Sports / I Can't Be Compared To Salah - Kevin De Bruyne by asulyman1(m): 7:11am On Apr 03, 2018
The race for PFA Player of the Year is between Liverpool's Mohammad Salah & Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyn. Ahead of the meeting between the two teams in the Champions League Quarter-Finals, KDB opined that he can't be compared to the Egyptian and that he deserves the award for his consistent form.

"Everybody has his own opinion. It depends on what people are looking for in a player. Salah has a remarkable goalscoring run, and he plays very well like an inside forward type of role, for me. This season he has been incredible. To compare us, I don't know. With the statistics how are we going to compare ourselves? It's totally different, I played [against Everton] like a defensive midfielder, how you can compare me to an inside forward? I have no idea."

"He has been outstanding, his record speaks for itself. It's just the way it goes. Luckily I don't have to do that."

De Bruyne added: "Well, if I get it, it would be nice I think for the team and for me. In one way I believe I deserve it, because I have been very consistent in my form. "I am very happy with myself, I am very pleased with how I have played, I didn't expect to be this good this season, to be honest.

"I think there is almost no game where my standard has dropped, so I have been very constant, and I am very happy with myself. To maintain the level the amount of games I have played, the amount of minutes, I am very pleased with that."
Crime / 15 Persons Killed, 55 Injured In Latest Boko Haram Attacks by asulyman1(m): 9:58am On Apr 02, 2018
No fewer than 15 persons are feared dead while 55 others sustained injuries in a Sunday night attack by Boko Haram insurgents at Bale community in the outskirts of Maiduguri. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that echoes from sporadic gunshots and multiple explosions, which lasted for hours on Sunday evening, were heard from the outskirts of the city.

Competent security sources told NAN that a number of insurgents attacked Bale-Shuwa and Bale-Kura communities near Maiduguri in an attempt to infiltrate the town at about 8: 00 p.m. The source disclosed that the insurgents parked their vehicles few meters away from a security checkpoint and sneaked into the community. The source added that the security operatives engaged in fierce gun battle with the insurgents who detonated IEDs and shot sporadically.

However, the Commander of the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, denied any death on the side of his soldiers or civilians in the attack. Reacting to NAN inquiry in a text message, he said, however, that some of the Boko Haram insurgents were killed.

Investment / MMM Founder, Sergei Mavrodi, Dies Of Heart Attack At 62 by asulyman1(m): 6:36pm On Mar 26, 2018
Russian businessman Sergei Mavrodi, whose MMM pyramid scheme deprived millions of Russians of their savings in the 1990s, has died of a heart attack, according to Russia media. Reports said the 62-year-old was rushed to the hospital late on March 25 with pain in his chest and died several hours later.

Mavrodi’s MMM financial pyramid was a typical Ponzi scheme in which earlier investors receive their profits from subsequent investors. Mavrodi promised returns of 20 percent to 75 percent a month, as well as lotteries and bonuses for investors. As soon as the number of new clients stopped growing, the pyramid collapsed, causing huge financial losses for at least 10 million people, in some cases leaving them destitute.

In 2007, a Moscow court found him guilty of financial fraud and sentenced him to 4 1/2 years in a penal colony. In 2011, Mavrodi launched another pyramid scheme called MMM-2011, calling on investors to purchase so-called Mavro currency units in a bid to get rid of the “unfair” financial system. Some 15 months later, Mavrodi halted the project. From 2011-16, Mavrodi launched Ponzi schemes under the MMM brand in India, China, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria. In many of those countries, Mavrodi’s operations were subsequently shut down or suspended.

Politics / Over 80 Million Nigerians Are Poor - Federal Government by asulyman1(m): 6:34pm On Feb 26, 2018
Special Adviser to the Nigerian president on National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), Mrs Maryam Uwais, has revealed that over 80 million out of estimated Nigerian population of over 150 million are poor. However, only about 455,857 of the number of poor people have been captured in the National Social Register (NSP) being used by the Federal Government for its National Cash Transfer Program.

Even then, the monthly stipends of N5000.00 is being paid to only 297,973 out of 455,857 identified poor and vulnerable households captured in NSP. Uwais revealed this when briefing the media on the efforts of the President Buhari administration to fight poverty in the country.

She also explained that there is a system in place to ensure that only the right set of people benefit from the program. In this regard, she said the federal government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with states to ensure that the funds released get to the intended beneficiaries.

Politics / Corruption Is Pdp’s Oxygen, Says APC by asulyman1(m): 10:42pm On Feb 23, 2018
The All Progressives Congress has described corruption as the oxygen on which the opposition Peoples Democratic Party survives. This, the APC said, was the reason why the PDP was often up in arms against measures designed to clean up the electoral process to make it transparent and accountable. The APC said this in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The party was reacting to a statement credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan. In its response, the APC said, “What is the PDP afraid of? It is clear that the party is still living in the past when public funds were criminally diverted to sponsor its political activities.

“It is obvious that the PDP is still terrified by transparency, preferring instead that Nigeria continues to wallow in the culture of corruption and impunity that it has entrenched in the country because that is the only way the party knows how to operate. “Corruption is their oxygen. The APC welcomes any measure taken to ensure transparency in electoral financing.”

Religion / When Does The Ritual Bath (ghusl) Become Required? by asulyman1(m): 10:51am On Jan 12, 2018
Without bathing, certain acts of worship cannot be performed. Negligence in these cases is sinful. The following situations require a Muslim to bathe and perform the ritual bath.

1. The emission of semen or orgasmic fluid.

If the discharge of semen or orgasmic fluid is accompanied by feelings of desire, the ritual bath is required. The ritual bath is not required if they are emitted unintentionally with no feelings of desire.

The ritual bath must be performed if the emission of sperm or orgasmic fluid:

(a) is due to stimulation while awake (like sexual intercourse and masturbation) resulting in ejaculation of semen or orgasmic fluid.

(b) happens while one is asleep (like wet-dreams). In other words, if one does not feel that they experienced a nocturnal emission but happens to find him or herself wet upon awakening, they must perform the ritual bath.

The ritual bath is not required in the following cases:

(a) If semen or orgasmic fluid is emitted unintentionally without stimulation with no feelings of desire, such as due to illness or cold weather.

(b) If they feel they had a nocturnal emission but find no traces, then they need not perform the ritual bath.

2. Penetration.

If the penis enters the vagina, the ritual bath becomes obligatory on both spouses whether there is ejaculation or not and whether a condom is used or not. Mere rubbing or outward touching of genitals does not make the ritual bath necessary.

3. Menstruation and post-natal bleeding.

A woman must perform the ritual bath after her period ends, known by the white discharge generally recognized by women. She should also perform the ritual bath after post-natal bleeding following delivery. The ritual bath is required in both cases before she can resume the daily prayers (salah), fasting, and conjugal relations with her husband.

4. Death.

The body of a deceased Muslim of either gender must be given the ritual bath (ghusl), unless he or she died of wounds suffered in Jihad (struggle or war in Allah’s cause)

5. On entering Islam.

Some scholars maintain that the ritual bath (ghusl) is required of a new Muslim on entering Islam, in order to purify oneself from the major state of impurity. Thus one should perform it to be on the safe side.

Romance / I Beat Up My Husband Anytime He Demands Sex – Wife by asulyman1(m): 8:19pm On Jan 09, 2018
A housedwife, Bayonle Bamidele, on Tuesday told an Idi-Ogungun
Customary Court in Agodi, Ibadan, that she denied and beat up her husband,
Adeyemi Bamidele, anytime he demanded sex for fear of contracting HIV. She said her husband was a womanizer who always brought his female friends to their matrimonial home. She explained,
“I have warned him to stop promiscuity to avoid contracting HIV, but he didn’t listen to me.
Bayonle urged the court to grant the request of her husband, saying she was not ready to give her body to the flirt. The husband, a retiree, had approached the court for dissolution of his eight-year marriage with Bayonle on the ground that she denied him sex. He also alleged that the defendant always beat him whenever he demanded sex.
“The union of eight years is yet to produce a child, worst still, she denies me sex and beat me whenever I make move to sleep with her. She is a wicked woman, am tired of living with a wife that refused to give me sex” he said. Mukaila Balogun, dissolved the marriage and directed the plaintiff to pay N5000 to the defendant to pack her belongings from the plaintiff’s house
Religion / Egpt's Grand Mufti Endorses Bitcoin Trading Ban by asulyman1(m): 11:14am On Jan 05, 2018
Egpt's top imam has endorsed a ban on trading in Bitcoin by declaring it "forbidden" by Islam Sheikh Shawki Allam, the Grand Mutfi, said the digital crypto-currency carried risks of "fraudulence, lack of knowledge, and cheating". The Grand Mufti said risks could arise because the virtual currency was not subject to surveillance by any centralized authority.
"Bitcoin is forbidden in Sharia as it causes harm to individuals, groups and institutions, "the fatwa said, as reported by Egyptian daily Ahram. in August 2017, Egypt's first bitcoin exchange was opened. The crypto-currency was declared illegitimate by the authorities last month. An adviser to the Grand Mufti, Magdy Ashour, told Egpt Today that Bitcoin was "used directly to found terrorists".
