She’s been dead for 48 minutes. Strangely her face still had the usual smile I’d always known her for, the smile that radiates her face every time.
How did we even get here? How did I let this happen? How the hell did I go from being a lover to a murderer in the space of 6 months and most importantantly why I’m I standing next to the corpse of the girl l love?
“Joseph! Hey…. Joseph! C’mon man, we have to move this body! Right Now!”
He shoved me out of the way and wrapped her face with a pillowcase but even with her face hidden, I still saw that beautiful smile of hers.
We lifted her up and dumped her in the trunk….all 4 of us.
She was heavier…. Heavier than I had ever knew. I’ve carried her a couple of.times and had always told her how light she was.
But here we are… 4 strong guys, grunting while we lifted her. We dropped her in and it sounded loud. I held my head and shut my eyes tight.
Then I saw the flashing of lights, directed towards my face. It looked like the heavens had opened and caught us live in the act. I shivered, open my eyes but couldn’t see a thing…maybe the lights had blinded me.
“what are you boys doing this night”
It was the security man, he was a war veteran, strong and fierce with muscles all in the right places… If it ever came to a fight, he’ll drop us all with one punch each…
“Emmm… We’re going to the gym sir”
“This late in the night” What’s in the bag you’re carrying?”
“it’s our clothes……. It’s nothing sir”
“Is it nothing or is it clothes”
None of us said a word, I thought of running towards him, kicking him hard…
“I said what is in the bag”
This time, he began moving closer …. Yemi folded his palms and made a fist, I stepped back a little and grabbed a baseball bat…. Same weapon that she had died from…. We were ready for him, all 4 of us…..
Then he stopped, made a face and turned back.. I sighed… Let out the breath I’d been holding.
He started walking away, we all became relieved with each step he took farther.
Gbbrrrrrrrrrr…. Gbbrrrrrrr
Something vibrated…. Loudly! I reached for my pocket but it wasn’t my phone.
Gbbrrrrrrrrrr…..
Louder…. He turned around and began walking back to us.
Gbbrrrrrrrrrr….Gbbrrrrrrrrrr
I looked at the other guys, they looked at me…. In an instant, we all looked at the trunk where the sound came from…. It was her….she was vibrating….oh my God!
“ What in God’s name do you boys have in that bag”
He walked towards us, this time faster than before.
Gbbrrrrrrrrrr…..
I held the baseball bat tighter….. Ready for a swing…
