A Text of Press briefing by the Convener of Save Nigeria Movement, Rev Solomon Semaka on the 23rd day of March 2022 at Charity House, Opposite Buhari International Market, Karu.


The importance of this press briefing is to respond to the needless press conference of the presidents of middle belt youths Forum on 22nd March, 2022 calling for the sack of the Director General of Department of State Services, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi.

This is laughable. There was never a time the Service or its DG mentioned governors. We can clearly remember that the DSS issued a statement on 19th March, 2022 and alerted the public of plans by some elements to stoke violence in parts of the country particularly the North Central zone. The following day, the Vanguard newspaper published that 3 governors were on the watch of security agencies. To the best of our knowledge, Vanguard never mentioned the DSS.

We are utterly surprised that the MiddleBelt group would ascribe the Vanguard report to the DSS. But we seem to understand your fears. You are possibly exposing your masters by attacking what was never ascribed to them. How regrettable that you advertised your ignorance in the public space especially for malicious intents.


To put the records straight and address the misinformation and outright lies contained in that press statement, it is the duty of DSS to gather intelligence and inform Nigerians about possible threats. It is also the duty of the DSS to take proactive steps to forestall and quell internal uprisings. If the DSS has uncovered a plot by some persons it did not mention to incite violence and make the country ungovernable, then they should be praised for doing their duty professionally. The DSS works round the clock to safeguard lives and property in the country. This kind of statement coming from youths who should know better is disgusting and shameful.


It is easy to chronicle isolated security incidences to push home a false narrative that the federal government is not doing well or to divert people's attention from the situation on ground in some states. It is however, uncharitable to refuse to acknowledge the numerous successes the DSS and other security agencies are doing to combat insecurity. Such behaviour is tantamount to wishing the state to fail. The good news is that Nigeria has not failed and her institutions are solid and delivering to the chagrin of corrupt and politically reckless leaders.

The federal government cannot use the DSS to witch-hunt any governor as was alleged in that pointless press statement. There will be no justification to go after any state governor simply because they do not agree with Mr. President. Governors are covered by constitutional immunity that protects them from prosection. It does not add up to say that the federal government is setting them up. Why choose them amongst all others? The group may face Vanguard newspaper.

Calling for the sack of the Director of the DSS is shameful. Instead of demanding for his sack, it is better to address the issues raised by the revelations in the DSS report. Criminal elements intent on causing civil disturbance must desist if not the full weight of the law will descend on them. Please leave the DGSS alone. Allow him to continue his good works.


This is a clarion call to all youths especially in the middle belt to prevail on their state governors to pay salaries with approved federal government scales to reduce the hardship people are facing in their states. Youths should hold their leaders accountable and resist being used as thugs and hatchet men. This is the highest duty of youths to their states and country. Making themselves available to be used by rogue governors and political leaders must stop henceforth.

May Nigeria succeed and may criminal elements fail ten times .

The All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention screening committee Tuesday night concluded screening of national chairmanship aspirants, with Senator representing Nasarawa West in the National Assembly, Adamu Abdullahi failing to show up.

The implication is that Abdullahi's name would not be on the ballot as a contender for the position of national chairman at the party's national convention on Saturday.

Those screened by the Governor Aminu Masari-led committee include Senators Sani Musa, Tanko Al-Makura, George Akume and a former governor of Zamfara State. Abdul'Aziz Yari. Also screened were Alhaji Salihu Mustapha and Mohammed Etsu.

Citing "party supremacy" and the zoning of the national chairmanship position to the North Central, an aspirant, Dr. Sani Shinkafi, who like Yari is from Zamfara State, pulled out few hours to the screening excercise.

No reason was cited for Senator Abdullahi's inability to show up, even as the Masari-led commuttee moved on with the screening of other categories of party offices.

Senator Abdullahi had caused a stir when he claimed President Muhammadu Buhari endorsed him as the sole candidate. He also claimed the Senate leadership endorsed him.

APC sources, however, hinted that party elders may have advised Abdullahi to drop his national championship aspiration in view of the controversy his candidacy had generated.

"To begin with, Senator Abdullahi was the last to indicate interest. He opened his campaign office a few days ago. He allowed his state governor Abdullahi Sule and the entire Nasarawa APC endorse Tanko Al'Makura before coming out with his ambition," offered a party elder.

"Even at that, he falsely claimed President Buhari and the Senate leadership endorsed him, prompting the Presidency and the Senate leadership to issue a disclaimer.

"APC had also said they didn't want any candidate with baggage. If you recall, the senator has a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and AMCON, not to talk of the fact that he's nearly 80 years old. We want a virile party; a party that will meet the expectations of young Nigerians," the chieftain declared.

Senate spokesman, Senator Ajibola Bashiru has debunked reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the legislative house has endorsed Senator Abdullahi Adamu as its candidate for the position of APC national chairman.

Some principal officers of the Senate had last Thursday graced the official commissioning of the Senator Abdullahi Adamu campaign secretariat in Abuja, spawning speculation that the caucus may have endorsed the senator.

But, responding to enquires, the Senate spokesman said the senators who attended the ceremony did so in their private capacities, not as representatives of the Senate APC caucus.

"There are three senators vying for the position of APC national chairman. Senator Sani Musa from Niger. The other two- Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Al-Makura are from Nasarawa. To the best of my knowledge, we haven't as a caucus decided on who to support.

"As distinguished legislators, it would be to our outmost joy to have one of our own emerge national chairman. This is democracy, and so people are free to support whomsoever they wish to. But as we speak, there's no time we took a position on any of the three candidates," noted Senator Bashiru.

Senator Adamu, who was the last entrant to the APC national chairmanship race, had weeks ago caused a stir by claiming that he got the nod of President Muhammadu Buhari as the consensus candidate. Adamu's claim promoted presidential spokesman Femi Adesina to issue a disclaimer that his boss had no preferred candidate.

Reacting, several senators who attended the event wondered why Senator Adamu was resorting to what they described as "blackmail."

Said a principal officer; "I was most embarrassed by the report. The other time he took photos with us, he went to town with the lie that the Senate leadership endorsed him. Now, after begging us to attend the commissioning of his campaign secretariat, the next story is that the caucus endorsed him. This is terrible for such an old man!"

Another senator expressed disappointment that Senator Adamu was dropping names, regretting that the development was already causing disaffection in the Senate.

"In a way, I feel that Senator Adamu realizes that he is the most unfit to be national chairman, that is the reason he is resorting to subterfuge. He's the oldest, the least vibrant; in short, the most unfit for the job," the senator declared.

...Governor advices him to continue consultations.

Leading aspirant for the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa Tuesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital paid a consultative visit to chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

The frontline Chairmanship aspirant and Chairman, Senate Services Committee, and his team were received by Governor Akeredolu at the Government House, Alagbaka. Senator Sani Musa reeled out his lofty plans for APC, if elected national chairman, and solicited the governor's support to help him bring the plans to fruition.

Responding, Governor Akeredolu advised Sen. Sani Musa to remain focussed and to continue his consultations. Urging the aspirant not to be distracted, the governor harped on the leadership qualities expected of the incoming APC national chairman.

Governor Akeredolu further envisioned for APC, a national chairman that is energetic, accessible, people-oriented and has the capacity to sit down, listen and interact with party members.

While emphasizing that the APC at this crucial stage will do well to avoid candidates with predetermined ulterior motives for the party even before they assume leadership, the governor praised the intellectual capacity of Sen. Musa, describing him as the kind of leader needed for the party to progress ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Governor Akeredolu disclosed that he isn't against APC zoning offices so long as the zoning reflects equity, fairness and justice. He encouraged Senator Sani Musa to continue meeting and consulting leaders and stakeholders of the party, declaring, “it is not over, until it is over!"

More facts have emerged on why President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Governor Mai Mala Bunu as the Chairman Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Bunu led CECPC was said to be conniving with a former Security Chief from one of the North West state whose son was recently impeached, a former military dictator and former number two from a northeast state to destabilize the APC.

It would be recalled that President Buhari had in what appears to be a major step in containing the crisis plaguing the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had approved the removal of the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as the Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party and in his stead, appointed his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Sani Bello.


A faction of the APC governors was alleged to have complained bitterly to the president that Buni was not inclined to holding the convention as rescheduled, because there were no preparations on the ground to indicate so.


Apparently miffed by the what he was told, the president was said to have immediately directed that Buni be removed and replaced.


Buni is currently in Dubai for medical reasons and was not around to defend himself. But the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and another top Villa player, were said to have intervened on behalf of Buni, when they got wind of the development, and advised the president to exercise caution against such action.


They were said to have reminded Buhari it was only the NEC of the Party that could convene and remove Buni, and after he must have been given seven days notice of removal. They, however, contended that anything outside the laid down processes, could be challenged in court, with the potential of disrupting the rescheduled March 26 Convention date.


It was not certain, however, whether the intervention changed the President’s mind. But some insiders, who spoke on the development this morning, expressed displeasure that some governors went to ambush the president just before he left the country without their knowledge and created a totally false narrative that Buni did not want to hold the convention.


“They are creating unnecessary crisis in the party, because of their selfish interests. How can they claim there are no preparations to hold the convention, when various convention sub-committees have been announced; the zonal committee is announcing the zoning formula on Monday (today).


“Committees will be inaugurated in a few days. These people are not sincere. Some governors have been scheming to take over the functions of CECPC to further their own interests.
The immediate way out of this is; if Buni voluntarily resigns, which he had two weeks ago threatened to during the APC governors meeting in Abuja,” they claimed.

... Intensifies consultations, strategies as convention nears

Ahead of the March 26th National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) frontline Chairmanship aspirant Senator Sani Musa has restated his determination to re-engineer the internal structures and workings of the party to win elections if elected.

Sen Musa in continuation of of his interactions with the party’s stakeholders noted “if giving the opportunity to lead the party I will completely re-engineer the internal structures and workings of the party. APC needs total leadership reorientation for it to actualize its institutional potentials.Hence, I will be adaptive to participatory and affiliative work style that will usher visionary and pacesetting leadership for the party that will give the party a new direction and philosophy.

“APC must be made an institution which is the only antidote to reckless abuse of office and ethics which brings about disharmony and wrangling within the various organs of the party viz a viz its followers. My reform agenda for the party is expressed in what I call the three Rs for success, that is, Reconciliation, Reorganization and Redirection. We need to immediately reconcile aggrieved members of the party at all levels on a sustainable basis” he added.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Services further stated that “we need to reorganize the party in such a manner that it is able to effectively mobilise all segments of the country from youths to women groups to meet up with the INEC timetable timelines for 2023 elections. And thirdly we must redirect our efforts towards winning elections and nation building and not wrangling.

“Most importantly we shall govern by the rule of law, abide by the party constitution, guidelines, manifesto and in line with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. We will run an inclusive leadership that is devoid of the habitual grain of the entrenched political culture of dynastic politics, sectionalism, favoritism, money politics, parasitism on the public pay roll, cronyism and patronage” he noted.

Senator Musa maintained that “we shall thrive to be self funding and not rely on individuals that will later want to be dictating the tunes and which will create wrangling and disharmony in the party. Under my leadership the party will embrace more technology in our operations which will reduce waste and abuse of our party best practices.

“We will run a party that will preserve the legacy of our founding fathers to build a strong country that is more tolerant, more prosperous and fairer by giving every member of the party equal opportunity. Disputes are indispensable in democracy because democracy allows for different shades of opinions. This in itself is not a disadvantage because it allows people to learn from such disputes and even matters that end up in courts afford the judiciary the opportunity to expound and develop the law regarding issues in dispute which serve as precedents for the future” he said.

Senator Musa pointed out that “so I don’t see how disputes will affect the convention. I do believe that once I emerge the chairman of the APC, my reform agenda will address most of these challenges and reposition the party for the better. We believe in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, and the president been a democrat will never subscribe to imposition against the will of the majority party faithfuls. Hence we shall continue our consultations and prepare ourselves for the national convention with the hope of winning the National Chairmanship contest.

“Furthermore as genuine party faithfuls we will always be open to abide by any genuine considerations with superior reasoning if brokered by Mr. President in return for a consensus arrangement, and cannot be pushed away and in a manner like what is been peddled now as endorsement of a non prepared individual as one” he added.

Let me begin by stating unequivocally that I have spent my entire service life defending my nation and democracy because I am convinced that it is the political system most conducive to peace, sustainable development, the rule of law, and respect for human rights, which are the three pillars of any healthy and democratic nation.

Permit me to utilize this opportunity to congratulate Nigeria and all Nigerians, particularly the youth, on 22 years of uninterrupted democratic administration. Some may argue that Nigeria's young democracy is nothing to celebrate because its elections, which are designed to serve as means for the peaceful resolution of political rivalries, are frequently flashpoints for political bloodshed.

I concur that elections devoid of integrity cannot bring legitimacy to the winners, security to the losers, or public confidence in their leaders and institutions.

This weakens polities by encouraging disaffected groups to seek out less constructive outlets for their discontent. Because of this challenge associated with all nascent democracies, some people feel that there is no need to commend the Nigerian democratic project.

I respectfully disagree. We are evolving, and as you can see, the system is improving daily as a result of our leaders' periodic enhancements to the democratic system. For instance, the 2022 Electoral Act which the President, Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari just signed into law, is a factor that will undoubtedly improve the transparency and acceptability of the country's future elections and promote democratic governance.

Democracy remains a universal aspiration because it actually delivers. For example, of the twenty countries with highest levels of human development as measured by the UN’s human development index, nineteen are liberal democracies. Among the top forty, thirty-six are liberal democracies. And even the citizens of poorer democracies live, on average, nine years longer than citizens of poor autocracies, because they have better access to health and education. Democracies are also less vulnerable to famines and conflicts.

It was the Greek philosopher, Aristotle, who said, "Man is, by nature, a political animal." It means that a man is born, lives, and dies as a member of a community, and the affairs of that community are therefore his and vice-versa. This is why since my transition back to civilian life from the Army, I have continued to participate in every civic activity I could to promote peace and strengthen our democracy. It is the reason I decided to send this message to all Nigerian youths.

Democracy is known as the finest form of government. Why so? It is because in a democracy, the people of the country choose their leaders who will then form a government to lead them. They enjoy certain rights that are very essential for any human being to live freely and happily. On the other hand, Good governance has been defined to refer to structures and processes that are designed to ensure accountability, transparency, responsiveness, rule of law, stability, equity and inclusiveness, empowerment, and broad-based participation. Good governance also represents the norms, values and rules of the game through which public affairs are managed in a manner that is transparent, participatory, inclusive and responsive.

If we want to continue to make our democracy work and deliver dividends, we must take the critical issues of participation and a vibrant democratic system in Nigeria as sacrosanct, and our youths must embrace what I termed political dynamism. Political dynamism can be defined as vigorous political activity that is geared towards progress, and strength in the polity. It is usually characterized by patriotism, service to the fatherland, and youth inclusivity. Youth can be a creative force, a dynamic source of innovations, and they have undoubtedly, throughout history, participated, contributed, and even catalyzed important changes in political systems, power-sharing dynamics, and economic opportunities.

However, young people also face poverty, barriers to education, multiple forms of discrimination, and limited employment prospects and opportunities. This is a global challenge although it differs across countries, and it is why the youth must take the issue of electing their leaders very seriously. Our greatest resource as a country is not crude oil or any of the natural minerals but our population, our youth. Today, we have the largest global youth population in history, and the large majority of young people around the world are committed to peace, sustainable development, and human rights. Throughout my time in the Army, I've met with many groups of young people, including youth groups, student groups, and young leaders. I've always been impressed by their talent, knowledge, and desire to make the world a better place.

If I should take you back to memory lane to the history of our founding fathers, which most people agree that Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo agreed on, you will find out that they all started as youths fired by political dynamism. Dr. Azikiwe captured the nation’s attention when, in 1937, he arrived in Nigeria with an electrifying personality and a bundle of talents, and on November 22, 1937, he published the maiden edition of his popular newspaper, The West African Pilot. The Sardauna started to experiment with his leadership qualities right from Katsina Teachers’ College, and later on, through political dynamism characterized by inclusiveness of all ethnic nationalities in the North. Same with Awolowo who showed his people the power of education as a liberating and equalizing force in any society. All three of these great leaders practiced political dynamism characterized by non-violence, patriotism, human development, and service to humanity.

The first time all three met together was on Friday, June 19, 1953. Enahoro’s Self-Government-Now bill and the consequent resignation of all the Action Group’s federal ministers caused a constitutional crisis which made Nigeria ungovernable. Oliver Lyttleton, the secretary of state for colonies, tried to salvage the situation by inviting the main players to a constitutional conference in London. But Awolowo and Azikiwe, who had become friends since Enahoro’s bill was tabled, refused the terms and conditions. Because the Sardauna was fine with them, Macpherson, Nigeria’s governor, brought Sardauna, Azikiwe and Awolowo together in his office to jointly fashion new terms and conditions.

After the meeting, which ended at 10:10pm, he presented the trio to the media and the Daily Times the following day, naming them The Big Three. Since then, it has stuck that they were founding fathers because their tribes and their parties were the largest and because it offered an inclusive impression that all the regions had a say in the formation of the country.

In countries emerging from or facing conflicts, young people can engage in peace-building by leading non-violent movements and using innovative solutions to mobilize societies to bring about the needed transformation. Young people have demonstrated the potential to build bridges across communities, working together to help manage conflict and promote peace. Young people play a big role in conflict and peace-building, and they can be agents of peaceful change and help rebuild lives and communities, making the world a better place.

President Muhammadu Buhari has laid a foundation for a new Nigeria. Despite the myriad of challenges, he has kept faith with his vision and principles. The youths must carry these vision and principles beyond this administration. The legacies must be protected for a greater Nigeria and a formidable future generations.

My message to young people today is that they must not let themselves be used as willing tools by do-or-die politicians who want to stir up trouble in their communities. Instead, you must embrace the tenets of political dynamism and root out every factor that contributes to the democracy deficit in Nigeria, namely voter apathy, ballot snatching, looting, arson, and the likes. You constitute a large percentage of our voting and working population. You are also going to be the number one population block that will suffer the consequences of bad governance and incompetent leaders in the future. Therefore, you must do everything to safeguard your future survival and welfare in mind. Get actively involved in the democratic process by joining a political party and electing those who will lead you. Remember that voting is a civic duty expected of every Nigerian.

Earlier today, Niger East Senator and frontline aspirant for the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa was at the Plateau State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja on a courtesy visit to his Excellency, Governor Simon Lalong.

Senator Sani Musa unveiled his plans to reposition the party and introduce innovative strategies and technology that will have far-reaching effect in resolving most of the challenges bedeviling the party.

The Chairman Committee on Senate Services, Sani Musa and Governor Lalong also spoke extensively on moving the party forward, especially with regards to the upcoming March 26 National Convention of the APC.

They both agreed on the need for the party to conduct a hitch-free national convention in line with the party’s constitution and expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari, as the leader of APC, would continue to give direction and provide necessary guidance on ways to move the party forward in order to achieve equity and justice.

Governor Lalong admonished and encouraged his guest to continue with his consultations to stakeholders and leaders within the party with a promise to support his aspiration now that the position is zoned to the north central while also awaiting the final direction of our amiable leader President Muhammadu Buhari. He also noted that during period like this, it is expected to see all kinds of news flying in the media in the build up to the ruling party’s national convention, as such, he advised Senator Musa and his team to remain focused and prayerful.

Facts have emerged on how the Minister of Transport, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi drafted the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national reconciliation committee, Senator Adamu Abdullahi into the party's national chairmanship race.

Adamu had on January 31 submitted his committee's report to the APC leadership. However a few days later, in a surprise move, he announced his intention to vie for the office of the APC national chairman.

Checks revealed that the minister, who is believed to be nursing a presidential ambition, reportedly approached the former governor with a proposal to contest for the position of the APC national chairman.

Sources close to Senator Abdullahi disclosed that he pointedly rejected the proposal on the ground that it was morally wrong for a man who was appointed to reconcile a party to turn around to seek to become it's national chairman.

He was also said to have complained that he didn't have the resources to pull a campaign through, but that Minister Amaechi provided the funds through a ranking senator from Borno State penciled down to head the minister's presidential campaign whenever it kicks off

The minister was also said to have assured Senator Abdullahi tht he would use his contacts in the Presidential Villa to ensure that he gets the support of President Buhari.

In return. Abdullahi was to ensure that he used his position as national chairman to ensure Amaechi got the APC presidential ticket later in the year.

"Adamu Abdullahi pointedly told Amaechi that even if he had the energy to contest, he lacked the financial muscle considering that he is heavily indebted to some banks," offered a source close to the ministry.

The minister, in tow with Senator Ali Ndume, who has been reportedly penciled down to head the Amaechi campaign organization.

Worried by the unending crisis in APC state chapters, the party had in February 2020 appointed a former interim national chairman Chief Bisi Akande to head a 12-man reconciliation committee. Interestingly, the crisis heightened.

Following the sack of the Adams Oshiomhole-led party executive, the caretaker committee in mid-September 2021 appointed a nine-man reconciliation committee to mend the cracks. APC elders, who held that the previous panel failed because of Akande's "weakness". They suggested "a stronger personality" like Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

"The stronger personality like Senator Abdullahi has now turned out to be an albatross. The consensus kite flown by the Amaechi camp has set the party's wheel of progress back. APC governors are meeting today to see how they can salvage the situation. We're going to come out of this confusion stronger," a party chieftain declared.

Following the dismal performance of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, a pressure group, Movement for Transparency in Governance (MTG) has enjoined President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve the minister of his appointment as a consequence of the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria since he assumed office several years ago.

In a statement in Abuja by the National Coordinator, Mallam Mohammed Sanusi and Otunba Kamurdeen Ajasa, National Secretary, the duo lamented that the Minister of Interior's continued stay in office is detrimental to President Muhammadu Buhari's strident campaign to enhance peace and security in Nigeria.

They added that the incessant jail breaks across the the country have unleashed hardened criminals into the Nigerian society who commit armed robbery, kidnapping, banditry and other heinous crimes. MTG condemned the atrocious corruption in the Ministry of Interior and its agencies, alleging that Rauf Aregbesola and his son have allegedly cornered all the contracts in the Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Nigerian Correctional Service, thereby subverting the President's campaign against corruption.
Furthermore, the group chided the minister for his awkward, repugnant show of shame in Osogbo, culminating in the scuffle between the officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, the NSCDC and the Police, noting that this invidious conduct has made Nigeria a laughing stock and exacerbated the frosty relationship between the agencies in the Ministry of Interior. The MTG executives entreated President Buhari to throw the minister out from his cabinet.

Continuing, the duo lambasted Ogbeni Aregbesola for threatening to challenge the recent Osun governorship primaries, saying that "the Osun APC governorship primaries were certified free and fair by INEC and the election observers.

The group also demanded that the All Progressives Congress (APC) should sanction the minister for his subversive and anti-party activities, stating that at a time the APC was rallying its members to close ranks, Aregbesola is stoking the fire of disunity in the party. Speaking further, the duo berated the former governor for being disloyal to his benefactor, who raised him from the dust as a hotel supervisor to commissioner in Lagos State, Osun State governor for eight years and currently minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The group further denounced the minister for being used by sinister forces to undermine the clamour for southern presidency in 2023.
Concluding, the group beseeched Aregbesola to embrace peace and respect the wishes of party members who overwhelmingly nominated Governor Gboyega Oyetola as the APC governorship candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.

A pro-democracy and pressure group, Arewa Youth Agenda (AYA), has called on the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele to desist from using tax payers’ money to fuel his presidential campaign that has engulfed the entire nation for the past three weeks, and concentrate on making the Nigeria economy work and leave politics alone.

In a statement issued in Katsina State, by the Coordinator, Com Dantijo Garba and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Babangida Yusuf respectively, the group faulted the governor for dissipating time, energy and scarce resources at the CBN where he is presently employed to be sponsoring campaigns of presidential aspiration through the back door by using pseudo names called ‘Friends of Emefiele’ to the present the campaign, “Join us in Convincing Ge”.

Nigerians will attest to the fact that for the past three weeks, the country media landscape has been awash by Governor Emefiele’s posters, campaign templates, advertorials, articles, and other huge adverts across the length and breadth of the country allegedly sponsored by him.

According to the group, “Nigerians are shocked by the boldness and audacity of the CBN governor to use tax payers’ money as a full-fledged employee of government and a custodian of tax payers’ money at the CBN in financing his illegal and unacceptable presidential ambition.

“We are also further appalled that Mr. Emefiele even dropped the President’s name, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari “can support whosoever he wants to be president,” and this is against the constitution of the country for a president to be nurturing who takes over from him.”

Condemning Emefiele’s campaign caption: ‘Who is afraid of Emefiele?’ the group said: “We make bold to say and emphasize that it is utterly against the professional ethics across the globe and the Nigerian constitution for a sitting Central Bank Governor to be campaigning for presidential nomination, using tax payers’ money without resigning as stipulated in the electoral law and the constitution of the country.

“We call on Emefiele to stop this and to also inform his so-called friends to desist from heating the polity unnecessarily. The anti-graft agencies should seek for the source of fund of the campaign and stop him immediately.

Accordingly, AYA asserts that Emiefiele “is using taxpayers’ funds to seek for presidential endorsement from the private sector, using proxies “as friends of Emefiele” to perpetrate this illegality, injustice and unlawful act unbecoming of a CBN Chief Executive.

“We urge the Governor of CBN to resign his appointment if he is so interested in the presidency and join the political murky waters instead of testing his popularity while on the CBN’s top seat, using funds meant for development to fund his campaigns.

The group also said they had emphasized for the umpteenth time that Mr. Godwin Emefiele “has a moral burden hanging on his neck few years ago due to the loss of over N500 billion Dubai investment fund transaction that flew with the wind.

Insisting, the group said regrettably: “As we speak, no one from the Central bank has explained the whereabouts of the Dubai fund, whereas officers and executives involved in the transaction had been promoted to other financial institutions in the country as Chief Executives.

“So Nigerians and we (Arewa group) are watching closely the outcome of these shenanigans being perpetrated by a sitting CBN governor.

“It is also pertinent to state that since Emefiele took over the affairs of the apex institution, the Nigerian economy has nosedived and suffered tremendously, as the economy has demystified all known economic laws and theories for rejuvenation.

Regretting the hopelessness of the situation, the group added: “The economy as we speak, had been in shambles and has become one of the worst national economies with high rate of inflation pervading the land and skyrocketing market prices and forces without any foreseeable remedy for the suffering Nigerians.

Asking rhetorically, the group said: “If Emefiele cannot manage the economy where he has professional competence and calling, why does he think he can holistically manage the whole country?”

Over 350 civil society organisations (CSOs) gathered on Monday in Abuja to pass a vote of confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

President of Coalition of Civil Societies and Media Executives for Good Governance in Nigeria, Omoba Kenneth Aigbegbele, who read the coalition’s position said President Buhari inherited a dysfunctional system, including the nation’s security architecture.

COCMEGG PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON PRESIDENT BUHARI ON HIS PERFORMANCE

Gentlemen of the Press,

Permit me to welcome you all to the State-of-the-Nation World Press Conference by the Citizens Watch Advocacy Initiative (CWAI) & Coalition of Civil Societies and Media Societies and Media Executives for Good Governance in Nigeria (COCMEGG).

This conference is occasioned by the recently issued press statement by a self-acclaimed Coalition of 70 CSOs across Nigeria to pass a Vote of No Confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The Coalition of Civil Societies and Media Executives for Good Governance in Nigeria is an umbrella body of over 350 CSOs, NGOs, human rights activists, Bloggers, Media Executives, who have, over the years, advocated for transparency, accountability and good governance regime in the country, knowing full well that without these templates, there is nowhere democracy can thrive and democracy dividends can percolate to the grassroots in Nigeria. And, that was what precisely informed the decision of the NGOs, CSOs, human rights community to come together to form this umbrella organization.

As champions and propagators of good governance and accountability in Nigeria, having seen and read the said press statement, we have come to the conclusion that it is the handiwork of fifth columnists, rabble-rousers, agent provocateurs, divisive tendencies from enemies of Nigeria and their foreign collaborators aimed at bringing down the present government of at all cost, not minding whose ox is gored. Due to the foregoing, we are compelled to issue and state as follows:

· That the security situation across Sub-Sahara Africa is a fallout of the disintegration of Libyan State with antecedent proliferation of small arms across the sub-region and, as such, Africans and, indeed, well-meaning Nigerians, are abreast of the concerted efforts by the present administration to curtail the excesses of these criminal elements and Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents. It is a known fact that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari inherited a ramshackle military with obsolete equipment, low morale. But today’s Armed Forces can boast of state-of-the-art equipment, armoury and one of the best standing forces in Africa.

· The present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has sacrificed both men and equipment to keep Nigeria safe, secured and united, in spite of all these subterranean forces masquerading as foreign NGOs with local collaborators, aiding, abetting and inciting divisiveness, hate speech and ethnic bias amongst the populace, so as to give the dog a bad name in order to hand it. We want to let Nigerians know that security is on the concurrent list of the Nigerian Constitution, and, as such, everyone’s business and should not be left to the government alone. Therefore, these CSOs that are supposed to be partners in progress with government, have remained passive and aloof to these security challenges and allowing themselves to be used as pawns against the hard-working administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

· In view of the foregoing, we call on all well-meaning Nigerians and the international community, to jettison, disregard these innuendoes, orchestrated by vile elements who have sworn for their self-inordinate ambition and mesh of porridge.

· These co-travellers of CSOs, NGOs and groups masquerading themselves as conscience of the Nation, have been wining and dining with the same present administration since they took over the mantle of leadership in 2015. Now, our findings have revealed that, instead of offering positive and constructive advice, the group prefers rather to go cap-in-hand, soliciting and arm-twisting the present administration to harken to their outrageous demands, failure to which, they now cajole and blackmail the present administration, in order to achieve their selfish agenda.

· We also have it on good authority that these groups have been sponsored to stampede the government of President Buhari, whose only perceived crime is that the government has refused to play along their story line. At this juncture, we still urge the government to remain steadfast, focused, and not be distracted from concentrating on its avowed agenda to safeguard lives and property in Nigeria and the delivery of good democracy dividends to the grassroots.

· We, as well, call on the international community, friends of Nigeria, politicians and well-meaning Nigerians to join hands with government in its endeavor to protect lives and property in Nigeria. We also inform the world that, despite the CSOs’ insinuations, Nigeria is safe for investments as it is a choice destination and an investment haven.

· It will be recalled that the Department of State Services (DSS) has consistently warned Nigerians for the past three months that, there are orchestrated plans and motives by political jobbers, none state actors and boot-lickers who are fanning the embers of disunity and insecurity by increasing and constantly gathering and disseminating fake news to Nigerians through the social media and recycling old videos and clips so as to look as fresh to fan ethnic clashes and banditry. We therefore call on the media and Nigerians, not to be gullible from the antics of these merchants of death, originators of hate speech and sponsors of disunity in Nigeria.

· Agreed, that these pockets of banditry, ethnic clashes occasioned by foreign herders with local collaborators, have been blown out of proportion and fan divisive tendencies across religious and ethnicity in Nigeria. We, however, assure that, no amount of sacrifice is too much for the resolution and rescue of Nigerians in danger. Consequently, we call on the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), to reign-in broadcast stations that have been abridging the Nigerian Broadcasting Code and apply appropriate sanctions where necessary.

· It is commendable that, while most nations are still in economic recession occasioned by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Nigerian government has, through deft economic, prudent management of scarce resources, exited the recession to the applause of the World Bank and other financial world bodies. A case in point, is the support and diplomacy given to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to emerge as the first African Woman to occupy the exalted office of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which has drawn global acclaim to the good works of President Muhammadu Buhari.

· We therefore, after a critical evaluation and analysis of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in all ramifications, now pass a Vote of Confidence on the present administration for being alive to the primary responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the nation; most Nigerians youths are now gainfully employed across the length and breadth through the Agricultural Value Chain; many, especially women, have been empowered through the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) and a whole lot of successful social safety nets and initiatives which have lifted and propelled millions of Nigerians from poverty to prosperity.

· We can also recall that, one of the main policy thrusts of the Buhari administration is the security of lives and property and the safeguarding, protection of the territorial integrity of our nation; as such, due to the yearnings of Nigerians, the President re-jigged the security architecture by appointing new Service Chiefs to carry the baton of decimating the insurgents and safeguarding the nation.

· The big question now is, “Why the impatience from these disgruntled and self-appointed society watch-dogs who do nothing but are always picking holes from government policies and programmes without proffering solutions?”

· It is a well-known fact that corruption under President Muhammadu Buhari has been fought head-on, as we speak; there are various cases of high profile Nigerians languishing in Kuje Prisons, Abuja and across the country for dipping their hands into public till. Indeed, the fear of President Buhari has become the beginning of wisdom and, as such, politicians and administrators in Nigeria have been kept on their toes like never before in the history of this nation. Nigerians can attest to the fact, that this is the first government that has shown sincerity in the fight against corruption in Nigeria. And, for that, disgruntled politicians have gone to the market square to frustrate the anti-corruption agenda and use their ill-gotten funds to make sure that the plans and prosecution of corrupt politicians should not see the light of the day, by spending huge sums to thwart government efforts, using legal rigmarole and jargons to hold us to ransom and later accuse the government of non-performance.

· We therefore call on all well-meaning Nigerians to discountenance, disregard and jettison these wolves crying foul when there is none, as these same set of people have been hobnobbing with this same government for long, only to turn back and accuse them of non-performance. Nigerians should open their eyes and read between the lines that, these are the same people singing the praises only to summersault due to conditions not favourable to them presently. We, as well, call on government to continue the good work in making sure that development continues to percolate to the grassroots. Security is a collective responsibility of all and as long as the President, state governors and the security chiefs are working together assiduously, Nigeria will overcome the security challenges because every nation goes through different phases of challenges in becoming great. We need Nigerians to become one, to be their brother’s keeper so as to surmount our challenges together as one nation.

The Niger Delta Coalition of Justice and Equity (NDCJE), a pro-democracy, pressure group and civil society organization, made up of professionals from different endeavours basically set up for the emancipation of the Niger Delta/South-South people and to accelerate the fight for equity and justice for the region in particular; especially as it concerns government appointments into positions, remunerations and justice for the Niger Delta people as a region that has singularly been responsible for the rich oil and gas deposit, on which Nigeria as a nation, sits on today and parades itself as the giant of Africa.

The NDCJE has, for long, kept aloof, because of the precarious security situation of the country and the divisive tendencies thrown overboard by people in authority, who, look the other way, for their selfish interest, not minding where their actions take the nation to, even if it is in a retrogressive motion.

As partners that believe in the course of Nigeria as a dear nation; as well as believe in putting square pegs in square holes, and uplifting merit than mediocrity in all ramifications, we are hereby compelled to critically and objectively analyze the current letter from the President to the National Assembly, presenting someone for confirmation as Acting Director-General; someone that has not even acted for a day, not to talk about acting in any capacity whatsoever, but has consistently let Nigerians know that he will surely (come rain or shine) ascend the mantle of leadership of NASRDA. Our investigation has revealed that his confidence is based on the presumption that having been connected to the present Chief of Staff to the President as a cousin, he will have a smooth sail, based on these antecedents:

• That Dr Halidu Shaba Ahmad has never ever acted in any capacity before now, not to talk about that of Director-General/Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA); and that he is even number eight in the hierarchy of the nominal roll of the agency since Mr Jonathan Angulu left as the Acting Director-General of the agency. We wish to recall that Mr Angulu handed over the mantle of leadership to the most senior management staff in person of Dr Francis Chizea Dubem, a renowned research fellow with 21 years of service at NASRDA, who has been in charge of the organization till date, and the first Vice Chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, a position bestowed on him based on the recommendation of the African Group Task Force on Space Science and Technology, based in Vienna, Austria.

• That precisely, nine months ago, the South-South Renaissance Group (SSRG) called on the Chief of Staff of the President, Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, to prevail on Dr Halidu Shaba to stop parading himself as the Acting Director-General of the agency; the call which was captured under the headline, “Curtail Dr Halidu Shaba’s Inconsistencies, Bragging Rights at Nigerian Space Agency.” This was informed by the fact that Halidu was unduly parading himself (which action made him to be safely referred to as an imposter) as Acting Director-General, which he is not in any capacity and has never acted as such till date, until his recommendation few hours ago to the National Assembly by the President/Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic.

• That Mr Halidu brags in the corridors of power that he and his cabal/cohorts own the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari; that they decide whatever happens to any position; as well as decide who occupies which position as far as Muhammadu Buhari remains the president. Going by this impunity, our organization vehemently resists this injustice meted out to Dr Chizea Dubem, and any other qualified and legitimate candidate for that matter.

This is based on the fact that all qualified Nigerians have alienable right to aspire to any position of authority as long as they remain Nigerians. In view of the above, therefore, we are asking these vital questions: What has the Niger Delta done to the Nigerian nation to deserve this barbaric treatment? Where did the Niger Delta go wrong, in such a way that it will warrant the dropping of the most senior and adequately qualified Acting Director General from the region, who has all the prerequisite qualifications; and the sending of the name of the number eight position in hierarchy on the nominal roll? How long will it take for Dr Francis Chizea Dubem to be confirmed as the Director-General of the agency?

• It will also be recalled that there was a candid instruction from the President that the National Council in charge of the board of NARSDA must meet to ratify Dr Chizea’s ascension, but that meeting did not hold. Today, the name of one who does not deserve to be recommended, Mr Halildu, has been smuggled through the window/back door and sent to the National Assembly for confirmation. If this is confirmed, it will affirm his bragging rights for the past two years that he would be made Director-General of the agency.

• Luckily, at the agency, since inception, this is the turn of the Niger-Delta/South South to assume the position of authority as the Director-General, having acted for over one year, within which period the agency has grown in leaps and bound, conforming to international best practice and good governance, entrenched in all ramifications. The Acting Director-General still remains Dr Francis Chizea Dubem, who has been acting since Mr Jonathan Angulu left the agency. We pray that due diligence be carried out to ascertain the veracity of this statement to know the fact of the matter. But one would ponder, where has Mr Halidu been all this while, that Dr Chizea Dubem has been sacrificing tooth and nail to keep the agency afloat, especially during this Covid-19 Pandemic? Who is misleading the President to act contrary on the issue he had already directed the National Council to meet to rectify Dr Francis Chizea Dubem? The Acting Director-General is Dr Francis Chizea Dubem and not Halidu. It is a concoction from the pit of hell, which, we suggest, must be verified by the security agencies and right thinking Nigerians. Would somebody tell us what is happening in this country? Again, at what stage, did Halidu rise to become the authentic Acting Director-General, when, indeed, there is a substantive Acting Director-General in person of Dr Francis Chizea Dubem?

• Our coalition has it on good authority that the only reason why Halidu is to be named as Acting Director-General, according to him, is because he is a relation to the Chief of Staff to the President. Due to the foregoing, he continuously brags that whether he merits it or not, he would be confirmed the Director-General of the agency. If this is confirmed, it will be viewed as man’s inhumanity to man; and very unpatriotic action to the collective growth of the Nigerian nation; as against natural justice, equity and good conscience. Consequently, justice must be seen to have been served on this vexed issue, if the present Acting Director-General, Dr Chizea Dubem is confirmed and left to continue, instead of bringing Mr Halidu Shaba from the back door to assume leadership, to reap where he did not sow. It is, indeed, an act of nepotism, inhumanity, and, indeed, a slap on our collective conscience and psyche as a people of the region in particular and Nigeria in general, for accepting mediocrity in place of merit.

• We have watched, with keen interest, the retirement of the Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Muhammadu Gana Abdullahi, where a South-Easterner, Hilary Madu, was made an acting Commandant-General and immediately, a petition came that he was out for ethnic cleansing; and within three weeks, he was dropped and replaced with a North-easterner, while the Inspector-General of Police’s tenure ended but is still there serving, calling shots, because he is from a particular region and ethnic tribe. What a country, indeed!

• It is our candid advice that the President, should, as a matter of national interest, revert to status quo, and set aside the letter sent to the National Assembly and do the right thing, by confirming Dr Chizea, who is far more capable than Mr Halidu.

• The NDCJE appropriately urges Niger Deltans, South-South indigenes, and, indeed, Nigerians to rise up and condemn this injustice in all its form meted out to a fellow Nigerian. However, if there is any doubt about our status as Nigerians, we should be made to understand and President Buhari should do the rightful and make this very important decision by appointing Dr Chizea as the substantive DG of NARSDA. By the way, Dr Chizea is a foundation staff and it is even on record that the office property that NARSDA first used was his father’s personal property. And, apart from being a scientist and researcher of international repute, he is a patriot and when NARSDA was not recognized, he was able to convince his father to let his property to NARSDA for use. If we must ask: is this the price he has to pay for been patriotic? Where is the reward for excellence? Where is the reward for hard work?

• The entire Niger Delta/South-South geopolitical regions, and Nigerians at large, are eager to know the reasons behind this act. It is also our candid advice that constructive investigations should be carried out to ascertain who is the authentic Acting-Director General of NARSDA, before they bring in any one from the backdoor to a position he does not even merit in the first instance; for which he did not work for. An Abuja based human rights lawyer, Leo Ekpenyong,has said he has no hand in any libellous and defamatory publications against Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel, stressing that contrary to that, he holds the governor in high esteem.


Ekpenyong instead slammed those he accused of carrying out what he described as orchestrated campaigns of vicious calumny against his person in an attemptto instigate the state government against him.

Having read for some days now, in some sections of the media, the barrage of yellow journalism as well as orchestrated campaigns of vicious calumny against my person, apparently because of my resolve not to be a part and parcel of their devilish, hypocritical, devious, satanic, pretentious and selfish agendas, with the intention of instigating Akwa Ibom State government against me,I will not join issues with them.

For the records, I have no personal animosity against Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State. Secondly, I have no hand in any libellous and defamatory publications against Governor Udom Emmanuel because he hasn't offended me in any way whatsoever.

As a matter of fact, I hold him in high esteem and may I use this opportunity to commend him for rejigging his cabinet recently with the appointment amongst others of a thoroughbred professional Iman son and learned Silk of repute, barrister Udom(SAN) and by extension adding value and bringing on board a square peg in a square hole. Congratulations, your excellency!

A group based in Abuja, De-Bongos Media Projects, has accused the Justice W.O Akambi led State and National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akwa Ibom of biase in the case brought before it by Senator Godswill Akpabio and Hon. Nse Ntuen

In a statement signed by the Managing Director of the group, Leo Ekpenyong (Esq.), noted that it is a case of Justice for sale in Akwa Ibom, where the highest bidder Carry the day, without any regard for justice and due legal process.

According to the MD, recent events have shown that despite the widespread record of proceedings indicating that Senator Godswill Akpabio, Honourable Minister for Niger Delta Affairs overwhelmingly won the 2019 elections, the tribunal Chairman, Justice W.O. Akanbi who many thought was a righteous judge has may have allegedly received a whooping sum from some highly placed persons and has recruited , another member of the tribunal from Bayelsa to join in the judgment for sale scam.

He alleged that Akanbi has ordered a brand new Toyota Highlander SUV from proceeds of this alleged bribe money all in a bid to deny Senator Akpabio his victory despite glaringly proving his case by the preponderance of unassailable evidence adduced in the tribunal.

The statement which reads in part said, "Akanbi has clearly jettisoned justice in preference for sordid money and greek gift, since according to him he has just two years before retirement.

"Essien Udim State Constituency where Hon. Nse Ntuen conspicuously won the election and was declared elected by Prof Ignatius Iru of University of Uyo, the returning officer appointed by INEC, is another case of Justice Akanbi’s fraudulent propensity.

"In this case, Justice Akanbi deliberately delayed the delivery of judgment, allowing for the exhaustion of the mandatory 180 days to elapse, all in a bid to rob the respondent, Hon. Nse Ntuen of his victory as declared by INEC.

"It will be recalled that INEC via its depositions had implored the tribunal to dismiss the petitioner (Ese Umoh) and the PDP’s case for lacking in merit, but surprisingly Justice Akanbi has maintained that the certificate qualification of the respondent which is clearly a pre-election matter outside the realm of elections petitions already subsisting at the Federal High Court, must be determined first before delivering his judgment, therefore denying Essien Udim Local Government Area representation in the State Assembly.

"This is without doubt a clear case of abuse of judicial process. Justice Akanbi by his action has subjected a pre-election matter to his adjudication to determine the conduct of elections which is not the basis for which the elections tribunal was set-up ab initio and clearly outside to purview of the tribunal.

"Again, Justice Akanbi throughout the duration of the tribunal sitting in Uyo has developed the culture of habitually parking his vehicle in the residence of a former attorney-general of the State and Commissioner for Justice who is a Chieftain of the PDP and whose son is currently serving as a member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

"The filthy lucre, greek gifts of $1.5m each to Justice Akanbi and his cohorts to twist justice and rob Senator Godwill Akpabio, Hon Nse Ntuen of Essien Udim State Constituency and APC petitioners of their victories is ostensibly a validation of Mike Igini’s (Akwa Ibom State, Resident Electoral Commissioner) electoral heist.

"While monitoring the despicable activities of Justice Akanbi in Akwa Ibom State, lawyers are putting finishing touches to file a petition with NJC while activating the instrumentality of the EFCC to swing into action and rid the nation of judicial corruption before it is too late.

"Akanbi’s venal and evil determination is geared towards reducing the votes of President Muhammandu Buhari who won by majority lawful vote in Akwa Ibom State by denying the APC, lawful victory in the State.

"It is therefore disheartening that despite proving lawful votes cast from unit, ward to chapter level by Senator Akpabio, Akanbi J. is bent on using fictitious violence excuses to perpetrate judicial fraud even when the Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government in a widely publicised press release, attested to the peaceful conduct of the election.

"It is even more shocking that Akanbi J. feigns ignorance of the unlawful cancellation of Senator Akpabio’s lawful votes, giving him victory in favour of the respondent and Governor Udom Emmanuel’s PDP to justify the $3m bribe. Unknown to Justice Akanbi, Security operatives who have been monitoring proceedings throughout the duration of the tribunal’s sitting, have records of the State Attorney-General, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko’s Sinister and unholy interactions with the tribunal judges.

"It should be noted however that substantial evidence abound to substantiate these claims of manifest judicial graft perpetrated by Justice Akanbi and his co-travellers to justify the $3m bribe money by Governor Udom Emmanuel and his agents. No degree of covert machinations and financial inducement by PDP in Akwa Ibom State should be allowed to thwart the yearnings and mandate of Akwa Ibom people freely given but hijacked by Mike Igini’s (REC) agent of darkness.

"Akanbi has turned a blind eye to police report corroborating the position of Akwa Ibom state government that the elections were free, fair and credible and about the best since 1960.

"Senator Godswill Akpabio scored 61,329 votes in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District but in a dramatic twist, the collation officer was whisked away to Uyo on the instructions of Mike Igini to enable him falsify the results after over 48 hours of collation of the elections results.

"These fact were testified to by Dr Olasunde Williams, INEC’s collation agent for Essien Udim and was widely reported in all sections of the media as being against the spirit and letters of our electrical laws. These anomalies have been deliberately ignored and jettisoned by Akandi in clear violation of the provisions of the electoral act which provides that elections results must be announced in the local government headquarters of the senatorial district.

"The financial inducement has without doubt beclouded Akandi’s sense of fair judgment. Worthy of note is the fact that Governor Emmanuel’s personal interactions with the Judges have all been captured to show how terribly desperate the Akanbi led-tribunal is working to truncate the mandate of Akwa Ibom people crying for justice.

"Relying on the case of Gunduri V. Nyako whose facts are not applicable to the present case, is tantamount to occasioning grave miscarriage of justice in exchange of filthy lucre and must be resisted to save the soul of the nation’s judiciary and rekindled the hope of the electorates who defied all odds of electoral impediments orchestrated by Igini led – INEC, to cast their votes. This is a task that must be done.
