I am Somali. Why do so many on this forum insist that am related to them. They label me as either arab or bantu. I am somali.

bantu is not found in east africa . our languages are cushitic, and semetic in the horn. African americans are not from East Africa. Europeans during the times of slavery were afraid to go in horn africa cause it fell under the influence of muslims. Thats why christopher columbus sailed around the world inorder to avoid goin to india through the middle east.

so the fulani, where do they originaly hail from...their looks are compared to somalis from what i hear on nairaland. Are they muslim?

their are two types of weddings. wedding where their are only women present. these types of weddings are prefered by more religious somalis who dont want the oposite sexes to intermingle. then their are weddings where all people can attend. People dance, women and men can dance together. but its not like crazy dancing. no alchol ofcourse.

As for arranged wedding, they are rare in the diaspora community. But both parents of the would be bride and grooms have to accept the wedding. This is the reason the far majority of somalis dont intermix. because the groom, bride, both side of the parents have to agree for the wedding to be legit.

am here simply to express my hate for non somalis...

well somalis had those features before whites....somalis often dont come in contact with whites in somalia...so most of our derogotory words are for others that are in the region...i dont know why you people classify somalis as either bantu or arab.. we are our own people...we hate anyone who tries to take away our somaliness...lately its been arricans and american afrocentrics who thing somalis are their brothers and sisters...sadly they dont show this love for bantus only horn africans.

well they dont like anyone who doesnt look like them... if other african countries were homogenous they would understand where we comming from... look at china, japan they have the same view. its just in africa somalia is the only homogenous group. they want somali over everthing...if we push for pan africanism that means somaliness is being threatened... same thing when u africans see a black dating a white. u question whether the person has inferiroty complex.
