Indeed quality and good products are expensive to have. It follows in human and character grading. What makes a product qualitative and seemly good is the discipline employed in its formation to meet the highest standard in the market at any point in time. So it follows with human characterisation and leadership. In Nigerian political landscape today among the few with the highest quality of leadership that is characterised by discipline are Prof. Yemi Osibanjo and Mr. Peter Obi. No wonder senator Abubakar Girei, APC Convention Managment Committee described Prof. Yemi Osibanjo as the real winner of the APC Presidential primary because he didn't go the cheap path of vote buying and still recorded a good number of votes. Mr. Peter Obi has shown discipline, a rare trait in handling public funds unlike most politicians today in Nigeria. Why are these two men expensive to afford as President? Truly it will cost those who have considered themselves godfathers and kingmakers too much if any of these men becomes the president of Nigeria. Are you surprised? Yes, they will cease having uncontrolled access to our commonwealth, and that means they have to work to earn. It will cut down their huge appetite on luxurious goods at the expense of the nation. They may be made to account for their stewardship to the country. It is indeed expensive for the so called ruling class to afford any of the above mentioned men as president. But to the ordinary Nigerians, it is very cheap to have either of the two men as president of Nigeria. Such presidency will focus on ordinary Nigerians in their programs and plans. Nigerians will be better off. Schools will not be shut. Hospitals will work. Amenities will be assured. Living will become easier for ordinary Nigerians as the commonwealth will be utilized for all. The so called ruling class would not want to see the majority of Nigerians live a happier and easier lives. They prefer using a cheaper path to impose a cheap choice as a president on the country. What are their cheaper paths? humans have natural tendencies like greed, emotion attached to his/her origin, religious inclination etc. Any successful man/woman must have freed himself/herself from allowing these natural tendencies to becloud his/her power of reasoning. These tendencies are what the so called godfathers, kingmakers or the ruling class have been using to hold us bounded to their whims and caprices over the years. This is why you hear about tribe, religion and vote buying which are all used to massage these our natural tendencies to make us to do what they want. After the elections, we wouldn't see them or hear them again talk about religion, tribe, and they wouldn't come to give you money again until the next election. It is cheaper path for them but for the ordinary Nigerians, it is an expensive path to follow. If I have taken money from a politician to vote for him; have all my relations, family and friends also given theirs? If no, the money I collected will it be able to solve my problems, that of my relations and solve the problems of my friends? If no, will the politician continue to give me the money every week, month or year? If still no, then it is very expensive for us to do what they want us to do for them to win. God has given us brains and consciences to use, and to help ourselves by doing and choosing the best for our country in our decisions. The Ordinary President, Ahmed Isah of Brekete Family once asked his audience. If comes a situation you want to enter a car to travel, and someone comes to you and ask you your tribe because there are three drivers going to your destination: the first is an Hausa man, the second is Yoruba man and the third is an Igbo man. But he also tell you the best driver among the three divers. The question is would you still want to enter with the driver from your tribe if he is not the best driver? If no, it is worthy to note that elections and who becomes the president of Nigeria is much more a serious decision to make. So, choose the right candidate without any consideration of religion or tribe. Looking at our presidential hopefuls. Who among them has the best of character to lead and salvage our country. Without good character leadership becomes faulty. And we have been seeing this over the years. If need be, it is time to go against what our pastors or imams may tell us as regards who to vote. Insist on voting the best candidate. Voting someone we can trust with our funds and lives for the next 4 years. Someone who has the capacity like a good driver to drive the economy of our country for our common good. Michael C. Odor |

Let's not raise dust here unnecessarily, Osibanjo as a person is a good candidate as well as some other candidates in the race. So if some of his church members choose to go berserk in their support or advocacy for his candidature that should not diminish him as a person or his candidature for any reason. Have you forgotten all manners of berserk support Buhari candidacy attracted in 2015 in the north? The candidate in question may not have control over the speeches and actions of their overexcited supporters but we have to learn how to judge people based on the content of their characters not on religion, tribe or color. There is no need for this apprehensiveness about RCCG position. May God see Nigerians through as we commit ourselves to register and vote in the upcoming elections. |
Fuckyoumod:Dear, you may need to know that Vice Presidents hardly achieve anything in the Nigerian context because the constitution has fashioned it so. They only depend on their Principal's delegated responsibility to prove their worth. And I think Osibanjo going by the records never disappointed Nigerians. Mind you, even delegated responsibilities sometimes may have limits you will not cross and areas you may not touch. Hope, you now understand. |
He is young, endowed with entrepreneurial skills. The Founder Solomon's Ideas Housing and Multipurpose Cooperative Society. He also has a group of schools in His name. He has granted several scholarships to the Imo State students before trying to pay more attention to his locality Mbaitoli LGA. Hence, he reached out to every 12 wards in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo state recently and granted 66 scholarships for the best students that applied for the scholarship last time it was conducted. He is Hon. Solomon Chimezie Amaezechi from Ofekata, Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA. This young man has equally solely organized empowerment training for Mbaitoli Women that ran for several weeks. He is not resting in attracting development to his LGA, Mbaitoli as he went further to sponsor the Mbaitoli Women to form Mbaitoli Women Development Initiative (MWDI) through which he has linked them to a women group in United State for possible training and empowerment programs. He is the kind of leader the people are looking out for, one who understands what true leadership means. He is truly leading quietly without any noise to complement what the state government is doing. I am elated that another round of scholarships is about to be launched as scholarship forms are been circulated and made available in all the 12 wards in Mbaitoli LGA. Let's encourage our young ones to take advantage of it and study well to get prepared for the marathon scholarship examinations. More blessings and wisdom to the man that is cooking these goodies for our development. Michael C. Odor Coordinator Imo State Youth Movement For Good Governance (IMSYMOGG)

It is unfortunate that Nigerians have elected unqualified persons to sensitive positions without having a good knowledge of who they really are. The Nigerian youths are tired of politicians who may be popular on the political scene for a long time working only to clinch the seat of power without being well known by the Nigerian citizens. Such popularity did not translate beyond politics; and as such is not a good basis to judge the suitability of their personalities to determine if they have the right qualities needed for the sensitive positions they are seeking to occupy. The youths now consider it a serious step for every contestant to publish their full profile at least six (6) months to the election to enable Nigerians to know them and to decide who is best for the country. From Federal to the States; we, the Imo State Youths Movement for Good Governance (IMSYMOGG) have noticed that the lack of information on the contestants has kept the states and Nigeria in the dungeon. Having the full profile of each contestant for both presidential and gubernatorial seats will enable the citizens to make an informed decision and help to promote the system in getting the right candidates voted into power. For example, the 2021 Anambra Gubernatorial election is a good case where all the major candidates have their full profile displayed early enough before the election which allowed citizens to check up the information on each candidate before they made their choice. This is one of the reasons Nigerians have been electing unqualified and unserious persons to sensitive positions of Governance; only serious in their quest to capture power without knowing how to apply it for the development of the nation and its citizens afterward. They enjoy hiding under the façade of their political popularity without letting Nigerians know who they truly are and our press is complicit in this deception. The politicians (contestants) and the Press owe the country the duty to put up all the information as regards each contestant to enable Nigerians to make an informed decision during electioneering. Nigerians need to know the work history of each candidate, their families, their academic qualifications, specializations/profession, their crime records if any (both criminal and civil), their social activities, positions held in the past, their achievements, their hobbies, their past sensitive speech or quotes, their beliefs, their past political associations, their manifestoes et cetera. We, the Nigerian youths encourage the contestants to be honorable in their quest to win elections and desist from enticing the youths to do their unholy biddings. Rather, they should be supportive to the youths in their quest to eke out a living for themselves and their families. We call on Nigerian Youths to know that we owe the country the duty to save it by availing ourselves for political positions and ensuring that the will of the citizens prevail in our polling units. We should also hold politicians accountable after elections to demand that they deliver on their electoral manifestoes. Odor Michael C. You may not have given adequate thought to citizenship in the Nigerian context. Let's x-ray who a citizen should be and whether Nigeria as a country has produced any. A citizen is a person who, by place of birth, nationality of one or both parents, or naturalization is granted full rights and responsibilities as a member of a nation or political community (definition from https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/citizen) . Citizenship from the foregoing is built only on full rights. That is to say, you are only a citizen when you have enjoyed or have access to the full rights ascribed to citizens in the constitution of the country. List of Fundamental Human Rights: The fundamental human rights contained in the constitution of Nigeria are the Right to Life, the Right to Dignity of Human Person, the Right to Personal Liberty, the Right to Fair Hearing, the Right to Private and Family Life, the Right to Freedom of Thought, Conscience and Religion, the Right to Freedom of Expression and the Press, the Rights to Peaceful Assembly and Association, the Right to Freedom of Movement, the Right to Freedom from Discrimination and then, the Right to Acquire and Own Immovable Property anywhere in Nigeria. These rights should never be violated by any person, including law enforcement agencies or agents in any part of Nigeria. Consequently, where there is a violation or even a mere attempted violation of a fundamental human right, the victim and any other person on behalf of the victim, can seek justice against the violator. Where there is a violation of any fundamental human rights or a threat to such rights, the court to approach is a State High Court or the Federal High Court. It is easy and fast to get a judgment in such cases because they are urgently treated. Just engage the services of a good lawyer. So, can anyone say with all sincerity he/she is a bonafide citizen of Nigeria that has enjoyed these rights? If No, then the country has not produced citizens that should grow to patriots. |
My question is; 1) why not just enjoy your life even if it means doing bad things to enjoy life? If you can't enjoy life, why not kill yourself and rest to avoid the sufferings? 2) Even if there is life after death, what if there is no suffering cos God may decide to give everyone peace after death. 3) Those that didn't hear anything about God, what is their fate? 4) which of the scriptures is to be trusted? The answers to the above questions are in gaining more knowledge about the Scriptures. And obviously is what you are seeking here but unfortunately, this platform may not be the best place for the right knowledge you seek. Don't forsake the gathering of brethren, Seek your answers there. But most importantly, read your Scriptures daily and meditatively while asking the Holy Spirit for direction within one week you will have your answers with conviction. Trust me, many here may misled you, and Spiritual matters are not academics, reality or logic. May the Lord lead you in His truth bro |
Nigeria is a poor country because our acclaimed leaders past and present are poor in their thinking and actions. |

WHICH WAY NIGERIA? It was announced by a few concerned Nigerians to the previous and present government "that going by the rate of unemployment in the country, Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder". But the message was ignored. Now, we are faced with an explosive situation. Which way Nigeria? |
Go for Radiography it is not flooded like Pharmacy and opportunities are there for them. For instance, if there be an invitation for jobs for medical graduates of all medical lines. Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists will definitely apply in their large number but Radiographer will be in the least of those applications. I hope you make the best choice. |
It is unfortunate that institutions that are meant to protect, correct and secure persons are not living up to its mandate. Surely, It is good to be free and independent of any other person or institution but God. |
OUR MISPLACED PRIORITY OUR LEADERSHIP PROBLEM. It is funny and inarticulate decision to have stopped WAEC examination that has a little above 1 million candidates nationwide to be spread in various centres and that can integrate social distancing effectively while Nigeria is still going on with Edo and Ondo Governorship elections with over 2 million voters concentrated only in two states. |
TRUMPET OF COVID 19 It is to our good to see Covid 19 as a trumpet sounded to get us ready in this end time. God in his mercy has warned us in this trumpet- like manner of the danger of living a life without Him. A life that is saying there is no God. Though, we may belong to the majority that acknowledged there is God but our lives show otherwise. We all now depend on logic, what we can see, on the arms of flesh, on men, etc to function as human beings. The Trumpet of Corona Virus has sent multitude into their houses, it has cut the quest for both the lust of the flesh and of the eyes. It has disciplined us and our ears are now more active to hear the latest news. Do you know what ? It is pointing us to the real news, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to embrace God's Love made available to everyone on this earth; for Christians, Muslims, Hinduists, Buddhists, Traditional worshippers, Atheists and all the races. The news is telling us not to look at denominations, tribe, language, nations etc that divide us but we should look always on Jesus Christ Our Saviour who unites us in Himself. The news says repent and follow Christ, love your neighbours. It says serve God by serving others. It says don't fear those who can kill the flesh only but fear Him who can kill the flesh and destroy the soul in Hell. It says feed your Spirit with the reading of the Scripture more than the way you feed your flesh so as to be alive in the spirit. It says pray without season and only put your trust in God. May God open our ears to hear this Trumpet Call and His Good News Amen |
YAHOO OF GOVERNANCE It is instructive to note that Yahoo men (few politicians) in government brought about the Yahoo boys in the streets. How do I mean? You may ask. You should know that everything about Yahooism (if there is any word like that) is hinged on deception. Deception is the action word in Yahoo practice. The few Yahoo men in administrations past and present, and in all political parties have successfully yahooed the unsuspecting Nigeria citizens on several fronts like roads, security, welfare, electricity, pipe borne water et cetera. Most of them are failures in their businesses only managing to keep it smoldering as a façade, covering their incompetence in management and leadership. They are the most irritating beggars. They can do anything to secure the people’s votes. Some unfortunately claimed they borrowed money to sponsor their campaigns so as to bring sanity to the system and provide good governance. And if by chance any of such wins, he/she will still leave the doors of joining the political race expensive to obviously ward off sincere citizens from coming close to spoil their deceptive business. These yahoo men do not understand what it means to be a leader; most of them are myopic in their thinking. They do not understand economic indices. The refuse to come to terms with the essence of government. Their knowledge of International relations and politics is unfortunate. They do close to nothing to ensure their citizens are respected internationally in all spheres. For example, the non-inclusion of Nigeria in the most accepted international payment systems. Perhaps they do not see the opportunities there that have kept millions of youths legitimately employed world over. They see themselves as lords while in office and so refuse to be accountable to the people. They are best described as rulers not leaders, for leaders are accountable to the people and ensure their welfare and security. But these folks appropriate all manner of luxury for themselves and their families in the name of lucre of office. On the seat of power they turn themselves to leeches sapping every available resource and is made worse by their uncouth sentiments; they derail the state further by appointing mediocrities over champions because like begets like. They are always in haste to tell Nigerians they are the best administration ever, well, it is one of the symptoms of yahoo men in government. Their blindness or emptiness is exposed by their refusal to interact on any issues raised but would rather attack the purveyors/critics of the government. To x-ray their wrong mentality and actions over the years, reflect on this questions. Why is it that any of such character that tested power will be stupendous rich all of a sudden? Do not rack your brain for an answer yet. Why is it more expensive to construct a kilometer of road in Nigeria than the best of standards elsewhere? Even with the amount spent, 2-3 years the same road would be in a sorry-state. Nigeria government has spent more money in electricity than most African States that are enjoying more stable electricity while ours is in comatose. Yahoo men! Water projects have received allocations over the years across the country to ensure water for all but where are the pipe borne waters? Can you see them around? Ask Yahoo men. Are we to talk about the huge security votes and why are the ranks and files of our security architecture not motivated. One can go on and on to name their deception. Perhaps we need to look into our involvements in NEPAD, MDGs, SDGs et cetera and check our levels of commitments and achievements in these goals. These folks will be ready to sponsor bills and enact laws as quickly as possible that will punish every off-shoot of corruption like kidnapping, cyber-crime, baby-factory, oil-bunkering, illegal mining, unpatriotic/divisive comments et cetera but will never enact a death penalty sentence on corruption the mother of all crimes. They are insensitive of the fact that even if you surround people with more than necessary number of security personnel without providing them with legitimate sources of livelihood they will definitely have to survive either ways. The insecurity, near total absence of welfare for Nigerians, lack of quality infrastructure and its maintenance is because the yahoo men, the leeches have always being in power with their accomplices: some civil servants, the termites on the corridor of administration had eaten up the resources meant for the welfare of Nigerians, security, quality construction and maintenance of infrastructure. These Yahoo men that pose as politicians have unfortunately succeeded in teaching our unemployed youths this deception (yahooism), who for want of space in our clime have chosen to ply their acquired skills aside the shores of our supposedly holy land (yes, for we are among the most religious countries). What a hypocritical clime. To understand how poor these Yahoo men are in the mind. They allotted/allowed to themselves bogus monetary entitlements/allowances/leisure that a hard working Nigerian serving his/her country will not get in 35 years before retirement. They are also swift in approving their benefits after their administration has ended while they dillydally on the meager benefits of those who have served the country for 35 solid years. No country makes progress with this kind of injustice. The worse is that this kind of injustice discourages hard work and honesty among the youths, the sincere Civil Servants and the selfless politicians. Who will bell the cat? The truth be told, we the Nigerian citizens are the ones to checkmate these Yahoo men and jail them. If we only pray and do nothing, they may still maintain their activities on the political stage. We need to act and resolve to force them to perform or be kicked out. Courage, justice, hard work, sacrifice, honesty, intellectual power, meritocracy, debates, patriotism, nationalism, selflessness and discipline are things we need to look up to in candidates and in our political discourse. While religion, tribe, indiscipline, parochial interest, mediocrity, self, nepotism, cowardice are things to look down on in candidates and in our political discourse. In electing public officers, Nigerians should always lookout for those who have succeeded in their personal endeavors in life. Persons who are open minded. Persons who have transverse the country and have friends across Nigeria. Perhaps, those who have lived or have businesses aside their region of origin. Who have respect for other people’s opinion and can tolerate criticism. So, how do you spot these Yahoo men when they are angling to take over power? They will refuse/avoid to attend political debates and cook up all manner of flimsy excuses because they have nothing to offer. Secondly, in order to win votes they will curry sentiments based on tribe and religion because they themselves are myopic. Thirdly, they are desperate, willing to buy votes and employ touts/militias to snatch ballot boxes and cause confusion. Their campaigns are mere jamborees. Nigerians, we do not need violence to force these Yahoo men out of the stage or make them accountable to us as electorates. We simply need to resolve and sacrifice the day of election to ensure we cast our votes and encourage our friends and neighbors to do the same. The sacrifice is needed because it is the day we hire new hands based on merit to decide our future, or re-elect performing candidates or retire under-performing ones. It is worth to note that ballot box stuffing and election rigging occur mainly in areas majority of voters decide not to turn out and cast their votes. This is a noble duty and an obligation we owe to ourselves. When a good candidate is elected irrespective of tribe and religion we will all reap the benefits. And the good thing is he/she will be accountable to us knowing that we are the bosses that hired him. But if we do not come out to vote, they will stuff the ballots boxes and rig elections to make up the votes we refuse to cast. Obviously this nefarious act will cost them money and when they are declared winners; they will never be accountable to us and will rather be the boss over us. This is the irony of democracy in Nigeria. Those in other countries that enjoy democratic dividends did not come from the moon. They paid the prize and stood up against those who wanted to derail their system at a point in time to ensure the system work for them and their children. This is one of the viable ways to bring sanity to the system. You may be liable for the rigging, hunger, deaths, insecurity, unemployment, deplorable roads, poverty et cetera seen in our land if you decide not to cast your votes. If we are going to be judged by God, it will be based on our choices and decisions. So, our decision not to vote in elections may speak against us. Let us resolve to be part of the movement for massive turnout of voters in election days. Thanks for your time. I rest my fingers. Nigeria will not survive the 2019 presidential election ON APRIL 16, 20199:01 AMIN FEMI ARIBISALA, NEWS, TRENDING135 COMMENTS By Femi Aribisala What we witnessed in the recently concluded election was the death knell of democracy in Nigeria. For those of us who had hoped against hope, the 2019 presidential election has proved to be the last straw. We are now convinced that Nigeria is a hopeless case. This country is not just a major disappointment; it is decidedly firmly on the trajectory of a future break up. European Union election observers going through the list of voters during the re-run of Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections in Jos on Saturday NAN Today, the silence in the Nigerian political space is deafening. Just look back to 2015 and before, when there was vibrant debate about almost everything under the sun. But now it is “siddon look.” We just had an election that was no election and more like selection. It was even more a mini civil-war, characterized by killings, voter-suppression and intimidation, ballot-snatching and falsification of results. There was even a case where the electoral umpire claimed he was made to declare a false result at gunpoint. But in spite of the bogus outcome of the elections, nobody is fighting anymore. Nobody is burning tyres today or demonstrating in the streets. Instead, people are watching and waiting to see what will happen. Surely, this cannot be the end of the matter. Phyrric victory The so-called victors are jubilant, reading the eerie silence as mission accomplished. However, the omen is bleak and dire. It is always better when people express their feelings freely. That way, you know exactly where they stand. But when everything is bottled up as it is now, then you know we are in for trouble. Sooner, rather than later, the dam will burst. There is definitely a cold war currently going on in Nigeria today, and it is a lull before the storm. Only those who have been bought, or political sycophants looking for scraps of the stolen pie, are talking. They are giving back-slaps and high-fives to the phyrric victors. Meanwhile, wisdom and reason have concluded that Nigeria is a lost cause. No point waiting for another farce in 2023. Now is the time for all good people to leave the country; either physically or psychologically. It is now clear that those who believe they have a future have no part in this failed and discredited state called Nigeria. To your tents, O Israel! Those who make peaceful change impossible, make forcible change inevitable. But that is not to suggest military intervention is the answer. We have already done that and got the t-shirt. All the military did, in all their years in power, was to drag Nigeria through the mud. There is no point putting any hope in them again, after all, it is the same military men who hijacked the democratic system simply by taking off their uniforms and putting on agbadas. Things fall apart Seeing the template established in this fraudulent 2019 election, the inevitable conclusion, at least to me, is that this Nigeria cannot survive. The message of the 2019 election is that Nigeria is doomed to disintegration. Things have fallen apart and the center cannot hold. The message is that the powers-that-be are determined that we must be satisfied willy-nilly with incompetence. They say we must put up with economic failure. They insist our new status as the poverty capital of the world is to be commended. They tell us returning Nigeria to major debt status is next-level achievement. They tell us to celebrate abject failure as glorious success. If you were to believe the lie, our leaders have resuscitated the naira. They have nullified power blackouts. They have removed the petroleum subsidy. They have reduced the pump price of petrol. They have created millions and millions of new jobs. Our hospitals are no longer consulting clinics. Life and property is now secure in Nigeria. Our agricultural sector has been suitably revamped. Our leaders have achieved self-sufficiency in food production in Nigeria. They have killed corruption in the land. They have rebuilt our roads and bridges. They have defeated Boko Haram and rescued the Chibok girls. They have restored the reputation of Nigeria in the comity of nations. As a result of these glorious achievements, the current government not only won re-election, it did so with a resoundingly bigger majority than before. Dashed hopes All this makes 2019 a major watershed in Nigerian political history. For some reason, hopes were rekindled during the campaigns; only to be dashed ruthlessly. The times are so bad, our situation so worrisome, that many presidential hopefuls came out of the woodwork. It was time to rescue Nigeria. It was time to change the dismal trajectory of the nation’s history. Surely, even the blind can see that we cannot go on like this. Surely, these crop of current Nigerian leadership will be thrown out by a despondent electorate. It was time for a new page; a new departure. What we needed was our very own Mercutio proclaiming a plague on both the houses of our delinquent political establishment of the APC and the PDP. So out came a new panoply of ambitious political mavericks, talking up public policy, debating the issues, offering new ideas for the renewal of the national mandate. Among these were Kingsley Moghalu, Oby Ezekwesili, Tope Fasua, Fela Durotoye and Omoyele Sowore. I shared their delusion in thinking the Nigerian political system was amenable change. I believed with them that we are all fed up with the status quo. So they formed new parties, toured the country, pumped flesh, marshalled new agendas; only to meet their Waterloo at the discredited polls. They obtained, or were awarded, an insignificant fraction of the millions of fabricated votes. So completely were they crushed that there is even talk now of making it difficult, if not impossible, for other parties to contest in future elections apart from the tweedledee and tweedledum of the APC and the PDP. Failed Nigeria The message of our Caesars in Abuja is without ambiguity: there is no room for change in the politics of Nigeria. Under no legal circumstances will those who have ceased power by deception and subterfuge willingly relinquish it for the sake of some nebulous construct called democracy. To hell with power to the people, they insist in one accord. Power belongs to the professional politicians in Nigeria, and forever so shall it be. The Nigerian electorate itself is no better inclined. God says in the scriptures about the Israel of old: “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own power; and my people love to have it so.” (Jeremiah 5:31). The 2019 elections show that a substantial number of Nigerians, especially in the North, are convinced this failed country called Nigeria is the best that Nigeria can be. Indeed, if the verdict of the doctored polls were to be believed, then most Nigerians are very much in love with this malignant Nigeria. They love a Nigeria that is poverty-stricken, where our leaders are thieves, armed-robbers and pen-robbers, where beggars and vagabonds roam the streets, where the illiterate and the uneducated are the champions of public policy, where human life is worthless and people are massacred in numbers every day. Nigerians, according to INEC, adore a Nigeria where truth has fallen in the streets and justice is an orphan. Death-knell of democracy Never again. If there is anything to be learnt from the experience of the failed new idealists who ran for president in mushrooming parties this time around and lost their shirts; it is that Nigerian politics is a complete waste of time. The electorate has apparently never believed in the polls. They know their votes will not count. They know the only time politicians have any regard for them is during election campaigns. So, if they can get a small bag of rice or garri from the charlatans running for office, or maybe even just 1,000 naira for their thumbprint, that will do just fine. If you can give them even more so they can attack polling booths in opposition strongholds and make away with the ballot boxes, they are ready. If you can give them lunch so they can incite a riot so an election being lost is declared inconclusive, they will do it. Thereby, the victor becomes the vanquished. As a result, we will not see the idealism of 2019 come 2023, should this misnomer we call Nigeria still exist by then. The newcomers are once bitten, twice shy. Even now, by the time we came to the gubernatorial elections, after the farce of the presidential, Nigerians had lost all interest in democracy. Most people did not even bother to come out to vote again. Of course, this did not prevent states like Kaduna from recording more fabricated votes in the gubernatorial election than even Kano did fictitiously in the presidential. In short, what we witnessed in the recently concluded election was the death knell of democracy in Nigeria. So what is the answer? Goodbye Nigeria More and more people are going to vote with their feet. The industrious and the enterprising are going to seek greener pastures elsewhere, having concluded Nigeria is a lost cause. They will go to Canada, to Australia, to those countries where merit is rewarded and excellence is the watchword. The smart ones who stay behind will start insisting on the dismemberment of this bogus contraption called Nigeria. What the 2019 election tells me, in no uncertain terms, is that the future of Nigeria lies in the breakup of Nigeria. It is not what I want. It is not what I desire. But it is there in the cards. I have written severally that Nigeria should remain united. I said again and again that Nigeria cannot do without the Igbo. I have shouted in the wilderness that Nigeria cannot do without the North. But I have now reached the conclusion that, under the present circumstances, the breakup of Nigeria is inevitable. It is just a matter of time. This is not a prediction: it is a warning. It is a call to arms. It comes from the realization that the Nigerian political system has now been programmed so that every election will now be decided by those whose votes can be bought with 30 pieces of silver. The system has been rigged so that every election in Nigeria will now be determined by those who have filled the voting register with underage voters. So doing, your chances of being elected to high office are excellent if you are incompetent, a crook, or a thief to boot. Otherwise, you don’t stand a chance. I congratulate all those who won infamous victories in the just concluded elections. But “send not to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.” |
THE PROBLEM WITH OUR LEADERS Most Ngerian leaders don't deserve the name 'leader' and it is true but very unfortunate that a country's development is seen and measured by the quality of its leaders. No wonder countries who take leadership serious set the bar of becoming a leader too high. Those we have as leaders have failed Nigeria, they have disappointed the citizens, have lied on oath, their children can't stand on any integrity on their personalities and have earned anathema on their names in the annals of our history. Why are most acclaimed leaders in Nigeria see no dignity in serving the country selflessly? Why do they always choose the cheap and shameful wide way that leads to perdition? After seeking our votes and when they get into office they almost immediately dish or take lightly their campaign promises while taking more serious their selfish gains. They now bar themselves from the voters and rely only on the persons they surround themselves with to get the feelings of the citizens as regard their performance but will only remember the voters again toward another round of elections. Nigerians need to understand and note how foolishly we have been dealt with over the years. Promiscuity always comes with loads of reasons. Same way the majority of these so-called leaders who are bereft with leadership ideas and skills have no ideological inclination toward any of the parties whatsoever; are ready to jump in and out of any or every political party for the single reason of SELF and shamefully we celebrate them while other countries that have made progress laugh at us. Leaders are afraid of the citizens were leadership is taken seriously and thus, must work for them to avoid been rejected or being painted negatively by history. Nigeria's case is the other way round: citizens are afraid of the leaders', perhaps because of our weak institutions that allow them to intimidate, harass, illegally arrest and molest in violation to our laws. Nigerian Youths for Good Governance is only seeking the reversal of the abnormality. Leader should be afraid of the citizens: whether PDP or APC or any other party in government the office of the citizens should be respected. Only when we have achieved this, we can comfortably say goodbye to mediocres as pseudo- leaders. Odor Michael Chigozie michaelpowa@yahoo.com |
BEWARE: MANY SOULS ARE ON THEIR WAY TO DESTRUCTION. It is appointed unto man to die once after which judgement follows (Heb. 9:27). Do you know that many souls like you and me are on their way to DESTRUCTION and it is only a few are working themselves out for the sake of their SALVATION? This is seen in Matthew 7:13-14. Where the Bible recorded that the way that leads to destruction is wide and many are on it while that , that leads to life is narrow and only few are on it. The above is confirmed in Revelation 20:12 where the dead, great and small standing before the Throne where books were opened and another book was opened which is the Book of LIFE. The books hold names of many for destruction while only one book that was opened holds the few names that have worked themselves out for salvation. Remember that the Bible instructs us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling which is the only condition that keeps us focus as Christ followers, result-oriented and that propels us to bear fruits that last in 30, 60, 100 folds. But if we decide to be nominal in our faith, then we are gambling with our souls and most likely going to make the disqualified list which is the destruction list. The Bible says, if you are not hot or cold you will be spit out (Rev. 3:16) This is the time to look away from the distractions in the world which is off-course a tactics to lure our souls from being focused on God's Kingdom Business. Let every man and woman that needs his/her name to be written in the book of life now refocus his/her attention on Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He, alone will call us to Himself on His second coming as recorded in the books. |
OUR MINDS SHOULD WORK OBJECTIVELY The questions we should be asking are: 1) Who appointed the DSS boss? 2) Was his appointment based on merit or clannish considerations? 3) At what point did he nosedived tto serve unholy interest? 4) Why didn't mr president show him the exit door before today? 5) Why shouldn't we allow the security agencies to carry their investigation than chose to conclude the matter here without being objective? |
Our constitution put the primary purpose of government to be the protection of lives and properties. This should be the basis for objectively measure every administration. It is unfortunate that killings by alleged killer herders are making a mockery of this administration owing to their promises and the expectations that greeted their victory at the polls, and whatever be their secret intention for accommodating killings, and without any real action against their activities. As long as it has been allowed to continues this long; will anybody run to defend this administration and claim that it has not failed the Nigerian citizens and the Nigerian constitution? Without mincing words this administration is a colossal failure and should be greeted with protests daily until they are either forced to think out plans to bring the killers to book or they throw in the towel. Who will defend this administration of president Mohammed Buhari under whose watch our land has been soaked with the blood of our sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers and nursing-mothers, grand fathers and grand mothers. Our communities deserted and our farmlands are now desolate. Who will defend him or make execuses for him? If it were to be your own siblings would you still defend him or excuse it away? Plateau has lost over hundred souls. Zamfara lost tens of humans. Benue is soaked with blood. Taraba is weeping for Nigerians killed there. Nasarawa is heartbroken for her lost of human capital. Adamawa nonplussed, she has nearly lost counts of Nigerians killed within her territory. While Borno is tired of weeping, for her hope has been dashed by the failure of the supposed savior. Perhaps, we should start writing with RED pens in our offices to mourn the victims of this administration maladies, political fanaticism and failure of leadership. Who will defend this administration? Who will excuse away their actions? Perhaps, someone who dine with them or someone without a family and feelings. An evil act is evil in everyone's eyes in a sane climate; unfortunately, in our clime we readily see people making excuses for failure and mediocrity thus displaying their insanity. It makes one to wonder whether humans live here or some kind of weird beings. In our daily actions and decisions we choose either to be on the side of the angel or that of the devil. Your reaction(s) obviously has shown where you belong to but repentance is an acceptable virtue in every human endeavor. TRUTH is always constantly true and LIGHT is always a victor over darkness. The current president according to our political history truncated democratically elected administration on 31st December 1983 which was unfortunate. Today, he has benefited from what he terminated yesteryears and seems uncomfortable shaping into a democrat as the system gives no other option. Remember, he previously wanted sweeping powers to be granted him via the proposed Emergency Economical Stabilisation Bill 2016 but the only institution of Democracy, the National Assembly was not disposed to meet that demand from a former military dictator. It may have slighted his hunger for political power. Perhaps, to ensure he wields this power without any form of conscience questions arising he disregarded the National Character and appointed mostly his cronies as heads to the national security institutions. Again, he dished some of National Assembly resolutions and wouldn’t assent to bills seeking to amend the constitution that would enhance democracy and its dividends to the citizens of Nigeria. Some heads of security institutions and some others which are part of the Executive arm would easily refuse to honor invitation by the National Assembly. Next is the harassment of the principal officers of the National Assembly and painting them black using the security apparatus of the state. This may whittle the democratic strength of the Assembly which could lead to the executive unleashing all manners of impunity and terror to the citizens and all perceived enemies of the president. The president seems uncomfortable with this democratic institution (the National Assembly) which double as the conscience of the nation; he would obviously go after each of the principal officers of the National Assembly so as to cow them into submission to his dictatorial whims and caprices. By so doing truncating again, if successful, another democratic experience of the Nigerian people. Such nocuous move should be rejected by all who value democracy; we must collectively stand up in the protection of the conscience of our democracy, and the only democratic institution of the land, the National Assembly before it will be night for Nigerian democracy. Religion and tribe are powerful opium that blinds our eyes and becloud our minds from making rational decisions based on facts. We have been a disservice to our country because of decisions and choices we have made out of these two horrors. Why are we made weak wherever and whenever these two horrors are flaunted? These have kept us as a country from making reasonable and rational decisions that would have lifted our country out of the woods. Decades have passed us by as a country and we couldn’t get the country on its feet rather we retrogress in most areas of our national life. The country is still crawling basically because of the injuries inflicted on her by our being intoxicated by religion and tribe. You claim you are of a particular religion and from a particular tribe, therefore, you are glad to inflict the country with problems by the decisions and choices you made that only satisfy your emotions and sentiment. While the country bleeds, you failed to realize that hunger, underdevelopment, insecurity, and poverty have no religion or tribe they belong to. They only reside in households found in countries that refuse to put the best hands in the right places; crowning mediocrities over champions. Question: Why running to developed countries that have purged themselves of these two horrors of tribe and religion in their decisions and choices that guaranteed their development to buy houses and make our home there? Why not make our homes anywhere here in Nigeria? No average person from a country that is easily influenced by religion and tribe can be able to provide good leadership unless he/she is among the few that have purged themselves from the intoxication of tribe and religion in favor of development, growth, welfare, merits, and security for the citizens. We need to rouse ourselves toward narrowing these fault lines. Firstly, you and I need to decide not to continue on this path and exorcise ourselves from these two demons (tribe and religion) from influencing our actions and decisions. Secondly, we need to resist pressure, temptation or being browbeaten into reclining back to the hands of these demons. Thirdly, we need to teach others to renounce the influence of tribe and religion in their decisions and actions by letting them know the dangers of such a lifestyle in our march to nationhood. Fourthly, we need to reject any politician or leader that tries to divide us by weeping these sentiments. Lastly, we should start agitating for the replacement of state of origin with state of residence. Life is full of varieties and varieties are the spices of life. Our heterogeneous nature as a country supposed to make us strong, impenetrable and solid. African problems supposed have found solutions under our feet and impossibilities melting away in our presence. Only if we had continued building on the laid foundation of nationhood: which have now been destroyed by no least person but US. Let’s rise and say yes to NATIONHOOD and discard the distractions of TRIBE and RELIGION: God help us. Is our once lovely governor, the man of the people turning a Jailer of the same people he promised to rescue? Who can we ever trust to lead the way in the state? Ndi Imo we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be depressed despite popping depression to the face. Don’t give in to defeat in the face of seemingly victory of our enemy: the political gangsters. Don’t be disappointed to a point of hurt because of the current government insensitivity; a snake will surely and truly show his nature. No, I reject it, may our land record no more suicide that results from power intoxication. I cry for her, my love, Imo my dear state; her pride has been ruthlessly taken by her illustrious sons (?) turned her nightmare: the current one too many for her to bear. In the history of our state, no government has ever easily and mindlessly executed such insensitive cut of the workers’ salaries like what we see today. No government in Igboland has ever made such an inglorious move against our senior, weak and defenceless citizens, the Pensioners like we see today: unlawfully forcing forty (40%) percent of their pension on them. No government in the history of the state has ever committed our commonwealth to such fripperies as we witnessed during celebrations and in other projects of this government. No government has ever barricaded itself from taking caution and criticism; ever, made a One-Man-Show government like what we see, feel and witness today. No government has ever sent such a huge number of its workers from both state and local governments packing without benefits as we have experienced with this government. No government has ever turned the affairs of the state to such a family business as it is today. This government has won the highest record in property acquisition in our history as a state: government functionaries’ illegally acquiring for themselves landed properties using the power of the state. Poverty has been spread in the land, weakening the citizens from asserting themselves and taking actions. Fear has been released in the air in order to control us. Who did this? Who brought this idea? They did it first in the spiritual realm and now it seems manifesting in the physical: only following a normal course. But assuredly, there is an end to every manipulation whether spiritual or physical: surely time is against the manipulators. I pray he hears the sound of time, and do the needful for most man-made-political gods end shamefully. I would be the last to wish such personality that desecrated and perpetrated such negativities in our land death: no, I wouldn’t want to lose him to perdition. May the land be wary of his feet and graciously lead his steps to a point of meditation, remorse and soul baptism. Ndi Imo this is a time of prayer, asking God to do what we cannot do for ourselves while waiting to do our bit for surely time will present an opportunity. He was blessedly born on 22nd September 1962 and hails from my dear state Imo; christened Rochas Anayo Okorocha the current governor of Imo State. Before becoming a governor, his personality perception of the majority Imolites was that of a philanthropist in education, a humanitarian, a lover of education, selfless and a giver of hope, an orator with an aura of good tidings, luring his listeners to want to possess him and burying his captive audience with his beaming smile. This majority perception as a force played out against an incumbent governor whom he dislodged from office in May 6th 2011 gubernatorial election in the state. People committed themselves in making sure that the man of the people, Rochas wins election by volunteering and contributing as low as N100 naira in order to fund his election; this is the power of positive perception. Such feat has never happened in the recent history of any governor in Igboland. Also, for the perception, Imolites were eager to show him off to Nigerians as one of the capable hands to become president of Nigeria from the East only hoping he proofs his worthiness by test riding the driver seat of the governor. Now, about six years down the lane, has the man, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha perception changed? Has he delivered good tidings to Imolites? Has he touched lives as believed he would? Has he better our educational system? Has he maintained selfless posture? Has his governance bring succour to the poor? Has he earned more love greater than the initial perception of him? Has he answered the clarion call for good governance? Has he driven the Rescue Mission Agenda to its destination? After going through the wave of his governance so far, can we say he has earned the promotion we desired for him by proofing himself worthy to earn a higher position? All these questions have been answered in some minds while some are still inconclusive in their own thoughts only waiting for the final whistle. It behoves on the Governor, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha to dish out whatever perception he wishes to wear. The way he wants people to see or perceive him is in his hands not on his Aides, advisers, Commissioners, Deputy, Family, In-laws, or even Friends. Just as it was before he became governor; His perception lies in his decisions, actions, and inactions seen and perceived by the governed. He did it before and he will either build on his past achievement or rupture a lovely personality he built for himself in the past. Good enough there is still time to mar or make, to destroy or build a personality so rare among politicians that ensures the benefit of the majority Imolites no matter the political party, locality or senatorial district. Good governance for me is like a white garment worn by a leader who when passes through the crowd of those he governed, comes out with little or no stain while bad governance is symbolised by a leader on a white garment greatly stained by the crowd of those he governed. Permit me to give honour to my hero, the crying governor, a man that made Igboland proud, an example of a good leader personified, a leader whose white garment was not stained, Late Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe Phd. He finished strong to our admiration, much greater than the admiration he had before becoming a governor. I pray that His Excellecy, Owelle Anayo Okorocha finishes strong for the betterment of our dear people and state. Also I wish he proofs himself worthy of promotion to a higher political responsibility in the nearest future. Odor Michael Chigozie, michaelpowa@yahoo.com 08036649656 |
