Education in Nigeria

Most educated people especially among the youths are now of the view that education is a scam (it does not hold water), this is so because of the situation of the country that will acknowledge you when you genuflect. Maybe these people have forgotten about how people who were able to read and write secured job under the colonial government that had plan for the literates in the society.

The contemporary indigenous government really do not have the structure that will cater for the literates in the society, even the few jobs that are available most authorities prefer to sinecure them at the expense of those who are qualified.

They hurriedly included in the tertiary institutions scheme of work General studies that include the entrepreneurship studies that is supposed to last for at least a semester but will last in two contacts all because it was ill planned. And the students will do well to cram and pass the exams without any impact or meaningful knowledge gained.

All these made most youth to see education as a waste of time. They will continue to see it as a waste of time, if entrepreneurship studies will not start from first year throughout the duration of their course of studies.

Education will be a scam if students after studying entrepreneurship studies will still learn how to sew or photography or barbing, hairdressing, make up artist after graduation. All these and more should be included in the General studies and students must demonstrate their knowledge of whatever they have learnt at their graduation.

Every Jack has its jail

The mere fact that Nigeria has not been getting it right in her dealings does not mean that nations especially in Africa shoukd look down on the country or her citizens.

Despite the fact that so many things is wrong right from its foundation to the time of her independence, it should still command a level of respect among nations in Africa it has the potential only waiting for the visionary leaders or reformation that will bring out her best.

But despite her deficiencies, the country should still be a force to reckon with or should be left alone as it is.

Neighbouring nations may not be able to combat the effects of full blown chaos in Nigeria as if this happens, Nigerian citizens will just take over affairs of their host nations and their will be more chaos. Nigeria maybe mere geographical expression but then, Nations in the continent must not incite or heat the polity.

The country may still be battling with kicking out polio when other countries are occupying the space and engaging in master class projects "The Nigeria country is still on her own level and it is moving forward in her own pace" Let nations not over state the obvious about Nigeria predicaments especially African nations. After all, every Jack has its jail.

It high time Africans realise that under developing a nation start with non recognition and destroying legacies of of such nations. African were underdeveloped my the systematic demolition of African traditional industries and civilization and substituting it with that of western ideas.

The current actions of the developed world/WHO to discredit the Madascar cure for Covid is a pointer to this.

African needs to learn from history and especially how the superpowers destroy their civilization and the way they tagged their traditional industries and some of their products illicit.

Their products including agricultural products used to come...and still come from the EU...their IT and Telecoms equipment inclusive and Germany happens to be a big player in this sector. With taxes and high cost of transportation and lots of spends on expertise and technical personnel, UK would be hit hard and they're quite aware of this. That's why they're making alternative moves by relaxing their immigration rules. For your information and as a move to create an alternative to the perceived vacuum that would be left behind for too long, should they break off, students are now given the opportunity of working for 2 years in the UK after their programmes, for those who wish to stay back. You know what what means? I urge you find out. [

I'm more concerned on the brain drain issue. If this Brexit should happen, the United kingdom would create policies and programmes in extorting developing nations of their intellectuals. I implore the government to formulate policies that would disrupt or discourage people/intellectuals in leaving the countries, and must make sure that the implementation process is surely enforced.
Nigeria really can't afford its intellectuals to start leaving with different problems facing the nation, we really can't afford the extortion of our intellectuals.

All brexit delay tactics is by elements in govt hoping they can change the will of the people to protect their own selfish interests in a second referendum. Boris' deal obviously was good enough to accomodate britons rights. Just goes to show that democracy is really a wash, can easily be compromised, like nigeria that can't even get restructuring when we all want it because of elements we elected to represent us who only see their opportunity to exploit the current system for personal gain. In simple terms, any system having humans at the helm of it will eventually go awry. Meanwhile @OP, this article really isn't incisive in terms of analysis and definite prescriptions as a result. You already said all your points can't be validated as regards effect on Nigeria so why the baseless projections. In any case, this is one of those articles that gives you hope that nairaland will eventually regain vision for relevant information constructive and eliminate all this newfound penchant for petty, unenlightening issues they bring to front page.a

That's too much for me.

Anyway, a slowdown in the British economy due to Brexit should reduce demand for goods from former commonwealth countries. Also, a weaker pound which has already happened (and might depreciate further because of Brexit) will also limit demand for goods and services from those countries.

A weak pound coupled with a desire for Britain to find new markets for their goods should lead to increase exports to its former commonwealth countries. A weak pound will make British made goods more competitive in the marketplace naturally increasing demand for them against their competitors.
Thank very much. I don't know if you can give me your name for reference purpose and thejob u do

Point of correction. Boris wasn't entirely interested in negotiating with the EU on brexit. Left to him, he was ready to get out of the EU come what may. He even 'prorogue' the parliament to prevent further debates on 'a deal'. It was actually the queen that reopened parliament and forced the prime Minister to go secure a deal with the EU. Obviously, he would be negotiating from the position of weakness considering that time was no longer on their side.
