Hunter: Come out! No problem at all.
And like primary school pupils, matching from assembly in a straight line, they filed out one after the other. Still, none of them spoke, they just stared at the hunter who was about 6 feet plus tall and quite lanky.
With a surprised expression, the hunter asked
Hunter: What happen? All of you are plenty plenty before.
Lanre: (cleared his throat) Pardon us sir! We don’t know who you are and how did you know there were more of us?
Moji: (cuts in) Are you the shadow?
Hunter: Shadow? I don’t know shadow!
Mary: (pulls Moji out of her way) pls ignore her. Have you by any chance seen the rest of our coursemates? We got lost in the bush and can’t seem to find anyone anywhere.
Hunter: No i have not seen nobody. You have to come follow me, it is not good, going about in this bush this night.
Lanre: What do you mean?
Hunter: I know you no lost.. you all running from something because you think he kill you.
They all stepped back in fear. .
Hunter: But you no worry. Long long time, i have hunt in this bush and i am alive till now. Come with me, i will show you the way out.
Once again they all faced Lanre, as if to wait for him to make a decision.
Lanre: I don’t know guys? What should we do?
Uche: I think we should go with him
Emma: What if he’s leading us to our deaths.
Moji: Good point.
Temmy: But he said he is not going to hurt us.
Emma: So we should just believe whatever he says?
Daniel: I have a bad feeling about this but do we have any other choice?
They all went mute at the realization that there isn’t much of a choice for them.
Lanre: Ok sir! But where are you taking us to ?
Hunter: I take you to place i sleep in the bush or i show you way out of here.
Emma: Do you sleep in the Cabin?
Hunter: Cabin? No no Cabin. No cabin in this bush.
Lanre: No…. We entered a cabin when the rain was falling
Hunter: What rain? No rain at all! No rain no fall here in months.
It was then they looked all around them , to see the ground was so dry like it hadn’t rain in months for real . They looked at one another in disbelief, beginning to doubt their own sanity.
Lanre: Are you telling us no rain has not fallen tonight and there is no cabin around here at all
Hunter: No No! No rain tonight, no cabin here!
Emma: Guys, what the hell is happening to us?
Daniel: I told you all we are just high and seeing things not real.
Moji: If we all are just high, then where is everybody else ? Didn’t we just saw one of us dragged into a cabin that apparently doesn’t exist?
Uche: We can’t be high and be seeing and experiencing the same things. That’s not possible.
Hunter: Hurry! Too much time going, let’s go now. I help take you out of this bush.
They followed him as he led the way, his strides and pace were wide and fast so they practically had to be on their hills to keep up with him.
Lanre walked up to him…
Lanre: Sir, Can you explain what is really going on? Why are our classmates dying?
The hunter stopped abruptly, looked at them all, the shock in his eyes got them worried.
Hunter: Dying? No no…… No dying.
Lanre: Yes.
Hunter: No! “Oregun” no kill anybody!
Emma: What are you saying? You just told us, you know something is trying to kill us.
Hunter: Yes but “Oregun” no kill anybody. “Oregun” never kill anybody.
Uche: What the hell us “Oregun” ?
Hunter: “Oregun” is our tree protector in the village.. People come with big trucks every time to come and chop down trees in our bush. We in the village no like that so we prayed to “Oregun” to protect our trees. He just scare the people away, they run out of bush but he no kill.
Emma: Well Mister, Your “Oregun” has started killing now
Hunter: “Oregun” scare people, they think he kill them but he don’t kill. If you say something is killing you…..that is not “Oregun” i have to go, you go your way, i want no trouble.
The hunter’s face lit up in fear, they had no doubt in their mind he was genuinely scared of whatever has been hunting them all night too . He began walking away as fast as he could.
Lanre: Sir! Please wait! You said you’d show us the way out of here.
Hunter: No , can’t do that. You go that way and that way but i no help you.
Temmy: (crying) please sir, help us!
Hunter: I no want trouble
Emma: Please just take us half the way out of here and you can go back.. You know your way around this bush, only you can help us.
The hunter looked down and sighed like he was having a deep thought. He wanted to say no to this cursed people, he didn’t want to have anything to do with them.
The urge of setting off and running away so fast crossed his mind but finally he shook his head and spoke.
Hunter: Okay i will take you
He led the way again as they all chorused their “Thank You” in unison.
But right at that moment he began walking, he started coughing. They murmured their Sorries to him but became alerted when the coughing didn’t stop.
They watched on, as he dropped on his knees, clutching and his palm placed on his chest.
Lanre and Uche ran to him .
Lanre: Water… . Water! Does anyone has water?
But no one had water so they kept watching in horror as his coughing got louder and blood was seen coming out of his mouth.
It seemed like their horror would never end until Suddenly, he fell on his face, it was quiet now. Every single one of them stood their positions except Lanre and Uche who had run to the hunter earlier on to try and help.
They looked dumbfounded as Uche got closer to the body on the ground and felt the hunter’s pulse.
He stood upright, with his hands folded across his chest as the others looked on at him to confirm their worst fears.
Uche: Guys….. He’s dead
Emma: (Sighed) (giggles) It’s official,…..
. we all are totally f@#ked!

By the time they stopped running, the rain had stopped but Halimat wouldn't stop crying and none of them bothered to quiet her up.

They were all occupied with their individual thoughts and were overwhelmed by fear. That was the first time they'll be seeing the Shadow up and that close.

Halimat: (Faces Lanre) You said if were all together we'll be save, now look at what just happened.

Mary: No, You shut up right there! If you had listen to a simple instruction, Timothy will still be alive.

Halima: (crying) No!..No! .... we don't know if he's dead....ma....maybe he got away...

Daniel: Yea....Would you like to go back and check? We'll wait for you here.

Lanre: Guys stop! This is not the time to start throwing blames around.... we lost Timothy because we weren't united, we couldn't agree. This isn't just about being together, we need to agree and make unanimous decisions. Please.....!!!

Temmy: (Sighed) I'm hungry.....!

Uche: Me too.

Moji: We ate few hours ago...

Uche: Well.... all that running had taken alot out of me..... By the way, if I'm going to die here tonight, i don't wanna go hungry. Who knows, maybe that are fasting in heaven.

Daniel: You mean Hell!!

Temmy giggles....

Mary: We shouldn't be making jokes about dying, OK?

Uche: Really? Why shouldn't we? Look around you babygirl, there are deaths everywhere. Everyone is dead! Here i am stuck with a freak and his girlfriend, the class talkative and a muslim girl who doesn't shake guys' hands ...... and you want us to be united? Hell No!

Moji: Watch it! You think anyone wants to around you too? You go around acting like you can beat all of us because you know "Chapandoh"

Uche: It's Taekwondo

Moji: Whatever!!

Lanre: Hey guys listen.... Do you hear that?


They all stopped and heard someone whistling a tune.....

Temmy: (Whispering ) Maybe that's one of us.....

Emma: Or the thing that's trying to kill us.

Lanre: Okay....okay... wait.... the whistling is getting closer. Quick! Let's hide behind that tree, I'll peep and check out who the person is.

They all hid behind a tree, bending to the ground. Lanre snuck up behind a tree too, hoping to get a glimpse of the view.

He saw nothing except an old lantern and a hand which held it. His heart skipped a beat, he took a deep breath and tried again, now he saw him.

A man, perhaps a little older than them, a local hand made gun in his other hand with a sack tied around his waist. He kept whistling his tune happily and shaking his head to the rhythm.

Lanre crawled back to the rest.


Lanre: (Whispering ) I think he's a hunter in this bush, he has a local gun but i don't think he's a danger to us.

Daniel: If i heard you correctly, you said he has a gun!!

Lanre: Yes! A local gun.

Daniel: ....and that's supposed to make me feel better? Like local guns don't kill too...

Moji: I agree with Daniel. It's too dangerous talking to anyone now.

Lanre: But guys, maybe he has seen the rest of our classmates, we could ask him....

Temmy: No Lanre! We are not putting ourselves out to be slaughtered.

Lanre: (sighed ) Okay then.

The whistling was very close now, they could hear his footsteps has it rustles the bushes around. It got even closer..... and closer....they all froze as the ray of light from the lantern got closer too.

And suddenly..... the whistling stops, the footsteps were not heard anymore, just the lights from the lantern.......


Hunter: Hellu! I see all of you, long long time. Come out! I wee not do anything.


No one said a word, they were all to afraid to move an inch.

okay, sorry I thought you were writing a prose at first until I noticed you writing again in a drama form, I don't mean to devalue your write up sir but I find it really foolish when you mix prose and drama form of writing together, it gives me head ache. Please can you stick to one form of writing please, it would never make you a good writer if you keep that up, I'm not a literature student but I assure you that this kind of write up would get thrown out in any competition be it prose or drama writing. I couldn't read pass page 0. Maybe I'll be back later and try again.

Wow, I'm a writer too and people giving you the worst of all criticism is part of the job, it doesn't mar you, criticism makes you.

Someone once said, "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen " Why ask for comments if you ain't ready to hear them?

I believe the point of posting on NL is to have an increased Fan base. I'm no critic, i say what i perceive to be the truth.

No one's going to remember the people whose comments pissed you off, what they will remember is how you reacted to it, which obviously was very rude.

You could have made it right by apologizing to the rest and ignore the few... Thousands of people view this topic and it took less than 10 people to show the the thousands you don't care if they read your story or not. You never apologized to the person you said RIP to, maybe you should, that might still help people realize you're human like the rest of us and bad comments actually hits us bad.

I know i have said too much, hopefully you don't quote me and tell me RIP or that i don't matter...we'll see.

You are an amazing writer girl, best scripts and beautiful write-ups but don't let that get to your head, it's actually people who say bad things about us that encourage us to be better.

Shadows (episode nine)

Timothy: Do you guys remember that day when the HOD was in class to lecture us about lexis and structures? Hahaha…. Such a fat man!
Silence………
Timothy: …. Remember when he bent down to pick a pen marker and we all heard the ripping sound of his trouser tearing from behind…
Silent laughters and some giggles….
Timothy: Hahaha…. Poor man! His very unfortunate boxers was showing….no one could tell if the boxer was originally white but now turned to brown…
Laughters….
Timothy: Mehn…. i don’t think that boxer had been washed in a year, i doubt if water has touched it at all.
This time everyone laughed as they thought about that moment in class. They’ve all been trekking for a while, not sure if they’re going out of the forest or going deeper into it.
Temmy: Funny moment ehn… i laughed so hard, i almost fell off my chair.
Uche: Hahahaha…. The man later found out when he saw John and Habeeb…….(silence )
They all became silent again. Both John and Habeeb are dead and it was difficult to think about it.
Lanre: (Clears throat) We have to survive this you know… we have to get out of here for the ones we have lost. Please let’s stick together, we can beat whoever is doing this….
Uche: I think i know a way to do that.
They all stopped to look at him, wondering what he meant and waiting on him to continue….
Uche: I was attacked earlier by it, i didn’t see a face. He was all dark….
Lanre: Something like a…. Shadow?
Uche: Yes….Yes! A shadow! Just that it’s a physical shadow that you can touch and feel. It grabbed my legs and was dragging me away, it was so fast, moves like a wind!
I’m a blackbelt holder in Taekwondo, a champion in kick-boxing and a master in Jujitsu…. yet i couldn’t match it. That thing isn’t human!
Moji: But you said we could fight it, How do you mean?
Uche: Yes, while it was dragging me away, i grabbed my lamp and switched the lights on….. bringing it close to get it’s face. I noticed it became scared of lights, immediately let go of my legs and took off…..
Emma: Okay….that makes sense! Light is the opposite of darkness.
Lanre: But wait….. Is it not light that created shadow in the first place? I mean there can be shadows only when there is a source of light to cast it out?
Halimat: So….. what are you saying?
Lanre: I’m saying….there won’t be a shadow if there’s no light. Think about this….. When Kamoru was killed, the headlamp of the bus were on….. When it grabbed Emma, we were all pointing our lamps and torches towards him as he climbed the bus….
Uche: Are you saying whatever that thing is, it’s using our lights to try and kill us?
Lanre: Yes guys! That’s what I’m saying! Darkness isn’t the opposite of light, Darkness is the absence of light! The shadow is using our lamps to find us!
Daniel: That’s nonsense
Mary: No it’s not! John and Shade both couldn’t have gone far out without a lamp or torch.
Moji: Emma, Remember we saw Habeeb’s lamp switched on when we found his body.
Daniel: Just shut up! All of you! Nothing about all these is real, Okay? We’re all hallucinating! Temmy… What i gave you to put inside the rice was a special weed from Jamaica.
Timothy: What?? Dammit! You drugged us!
Daniel: I just wanted everyone to be “high” . We’re all probably sleeping in our tents and dreaming about all these.
Uche: Oh! Really??
With a quick movement of his body, Uche laid a rather heavy kick on Daniel’s chest, sending him tumbling to the ground.
Uche: Tell me again, you stupid idiot! Does that kick feel like a dream to you??
Temmy rushed towards Daniel who was on the floor, wrapping her arms around him and checking to see if he was okay.
Daniel: (coughing) Well then, if this is real, then we have you to blame! You were the idiot who kicked the cat guy out of the bus. If anyone deserves to die, it should be you!
Uche moved towards Daniel again but this time around the other guys were quick enough to get between them. Both of them were being dragged away from each other.
Lanre: Both of you stop this now! This is not the time to……. (Thunder….and lightening )
Everyone of them relaxed and looked up unto the sky…
Halimat: Alhamdulilah! Looks like it’s about to rain!
Timothy: Seriously?? It’s about to rain, we have nowhere to hide, we all are at risk of catching pneumonia and you’re saying Alhamdu- something?
Halimat: Rain is a blessing from Allah!
Timothy: hian…You religion fanatics piss me off! Now God wants to bless us with rain ? When he has been watching our classmates get butchered all night …
The rain began to fall with the wind blowing….
Lanre: We should find a tree and stay under it, that should be better than staying here.
They all moved, looking around, hoping to spot a tree with big branches. Mary saw one and pointed it out to the rest. They agreed it was good and all rushed under it.
Lanre was right, it was better under the tree. This time Mary was shivering, so Lanre removed his shirt and covered her with.
Timothy looked at them both and shook his head in disbelief but more like he was pitying them both.
Moji: Guys look over there! Is that a….. cabin?
They all looked up and saw a cabin some distance away from where they stood.
Moji: We should go in there!
Daniel: What? Does that not look suspicious to you? A cabin in this forest!
Moji: Cabins are meant to be in the forest dude! It’s probably owned by a hunter!
Daniel: There’s nothing good about this forest, any hunter here would equally be evil!
Moji: (Faces Lanre) Tell them it’s Ok to go in there Lanre!
Lanre looked around and saw them all looking right back at him, waiting for his decision….. somehow they’ve all seen him as the front man.
He was confused, looked at Mary and saw her fidgeting and shivering, the cold is hitting her hard.
They can all stay in the rain and fall sick or go into the mysterious cabin.
Lanre: I can’t decide for you guys but we can all catch a cold by staying here…. i think we should check the cabin out….
Moji was the first to move, pulling Halimat with her. The rest rest doubled their speed, almost running towards it.
They got to the front and stopped so Uche volunteered to check it out. He climbed unto the patios and moved closer to the door.
He knocked a little, with no response, he bang the door a little harder… still no response. He looked back at the rest and gave a nod.
With his lamp in hand, he pushed the door open and went in….
The rest moved closer..
Lanre: Uche…. Say something man! Is everything alright?
Silence…
Lanre: Uche……!!!
Uche: Aaaaaarghgghhhh……!!!
Uche screamed loud as the rest moved backWards and falling over one another!
Uche came out, laughing hysterically as he watched them all trying to get on their feets.
Daniel: You idiot! This is not the time for such plays!
Uche: (still laughing ) Even if i was being attacked, that’s how you guys would have ran off shey?? Come in joor! Everything looks good and safe in here.
They all laughed it off and went inside the cabin…….
What they didn’t see were the two human skulls that laid on the floor right behind the door.

The cabin was quite cozy, the warm air welcomes them as they stepped in. There were sofas and couches so they all found places to sit and relaxed.
No one spoke, something about here felt right. They all decided they will be here until the day breaks .
But Lanre wasn’t comfortable, this is Nigeria and it is uncommon for anyone to have a cabin in the forest. Any hunter around here would be from the Igbo Alaye village so it wouldn’t make any sense to build a cabin in the forest again since village isn’t that far away.
Lanre kept looking around, he had already told everyone to switch off their lamps, only one lamp was on but it was kept under a small table.
Mary: Baby… you still look worried
Lanre: (smiling ) you know i always worry about everything.
Mary: Yes i know! But looks like we are safe here. In the morning we can search for our classmates and hopefully find them all alive and well.
Lanre: Okay babe! I’ll try to relax.
Mary: Thanks! Do you think we can ever get over this? Seeing a camp turned into a bloody ground. I’m sorry i forced you to come… we shouldn’t have been here.
Lanre: No honey! You meant well! No one knew something like this could have happened. No regrets okay? We’ll make it out of here alive…
Mary: Promise?
Lanre: I promise honey.
Mary: I love you.
Lanre: I love you more.
Mary: (giggles) My friend, Halimat looks rattled up. I better go talk to her.
Lanre: Okay then!
Mary stood and went to speak with Halimat. Immediately she left, Timothy moved closer to Lanre.
Timothy: So you loved her huh?
Lanre: Yea i do.
Timothy: waste of time, total bullsh*t! These girls only stick with you as long as you’re doing what they want. The very moment you face any challenge, they’ll come up with a stupid story and break up with you
Lanre: emmm…. looks like you have been hurt by a girl before.
Timothy: Yes! And they are all the same! They ask you to change for them and when you do, they tell you, you are not the guy they used to know. They say you’re different, even though it was their idea that you should change.
Lanre: You have to stop thinking this way. There are still good girls in the world.
Timothy: The few good ladies in the world were our mothers… .
Lanre opened his mouth to object but he couldn’t as a knock was heard at the front door of the cabin.
They all stood up. It was still raining outside
Lanre: Who is it?
Silence……
The tension in the room rose, they all jerked back as the knock came again, it was louder and looked like whoever was out there was eager to come in.
The air around the room became colder
Lanre: Who is it?
Helen’s voice: Open the door! It’s me!
Halimat: Oh my God! Helen! You are alive! Alhamdullilah!
She moved towards the door to intending to open it but Lanre pulled her back
Lanre: We have to be careful, we don’t know who that is!
Halimat: Of course we do! That’s Helen out there in the rain.
Mary: But how are we sure it’s her??
Helen’s Voice: Let me in Guys! It’s cold out here and my clothes are soaked wet!
Lanre: Guys this is happening again! Remember i asked you not to let the cat guy in the bus but you did, look where that got us. We have to be careful!
Halimat: That was the cat guy! This is Helen! She’s one of us, are you suggesting we leave her out there in the rain?
Emma: What do we do now?
Daniel: Let’s be sure it’s Helen first!
Uche: How do we do that??
Lanre: Helen! The last time i saw you, you left with KC and Tobi, where are they now??
Helen’s Voice: I don’t know.. .(Crying and banging the door ) please let me in….let me in…I’m one of you!
Mary faced Lanre and pulled him close.
Mary: Baby! I know Helen, she’s one of the strongest girls around! There’s no way she could cry like this.
Lanre nodded in agreement, he was going to say something but Halimat moved forward, it was fast, before anyone could stop her, she had reached the door, unlocked it and opened it wide.
There it was, the shadow, standing at the doorway… But the lights in the cabin was so dim, it wasn’t enough to cast a shadow!
So the shadow remained at the doorway.
In fear and anguish…. Halimat jerked backwards into the room. She didn’t look where she was going so her legs hit the small table that covered the lamp, illuminating the whole room in the process.
The shadow laughed out loud as it floated into the room, circling above them all. Lanre yelled out….. Run!!!!… as he grabbed Mary and made a quick dash out of the room, Daniel and Temmy followed them, Emma and Moji did the same.
Timothy and Uche were the next, as they got to the door, Timothy looked back and saw Halimat on the floor, he turned around to help her up.
Uche: Timothy let’s go!!
Timothy reached Halimat, pulled her up on her feet. They almost made their way outside when the Shadow grabs Timothy’s leg, he fell down hard. Halimat held his hands and try to pull him out, Uche joined her too, the rest all came up, trying to pull Timothy out.
But all of them were no match for the Shadow. They heard the crushing sounds as Timothy’s bones cracked due to pressure.
Timothy: (crying) Let go….let go….just save yourselves…..(crying)….
Halimat: (Crying) No…. No…..
In a flash, Timothy slipped off their hands and was pulled into the cabin, the door closed behind him.
The rest got up and started running off…. all they heard were thunderclaps and Timothy’s voice as he screamed out in pain. No one looked back, they kept running.

Updating tonight..... sorry friends

Shadows (Episode Eight)
All his life, Emma had never felt the way he felt when the hand grabbed him, choking him and leaving hanging unto the thread of life.
All he heard were the screams of his classmates as his body fell under the bus. Everyone had scampered away in different directions, the pain around his throat couldn’t hold him down. One thing he has learnt in life was, when there’s danger; Run as fast as you can!
That was what he did. He has never ran faster in his life than the way he did after falling and picking himself up.
Moji: Emma! Are you alright?
Emma: Yes….uhm…..No……. I don’t know.
Moji: It’s Okay dear! We’re going to make it out of here alive.
That’s one thing about Moji, she’s always the most optimistic one, never for once believing things can go worst than it already has.
He had seen her fall to the ground as he was running, he reached unto her, grabbed her hand and urged her to continue running. They both ran a few distance when they saw Temmy, Moji’s bestfriend and the class rep. Together they all made plans and decided which direction would get them out of the forest faster.
The class rep has suggested with certainty that they go the direction they are currently treading.
Emma: Uhmm…. Class rep, you’re very sure where going the right way?
Class rep: Emma! I told you already.
Moji: How are you so sure?
Class rep: I follow my Dad on hunting trips, i know my way around the forest.
Emma sighed and let it go. They had only two lamps, the class rep was holding one and Moji was holding the other.
Temmy has been quiet since the whole incident, the only time she had spoken was when she prayed for Daniel, hoping he was alright.
Everyone knows how much she likes Daniel and would do anything to please him.
Emma decided to say something to cheer her up, probably tell her he knows Daniel to be a tough guy and he sure will be alright wherever he is…… So he looked up towards where he believed Temmy had been walking….. but then, she was not there, as a matter of fact, she was nowhere to be found.
Emma: Wait guys! Where is Temmy?
They all paused, looking around and at one another like the other person should know…..
Moji: Oh my God! She was right here before
Class rep: When was the last time anyone of you saw her?
Emma: I don’t know….uh…few minutes ago….5 minutes maybe!
Class rep: Are you kidding me? We’re just 4 and you guys didn’t know where she went??
Moji: Hey! Don’t try to pin this on us!
Class rep: I’m right here walking in front, leading the way so i can get you nitwits out of here and you couldn’t even look out for eachother?? ……. You just stand holding eachother’s hands like that’s the most important thing to do right now!
Emma: Don’t talk to her like that
Class rep: And if i do….what you gonna do about it
Emma: I’ll shut your mouth! It was your idea we all come here in the first place..
Class rep: …..and did i force you to come?
Emma: You chose this place, this stupid camping was your idea….How are we sure you didn’t just lead us here to slaughter us all
Moji: Emma…..don’t talk like that!
Emma: Think about it Moji! Do we even know this guy?? We all call him “Class rep” Does anyone know his real name for sure?
All the while, the class rep stood still , raging on his feet , Moji was trying to calm Emma down and had her back against him. He reached into the sack he had been carrying, reach his hands into it and felt for the cutlass….. His hands reached the wooden handle and he brought it out. Still neither Moji nor Emma saw him, he moved closer towards them, raising his hands up high as he held the cutlass………
Suddenly, There was a scream, a female voice, crying and shouting for help. They all looked towards the direction the scream came from.
Moji: That’s Temmy for sure! I know her voice!
She dashed towards the bush and Emma followed her. With the lamp in hand, running as fast as they could.
They saw Temmy on the ground crying, beside her was some boy lying in the bush…. he was obviously dead already but not only that, his eyes had been plucked out and left dangling by his temple.
Emma: Temmy are you alright What happened?
Moji bent beside her, pulling her close in a warm embrace, trying hard to ignore the corpse beside them.
Temmy: i bent down, i swear to God i bent down for just a few seconds and when i looked up, you were all gone. I started running and then i heard you calling me
Emma: Me? I called you?
Temmy: Yea… you called out! You said “Temmy! We are here” i came towards the direction and i saw him…. on the ground, he took his last breath when i got here and that was when i called for help….
Emma: uhmmm.. .Temmy…. I didn’t call you
Temmy: What? You did! I’m sure you did! It was your voice i heard!
Moji: Okay….okay… it’s fine! Let’s get out of here….. and does anyone know who this is? (Pointing to the corpse)
Emma: Yea…. That’s Habeeb! I recognise his wrist band.
Moji: Okay…The more reason we have to leave this place….. Class rep!… which way are we going now?
Silence….. They all looked around for the class rep……. He was gone.

Lanre, Mary and Halimat were walking alone when they saw lights coming from a direction.
Mary: Are you seeing that??
Lanre: Yea! Looks like the lights coming from lamps…. They must be our colleagues
Halimat: Alhamdulilah!
They hurried towards the place and were welcomed by excited voices.
Moji: Thank God! Lanre, Mary and Halimat!! It’s awesome seeing you guys are okay.
Mary: I’ve never been happier to see you guys too. Temmy, how are you??
Emma: she’s a little shaken up. She just saw someone die.
Lanre: Jesus! Who waa it again?
Emma: It was Habeeb! His eyes were gorged out man!
Halimat: (crying ) What’s going on? Who is doing this to us? What have we done to deserve this?
Lanre: I had a bad feeling about these whole thing
Temmy: We should have listened to you. Please…. has anyone seen Daniel?
Mary: (sighed) No we haven’t! We only saw KC, Tobi and Helen
Moji: So.. where are they now?
Lanre: They left us! We had plans to come looking for the rest of you guys but they wanted to leave.
Emma: Bad idea! The best thing for us right now is to stick together. John, shade, Kamoru and Habeeb were all probably alone when they were attacked and killed.
Mary: That’s true! But someone grabbed you while we were all together…
Lanre: To scare us off and split us into smaller groups
Emma: So they can silently kill us..
Temmy: Looks like it’s working…..
They all went numb at the obvious realization that someone is planning to kill them all.
Lanre: What about you guys, have you seen anyone?
Emma: We were with the class rep but we lost him. He and I argued about something, i think he got pissed off and went away.
Halimat: There’s something i have to tell you guys about the class rep?
They all looked at Halimat in anticipation of what she was about to say. She had her head down, visibly shaken and fidgeting. Trying to find the best words to use amd tell them what she saw the class rep do….
Halimat: Back at the camp before all this, i saw him……..
Timothy: (cuts in) These mad people are alive sha!
Everyone turned around to find Timothy, Uche and Daniel walking towards them. Temmy who couldn’t hide her excitement ran towards Daniel and they held eachother tight in a warm embrace.
Temmy: DannyLove….. I’m so glad you’re okay!
Daniel: I’m good Temmy! Hope you’re not hurt in anyway…
Temmy: No! I’m fine.
The rest of them hugged and shook hands. It felt so good seeing their colleagues. They all stood still for a while, making plans on what to do next. They agreed to stick together, go in search for the others and after that would all make their way back to the bus.
Lanre was excited and looking around, he counted that there were 9 of them, Mary, Moji, Temmy, Halimat, Daniel, Uche, Timothy, Emma and himself.
He silently said a prayer in his mind, hoping none of them would get hurt again.
They bagan walking, making sure the four girls were in the middle. Every single of them were trying to remain focus, there were no rooms for mistakes now. They need to watch eachother’s backs.
In a safe distance, right behind a tree was the shadow, stalking them as they move, it couldn’t get any closer because most of them had a lamp in hand…There was too much lights.

Shadows (episode Seven)
Lanre: Hey hey…..Relax guys! It’s just us!
Tobi: Damn! You almost killed us with fear! What are you guys doing appearing from the bush like that.
Lanre: We heard you arguing so we figured you’re one of us.
Helen: Oh my God! Mary, I’m so glad you’re alright.
Mary: Me too. How are you guys? Is anyone hurt?
Halimat: we’re all fine. Alhamdulilah!
Lanre: Did you guys see anyone else?
Tobi: everyone ran in different directions, It’s difficult to find people now. We’re just lucky we found eachother here!
KC: Guys! I say we get out of here now!
Lanre: No! Not yet, we have to find the others!
Kc: Are you crazy? There’s something out there killing people in this forest!
Lanre: And that’s the more reason we need to find everyone and get back home safe!
Tobi: You’re talking about finding like 20 people in the dark, in a forest as big as this??
Helen: 22 people
Kc: You hear that? 22 people!
Lanre: This is what he wanted! For us to split up, so he can kill us one after the other!
Kc: He? What do you mean “He”?
Halimat: Do you know who killed Kamoru, John and Shade?
Lanre: You all should have figured that out now… you should know it’s the cat guy
Tobi: No! I think it’s the forest. This place is definitely haunted by evil spirits
Helen: So you think we did something to piss them off?
Halimat: It’s definitely the cat guy, he looked really fetish.
Kc: Dude was just a drunken bastard who was a little melodramatic
Mary: Cat guy or Evil spirits, i don’t care! Something or someone is killing people! Can we just decide what to do and get out of here, please?
Kc: I say we go home!
Lanre: Not without finding the others
Kc: Guess we have to take a vote then.
Lanre: Good. If you think we should find the others move to the right! If you think we should find our way out of here, to the left.
Mary was the first to move to the right, she knew she must back up her boyfriend no matter what. Halimat joined her immediately. Tobi moved to the left where Kc was standing. Helen stood exactly at her position, not moving an inch.
Lanre: Helen…. what is gonna be?
Helen stood looking at both sides, Halimat kept gesturing unto her to come with her.
Helen: Well…. Tobi and Kc are good looking guys!
Halimat: Are you kidding me! You’re making your decision based on guys? Helen!!
Helen: shut up! I came to this camp to hook up with guys! If i’m going to die today, i should sex before going.
Mary: Helen! I’m going to slap some sense into you right now!
Kc: Let her be! You made your decision and we’ve made ours!
Helen: …..and Halimat… goodluck dying a virgin (laughs)
Tobi, Kc and Helen took off in the direction they believe would take them back to the village.
The rest, Lanre, Mary and Halimat looked on till they were no longer in sight.
Lanre: Okay guys! I believe we’re doing the right thing. We can’t leave our colleagues behind!
Halimat: Yes we know. I believe most people ran towards that direction (She points)
Lanre: Ok then. Let’s go!
They left with their lamps in hand. There was a full moon in the sky. That, and the lamps allowed them to see clearly. They walked as closely together as they could. Each lost in their individual thoughts, each wondering whether they are doing the right thing or just walking ahead, right into their graves.

12:53AM
Daniel: Guys! Do we even know which way we’re supposed to go? We could be going deeper into the forest as a matter of fact.
Timothy: So what do you suggest? That we stay put in a place till morning?
Daniel: That wouldn’t be a bad Idea.
Timothy: (sigh) Uche what do you think??
But Uche wouldn’t say a word. He has been quiet for the past 10mins, since the “thing” attacked him! Neither Timothy nor Daniel believed his story, they both even laughed at him. He kept looking around at intervals, just to see if the thing is still following them. Where was it dragging him to? Uche thought to himself. Why not kill him at that moment? Why drag him around?
Timothy: Uche!!!!
Uche: (startled) Yeah… yea??
Timothy: C’mon bro! Haven’t you been listening to what we’ve been saying?
Uche: Yes i have! I said we shouldn’t have come to this camp!
Timothy: We finished that conversation about 8 mins ago.
Uche: Oh!
Daniel: Uche! Nothing is here! You’re just worried.
Uche: It almost killed me!
Daniel: Nothing almost killed you man! All these is in your head! Everyone is just acting up!
Uche: But you saw it too! We all saw it! We saw the black hand grab Emma!
Daniel: We thought we saw a hand! It’s nothing but hallucinations!
Uche: How can you be so sure!
Daniel: Because……
Timothy: (Cuts in) Just stop both of you! Stop right now!
Uche: Daniel….Because what?
Timothy: I said stop! Now keep your mouth shut both of you and Let’s go!
They both did as Timothy said. Uche still worried and Daniel still sure they were all just seeing things that aren’t there. He was so sure of it because he knew what he had done to all of them.
*Flashback*
Friday, 6:45pm
Daniel: psst.. psst Temmy….Temmy….Come here quick!
Temmy: Hey DannyLove! What is it?
Daniel: How are you? I hear you guys are cooking jollof rice abi?
Temmy: Yes! Moji and I, plus two other girls sha! Why? are you hungry? I will give you double portion!
Daniel: Oh! Thanks! But not just that. I need you to do something for me and you must not tell anyone!
Temmy: Anything for you ma love!
Brought out a plastic bag with Some contents in it.
Daniel: I need you to add this inside the jollof rice.
Temmy: DannyLove! Hope you’re not trying to get people killed!
Daniel: No no no… Far from it! In fact! I’m trying to make people come alive. When we all eat this thing with the rice! We’ll all be “Alright ” .. If you know what i mean.
Temmy: Hahahaha…. Okay then I’ll do it. Let me quickly go and add it, the rice is almost done.
Daniel: (Smiles ) That’s why you’re my favorite girl in the whole of this school.
Temmy: (blushes ) Hmmmmm.

Tobi: I’m so hungry right now i can eat a horse!
Kc: (Faces Helen ) This guy too like food ehn….
But Helen wasn’t listening, she was lost in thought. She shouldn’t have deserted her friends like that , she knows but she couldn’t stand walking around the forest in the dark looking for people that have probably ran home.
She’s scared. The boys by her side just talk and talk all the time.
Helen: Do you talkatives have any idea where you’re going??
Kc: Yes! I remember this is the route we took when the bus drove us in.
Tobi: Guys…. What is that?
Helen: (startled ) Oh my God! What??
Tobi: That tree!!
Kc: What tree?!
Tobi: That same tree, is that not the same tree we were facing when Lanre and Mary came to join us?
Kc: They must look the same, we left that place over 5 mins ago!
Tobi: But….
Kc: But Nothing! This is a forest and all trees look the same!
Tobi: hmmm…. Okay
They kept walking, silently this time. Each lost in thought.
Tobi was so hungry, he started visualizing a plate of Jollof rice in his mind.
Tobi: Emmm…. Guys, i have a serious question to ask you..
Kc: Ask….
Tobi: Helen, can i ask?
Helen: Just ask your question!
Tobi: It has been bothering my mind for years! In fact, i don’t know what to do. I have asked google but found no answer!
Kc: What is it?
Tobi: Hmmm…. It’s very serious
Helen: We’re listening
Tobi: You can’t tell anyone about the question o. Like i said, It’s been bothering my mind.
Kc: Just ask already!
Tobi: Emmm..My question is .. That green leaf inside Jollof rice, is it meant to be eaten?
They all started laughing, all three of them. It felt really good to laugh and loose up a bit.
Helen looked up, she saw the tree again, the exact same one, no difference at all, everything in place.
Helen: Tobi, Kc… is that the same tree?
Now they stopped laughing as they all looked at the tree they had seen, few minutes ago.
Tobi: I don’t understand! These trees don’t just look alike, they are the same.
Helen: But….what are you saying? Have we been walking in circles.
KC: No! We’ve been walking straight , we haven’t turn or curve a bend at all.
Tobi: We’ve been walking and still end up in the same spot! This is nuts!
Kc: Look!! That’s Lanre’s footprint! He stamped his foot on the ground when we were both arguing about leaving or looking for the rest.
The all moved closer, looked at the shoe print on the ground.
Now they are really scared. They’ve been walking and still found themselves in the same spot!
The wind blew, the branches swayed and the bushes crackled like a burning flame. Fear gripped them all. All three of them dropped everything they were carrying and made a run for it in the same direction.
As they ran, the wind got stronger, blowing against them and resisting their movements. Kc grabbed Helen, pulling her behind him as they ran.
Tobi was in front, heaving and shoving leaves out his way. He stepped on something sharp, something painful that pierced the sole of his shoes.
He couldn’t stand the pain, his legs became wobbly and he fell to the ground.
Kc who was behind him, almost dodged as his friend fell to the ground but it was too late, he tripped and fell, pulling Helen down with him.
Helen reached the ground head first with an excruciating pain. Her movements were slow and weak but she looked around, there were blood everywhere.
Tobi’s head hit a stone as he fell. All Helen saw was blood gushing out from the center of his head..She Screamed in fear, seeing that the head was split in two like a watermelon.
Kc’s grip was still strong on her hands, she prayed he was okay as she looked at him….. but he wasn’t. He had fallen on a sharp stick which pierced his stomach and going out from his back! His eyes were opened but he was long gone already.
Helen started crying, trying to see if she had any injury. So she looked up and there it was….the tree. The exact same tree they had been seeing. Even as fast as they ran, they still ended up in the same spot again. That was when it became dawn on her they were never leaving this forest alive. They’ll all die.
She heard the footsteps approaching, she spun around on the ground, facing up and facing it.
The shadow stood over her, looking down, a large, long and sharp rod on his hands, she couldn’t scream, she didn’t even try to because she knew she was dead already!
The shadow bent over her, took her right leg and raised it up, leaving the other leg on the ground.
She cried, she wailed but it was of no use.
He raised her leg, are two feet further apart….. she pleaded…..
Helen: (crying) PLEASE…… please Don’t kill me……Help me! Please don’t kill me….
Shadow: (laughing ) i hear you like to have sex……
In a split second, the shadow raised the thick rod with a sharp end up. Helen saw it in the air as it came down.
With a force, he pushed the sharp rod right between her legs……
The pain was unlike anything she has ever felt before….. she winced, she gasped……. she took her last breath.
