A lot of things have changed since you were last in russia
From the gist I hear from people there, there has been a lot of reform and laws passed that give clear pathway to permanent residency to postgraduate students with good grades.

I'm just saying
And the school I chose, they are generous with scholarships though I dont have that in mind
Passing preparatory class slashes your fees by 50% already, then getting the quota scholarships cancel your fees in totality

At the end of the day
One will not spend more than 7m to 8m max on living expenses plus school fees
Depending on the scholarship one get
The total expense may even be much less
The current education ministry is enticing international students to at least stay for a few more years, and to be very honest, I wont mind a post doctoral fellowship in the country
I have an open mind to these things
It's to see how things pan out

The issue of having limited opportunities in Russia is true to some extent. However, sponsoring yourself through school in any part of the developed world is a very difficult task.As a student,how person wan take pay £15k for UK with 20hrs work per week?If u don't have enough home support choose Moscow you will definitely survive here.Ofcourse,even in Moscow you may not be able to carry the financial burden of everybody in your family as a student,its not ur fault because a student in the 'almighty' USA and Canada can not carry the financial burden of his/her family.

What you just wrote about britain and the likes is precisely what I was thinking when I chose russia.
A critical assessment of my situation showed that i can see my program through without having to do much work in moscow
Compared to Britain
£15k pounds will see my program In moscow fringe beginning to end
Though I dont have it, was just making mention of your example.
In life
One has to be practical
And thank God once again
That I dont have to carry burden
It's just me
However I'll like to ask a quick question
I'm assuming that $3600 can take me for a year in living expenses in Moscow (this is independent of school fees anyways)

How much will one rather estimate

I'm currently working on getting post graduate admissions in one of the best schools in the country
I'm a language enthusiast who already speak three international languages
I want to use one stone to kill many birds at once
Learn the language, gain good experience, good education, all that

And the best thing is that I do not have people looking up to me to send money and all that (a situation many Nigerian young men face, and put then under undue pressure)
So it's a good fit for me
But its not for everyone sha
If your circumstance is such that you are from a disadvantaged home, you managed to dig your way out and many others are looking up to you
It's understandable that this journey is not for such person

First, the schools are insisting I upload my transcripts on my personal page, and from my experience with transcripts, it is sent directly to the school not individuals

Second, they are also insisting I "legalise" and notarize my certificate and transcripts, translated to russian

For those who have passed through this phase, how do I go about it?
Must I go to Abuja for this ?

I feel that at the end of the day, it's all boils down to what people want
Some schools in the russian federation will give you quality education that can kick start your career in a decent manner in many parts of the world...
So for one seeking a bargain for quality education, I think n russia is a good fit
However, I know Nigerians very well...
Just like you said
For a good number of Nigerians, it is all about where can I go to pack money.
They dont even care about the education or even what they are learning, or the cultural and international experience while studying....
Its all about where can I go and pack money and build village house or drive expensive car when I get back to naija
In the first place many of our people are even using the study route as a decoy to jaapa and hustle, then abandoning the program (its happening in some of these European countries already)
So for people like that it's in their best interest to steer clear from Russia.

That's just my opinion anyways
