Health / Re: Severe Internal Headache by aviva: 11:59am On Nov 17, 2010
Hi,
This could be due to high blood pressure, vision (eye) problems or high cholesterol.
Dehydration (lack of fluid intake) can also cause headaches as well as severe stress or constant tiredness and lack of sleep.
Check your blood pressure and have eye check.
Make sure you rest enough and drink plenty of water.
You can take Paracetamol tablets (2 tablets of 500 mg each) every 4-6 hours but no more than 4 times during 24 hours.
Hope this helps.

Health / Re: Heart Condition? by aviva: 2:10am On Nov 17, 2010
Hi,
I work in Intensive Care Units in London as a specialist nurse.
So, I will offer my opinion.
I can not make a detailed assessment on you as I have not seen you and do not know your age group and past medical history of you or your family, so can not make a diagnosis.
However, your symptoms are most likely to indicate a cardiac condition (heart problem).
As you know there are so many heart problems including valve issues.
The first and urgent thing you need to do is 12-lead ECG (electrocardiogram)!
Try to go to a good clinic as an experienced specialist will need to have a good look at your results.
Also, check the basics like your blood pressure.
Chest x-ray will not show anything in cardiac field apart from enlarged heart so it is useless for diagnosis of heart problems.
I could offer you so many investigations if you were here but it is difficult in Nigeria due to specialist equipment issues.
Please, do not delay and find the best health centre you can afford.
Hope you find this information useful.
Good luck.
Travel / Re: Alternative Routes To The Uk During Volcano Eruption? by aviva: 10:57am On Apr 20, 2010
Thanks for this information.
I think yes the only thing is to remain patient.
The British government advised today to make your way to Madrid as they are organising transport from Madrid airport to the UK.
But my husband will need a Spanish visa so it is a bit complicated.
We will rest everything in the hands of almighty God.
Travel / Alternative Routes To The Uk During Volcano Eruption? by aviva: 11:33pm On Apr 19, 2010
Hello,
Please, does anyone know any companies that take passengers to the UK (preferably London) by sea from Port Harcourt or Lagos? Or any other possible routes to come back? I have googled it but got no data except from goods' shipping companies.
The situation with volcanic ash is getting only worse and it is a serious question now how to come back.
I greatly appreciate any information.
Thanks.
Travel / Re: Life As An Illegal Immigrant Abroad by aviva: 2:01am On Mar 23, 2010
Hi,
I have been reading posts on Nairaland for a long while now.
But have just registered as I really need to say something now.
I am a European and have been married to a Nigerian man for nearly twenty years.
We have four beautiful children.
We stay in Nigeria often and are planning to settle there finally.
I want to say that people who want to travel abroad don't know that they are actually loosing better life in exchange for looking for something that is just a dream.
We had years of hardship and tough life.
What you don't realise is that Nigeria is the paradise, you just have to find an opportunity and get a good education.
People don't pay taxes or bills.
If you are hungry you can still find food.
You can not become homeless.
Life abroad is survival of the fittest.
And not just for illegal immigrants. For all including us Europeans.
There is no gold or money you can come and pick up from the street. You work very hard every day just to pay your bills and eat.
Or you engage in rubbish and rot in jail, your life is finished.
People have to make Nigerian system better not travel looking for a dream.
I am a British citizen but would like to spend the rest of my life in Nigeria as I see the real difference and love Nigeria wholeheartedly.
