Politics › Re: Why Are Calabar People More Than Ijaw In by AwkaFinest: 9:39pm On Mar 25, 2024 |
No doubt, after the natives; Igbos(those from SE, Abia and Imo especially) Akwa Ibomites are the majority in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor, Oyigbo, Ikwerre, and Bonny. They are the majority in Okrika and Ogu-Bolo.
The Ijaws have drastically reduced their birth rate and if things continue like this in years to come Igbos and Annangs/Ibibios will dominate Rivers State, especially PHC. |

Nigercity: I noticed that the Nigeria media, is always counting major part of rivers state as port Harcourt I.e onne, oyibo, etche e.t.c Anyone that has been to pH Will know that the difference between this places is like awka and onistha That's to say that many parts of Rivers State is developed. PHC today is made up of PHALGA, Obio-Akpor, Eleme, Ikwerre, Etche and Okrika LGAs. With the rate of current development, soon Oyigbo will be incorporated fully as PHC. Not to forget that Rivers is more than x2 the size of Enugu by landmass and PHC alone is almost 70% the size of Enugu State. |

Politics › Re: Army Recruitment: Northerners Arrested For Attempt To Take Lagos Slots by AwkaFinest: 9:58am On Jan 04, 2024 |
dickson2000: You're very correct but the honest truth is that, Lagosians do not really fancy Military jobs. Their turnout is always very low in military job applications and screenings.
I remember when I went for my final screening for 2015 Nigerian Army SSC in Kaduna. 24 candidates were selected from every state in Nigeria except for Lagos whose candidates were only 5. The commandant said only 7 people applied from Lagos and all were successful but only 5 turned up for screening. During the screening, one person even ran away because he was afraid as the process was rigorous.
So, I think people take advantage of the fact that Lagosians do not really like the profession to claim Lagos State of origin during application. Last time I checked the army was begging people from Rivers and Delta to apply. That these 2 states have the least applicants. Infact, besides Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers, the other 4 Niger Delta states always have the least number of applicants. |

Funny enough the slot for Rivers State is still wide open, even non natives can apply using Rivers, because Rivers people do not care about joining Nigeria military if it's not through NDA. |

Politics › Re: Traffic Offenders In 12 Nigerian States Pay N2.1bn Fines In 9 Months, Lagos Lead by AwkaFinest: 7:32am On Nov 27, 2023 |
FreeStuffsNG: It's interesting that the top 4 states are the Yoruba South West states. It could mean that there are more cars and vehicle transportation in the South West or traffic laws are better enforced in the South West more than other parts of Nigeria.
In my opinion, anyone who can afford to pay this huge fines could have saved this money and use it to improve his or her personal finances. Rising payment of fines is a sign of rising disposable income. Please drive safe and obey all the traffic laws.
As the yuletide period starts from next week, please let us not drink or get intoxicated and drive. The fines are necessary deterrent so let's comply.
Lagos State has invested a lot to enforce traffic laws yet most drivers don't obey. Before the cameras were installed, at night, people will drive right from Admiralty toll plaza to Bonny camp without stopping for once to obey the traffic lights and I keep wondering if those of us stopping are serving a punishment.
If you can't obey our Lagos state laws , including our traffic laws, please stay back in wherever you are because if you come to Lagos and break our laws, the law will take its course and no amount of blackmail that it's targeted against your tribe or non-Yoruba will work.
Please obey our Lagos state traffic laws and drive safe. God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs! And it could also be that people in the South West are lawless🤣🤣 |
