Smartgrid: Today I want to tell you a story. Once upon a time, there was a village in the Far East of the country named Raad Paap Deer (RPD), this village is ruled by a king name Akka. So king Akka wants to marry up his 5 daughters who are due for marriage. All the village guys want to marry this girls, reason is because once you marry one of them, there are so many benefits. So alot of people start coming and meeting the king, to ask for his daughters hand in marriage. He king could not handle the number of people coming to seek his daughters hand in marriage. So king Akka comes up with an idea. He chose the best among his district heads name Mr Tata and appoint him as the person in charge of screening the guys who wants to marry his daughters. This man he chose(Mr Tata) has a good record of been fearless. He also know most of the young guys in the village. So Mr Tata ask all the guys to come for a screening at his home. During the screening, he takes note of the guys character, past record, education, family history and etc. He graded them accordingly and at the end of the screening, he has the best guys among thousands that want to marry King Akka daughters. But during the screening process, some of the district heads and elders in the palace have personally meet Mr Tata and pleaded with him to include their sons among those that will marry the king daughters. But because Tata is fearless, He always tell them he want to be fair to everyone and he will only select them if they did great and pass the screening he organize. This didn't go well with the elders and Districts heads, as they know most of their sons didn't perform well in the screening. So they keep pressure rising Mr Tata. After concluding his task, he submit the names of the successful guys to king Akka. Mr Tata informed the king to release the names to the public only after he (Mr Tata) travel out of the village. To avoid last minute pressure from the district heads and elders. The king has agreed to Mr Tata's request that the list will be released only when he already left the village. The pressure is high in the village as both the palace elders and district heads are hoping their sons names are among. Also the village people have confident on Mr Tata's decision, and they know it will favour them when the list is finally release by the king. But nobody knows who are those lucky guys that will marry the king daughters. Only time will tell.
Watch out for the part two to know how it went. what about pressure from neighboring villages, I thought the wedding will take place after farm harvesting, since this is towards the end of rainy season. |

keboxxerxes: Good evening guys. Something actually bothers me about this recruitment. As we know, DPR has already called the OND guys about their APLs yet, no one knows how they were contacted, be it by phone or by the portal. Secondly DPR did not publish any list of successful candidates to that effect, the way other government establishments do. Won't this be the same case for the BSC chaps as well ?? Always check your portal bro and pray. |

Heisenberg77: You are welcome. There are legitimate concerns about security, making it not advisable divulging remuneration packages to people who do not work there. In the western world, this is not a big deal, people talk about remuneration freely and post them in websites like glass-door, because crime is relatively low in such societies so they do not have the kind of concerns we do. However, because of the inequality in Nigeria and its attendant problems of criminality (kidnappings) and other vices, it is not advisable to give such information online, or to anyone who doesn't work there. That is why it is difficult pin-pointing what people who have good jobs in Nigeria earn. They are always evasive about what they earn (I often previously wondered why). They simply do not give out such information. So please, do not take it as a spite that I wouldn't be providing such information publicly or privately. If you get this job, I promise you will do same. However, suffice it to say they pay well. Like you said in one of your posts, they do pay some people hazard allowances, and some other allowances. Then they have their very juicy yearly up-fronts. It is a dream job. They may not pay you like the international oil companies (at least in entry level), but with DPR you have stability and job growth and will eventually catch up with those guys in the oil majors.
Not everyone earns the same amount in allowances though. Your allowances (hazards and others) may vary depending on if you regularly go to the field or if you stay in the office. So you may have a staff who regularly goes off-shore earn more than say someone who sits in the office. But no matter what, it is still a very good place to work irrespective of what you are doing. The reason I posted is just to encourage people not to lose hope or be discouraged like we were during our time. You guys are even lucky. Your recruitment time is shorter than ours. Our recruitment started in 2010 and people started getting offers in 2013 (3 years of tension). We took 2 exams, you guys took 1. Also, it is worth knowing that most staff in DPR do not usually know anything about recruitment. Just because they are in DPR does not mean they know jack about what is going on. You will be surprised you guys here know more than many staff. I found this out in our time. I kept on bugging some of the staff about info. but I found out they didnt know much. Most staff just go about their daily activities at work and do not even think about recruitment like some people assume they should. Only a select few who are concerned with the recruitment know the details, so be careful about taking anything you hear simply because the person has a DPR badge, you may actually know more than the person. However, if you are lucky to know the people who are concerned with the recruitment, then go for it. K |

muazu05: Its lovely to witness such an incessant flow of diverse interests for over a year. Selected or not following this threads reallly benefits and educates us.
To start with, AAdam, your last utterances are rude and uncalled for. This however, do not mean you are totally wrong. I have keenly followed the conversation and my instinct has told me to say something several times but I just decided to keep calm and watch especially when I noticed you have given a deaf ear to the rather 'insults'(than corrections) directed to you over your Grammar. Thanks to Babagy, Mancongroup, 23biu for trying to make us understand that all you wanted to do was pass some message to us (which you've done) and that English isnt our mother's tongue nor it is the basis for measuring intelligence.
My dear friends and colleagues to be insha Allah, I agreed those challenging him were trying to correct him at first but later I saw it otherwise. Corrections should be constructive and polite...but the way it faired here wasnt so. For this I dnt blame him if he gets upset but still he shouldnt have responded the way he did. We all falter. This is not the first time I notice errors in things we post here and i'm sure many others have seen it but no one cares about it because we are not here to show our grades in English.
Please and please, lets treat each other with respect and let peace reign. Nice write up. AAdam please try to stop taking it too far we are not here show who we are. Team work, honesty, integrity, accountability and responsibleness are some of the qualities needed by each and every DPR staff. My fellow prospective, let's come together and embrace peace and stop any tribal or religious insult. I believe almost all of us are graduates here. |
