Troops of Operation Enduring Peace mounted a rapid response operation in the early hours of May 12 after armed attackers stormed Vwang Kagot community in Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

Working in coordination with Keystone Kuru Division, Nigerian troops swiftly engaged the assailants and forced them to retreat from the area before further destruction could occur. Although two civilians tragically lost their lives before security forces arrived, troops immediately launched clearance and pursuit operations while intensifying surveillance and patrols across surrounding communities.

The sustained response highlights the Nigerian military’s continued commitment to protecting vulnerable communities, stabilising Plateau State and denying violent criminal elements freedom of action.

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace swiftly repelled an armed attack on Vwang Kagot community in Jos South LGA of Plateau State after responding to distress calls in the early hours of May 12.


Working alongside Keystone Kuru Division, Nigerian troops forced the attackers to retreat and immediately launched clearance and pursuit operations across the area. Although two civilians were killed before the troops’ arrival, security forces have since intensified patrols, surveillance and community protection measures to prevent further attacks and restore stability within vulnerable communities across Plateau State.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria continued to demonstrate strong operational momentum across all theatres between April 30 and May 7, 2026, recording major successes against terrorists, kidnappers, gunrunners and criminal networks nationwide.

Operations under HADIN KAI, FANSAN YAMMA, WHIRL STROKE, ENDURING PEACE, DELTA SAFE, SAVANNAH SHIELD and UDO KA led to the neutralisation of terrorists, rescue of kidnapped civilians, recovery of illegal weapons, disruption of criminal logistics networks and dismantling of illegal arms manufacturing sites.

From the North East to the South South, Nigerian troops sustained coordinated land and air operations while reinforcing national stability and civilian protection. These operations continue to reflect the professionalism, sacrifice and operational resilience of the Nigerian military in confronting evolving security threats across the country.

On May 3, at approximately 12:43 a.m., troops from the 195 Battalion (Reinforced) successfully rescued five kidnap victims along the Okpella–Okene Road in Kogi State.

​Summary of the Operation
​The Incident: After receiving a distress call during a routine patrol, soldiers pursued kidnappers who had attacked a vehicle and abducted its occupants.

​The Outcome: Under intense tactical pressure from the troops, the criminals abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding bush.

​Victim Status: All five victims were recovered. Two sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the ENAW Dialysis Centre, while the remaining three were stabilized.

​Next Steps: Security forces are currently conducting follow-up operations to track down the suspects and enhance safety along the transit axis.
