EducationJAMB To Suspend NIN Requirement For UTME Registration 2020 by Avallon002(op): 6:20pm On Nov 23, 2019
Nigeria Federal House of Representatives calls on Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB To Suspend NIN Requirement for UTME Registration 2020.

JAMB had earlier made the National Identification Number (NIN) as a requirement for all candidates intending to register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2020.

This was as a result of a motion presented by Zainab Gimba (APC, Borno) who called on JAMB to review the policy on the use of NIN for prospective applicants until 2021.

According to her, it was necessary for JAMB to review the timeline pending the establishment of more enrolment centres by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) across the country.

She went on to state that although many Nigerians turned out to be captured by NIMC, most have not been able to do so due to infrastructural challenges like poor network, power failure, no power supply and sometimes inadequate manpower or equipment to attend to them. she mentioned that an official of NIMC recently disclosed that less than 20 percent of Nigerians are captured in their database.

The lawmaker urged the board to extend the use of the national ID “in order to allow more time and better awareness for prospective candidates as many prospective candidates from remote locations in the country may not be able to register for the UTME due to non-registration with the NIMC.

In conclusion, she suggested that JAMB should collaborate more with NIMC, states and local governments for efficient registration of its prospective candidates.

EducationEffective Study Guides To Pass Any Exam In Nigeria by Avallon002(op): 8:23am On Nov 22, 2019
I will be very correct to say there isn’t a student in the world that hasn’t had to struggle with studying. Especially for an important exam or quiz, studying is almost a form of punishment they must carry out accordingly assist them to pass successfully. In this post we shall be covering 5 study guides to pass any exam.]

Have The Right Mindset When You Want to Study
According to research ‘how’ you approach things matters almost as much as what you do. Having the right mindset is important in helping you study smarter and more effectively. Too many people see studying as a task or some form of punishment rather than an opportunity to learn and better themselves. You can think of it this way: people say intelligence is sexy right? Well studying is one of the easiest ways to build that intelligence.

Have a Game Plan
This means understanding what you have to study (in terms of quantity and complexity) and executing a game plan to help you cover all you have to study adequately and in good time, without giving yourself a headache trying to cram it all the night before.

Learn to Rest
Taking a rest is just as important as studying, only be careful not to overdo it or be too excessive with it. The mind works better when you take breaks every half an hour to an hour. It will help you absorb the information and decompress to help your mind feel free for more studying. Studying for hours unending can give you a headache or make you sleep off. You can take breaks by moving around, eating, rewarding yourself by watching a short video or talking to study partners.

Engage Different Study Methods
This is to make out a strategy that works for you. However, if you’re comfortable with using one study method alone, then please do so. You can try using flashcards, mnemonic devices, rewriting your notes, jotting down study points, taking practice exams or doing past questions, studying with study partners or even creating a study game as some of the study methods you can employ.

Be Sensible of Your Study Environment
You shouldn’t study in the wrong places that isn’t conducive or is too distracting for you. Some people can study with music and some need absolute quiet. Understand the environment conducive for you and opt for such environments when you study.

EducationTop High Paying Skills For Students In Nigeria by Avallon002(op): 10:25pm On Nov 19, 2019
The need for acquisition of skills as an undergraduate in a country like Nigeria where poverty and unemployment rate is high cannot be over overemphasized.

It is highly unsuitable that the Nigerian education system does not put much interest and make room for talent identification, development and skill acquisition. In a situation where there is no availability of white collar jobs therefore, one has to make good use of a skill to earn a living.

Every student should plan ahead and ensure that while they are still in school, they should make out time acquire a skill or two in addition to their school certificates as certificate alone is not enough in the Nigeria of today.

There are so many high paying vocational skills and most in-demand in Nigeria that can earn you more money than a degree certificates if you are willing any vocational skill a trial. One can be making good from money from most of these skills while still in school.

Here are some of the high paying skills and most in-demand in Nigeria

Beauty Services: There is rise in demand for beauty services in Nigeria on daily basis. Young men and women have taken it to another level in the industry by becoming big time employers and owners of big beauty brands.

This industry has grown and is still moving forward with great opportunities especially for people who wish to be self-employed.

Web Developments and Services: When we speak about web development, we tend to mistakenly think it is just creating website which is more than that. It means creating online solutions, maintaining websites, security testing and web based applications and more.

Alot of money is made on web development and services as there are lesser number of experts in this field currently in Nigeria compared to other skills. Businesses are also making efforts to create online presence and awareness about their businesses so as to improve marketing and services.

Manufacturing Skills: People acquiring vocational skills in the manufacturing trade are often hired to pass on the knowledge to another set of people or to work in manufacturing agencies.

Some of them have been able to manufacture their own products for sale. Products manufactured include liquid soaps, bar soaps, ointments, balm, detergents, disinfectants and stain removers.

Fashion Designing & Tailoring skills: The fashion industry is yet another industry with a very high demand rate that has helped many Nigerian youth escape poverty due to the high rate of unemployment.

Good fashion designers in Nigeria today are making reasonable income from their services. The driving force here is passion. Under six to twelve months, people who are passionate about fashion are able to acquire enough skill to help them start up their own tailoring shops and fashion lines.

Undergraduates please note: Setting out to make money while in school without proper time management, might affect your academic performance. So it is advised you create a proper timetable to guide you.

EducationEffective Ways To Make Money As A Student In Nigeria by Avallon002(op): 1:38pm On Nov 17, 2019
Hey reader, good to have you here today. I guess you are here because you are looking for an effective way to make money as a student in Nigeria so you can be able to sort out your school and personal expenses.

Please Note: Setting out out to make money while in school without proper time management, might affect your academic performance. I believe you don’t want your classmates to graduate, leaving you behind while you rewrite your carry-overs. And you certainly don’t want to fail out of school.

In this article I will be sharing with you effective legitimate ways to make money even as a student in Nigeria.

Effective Ways to Make Money as Student in Nigeria

Sell your Skill
What ever skill you have can be a great source of income for you. Whether you can play musical instruments or you are good in artistic drawing or you are a great writer and so on. You just have to market yourself.

A simple notice printed on an A4 paper with details of the services you offer and how you could be contacted is enough to get you clients when pasted in strategic positions around campus.
You can as well proceed to sell your services online on sites like Jiji, fiverr, olx etc.

Selling of Wears
These days most students on campus love to look trendy and therefore buy cloths, foot wears, handbags, jewelries and other body accessories always.

If you can get these wears and accessories in bulk at reduced price from big suppliers, you will surely make much money from the business.

Production of Detergents and Disinfectants
Especially for Home Economics students, they can apply practical knowledge of what they learn in school to make money though any one with the right knowledge or wish to learn can still venture in this. Making and selling liquid, powdered or bar soaps. They can also make and sell disinfectants, air fresheners, perfumes, body lotions etc.

Cable Tv installation and Maintenance
Almost every student now own and enjoy cable television but very few persons know how to make little adjustments or maintenance on it (services are not just to students alone but includes people living around the school area). There is surely a big market here and the good news is it doesn’t take much to learn and costs next to nothing to start up.

“We enjoin members of the public to go about their lawful businesses and to be law-abiding.”
