But the security [personnel] are on ground now,” he said. Another source said that the station has gone off the air. If it is true that the president-elect was involved in drug-related activities anywhere in the world. If the identity theft is true. If the certificate forgery is true. If the case of perjury is true. And if he is successfully inaugurated come May 29th, 2023. All Nigerians would become criminals by association. Nigerians may face more severe scrutiny entering any other country because we did not just accept a known drug personality as a presidential candidate. Rather, we accepted and voted him for the hallowed position of the president of the country. The number one citizen of Nigeria whose content of character is assumed by reason of position as a model for all citizens of Nigeria. If the President-elect is Innocent of each and every accusation as so far alleged including but not limited to the wilful acquisition of Guinean citizenship, it will be proper to personally prosecute and punish all his accusers. However, if part or all that has been alleged against the President-elect is true, it will be the height of extreme corruption for the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the Federation to allow the inauguration to hold. This might entail a willful establishment and institutionalization of criminality and corruption. If it happens, Nigeria might be regarded as the corruption and criminality headquarters of the world. To this end, you and I, and indeed every Nigerian will be regarded as a criminal by association having cherished such a character to the point of voting him in as the number 1 citizen of the country. It shows that we don't hold anything against illegal drug dealings. Making every Nigerian a suspect internationally. God forbid. We pray the Tribunal and the courts diligently handle the cases before them to save our faces both as citizens and as a country. God Bless Nigeria Michael Gabriel uganfct@gmail.com |

The root cause of maladministration in Nigeria is a complex issue that cannot be attributed to a single factor. However, some key factors that have contributed to the maladministration in Nigeria include: Corruption: Corruption is a major problem in Nigeria and has been identified as one of the major reasons for maladministration. Corruption has permeated all levels of government, and it has become a way of life in the country. Many government officials and politicians use their positions to enrich themselves, and this has led to the mismanagement of public resources and the neglect of the people. Weak institutional framework: The institutional framework in Nigeria is weak, and this has contributed to the maladministration in the country. The judiciary is not independent, and there is a lack of transparency and accountability in the government. This has led to a situation where government officials are not held accountable for their actions, and this has contributed to the culture of impunity in the country. Lack of political will: Another factor that has contributed to maladministration in Nigeria is the lack of political will to address the problem. Many politicians are more interested in their personal interests rather than the interests of the people, and this has led to the neglect of public services and infrastructure. Ethnic and religious divisions: Nigeria is a country that is divided along ethnic and religious lines, and this has contributed to the maladministration in the country. Politicians have used these divisions to their advantage, and this has led to the marginalization of certain groups and the neglect of their needs. In summary, the root cause of maladministration in Nigeria is a combination of factors that include corruption, weak institutional frameworks, lack of political will, and ethnic and religious divisions. Addressing these factors will require a concerted effort by the government, civil society, and the people of Nigeria. |
It seems a rocket science to achieve such feat going by the disposition of the politicians that only interest is to remain power for the sake of their selfish desires. God please help Nigeria and Nigerians to wake up and resist these dishonest personalities. |

If not that you conducted yourself while you held public offices in Nigeria, they would have made a meal piece out of you. You are indeed a light towards our match to a New Nigeria. vanguardngr.comApr 19, 2023 4:03 AM THE presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the February 25 election, Mr Peter Obi has said that he is not afraid of what he called lies and propaganda against him, describing them as part of the journey to a new Nigeria. “I have always lived my life in the most law-abiding manner possible. Sometimes, as humans, we make mistakes, but I will never knowingly break any law. “I am, therefore, not afraid of the lies and propaganda against my person, which are part of the journey to a New Nigeria,” Obi said at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the Labour Party in Asaba, Delta State on Tuesday. According to him, there may be more mud slinging on him from those who are against the emergence of the New Nigeria, adding, however, that he would never be deterred by the obstacles along the way to victory. He urged Nigerians to remain calm and steadfast in their journey of reclaiming their mandate of a New Nigeria, assuring that he would never give up on the journey until victory is achieved. Obi explained that he never expected the journey to New Nigeria to be an easy one, adding that the forces which had, over the years, lived off the old order, were bound to fight back, as is being experienced currently. He said: “if they come at us through land, air and sea, we will respond to them through land, air and sea, but we will remain law abiding and will never give up on the nation. “We are on the right path, and we will remain committed to the course. |

Why is Federal Government, Security Agencies and the Media mute on the killings in Southern Kaduna and Benue? We have not heard or seen practically any serious move to arrest the perpetrators and to stem the tide of murdering our nationals and Nigerians in these states. We call on the presidency to rise above sentiments and arrest this ugly trend. |
The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, won the 25 February presidential election in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, South-south Nigeria, according to results uploaded on the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV). Mr Obi’s haul of votes in the area implies he, and not Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the presidential election in Rivers, contrary to the declaration made by INEC. The result for Obio/Akpor council area, as declared by INEC, portrayed Mr Tinubu as scoring 80, 239 votes, with Mr Obi garnering 3,829 votes. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 368 votes while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party got 161 votes, this newspaper had reported. Mr Tinubu was later declared winner of the election. Atiku came second while Mr Obi came third. But PREMIUM TIMES’ review of the results from various polling units of the 17 wards in Obio/Akpor LGA as uploaded on IReV revealed a sharp contrast with the result declared by INEC. However, winning Rivers does not mean Mr Obi would have won the presidential election. He still would have falling far short of winning the highest number of votes nationally and scoring 25 percent of votes in at least 24 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, as stipulated by the Nigerian constitution. Methodology Given that Mr Tinubu was declared winner in Obio/Akpor, this newspaper’s review focused on the results of the votes scored by the APC and LP in the area. By our tally, the APC got 17, 158 votes while the LP amassed 73,311 votes. Obio/Akpor Local Government Area has 1,211 polling units across its 17 wards. PREMIUM TIMES could only review results from 1,116 polling units uploaded on the IReV as of 16 March, representing about 94.13 percent of the results from the council area. However, results from some polling units were either blurred or improperly snapped and therefore illegible. Results from about 95 polling units, representing about 5.87 per cent, were yet to be uploaded within the period under review. There were no results in some polling units either because the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System malfunctioned or people did not come out to cast their votes, as observed at Ake Hostel UNIPORT Polling Unit in Choba Ward. This newspaper computed the available and readable results from the 1,116 polling units uploaded so far on the IReV within the period of the review. Other findings In some polling units in Obio/Akpor, PREMIUM TIMES found that some results were altered in favour of the APC, with the original scores mutilated. The result from Rumuorluoji Open Space II polling unit in Oro-Igwe Ward, for instance, showed that the APC originally scored 17 but the number, ‘2’ was added to the figure to read ‘217.’ For the LP, 227 was recorded, but the number ‘2’ was erased and altered to read ‘027.’ At the column meant for recording the scores in words, there were evidence of adjustments to suit the changed figures. In Rumuokoro Ward, it was noticed that in 34 polling units, results earlier written for the LP were erased and the figures swapped with that of the APC. PREMIUM TIMES, nevertheless, tallied the figures as published by INEC, despite the obvious evidence of adjustments and mutilations. In other words, the figures were tallied as they appeared on result sheets, even when there was evidence that such figures were tampered with. Source: Premium Times |
On behalf of the Nigeria Diplomatic Minds Association which yearns for good governance, and a sterling image of Nigeria amongst the comity of nations, I make the following speech and projections for our discourse and guidance towards having a better, healthy, well-perceived, and legal active country. Nigerians, especially the youths had never participated in any national election recently like they did on the 25th of February, 2023 owing to the INEC promises, backed with the innovation with BVAS that should have impacted positively the Polling Units accreditations, result collations, and transmission, which would have ended in IReV timely display of results from our Polling Units. We commend INEC for their honest intention with BVAS and for speaking the language of the new generation, by bringing technology and ICT to bear in our electioneering processes. Nigerians acknowledged, and appreciated the opportunities presented by BVAS to them as an enthronement to be king-makers to decide who becomes what in our polity. Trotted and brandished their PVCs as their weapons: they would use them either to retire or enthrone. As feedback, either to commend or to fire elected public office-holders based on previous performance. As employment tools, either to hire or not, based on true commitment to serving, qualification, competence, and content of character. Unfortunately, our aspirations to be the real-king makers in our polity were dashed by the same Electoral Umpire with reasons and flaws that seem that INEC officials were either participatory, transactional, or duress-induced to have churned out results that in most cases never represented the choices of most Nigerians. In the face of obvious breaches of the Electoral laws, INEC hurriedly announced a winner as if they were on a mission to achieve a particular end. Nigerians watched with bewilderment at the announcement that we have chosen a personality who we hardly know his history and who did not avail himself to be interrogated and interviewed by Nigerians. A personality with the baggage of drug dealings at least in the past to be our next president. Hence, the announcement was followed with graveyard silence, no jubilations recorded except only among a few perpetrators and their recruits. They actually knew that Nigerians were not fooled. And to avoid nationwide protests they quickly told the opposition to go to court. Which is the normal thing expected from any aggrieved contender. The opposition in a patriotic gesture calmed their voters, obeyed, and went to court. Kudos to them. Surprisingly, the announced winner complained that the oppositions want to truncate his installation as president come 29th May 2023. Submissions: The personality INEC announced as the President-Elect if given legal backing will obviously truncate the progress recorded so far in our electoral processes because he is not a staunch believer in a transparent democracy, and in the innovation birthed by INEC through BVAS which he did not hide when he was hosted in the Chatham House. So, the Nigeria of our dream will never be birthed in this light. Secondly, his history is shrouded in secrecy. Anyone who wants to lead a country should have a clear record of the history of himself, and his family, and reference to such existence. The seat of the President of the federal republic of Nigeria is not a position anyone who has no identity should occupy. Neither should anyone with unexplainable wealth occupy such an esteemed position. Hence, this personality avoided unscripted interviews like snake poisons obviously because of his secrets he may still want to be secret, and perhaps for fear of contradictions. It is a norm that anyone seeking a public position like the seat of the president will be in the public eyes and invariably has thrown himself/herself out for public scrutiny, investigations, and interrogations. Also, he/she is expected to attend interviews because Nigerians have the right to interview whoever, we want to hire as our president. One of the reasons for such interviews is that we can be able to make references to his speeches after we may have hired him. Nobody can quote silence. Even party manifestoes have been seen denied by a president because he is not the real architect of the manifestoes. So, Nigerians needed to have heard from each of the candidates themselves not a team. If such a mischievous adventure is given legal backing Nigerians have lost the right to hold such a personality accountable and he can cleverly deny responsibility. After all, no one can quote silence. Lastly, he might not be qualified going by our laws. His previous dealings on drugs and its resultant conviction in the US and uncleared questions on certificate forgery have weakened/invalidated his candidature naturally. Our laws ban ex-convicts from criminal charges from occupying elective positions. In the spirit of the law, it is never intended for a flawed personality to lead the country; this is to avoid perpetuating or giving credence to criminality. If his announcement is given legal backing through the courts, it might give legality to drug dealings in Nigeria. And by extension render questionable the good works of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). And the perception of the country among the comity of nations would be disastrous. We implore all well-meaning Nigerians and institutions of government to frown on encouraging personalities with the baggage of doubts from elective positions because their moral compass may not be trusted to toe lawful, civil, and sane paths in the engagements of their offices. We plead and pray for the courts to live up to expectations of our laws and the patriotic intentions of our constitution in showing themselves honorably in handling the election petitions. We know it may not be easy for the judges, justices, and Lords, perhaps, there might be, sentiments to fight off, intimidations, and inducements gestures but our consolation is in their quality, honesty, and sacrifice to bequeath the country judgments like light no darkness can quench owing simply to its veracity and truth. As history beckons, the youths are hopeful, the diasporas are optimistic and the future generation is waiting to be honored with a country of law and order where laws supersede personalities. The world is watching as history is about to be made. Nigeria Diplomatic Minds Association (NIDMAS) nidmas@gmail.com, https://web.facebook.com/PatrioticNationals |

“What shocked me was that the ordinary citizen, who was usually underrated, made the point of his political understanding of things.” President Muhammadu Buhari says he was shocked by the resoluteness of voters in the February 25 and March 18 elections whom he described as “ordinary” and “usually underrated” citizens. Considered the third force in the elections, the Labour Party and its adjunctive Obidient Movement have been the most vociferous and expressly determined to change the course of Nigeria’s political pathways, resulting in several surprise electoral outcomes. Many Nigerian youths are the oxygen of the movement who are vehemently against the political establishment. “It is a testament to the maturity of our democracy and to the amazing sophistication of the voter. What shocked me was that the ordinary citizen who was usually underrated made the point of his political understanding of things,” the Nigerian president explained. He further stated, “Assumption is always that you are governor for eight years and you go to the Senate to crown the career. No one should underrate the Nigerian voter anymore. Politics will be more difficult, henceforth.” According to Mr Buhari, the 2023 elections proved the growing strength of Nigeria’s democracy and the sophistication of the Nigerian voter when it comes to the choice of leaders. His media aide, Garba Shehu, stated in Abuja on Thursday that the president made the remark when he hosted the newly-installed Emir of Dutse, Muhammad Sunusi, who visited him. Mr Buhari noted that failure by 10 sitting governors to get elected into the Senate showed that there was no longer a guaranteed route to power and the voter is truly the king when it comes to choices. After listening to the emir who listed projects executed in Jigawa by the Buhari administration and requested for more, the president promised to do his best for the state |

Today, as a result of that election, the Chief Judge of this State, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Nigeria, has invested me with the office. This is an inestimable honour of which I am very conscious. It is a call to service that I take very seriously in all humility. And I want to assure you that I shall spare no effort to justify the confidence which you, the good people of Lagos State, have demonstrably reposed in me. *God moves in a mysterious way, says William Cowper, His wonders to perform. His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding every hour.* The creation of Lagos State, like all great events, is not the achievement of one single person. The territory now known as Lagos State is the former Colony Province created by the British Administration for their own administrative convenience. Following the cession of his sovereignty to the British Crown by King Dosunmu in 1861, Eko was administered independently by a Governor of the Settlement of Lagos. Under the Commission of 19th February-1866, the Settlement of Lagos was governed by an Administrator and a Legislative Council responsible to the Governor of the West African Settlements residing in Sierra Leone. This continued until 1874. By Letters Patent dated 24th July, 1874 the territory was administered by a Lieutenant Governor subject to the Governor of the Gold Coast Colony. *Nine years later, by Letters Patent of 22nd January 1883, Lagos was administered by a Deputy Governor responsible to the Governor of the Gold coast Colony.* In 1886, Lagos was again set up as a separate colony in response to a petition by the people of Lagos who resented being governed from the Gold Coast. It was administered by a Governor of the Colony of Lagos under Letters Patent dated 13th January, 1886. This was the first time that the territory now known as Lagos State came under one administration. The administration continued under various constitution until 1954, when Lagos was separated from the rest of the Colony and constituted Federal Territory, that is to say a No-Man’s Land. *Thus, it is evident that, for 89 years from 1862 to 1951, Lagos (with or without the rest of the Colony) enjoyed a separate and distinct existence as a unit of administration with its own Governor, Deputy Governor, Lieutenant-governor, Administrator or Commissioner as the case may be. For 68 years from 1886 to 1954, the Colony of Lagos (i.e. the present Lagos State) was administered together as a unit, an inseperable whole. From 1914 to 1923 the Colony of Lagos had its own Legislative Council while the rest of Nigeria had another Council* Thus the foundation for a Lagos State had been well and truly laid by history. But, in the circumstances of our dear country, it still had to be fought for. And two of the earliest fighters for a Lagos State must be remembered with gratitude on this occasion. They are Chief Theophilus Adebayo Doherty and Prince Ibikunle Akintoye. They dreamt of a Lagos and Colony State. It was left to a later generation to make their dream a reality. *In 1964, while I was serving a seven-year sentence for treasonable felony and conspiracy in the Maximum Security Prison at Kirikiri, Apapa, I came to the conclusion that the time had come to put forward a reasoned case for the creation of a Lagos State. With the assistance of my friends outside the prison walls, and deliberately breaking prison regulations, this conclusion resulted in a booklet published in 1966 with the meaningful title of “The case for a Lagos State”* In the preface to the book I said inter alia: “It seems now to be generally agreed that if Nigeria is to survive as one organic whole one of the conditions precedent to such survival is the creation of new states. I have endeavoured to argue the case for a Lagos State in the following pages as objectively as possible and without emotion. One is bound to recognise that this case rests almost entirely on historical circumstances and moral principles. But this does not detract from its validity. A series of historical circumstances have culminated in neglect and injustice such as can only be effectively removed, in a Nigerian Federation, by the creation of a Lagos State”. *In August 1966, the then Administrator of Lagos, Major Mobolaji Johnson, summoned a Conference of Young Indigenous Lagosians to deliberate on the place of Lagos in a future constitutional arrangement.* This book formed the basis of a memorandum submitted to the conference. The conference, among other things, decided that a Lagos State comprising the Federal Territory and the Colony Province of Western Nigeria should be created in a Nigerian Federation. On September 12, 1966, the then Head of the Federal Military Government and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Yakubu Gowon, established an Adhoc conference on Nigeria’s future. The Lagos Delegation was led by Doctor Taslim Elias until he became Attorney General of the Federation when the mantle of leadership of the delegation fell on me. But it was under Doctor Elias’s leadership that the Lagos delegation submitted to the Adhoc Conference a memorandum for the creation of Lagos State. That memorandum was substantially a reproduction of “The Case for A Lagos State”. And it was that memorandum, no doubt, which enabled the Federal Military Government to reach the decision to create a Lagos State in 1967. *I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson for his invaluable contribution to the creation of this State.* Throughout the period of the 1966 Adhoc conference he was unwavering in his conviction and unsparing in his endeavours for the creation of a Lagos State. It was his lot to become the first Military Governor of the State. And he made a good job of it, all things considered. May I also thank the last of the Military Administrators, Captain Ebitu Ukiwe, for the voluminous handing-over notes he has given me and in particular for his physical presence this afternoon. It is a kind gesture which I greatly appreciate. *It is now our historic duty to take off from where the military left. In doing so; I have no illusion whatsoever. When on Saturday November 4, 1978, I was nominated by my party, the Unity Party of Nigeria, to contest the gubernatorial election for this State, I said inter alia in my acceptance speech: “I am conscious of the problems and the opportunities that abound in Lagos State. I know that the citizens of Lagos State are the most sophisticated in the country. I know that every tribe and every ethnic group, in Nigeria are represented in Lagos State. I know that for most Nigerians Lagos is the El Dorado, with matchless opportunities for prosperity.* I know that the indigenes of Lagos State have a natural right to the services provided by their state. I know that the non- indigenes of Lagos State have an indisputable right to the services provided by their State of residence. I know that Lagos State is said to be the most developed part of the Federation. But I also know that below the majestic flyovers, the mystifying ring roads, and the spiralling skyscrapers there is abject poverty in this State. And I know that there are in Lagos State some of the worst living conditions that can be found in any part of the Federation. I am sure that it will surprise many Nigerians in other states to be told that Lagos State is as much in need of development as any other State. Perhaps our need is greater. Because of the pressure of population, which is the highest in the country, the demand for services is extremely severe. Besides, Lagos State is Nigeria’s shop window. These, problems are enormous. But the consolation is that the opportunities for solving them are there. And they are exciting and challenging”. I can only underline that statement on this occasion of assuming office as Governor of Lagos State. We shall model our government after the Government of the Western Region of Nigeria, from 1952 to 1959, headed by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. That Government was the most efficient, the most dynamic, and the most responsive of all the governments of the Federation. That Government was the country’s pace-setter — the first to do all good things that others later copied. There has never been a government like it in Africa before or since. And we know that in giving us their massive vote, the good people of Lagos State were influenced by their memories of the good old days of the Awolowo Government. We shall live up to their high expectations, especially as Chief Awolowo is still very much around and will continue to be our source of inspiration for many years to come. In this connection, I am glad to affirm that free education at all levels, of which he is the greatest advocate in Nigeria, will become operative in Lagos State with immediate effect from today. On September 15, 1979, I issued an appeal to all school headmasters and all principals in this State not to demand or accept fees from school children in primary and secondary schools. I am grateful to all those who heeded this appeal, although it had no force of law. Now that I have been sworn in as Governor of Lagos State, I direct that education shall be free at all levels in this State. For the avoidance of doubt, no fees should be collected from any pupil or student for anything whatsoever. Where fees have been collected immediate steps should be taken to refund them to their payers. In all Boarding Schools Parents/Teachers Association shall take over the management of boarding facilities, and they will be given all possible assistance by the education authorities until boarding is completely phased out. Arrangement have been made to enact the necessary legislations for this purpose. The Unity Party of Nigeria is irrevocably committed to change things and to bring about a new order. We have come to serve the common people of this State. We have clear-cut programmes for which we have received your mandate. I want to assure you that we shall do everything that is humanly possible, under God’s unfailing guidance and protection, to execute these prorammes and honour the solemn pledges we made to the electorate. In implementing these programmes we shall be scrupulously fair and just to every citizen, be he high or low; we shall seek at all times and on all occasions the greatest good of the greatest number. We shall be guided by the timeless principle that the will of the people is the supreme law. There will be no discrimination against anyone on the ground of political affiliation, religious belief, ethnic or state origin, sex or social status. But we can do all of these things only if all sections of the community cooperate fully with the Government they have elected. We need the absolute loyalty and cooperation of the public service. We are going to move much faster than perhaps the public service is used to. We are bringing to the Service a new sense of direction. At the same time we shall ensure that every public servant in this state is adequately rewarded for his labour. Merit will be recognised regardless of language, colour or creed. We need the support and cooperation of all ratepayers and all tax- payers in this State. We are prepared to serve. But service can be provided only to the extent that the finances of the State permit. I believe that this state is quite capable of generating the necessary funds to make life better for all citizens. I, therefore, call on all adult citizens to make their own contribution to the common good by paying their rates and taxes as they fall due. We need the support of the law enforcement agencies. We are aware of their deplorable conditions of operation. And we shall, within the limits of our constitutional powers, help to improve those conditions. For it is only in an atmosphere of peace that progress and development can take place. We need the co-operation of the judiciary. I am a firm believer in the independence of the judiciary, and I am happy that independence has been enshrined in our constitution. We shall do everything possible, within the limits of our constitutional powers, to remove any obstacle in the way of speedy and efficient administration of justice in this State. *We need the vigilance and patience of all citizens. The problems which we have inherited from the military — extremely bad roads, poor drainage, inadequate water supply, deplorable housing, neglected agriculture and the lack of markets for example will not disappear in one day. But they certainly will disappear during our tenure of office by the grace of God. We shall start solving these problems from today and from now to the end of our term we shall do nothing else.* I ask you to pray constantly for us. More things are wrought by prayers than this world dreams of. We are embarking on a war against poverty, against community neglect, against reaction, against disease in Lagos State. And, by the grace of God Who loves us, we shall win. THANK YOU! *COPIED* _________________ *@Prince media group Brisbane Australia* |

2023: Let The Youths Vote For Labour Party, It’s Their Right – Atiku https://akelicious.net/2023/02/22/2023-let-the-youths-vote-for-labour-party-its-their-right-atiku |
We await a New Nigeria |
What didn't work in 2015- Muslim-Muslim Ticket will not work in 2023 because it is against Nigeria's DNA (APC will fail woefully) Atiku and Kwakwanso fought against PDP in 2015 for not rotating power from South to North because it was against Nigeria's DNA and they succeeded. Unfortunately, they are now in the other side of the coin fighting to keep power after 8 years of Buhari in the North. They will fail hopelessly because it is against Nigeria's DNA. Among the 18 Presidential candidates, Labour party is leading the pack of the parties that represents the right Nigeria's DNA, and the good news is Labour party has the best candidates (Obi-Datti) amongst the leading parties. Therefore, Obi-Datti ticket is winning the 2023 presidential election. |
