Siena: While the wheels were rotating, he had time to notice a brake pad "pulling out"? How? The Vanagon has steel wheels, not alloys that may have large openings to render the brake caliper visible. So how could he spot a brake pad, within a brake caliper (behind a steel wheel) "pulling out"? (remember, this is a guy on a push-bike, trying to maintain balance, and avoid being knocked off his bike by a wayward danfo. And still managing to multi-task, and observe a brake pad "pulling out" from behind a rotating steel wheel? Coupled with the fact that van was travelling at about 25 - 30 mph (based upon the damage on impact).

This guy must have the eyes of a Barn Owl, able to spot the hour hand on a clock move from 3 metres. I need eyes like that!

Exactly. The bottles of stout / beer could have belonged to anyone in the Vanagon, or could have been amongst the general road litter. Either way, it can't be assumed the driver was swigging from those bottles. I'm not just picking at your journalism, this is just what I've observed to be the general trend with Nigerian reportage.

I could throw a blood-stained knife into your front garden, would it then be correct for the members of the NPF to bust into your home, to arrest you on suspicion of murder? Bearing in mind, there hasn't been a body found, heck, the blood-stained knife could have been used to slaughter the pig that's been providing myself and my family with pork for the last couple of days.

The eye witness was a mechanic,he was ryding his bicycle while the danfo drove pass him and he noticed when the brake pad pulled out,and for the bottles that were found at the scene was from the danfo bus.the question that come to mind is this,can the a passenger be travelling with 3. Empty bottles of guiness stout? And in other way it could be so.the picture were not taken to prove the cause of the accident,they were taken for people to see d accident scene.

Another issue very common with Nigerian reporting - reporters, both amateur and professional have the odd habit of focusing on empty alcohol bottles at the scene of an RTA. How do beer or other bottles of alcohol correlate to the cause of an accident? How can they determine the driver was drinking from those bottles?

Those bottles could well have belonged to any of the passengers, or even been lying around beside the road. It's not like Nigeria takes pride in her surroundings, and so is free of litter.

This accident happens around 8.40am this morning.The vanagon bus ran to the other mazda bus.
An eye witness said the brake pad of the vanagon pulled out and lost control,thank God their was a little traffic on the road as at that time,the accident would have been more serious.Their was no casualty,but some passengers sustain injury.
