The South Korean Automaker Hyundai has introduced its all-new 2020 Hyundai Sonata. It was unveiled at the just concluded New York international Auto Show.

Hyundai Sonata remains the longest-standing and most successful Hyundai in North America.

This 2020 Hyundai Sonata that fell under the 8th generation has no resemblance with its predecessors; it looks entirely different.

This Sonata came with Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy, an all-new Smartstream G2.5 GDI engine and segment-first technology that can be personalized.

According to Hyundai automaker, the production of this Sonata will kick off in September at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and retails follows up in October.

“Sonata is our signature product,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, product, corporate and digital planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Having been one of our first and most successful nameplates, Sonata is our legacy, and it needs to be special and memorable in all attributes. Sonata signifies our vision for future Hyundai designs, great active safety systems and cutting-edge technology that is effortless.”

We at Autojosh have to acknowledge they did justice to this car’s exterior design. We can’t help but mention that the front looks like an Audi and the rear look like an Aston Martin.

A newly designed Digital Pulse Cascading Grille; distinctive and innovative new lighting architecture; LED Daytime Running Lights embedded with Hidden Lighting Lamps; the trunk spoiler and some other exterior features suggest Hyundai did a nice job.

The 2020 Sonata gives customers the option of choosing between their two Smartstream gasoline powertrains: a 2.5 GDI and a 1.6 T-GDI engine. The both engines are fitted to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new smartstream 2.5 GDI engine produces 191 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 181 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. This engine has a fuel economy of 33 mpg. Meanwhile, the new Smartstream 1.6 T-GDI produces 180 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. of torque at 1500–4500 rpm. This engine has a fuel economy of 31 mpg combined, thanks to its world-first Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) system.

The 2020 Hyundai sonata supports Hyundai Digital Key via a dedicated smartphone app. Hyundai Digital Key utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which exhibits a high level of security. The NFC wireless data communication takes place only when the device and the reader are within several centimeters of each other. The Hyundai Digital Key app also allows smartphones to control selected vehicle systems remotely.

When it comes to safety, the new Sonata maximizes occupant safety through a range of active and passive safety technologies. Passengers benefit from a comprehensive nine-airbag set-up, while a sophisticated Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) works to alert drivers to things they might miss while driving.

An Uber driver took to Twitter to share his encounter with a lady he helped. According to his tweet, the lady forgot her purse that contained ₦25,000 and her international passport stamped with American visa.

He alleged he drove back to where he dropped the lady to give her back the things she forgot. He claimed the lady gave her just N500 after all he has done for her.

He wrote;

Today a lady forgot her purse in my car, there was N25,000 and an international passport that had an American visa in it.
I drove back to her house to return it and she gave me a N500 tip. Some people are just so ungrateful.

The issuance of the Nigeria Passport with 10-year validity has begun,

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) started issuing it on Monday.

The 64-page passport is produced with enhanced polycarbonate. It is also embedded with the National Identity Number.

The new passport costs N70,000.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari launched the new passport on January 15, 2019.

The new document is part of the passport reform approved by the Federal Government to improve the quality and security of the travel document as well as reduce the incidence of damage, counterfeit, and forgery.

According to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), it is compulsory for passport applicants to have the Nigeria Identification Number (NIN). To achieve that, the management of NIS had set up a desk at the passport office where individuals could register for NIN.

According to the NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI Sunday James, “The National Identity Number is compulsory for all applicants of the new document. To make it easy for applicants, the Nigeria Immigration Service has provided space for the National Identity Management Commission at the service headquarters, Abuja to register applicants and issue to them the NIN.

“The public are advised not to rush for the new booklet as the new enhanced passport will run concurrently with the old one.”

The NIS spokesman further said applicants holding passports with more than six months validity are not eligible for the new booklet except in the case of damage, change of data and those whose booklets were exhausted.

James advised applicants to pay online or directly to the banks situated within the passport offices; he also advised them against patronising touts “as all the service windows are equipped to meet their needs.”

He added that the Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, had directed passport offices at state commands to continue to issue the old booklet while the service headquarters Abuja would issue the new passport.

According to a Twitter user whose handle is @ovieali, these armoured military vehicles were all manufactured by a Nigerian company in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.

She made a tweet about the indigenous armoured vehicles and it got various reactions including that out some celebrities like comedian Alibaba and Falz.

In the video, an autonomous BMW 7 series car was going through a deserted and scary path when a ghost blocked its way. The car stopped and the ghost approached the car. When it opened the car to attack the driver, it met no driver on the driver seat. The ghost fled the scene in fear.

4. Whiplash Protection System (1998):
It was focused on reducing low speed collision injury. The system consists of a very robust headrest close to the occupant’s head and a clever seat design that gives uniform support in a collision.

7. Blind Spot Information System (2003):

BLIS system uses cameras and radar to watch for vehicles alongside and offset to the rear of the Volvo. When a car enters the blind spot area, a warning lamp comes on near the door mirror, giving the driver ample time to react.

City Safety system uses laser detection to work out whether a collision with the car in front is likely, and if the driver doesn’t brake, the car will do it. And the system works up to 50km/h.

This feature warns a driver if somebody steps out in front of the car, and then brakes automatically if the driver fails to.

Do you know you can actually use going uphill to test the well-being of a car?

It's is not every car you see moving comfortably on a level road or downhill that can make it uphill, especially the steep one. For example, some commercial buses will overtake you like flash when going downhill but when it's time to go uphill, they start to look for who will push them from behind.

This tells you that the engine and many other major components have to work extra hard to take a car uphill. The force of gravity acting against a car moving uphill is much and at such, the car should be healthy enough to overcome it.

Faulty components in a car can make it very hard for the car to keep up in a steep or inclined road. Even when you push the throttle hard to accelerate the more, you won't get a befitting response from the car.

There are various reasons why your car would struggle going uphill. You need to pay attention to them and sort out the issue if you need your car to function optimally especially going uphill.

1. Bad or failing fuel filter:
If every other component is working fine and you have a bad or failing fuel filer, it will jeopardize the the smooth working of your car. It may cause your car struggle while going uphill. 



2. Clogged Exhaust:
In the exhaust system, you'll find the catalytic converter and the muffler. When either of the two get clogged, it will restrain the engine from breathing well which will cost its performance.

The engine power and acceleration will surely be limited. You may not notice this much when driving on a normal level road. It will be much pronounced when going uphill.



3. Clogged or bad Air filter:
The air filter plays a crucial role when it comes to combustion engines. Clogged air filter will restrict the right proportion of air needed by the engine. At such, clogged or bad air filter can make the car not to breathe as it should. This will compromise the power of the engine and hence, not be able to easily make it uphill. 



4.Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor:
The Camshaft Position Sensor calculates the camshaft speed and transmits this information to the electronic control module. That way, the engine control module can manage the ignition timing and fuel injection timing properly.

But if you were to have a faulty camshaft position sensor, then the timing on these two would be off. This would limit the engine’s power considerably and certainly make it harder to drive the vehicle up a hill.



5. Bad spark plugs:
Spark plugs provide the sparks needed in the engine compression chamber. Having  bad spark plugs can make the engine not to perform optimally. It can make the car struggle while trying to make it uphill.



6. Low Cylinder Compression:
High cylinder compression is critical for giving the engine enough power to get the vehicle up a hill. Low cylinder compression will make your vehicle always struggle when going uphill. The engine power won’t be strong enough to push it up there.

There are times when you would want to shift your automatic gear lever from park (P) to other positions but it wouldn't move. It just seems the lever is stuck in that park position.

The lever may not shift even after applying more pressure to it.

When you find yourself in this condition, don't force it. There are procedures you can follow to get you out of the situation.

One of the reasons why the gear selector won't move is because the shifter is locked. Another reason it won't move is if the shifter cable is broken.

Your automatic gear selector can get locked sometimes but there is an easy way to get it fixed when the problem is locked selector.

Follow these simple steps to use shift lock release when the gear selector isn’t shifting.


1. First thing is to engage the parking brake,
2. Remove the key from ignition.
3. Find the shifter lock override slot. This is usually close to the lever plugged with a plastic cap.
4. Remove the plastic cap and push down the button inside the slot. This can be done with a flat-head screwdriver or any other pointed object.
5. As you're pushing down the override button, step on the brake pedal and move the shifter away from the park (P) position usually into neutral (N) position. 

The lock shifter button will also come handy if you need to push a car especially when the key is not available to turn on the ignition. However, this button is not available in every car.

I know what you are thinking, “why would snakes want to come near my car if its not sent by my village people” ��.
Snakes, would end up in any part of your car, either because you carelessly left the door or window open, or because they need heat.
Snakes and most reptiles are cold blooded animals, they can’t regulate their internal temperature, so they always seek for heat sources, to “recharge” themselves, mostly for activities like digestion.

Enough of the biology class, lets shift back to safety tips to prevent snakes from entering your car.

1. Always park your car far away from bushes
2. Keep your windows and doors, including your bonnet and boot closed at all times
3. When driving and you see a snake ahead of you, avoid it if you can, because the tyres can roll it up and it might find its way into the engine, or inside the car.
4. If you are going to park your car for a long time, make sure you cover it properly,in a cool and shaded place.
5. If you have a broken head or tail light, fix it!

You don't have to be a mind reader to tell what's going on in the minds of people who just bought a car. Every car buyer I've come across is particular about what they can do to make their car look more beautiful. The tender loving care can be as simple as buying a nice sticker or as major as a complete retrofit. Whichever it is, they hit the internet to make searches and hit the stores to make purchases.

If wanting our newly purchased cars to look more appealing was a crime, every Nigerian would have been a criminal. Eventually, the appetite for these upgrades starts to decline shortly after you start using the car.

Just last week, an elderly man who is about 70 years old was saying he wanted the car he was about to buy to have all the lovely perks. He said he wants to use the car to showcase what he's worth since he can't be carrying all his houses around town.. Lol

Today, Autojosh.com is talking about few things that can covertly or overtly make a difference in a car.



1. Wheels
Wheels can really make or mar a car. It can really redefine the looks of a car by changing it from basic to OMG! Some car lovers pay so much attention to the wheels on a car same way others pay attention to the shoes on people's feet. If you are asked to choose between having wheel covers or alloy wheels on your car, which would you prefer? Also tell us the wheel you prefer in the picture below.

2. Display Screen
Touch screen, reverse camera, navigation and DVD. Who doesn't want one in his/her car? Some of us even spend as much as ₦50,000 - ₦100,000 or even more to install these things in our cars. If possible, it's better to buy a car that comes with a factory fitted display screen or you buy the original screen if you have to install one. A fake aftermarket product can have glitches or tacky graphics.

3. Spoilers
This device gives aerodynamic benefits to cars by spoiling the flow of unfavourable air around the car. Originally used in race and performance cars to reduce drag, spoilers have also found their way to our daily regular cars creating stylish visual appeal in addition to its core function. Some of us like to buy a spoiler and stick it on the boot of our car if it didn't come with the car.

4. Colour and Paint Job
The colour of a car can make a whole lot of difference. Car colour preference do vary from one person to another, however, there are some car colours that should rather be left unexplored. To make a car look more attractive, you may decide to change the colour, respray with the same colour, wrap it, buff it etc. Whichever you want to do, don't employ the service of a rookie because finishing is key. In some cases, all the car needs is just a wash.

5. Interior Colour
One place you spend most of the time with your car is the passenger cabin. Therefore, the inside has to suit your taste. Some people prefer black fabric interior because of the kids while some others prefer to go red or brown leather. Your decision about the interior colour is better taken before you pay for the car.

6. Daytime Running Light
You know there is this unusual beauty cars do have when coming from a distance with their headlights on. Some drivers will go to any length to have that. Some people even deliberately turn on the headlights of their cars and forget to turn them off when they get to their destination making the closest battery charger ₦500 richer.



7. LED Lights and Other Lights
These lights range from LEDs head and tail lights to off-road flood lights, ambient lights, emblem light, neon light etc.

8. Tinted Windows
Tinted windows are amazing but excessive tint can be ugly and disastrous especially those nylon tint that you have to create a hole to see the side mirrors. Nylon tint can also put you in trouble with the police so it's better you have the factory one.. and don't forget to have your tint permit. Alternatively, you can also use sunshades.



9. Stickers, Badges and Decals
If you think it's only the guys that are guilty of wanting their cars look more appealing, well, that's not true. The ladies are also particular about having some nice and colorful stickers on their cars. Even some mothers want the "Baby On Board" sticker on their cars for its beauty over its function. Don't overdo the stickers. If you have a Ferrari or AMG badge on your Toyota Corolla, we beg you to remove it. You can change it to Nigerian flag, logo of your favourite football club, etc.



10. Some Chrome Accents
When it comes to chrome, less is more. The more you try to impress, the more you mess up the car. Don't be like the owner of this Nissan Titan below.

The governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, earlier today, took to his Twitter handle to commend President Buhari for giving his approval for the reconstruction of the Oworonshoki-Apapa expressway.

The message on the Governor’s twitter handle goes thus:
