How does Dickson know the bill will favour Bayelsa? What is the consumption of Bayelsa like? Does he have the numbers? Bayelsa is the least populated state in Nigeria so he has to be sure what he's supporting is really in his state's interest. That's why I don't understand why the north are against the bill especially VAT derivation. I suspect they believe they are walking into a trap because of the lack of transparency in the derivation model. The present model favours states like Lagos. If the proposed model will run on consumption, it should favour Lagos and other highly populated northern states more since ordinarily, population should fuel consumption. So I still think what they want to see is the present consumption figures as tabulated by FIRS. I think that's what even Dickson should request for except if he already has the figures and it favours his state.

I'm a southerner and I'm against the bill. Don't make it about south vs north. The big problem with Nigeria is how we quickly tribalise issues without listening to the other side to know if their concerns are genuine or not.
The north have issues with VAT derivation. At least that seems to be the main thing they are fighting against. A lot of southern govs are also against the bill. So we should listen to all sides and be properly informed by asking the right questions instead of taking a position based on geographical location that does not add anything to you or the conversation.

If those regions were conduceive for those oil companies to stay,they surely will,I bet you were to young or wasn't even born when shell was head quartered in warri,delta and mobil was in eket,akwa ibom before hostilities from the locals drove them out..... dangote refinery was also initially billed to be sited in the niger delta before he ran away with his capital to Lagos.

You completely miss the point. A huge percentage of the vat paid in Lagos and Rivers state is still paid by the people You hate,the Igbos.A single importer pays more than 4m as vat on a 40 ft container

Make a research, igbo tribe are the people paying VAT in dose states remiting big VAT. Without igbo men in those states, nothing will be working in the said states. Take it or leave it, igbo man developed 50 percent of all the states in Nigeria.

I used to go to the port Harcourt tourist beach then, I really love PH, But Lagos is the only place you see real beach in Nigeria, beach in PH are like normal rivers, just tributes of river Niger, no real Atlantic waves


For example, here in Lagos, the wave 🌊 can go and come 5 times in 5mins but in PH, you can be at the beach 🏖️ all day without seeing the wave, the wave only come twice a day and you will only notice by the increase in the water level and not actually the water real wave, whenever we want to see anything wave, we have to pay speed boat 🚤 to take us far close to the Atlantic

Can you tell us what and what they took to Enugu that were supposed to be in Portharcourt? I mean apart from things that were supposed to be in a regional capital. Road? Hospitals? Schools? Industrial layouts? Banks? I mentioned things that you didnt know were built by MI Okparas regional government. Mention things that were built in other parts of the southwest by Awo, apart from Ibadan. Mention things that were built in Borno, Gboko or Lokoja by Ahmadu Bello.

The truth though was that resources were not big then and the regional government post independence, lasted for just 5 years plus. Go and read former governor Donald Duke of Cross River state. He has said a lot about Okparas achievements in agriculture. MI Okpara might be the best regional governor of the first republic. But how would you agree? Your worldview revolves around Awo and Awo alone.

History on the contrary informs that the industrial layout was the brain child of Lord Frederick Lugard and Lord Harcourt in 1912 but I am willing to learn if you can provide a credible link. Thanks.

Port Harcourt was out competing Lagos in commerce during the the days of regionalism. Abd this was the regional leaders in the east, primed the city for greater commerce.
Ports in Portharcourt were booming. Portharcourt was without contest, the commercial hub of the east.

Trans Amadi industrial Layout, Presidential Hotels and all that in Portharcourt, were built by MI Okpara. He started Obudu cattle ranch in Calabar. All these within 4 years, with cash from palm oil mainly grown in the hinterlands.

What do you guys want from the igbo man? Portharcourt was thriving more than Aba, Onitsha, Owerri and Umuahia. Enugu was doing good as an administrative center of the region, but the whole action was in PH.
What else do you want?
