Igwe Patrick Eze (Waziri) blasts Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka for his new year message that President Goodluck Jonathan is a bad luck to Nigerians and should forget re-election for his poor perfomance

It seems it has not been yet over Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka’s new year message saying that President Goodluck Jonathan is a bad luck to Nigerians and should forget re-election for lack of performance.

On a recent interview with Igwe Patrick Eze (Waziri,The traditional ruler of Egali Amalla autonomous community in Udenu local government area of Enugu State,said Mbaka remained a politician in the cassock. .

“It is better for Mbaka to join politics, contest election to have a taste of power other than calling people names, asking the president to resign. Who actually made Fr.

The crisis in the Enugu State PDP sector worsened on Sunday as several senatorial candidates emerged in parallel primaries in the state.

Three separate primaries in the Enugu East Senatorial Zone saw the emergence of three senatorial candidates, namely the incumbent Senator, Senator Gil Nnaji, former Chief of Staff to Governor Sullivan Chime, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo; and a former Minister of Information, Mr. Frank Nweke Jnr.

The primary election, which produced Nwobodo, held amid tight security at the Rangers International Stadium, Enugu, while the primaries that were won by Nnaji and Nweke Jnr. took place at Nkwo Nike and Ozalla, respectively.

There were also unconfirmed reports that another aspirant, the chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Nwabueze Okoye, emerged from another primary in the senatorial zone.

A similar scenario played out in Enugu North Senatorial Zone, where parallel primaries were contested by aspirants including the former Commissioner for Transport, Chuka Utazi, who is said to enjoy Chime’s backing, and a former national chairman of the PDP, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo.

Although, results from the primaries in the zone were being awaited, it was gathered that Utazi won the primary he participated in, while Nwodo is expected to win the other exercise.

Ike Ekweremadu duly picked up the party’s ticket for the Enugu West Senatorial Zone after emerging unopposed following Chime’s withdrawal from the race.

Even though, he was the sole candidate, voting still took place, with Ekweremadu receiving 294 vote out of the 299 delegates accredited for the exercise,The votes of the five remaining delegates were declared invalid as a result of irregularities.

Bad blood generated from the battle between Chime and Ekweremadu over the ticket for the Enugu West Senatorial Zone was threatening to destroy the PDP in Enugu State until Chime surprisingly withdrew at the last minute.

Vanguard newspaper was missing from the newsstands in Enugu yesterday following the blanket
purchase of yesterday’s edition of the newspaper meant for circulation in the Coal City State.

It was that the entire stock of the newspaper meant for circulation
in the city were bought allegedly by alleged agents of the state government.

The action of the authorities in the state was apparently linked to a news feature published yesterday entitled, Enugu 2015: The debacle of parallel leadership.

The story was a focus on the recent travails of the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Governor Sullivan Chime arising from that faction’s failure to participate in the November 1, 2014 ward congresses of the party organised by the Elder David Aja-
led leadership of the party. The development in the party, according to the feature piece has led to doubts on the prospects of 2015 election aspirants affiliated to the governor.The seemingly provocative article which was a review of the developments in the state was, however, stopped from
mass circulation with the forced purchase of the edition from the newspaper distributors.
