Dr. Folabora Adekoya Bryhm Reaffirms Commitment to the Rescue and Renewal of Kogi State

The 2027 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kogi State Gubernatorial Aspirant, Dr. Folabora Adekoya Bryhm, has extended a New Year message of hope, courage and purposeful leadership to the good people of Kogi State, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to rebuilding the state despite prevailing challenges.

Dr. Bryhm described 2025 as a year of profound hardship for Kogi State, marked by deepening poverty, gross inequality, injustice, rising insecurity, kidnapping, loss of innocent lives, the collapse of public education and the steady decay of the healthcare system.

“While we survived the year, many families did so with pain, fear and uncertainty—uncertain of what tomorrow holds for them and for their children,” he said.

He emphasized that the answer lies squarely in the hands of the people, noting that the decisions and actions taken over the next fifteen months will determine the destiny of Kogi State.

Dr. Bryhm reaffirmed his readiness to provide purpose-driven, compassionate, and accountable leadership, anchored on justice, security, inclusive governance and economic revival.

The 2027 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Aspirant in Kogi State, Dr. Folabora Adekoya Bryhm, has extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to Christians across Kogi State and in the diaspora, using the sacred occasion to reaffirm his unwavering commitment to peace, security, and the restoration of hope across the state.

In a statement signed and issued on Wednesday, 24th December 2025, by his Media Office, Dr. Bryhm described Christmas as a season that transcends celebration, calling it a defining moment for sober reflection, spiritual renewal, and collective action in addressing the security and social challenges confronting Kogi State.

Dr. Bryhm noted that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes hope, peace, sacrifice, and purposeful leadership—virtues he said must guide governance and public service, particularly at a time when insecurity continues to threaten lives, livelihoods, and communal harmony.

According to him, no society can achieve sustainable development without peace and security, stressing that the safety of lives and property must remain the foremost responsibility of leadership.

Our state cannot attain its full potential while fear and insecurity persist. Leadership must be proactive, compassionate, and decisive in confronting these challenges, and with God’s guidance and collective resolve, Kogi will rise stronger,” Dr. Bryhm stated.

Dr. Folabora Mourns the Passing of HRH Alh. Muhammed Sani Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom

Dr. Folabora Bryhm has joined the Kakanda Kingdom and all of Kogi State in mourning the loss of the respected monarch, His Royal Highness Mallam Muhammed Sani Alhassan, the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom.

Describing the news of his passing as heartbreaking, Dr. Folabora pointed out that HRH Agankyu's death comes at a time when the people of Kakanda Bodun and all of Kogi State needed his guidance the most.

He called the late Agankyu “a monarch whose reign was marked by compassion, wise leadership, cultural preservation, and a strong dedication to the wellbeing of his people.” Dr. Folabora added that his death signifies the end of an era and creates a gap that will be hard to fill.

As a royal father, HRH Alh. Muhammed Sani promoted peace across Kakanda, frequently settling disputes with wisdom and providing thoughtful solutions to complex issues. His integrity, leadership, and commitment to unity serve as an example worth following.

Kogi Local Government PDP Inaugurates Newly Constituted Party Executives

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi Local Government has officially inaugurated its newly formed party executives in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The event reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity, effective leadership, and grassroots mobilization. It marked an important step in efforts to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of upcoming elections.

During the inauguration, Hon. Shaba Ibrahim Member representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency at the 9th Assembly praised party members for their ongoing support and dedication to the PDP. The young people of Kogi State stand at a defining crossroads. They constitute nearly 70% of our population, an extraordinary human asset that should be the engine of our progress. Yet decades of leadership failure have turned this demographic advantage into a burden, leaving our youth to bear the weight of economic stagnation, insecurity, and shrinking opportunities.

Across Nigeria, the picture is no less troubling. Our young men and women are set to inherit a staggering national debt exceeding N35 trillion. Youth unemployment hovers above 40%. The “japa” phenomenon, a desperate exodus in search of dignity and livelihood has become a painful symbol of a nation unable to nurture its own talents. Many embark on perilous journeys to places far smaller and poorer than the country they leave behind.

In Northern Nigeria, and Kogi State in particular, these challenges are even more acute. Widespread poverty, lack of economic opportunities, millions of out-of-school children, rising criminality, and a drug epidemic threaten not only the present but the future of our beloved state. Despite their overwhelming numbers, young people remain sidelined—under-represented, unheard, and under-utilised in governance.

It is in recognition of their struggles and in solidarity with their aspirations that I, Dr. Folabora Adekoya Bryhm, present my Youth Advancement Agenda, in line with the Kogi Development Agenda, a comprehensive blueprint to reclaim the future of Kogi State. If elected Governor in 2027, I pledge to implement the following:

1. Innovation and Start-Ups Fund

We will establish a N1 Billion Venture Capital Fund, in partnership with the private sector, dedicated exclusively to businesses and innovations owned by young Kogites. The fund will:

• Provide equity financing for youth-led start-ups

• Support large-scale skills training

• Finance the development and mass production of innovative products

With prudent economic management, this initiative will create over one million direct and indirect jobs within ten years, drastically reduce youth emigration, and encourage diaspora return.

2. Transitional Youth Support Scheme

We will introduce a structured support program for young jobseekers—lasting six months to one year—linked to compulsory skills acquisition or retraining. This temporary safety net will empower young people to transition confidently into meaningful employment.

3. Inclusive and Youth-Focused Governance

My administration will set a new standard for inclusion.

• 50% of appointments will be reserved for young people, aligning with and surpassing the PDP policy of 35% affirmative action for youth and women.

• We will strive for a cabinet that is simultaneously 50% youth and 50% women, reflecting a balanced, progressive, and merit-driven leadership team.

4. Leadership Mentorship Programme

To prepare the next generation of leaders, we will create a structured mentorship program that provides young Kogites with hands-on governance experience, leadership training, and direct exposure to decision-making processes.

5. Intergenerational Equity Council

We will establish an Intergenerational Equity Council to institutionalize youth participation in policymaking. This advisory body will:

• Promote youth inclusion in economic and governance structures

• Reinforce civic engagement

• Protect constitutional rights, including the right to peaceful protest

• Oversee implementation of youth-centered policies

6. A Reimagined Education Sector

We will raise education funding from the current 5% to 15% and ensure:

• Better remuneration for teachers

• A modern, technology-driven curriculum

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lokoja Local Government has officially sworn in its newly elected Local Government Executive Committee members along with executives from the ten wards within the council area.

During the ceremony, the newly inaugurated officials took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office. This showed their commitment to serve the party with dedication and integrity.

The Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Gubernatorial Aspirant, Dr. Folabora Adekoya Bryhm, has expressed deep concern over the recent and troubling wave of attacks on worship centres in Egbe and Ejiba, describing the incidents as a stark indication of an escalating security crisis that requires immediate and coordinated government intervention.

The attempted assault on a church behind Ayshat Hotel in Egbe, courageously repelled by local vigilantes and the tragic abduction of a pastor and several worshippers in Ejiba underscore a dangerous pattern of violence that threatens the peace, stability and communal harmony of Kogi State.

Dr. Bryhm commended the bravery and rapid response of the community vigilante groups, while stressing that such efforts, though commendable, cannot replace the government’s constitutional obligation to protect lives and property. According to him, when citizens are compelled to rely on self-help for their safety, it signals a critical weakening of the state’s security architecture.

He further emphasized that security is the bedrock of peace, economic growth, and sustainable development, noting that no society can thrive when its sacred spaces become targets of violence and its citizens live under constant fear.

To address the rising insecurity, Dr. Bryhm calls on both the Kogi State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to urgently implement the following measures:

• Strengthen security deployment across all identified flashpoints and vulnerable communities.

• Enhance coordination, training, and support for local security networks, ensuring effective synergy with formal security agencies.

• Deploy intelligence-led operations aimed at identifying and dismantling criminal enclaves, camps, and syndicates.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), regrets the tragic incident of the kidnapping of school children at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Niger State, describing it as a sad development and unfortunate.

This statement was made earlier today during a high-powered sympathy visit to the state by the Party’s NWC following the recent traumatic abduction of school children and other citizens in the state.

The delegation, which was led by the PDP’s National Chairman, HE Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, and other members of the NWC, was received at the Government House, Minna by the Executive Governor of Niger State, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago.

During the visit, the PDP NWC expressed deep pain and anguish over the rising wave of insecurity in Niger State and other parts of the country, particularly the heartbreaking abduction of innocent school children.

As a party that believes in the sanctity of life and the right of every Nigerian child to education without fear, the Party strongly condemns the attack and all acts of terror against Nigerians.

The National Chairman commended Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his prompt response and ongoing efforts in collaboration with security agencies to secure the release of the abducted children and restore peace in the affected communities.
