@chilanfarms. Thank you for your concern. Who exactly sold the fish to you? I know there are many farmers there. Thank you. |
@barby008, Ibadan. |
@barby008. I would have loved to buy from your fingerlings but for the distance. Currently I need about 2-3,000 fingerlings. |
hi, everyone in the house, is there any Zeigler feeds seller in Ibadan? his or her phone number pls? |
@Teepompey. What is the age of the fish you want to feed with this formula? I think SBM is Soya Bean meal? |
@Hebraham. ok. than you very much. |
@soft777. 1. thank you for your concern. Mr. Robonski and other gurus in the house, pls how can you help me on good fingerlings? 2. I think you can still continue your contributions here. I have spent almost a month now and have not finished the number of pages on this thread. I have been going back and forth to update myself. If you now says that we should start from the beginning of agricnetwork.com, that is going to take another greater time. In fact, I have checked the forum but there were several topics there. Which topic is your own OR that you are going to send your posts to? I think you can give us the information here also, to keep this thread going. 3. Once again, thank you very much. |
Hello everyone in the house. I am in Ibadan and in need of fingerlings of appropriate size and duration. About 3,000pcs, No runts please and please. I had bad experience in my last harvest with great loss running into more than half of a million naira. It was my first experience and I almost close up the business but for some hope I am getting from this forum. Hence, I want to give it a second chance. Thank you for your understanding. |
@soft777. You guys are really trying to make fish farming soft soft and profitable. Thank you for gradually releasing vital information about fish feeds. I really commend you on your efforts. Pls, based on the information given so far, I have these questions: 1. is it proper or sufficient to use only TWO ingredients in formulating fish feed? 2. What is hydrolyzed feather? Is it when feather is boiled that it is referred to as hydrolyzed feather? OR, is there any process to subject feather to be4 it is Hydrolized feather? Awaiting your response. NOTE: Kindly give us other information you have on this tread rather than referring us to . Some of us may not be familiar with that forum. thank you. |
@olorunosebilae. Thanks for your response. Monatan is a very big area. pls I need more description and possibly their phone number. It will help me a lot. thank you once again. |
Pls, everybody in the house, where can I get Fish Meal (72% and 65%) to buy in large quantities i.e. in bags? I need this information urgently pls. thank you. |
@ Robonski. Thank you very much sir. I think it worths trying. |
Oga Robonski, This your project remind me of how we can combine tilapia and catfish in the same pond such that tilapia will serve as foods to the catfish. Pls, how can we do this successfully without overstocking a earthen pond of 34 by 45 feet. At what stage can one introduce tilapia into the pond. And, at what proportion? I learnt that tilapia fishes mature and lay eggs at a very short time. Oga excelsior, Ab1x and other gurus, pls I need your responses on this. tx. |
YES o! Thank you our HOD. |
Pls, everybody in the house, where can I get Fish Meal (72% and 65%) to buy in large quantities i.e. in bags? I need this information urgently pls. thank you. |
@ Sudirnge1. which of the formula? there are many formula from oga Ab1x. Oga Ab1x, pls help us. can we substitute molasses for flour? thank you. |
@sudirnge1. Why do you have to substitute an ingredient of low cost for a costlier one. Flour is costlier than molasses. Or, do you have access to flour free of charge? I am sorry Teepompey, I directed my earlier post to you. The post was meant for Sudirnge1. Post the formula you want to use and let experts in the house help you. You will be better informed. Or, are you one those people that do hide feed formula from other people's benefits? Lol. Do not mind me my sister. By doing this, someone like me who likes playing with feed formula, like my Oga Ab1x, will also benefit. Thank you. |
Hi People from Ibadan. How much are the following feeds currently sold : Coppens 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1.2mm and 1.5mm? Thank you. |
@ Teepompey. Do you have any feed formula you are using from where you want to reduce the ingredient? Let us see the formula so that you can be advised better. I think it is better that way. |
@ mercilicious. thank you for the invaluable information. pls, are we to put the cow manure in bags into the pond or we are going to spread them into water in the pond? I think it worth trying and results shared in this forum. I will try to experiment it because I will be stocking in few days time. |
@Uokhaboy, Thank you. |
@Chilanfarm. Ringroad Area. Thank you sir. |
@Uokhaboy, Wao! Thank you very much for your response. Though the place is very far from Bodija where I am. Pls, I think you must have been patronizing the feedmill. Do you keep their receipts? Prices of some items should be there. You may even download it for us to see like Ab1x did sometimes. I am really very grateful. |
Oga Robonski and other Nairalanders Gurus from Ibadan, kindly assist me pls on the request. I want to prepare an estimates or budget for next season and you know the budget MUST be realistic as much as possible. thank you. |
No one provided answers to my questions since yesterday. Pls, fellow Nairalanders, I still need the market prices of these materials and ingredients in Ibadan: 1. Fish Meal (72%) (1 kg) 2. Toasted Soya (1 kg) 3. GNC (1 kg) 4. Biscuits (1 kg) 5. Indomie (1 kg) 6. Maize (1 kg) 7. Flour (1 kg or 1 bag of 50kg) 8. Premix (1 kg) 9. Lyzine (1 kg) 10. DCP (1 kg) 11. Vit. C (100g) 12. Molasis (1 kg) 13. Flexinor (1 kg) 14. Salt (1 kg) 15. Enzyme 16. Livtovit 17. Aquapro (1 sachet) 18. Broiler starter feed (1 kg or 1 bag of 25kg) 19. Bambara Nuts (1 kg) 20. Agric lime Also, what is the current cost of Grinding and pelleting charge by Feed Mill in Ibadan? Can someone also recommend a very reliable and trustworthy Feedmill to me? Pls, Nairalanders in Ibadan, help me out, promptly. I shall be grateful. |
@seunaina2 You did not tell us the growth of your fishes having used the 35%FM formula. However, you need to consider the Crude Protein percentage of the Topfeed 3mm you want to switch to compared to the Crude Protein percentage you gave your fishes when you used the local feeds. In fact, having used 35%FM formula 2 times, it is expected that you will shift to using 30%FM which is less costlier than 35%FM formula, Based on your location, I think the 30% FM formula should cost you almost the same as Topfeed. The cost should be around N268/kg. You may calculate the cost to confirm. Most importantly, do not allow a great discrepancy between the Crude Protein percentage of the 35%FM and the choice you want to make now so as not to affect drastically the growth rate pattern you have established for your fishes. Also check the Crude Protein percentage of the 3mm Topfeed you are proposing. Take care . |

Thank you. Thank you. And, thank you the Great Tutor. Let me say something about you this night. You fit well to be in academic lecturing. I suspect you have the ability though I have not seen you personally and I do not even know how you look like but something in me tells me many things about the kind of person you are. Pls, keep it up. One day, you shall be rewarded by someone beyond your imagination. Keep up the continuous researches on fish feeding. You and other valuable contributors are God gifts to this forum. I will be feeding you guys back intermittently when I start the journey. Thank you once again. |
Sorry, my tutor Ab1x. There is still some important questions that need attention: 1. I have never used Coppens feeds, Are 0.8mm, 1.2mm and 2.0mm all in 15kg bags? 2. Then, sir, what is the percentage of maize and flour to include in the formula once the fishes are 3 months old? 3. I suspect maize and flour should be included in Formula 4 and 5? thank you. |
Thank you again Ab1x. I think the number of fish should still be 2,000 fingerlings? Then, I only have the complete formula for 40% FM which you gave sometimes in 2013. Can we combine as follow: Formula 1: FM-50KG, TS-20kg, GNC-20kg, Indomie/Biscts-10KG Premix-1KG, Lysine-1kg, Vit.C-200gram, DCP-1kg, Molasis-10kg, Flex-1kg, Salt-1kg Formula 2: FM-45KG, TS-20kg, GNC-20kg, Indomie/Biscts-15KG Premix-1KG, Lysine-1kg, Vit.C-200gram, DCP-1kg, Molasis-10kg, Flex-1kg, Salt-1kg Formula 3: FM-40KG, TS-20kg, GNC-20kg, Indomie/Biscts-20KG Premix-0.5KG, Lysine-1kg, Vit.C-100gram, DCP-0.5kg, Molasis-10kg, Flex-1kg, Salt-0.5kg Formula 4: FM-35KG, TS-22kg, GNC-22kg, Indomie/Biscts-21KG Premix-1KG, Lysine-1kg, Vit.C-100gram, DCP-1kg, Molasis-10kg, Flex-1kg, Salt-1kg Formula 5: FM-30KG, TS-25kg, GNC-25kg, Indomie/Biscts-20KG Premix-1KG, Lysine-1kg, Vit.C-100gram, DCP-1kg, Molasis-10kg, Flex-1kg, Salt-1kg Formula 6: FM-30KG, TS-60kg, GNC-60kg, Flour-45KG, Broiler Starter-75kg, Indomie/Biscts-30KG, Premix-1KG, Lysine-1kg, Vit.C-150gram, DCP-1kg, Molasis-10kg, Flex-1kg, Salt-1kg. Kindly point out any important adjustment(s) because I intend to use this template for my next batch of fingerlings which will be stocked in say, next three weeks. I know I have to start with Coppens of 0.8mm-2 bags, 1.2mm-2bags and 2.0mm-1bag before using the local feeds. Pls, are 0.8mm, 1.2mm and 2.0mm Coppens in 15kg bags? Thank you for always being there for people like us that are new on this forum. |
thank you, Ab1x. After adjusting FM to 30%, I believe this is another formula i.e. Formula 2. For how long should we use this formula too? And what next up to 4months and 10 days you earlier specified? I am sorry for the trouble. I want to get things right now because I have experienced losses two times due to feeding. Thanks. |
@ ab1x. I trust you my dear AB Farms. The receipt practically show everything. This is wonderful. Pls, for how long can one uses this formula before changing to another one that will be less costlier? |
