia, Nasarawa State Polytechnic in Lafia, Nasarawa State University in Keffi ,a newly established Federal University of Lafia in Lafia town, and other vocational training schools. Tourism Nassarawa state is home to the Farin Ruwa Falls in Wamba local Government area of the state. Farin Ruwa falls is reputed to be one of the highest falls in Africa. There is also the Salt Village in Keana Local Government Area of the State. It produces naturally iodized salt from the lake located near it.The town is also the cradle of Alago civilization.. The state also pays #5000 as allawee as at the time of filling this report which Ofcourse cannot be said to continue as the civil servants are presently at logger head with the state government following the lack of payment of salaries by the government and the eventual accusation by the populace that the federal government's intervention was actually diverted to the funding of the state owned Airport which is due to take off this December. Love you all as we prepare ahead of our readiness for National Service to humanity. You correct.... My project topic was actually about Nassarawa and I happen to have been there more than I can remember..... Trust, will feed u more via whatsapp... Will write bout Plateau State soon as I get the info I want. |

shuaibbs: Bauchi State, the pearl of tourism, home of peace and hospitality! Governor : Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar Esq
Well this is for those that are thinking of coming to Bauchi State.
Created in 1976 Bauchi State with a land mass more than half the entire south west and almost twice the south east, is one of the 6 states of the north east (Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi). It is significant to note that the state is very peaceful and insurgents free, despite its geographical location! It shares boundaries with Plateau, Gombe, Yobe, Taraba, Kaduna, and Kano states, because of this there is virtually no ethnic group you won't find in Bauchi!
Home to the Golden voice of Africa, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa the state has a number of higher institutions namely the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (formerly Federal university of tech. Bauchi), college of education Azare, adult and non formal education kangere, the Bauchi State university with campuses at Gadau, Misau and Bauchi (the state capital) and the Abubakar Tatari Ali state Polytechnic. Any of which corps members can be posted to. Of course there are secondary and Primary schools too numerous to mention lol, spanning from zaki far north to bogoro at the extreme south!
Living costs are low, I mean as a student you can live on as low as 10k a month! Low cost of transport and food! A good self contained apartment may be obtained from 50k+ in the capital.
Not many manufacturing industries sadly but the few I know are working include steyr, where they assemble motorcycles and mini trucks, there is also the fertiliser company, an electrical wire factory, plus a few others I can't remember the names but definitely nothing close to what is obtainable in Kaduna, Ogun or Abia!
There is the yankari game reserve which has a very diverse and rich wildlife, not aware of clubs but am sure there are pubs here and there!
I will also confirm on the remuneration by the state govt but I don't think it's more than 5k.
If you want to meet new people, understand Nigeria better, behold the beauty of the northern damsel, love, laugh, learn the language, maybe even write a book about it lol, Bauchi is the place to be!
I was privileged to live in lagos for 3 months, and believe me it was a completely different world, from the bus conductor who shouts at you in yoruba for his money not knowing you have no idea what he is saying Lool.. to the passenger who stands up and preaches in the bus but then asks for offering lol... It was really nice!
So please before executing those plans of yours, get out of your comfort zone, explore new places, explore new people, new cultures, new languages, live a little! Explore Nigeria!
#Cheers A nice piece from Bauchi.... Thanks |

Harbioollah: I schooled in Ogun, the capital, Abeokuta precisely. It is surrounded by Oyo, Lagos, Osun and Ondo. And it has a close proximity with Lagos and Ibadan.
They pay 5k monthly. But i think it's paid once at the end of service (60k). Ogun is fairly cheap and peaceful.
Transportation is easy and cheap. In abeokuta, they use green cabs/taxis which are many on the road and you can get fares from as low as N20. There are fairly good roads as there has been a massive construction of roads under the SIA government. Accommodation is cheap, you can get self contained apartments from as low as 50 in Abeokuta . Electricity is improving in Ogun state but i have some mixed feelings about water. Depends on location also.
In Conclusion, Ogun is a nice state to stay. Just that somehow i miss the busy and noisy life of Lagos. But once you are there, do not forget to visit Olumo rock. You will learn about the history of the egbas and how they have been able to survive the many wars.
Btw, Are you from the Southeast or South South? Because security wise, that will be the only logical reason for choosing Enugu which is among the states riddled by the Biafran Protest. And with the way things are going now, i fear what may happen in the future. #My two cents.
Enugu was my second choice too. But that was before. The Southeast is out now for me. I'm still undecided about who to take in the North Central Region. Thanks for the information mate... "The Southeast is out now for me." I just hope parity is restored very soon... #bless |

Yudeeaikay: Good evening Fam...hope your day went well...
About Akwa Ibom State Name of Governor: Emmanuel, Udom Gabriel No of LGA: 31. Akwa Ibom state is one of the state in the south south region of Nigeria. Created in 23rd September, 1987 the state has witness a lot of ups and down in its development. Mostly ups though..
Standard of Living: The standard of living of the state, I will say is medium. Houses are not too costly neither are they too cheap. Basic daily need items are available at a relative price. Price of food items are cheap as well. You can find a standard self contain apartment within the range of + or - #150k, in Uyo town. I don't know much about outskirts of Uyo
Economic Situation: Presently, the economic situation of the state is fairly Ok though government has not paid it's staff for some months now.
Social Status: The social status of the state is getting brighter year in year out. This is so because of the influx of people to the state recently. There are couple of clubs around the state and the night life is trying to pick up though it's still not so excellent. Also, radio stations like planet FM, Atlantic FM are available
Civilization: most cities in akwa ibom are civilized. From Uyo to Eket to Abak to Ikot Ekpene and some other major towns are civilized. Not everywhere is.
Electricity: It depends on the part where you stay in Uyo, there is constant light in some areas n then poor lighting in some other areas. I don't know what is the cause of that disparity.
Water supply: It is constant. In addition almost all houses can boast of borehole in their house.
Finally, to all PCM planning to come to Akwa Ibom for your service year, my source said that the state pays 10k except you are lucky to be posted to FIRS where you could be paid between 25-30k and some private firms too pay within that range, then you should also pray hard that you are not posted to local government councils cause sometimes they could pay as low as 5k in fact they pay just anything they feel like paying...I was told sha... But the least you can get is 10k except in the local government councils. Transportation: It's quite affordable and Ok generally except during this fuel hiking period
Thank you all for your time to read this insight about Akwa Ibom State. Yudeeaikay (Uyo).
Sorry this came in now was trying to make some findings so I don't give wrong info DTOBS
I will suggest that we all do this for all PCMs in the house to have full knowledge of your state Thanks for painstakingly getting this info across to everyone in the house. We appreciate. It kinda gave me an option if I eventually make up my mind choosing the 3rd state. |
