No one is above the law.

Where the suspect has state secrets, he could be tried in private as opposed to open court.

Furthermore, he is under oath not to reveal secrets acquired in the course of his duty.

Only in Nigeria would a criminal case be politicised.

Just deal with the man as any suspect in a criminal case and damn the consequence.

Politics / Re: We Will No Longer Guarantee Your Safety, Vacate Ijaw Communities Within 7days by ayobabas: 11:04am On Jul 21, 2015
UmuEri:
Ijaw communities give oil
multinationals 7 days to
vacate

Written by: Ebenezer Adurokiya-Warri
Ijaw communities of Diebiri, Egbema,
Gbaramatu, Iduwini, Ogbe-Ijoh, Ogulagha
and Kou kingdoms, in Delta State, have
given oil multinationals operating in their
territory seven days to vacate or face dire
consequences.

The Ijaw communities are hosts to flow-
stations and well heads operated by
Chevron Nigeria Ltd, Nigerian Petroleum
Development Company (NPDC), Neconde
Energy Ltd, Shell Development Petroleum
Company (SPDC) and Agip.

In a press release signed by Comrade Sherif
Mulade and 20 other representatives of the
Ijaw kingdom, made available to the
Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, in Warri, the
communities called on foreign embassies to
advise their nationals in the Ijaw territories
to vacate their personnel and contractors as
their safety would no longer be guaranteed.
The Ijaw communities also called on the
Delta State government to release N300
billion owed the Delta State Oil Producing
Development Commission (DESOPADEC)
meant for the development of the
communities.

According to the statement, the ongoing
hearing of the DESOPADEC amendment bill
at the state House of Assembly is a keg of
gunpowder with devastating consequences
if not discontinued.
“Having carefully and painstakingly studied
the executive bill at the floor of the Delta
State House of Assembly on the proposed
DESOPADEC Amendment Bill, we, in strong
terms, condemn and reject the bill in its
entirety as it seeks to rip us off of the 13 per
cent derivation fund given to the oil and gas
producing communities in the state.
“The bill is inimical to the principle of
derivation and insensitive to the
peculiarities of the oil-producing
communities.

“Therefore, we will not fold our arms and
watch the Delta State government to take
away our economic and political right by
way of politicising the 13 per cent derivation
fund meant to develop our communities
through DESOPADEC,” the statement read in
part.

my dear, i love this country more than you, i will die and be buried in my village, i know myself down to my roots... but i will not lie. there is no perfect country, but everybody is trying to head there while we are heading the other way... a lot have jumped ship, i didn't because i am optimistic the tide will change but with each passing year indices drop and i wonder...hmmmm
i never said anything about dis-criminalizing stealing or fraud...where did i say that? please dont quote me out of context...read properly then comment...
i said all retrieval of loot must go back... we need to clean stables from way back, from where we veered of the right track, we need to discuss our mistakes and reflect or else history will keep repeating itself as it is currently... no bad deed must go unpunished, criminals from the 60s who fled are still being apprehended by the law in so many other countries...why is ours different? why must only GEJ's name be in the media while other thieves are let go... our stolen money is in trillions not billions, wake up and realize you have been convinced to focus in one direction, the direction they (the stealing elite) want... towards their scapegoat, the so called jesus of otuoke...hahahaha

let us start from from the beginning, we need to probe everything and recover everything
while you're at it, remember to hustle and pay your taxes...remain patriotic cool

Your subterfuge is as confused as the noise made by a goat after the butcher's knife had sunk past the windpipe! If crimes allegedly committed 50 years ago are not probed, GEJ should not. To do so would be to make a scapegoat out of him!

PDP and GEJ's inhuman running of the country to the ground is a monument to greed and breach of faith.
Common-sense tells you that it is best to process a crime scene while it is fresh.
Even his former ministers are dissing him and co-operating to unearth the gravity and enormity of stealing that went on.

You want the government to lose focus and start digging from almost 60 years ago.
A sane man would not put two palm kernels in his mouth at the same time and attempt to chew them together.

The investigation and probe must be accomplished this time around otherwise future corrupt governments will cite being a scape-goat since GEJ's excesses were not probed. Your reasoning is not standard nor healthy to building a just and efficient country.

Hahaha... i dey my office dey laff una dey count my small earned change... so bitterness ko? I guess that taking responsibility is not your style... and if you have been dulling at work or ever given or taken a bribe in this country, you are complicit in getting us to were we are now, so don't act too holy like and start thinking wishfully about cleaning up. cleaning up requires serious effort and part of of it is knowing the full extent of filth and saying the truth as it is...not just shouting 'change!!!' and heaping all responsibility on poor buhari our new blame mascot while you waltz off not being aware of not paying taxes and other unknown crimes we commit on a daily basis which cant happen in other countries. More than 3/4 of the people in nigeria dont know what tax is... and if you hsvent paid tax, you have no stake in this country's wealth...simple... that is the filth and failure I'm talking about
... and i ask what is wrong with being bitter self? Its heartbreaking, just like it is evident on nairaland- when all the supposed youth, our leaders of tomorrow in this country are half baked, cant speak english and clueless about what real politics is rather than the banditry and party clubs we have here.
Wake up and be vigilant, tell yourself hard truths before you can start telling others... The change starts from you, not buhari

yeah yeah...there is it, the same tape 'GEJ is responsible for all our problems since 1970'... keep living in denial because you have the most media bashed president as scapegoat, the looting has been steady my friend since inception of this country and if you want to probe anybody, start from the beginning and stop cowardly saying 6yrs...who you dey fear beyond 6yrs? IBB? Abacha? abdulsalami? buhari? gowon? i guess thy're all formidable people in nigerian society and they are amongst the crowd of several other looters, including those shouting change or not... i guess abacha's loots that emerge from the woodwork every week are from holdings in nicaragua, or IBB cheesy cheesy cheesy...for IBB i dont need to say anything and obj who was in penury after jail probably had a well that he filled with money in the 70s or stella keep his grandfathers personal fortune for him and tinubu is a billionaire because he is smart or lagos state is his private property...think again, look beyond parties, call it tax payers' money and you will see how all your heros fare on that charge. thanks

Anyone reading your twisted logic about the way forward for Nigeria that you hate with copious venom will liken you to a time-bomb in the house!
On this counterpane, your hysteria over the massive outcry for GEJ and government to be hung out to dry out the milking of Nigeria from them paints you as avid GEJ supporter who is prepared to rake any stale argument to avert his just dessert.

If some thieves slipped past the net before, Nigerians are now wiser and will deal with public looters viciously - beginning of course with the immediate past government of GEJ!

guy, i am not exactly young and i have live much more beyond the last 16yrs to know that parties are not responsible for where we are now, and it has been the same names revolving over and over again... you guys see everything through the eyes of party versus party while in actual fact its just a re-packaged camp of one set of the same culprits versus the other... as we the populace get sodomised and ffff-ed over and over again... then their children replace them... while we, the ff-ed are not any better, we dont even treat or regard ourselves well in nigeria to talk off... approach a typical nigerian and he wants his back patted or palms greased for doing his job... and these same mentally deranged masses want change...smh.. mental change or window dressing?

If you are denying PDP misrule and massive looting of the national treasury over 16 years is responsible for the present dire situation then you are truly in self-denial. Regardless that the actors of the political parties changed parties, we blame the party responsible and their chief actors. In this instance, there are no bigger culprits than GEJ and his sycophants, including ministers.

He is a Nigerian hero who made sure that Nigeria remained one.

Unlike Gowon, your traitor ojukwu led his people to war but abandoned them and ran away to Ivory Coast.

Gowon saw to the rehabilitation of ibos and made it possible for them to regain their properties all over Nigeria.

Yet, ibos like you continue to deny being Nigerians but biafrans!

Tell me, how can Nigerians allow a biafran to be president of Nigeria? Pipe dream!

Of all the atrocities committed against the ibos by ojukwu was that of starvation which killed millions of hapless biafrans that he betrayed in absconding from the war. What cowardly deeds!

True! It was mostly ignorance and lack of adequate education that made Patience Jonathan to think that as a wife of the president, she had equal share as her husband in ruling Nigeria.
The office of First Lady under Jonathan was unconstitutional but it had more power than a governor and her ADC was a commissioner of Police.
Billions of Naira were channelled to her.
No wonder she was able to buy shipping Line, built fabulous hotels and numerous estates.
Nigeria suffered under the joint-presidency of Patience and Jonathan.

The Constitution was basically ignored and abused.

susanokopi:
No Nigerian government should allow another foreign government, especially USA, to decide its domestic or foreign policy. America refused to sell weapons to Nigeria to fight Boko Haram because of alleged human rights' violations by the Nigerian Army. Yet, America couldn't careless as Saudi Army is bombing innocent towns and cities of Yemen, killing thousands plus civilians with American weapons and aircrafts. The same US whose troops committed so many atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Talk of a pot calling the kettle black!

The same America that complains of human rights has locked up thousands in Gitmo, Cuba, without trial for decades. America supplies Israel weapons and war planes which are being used to kill innocent Palestinian kids, women, old and young people alike - against a people that has no Army, no air force, no navy etc.

America is supplying the worst governments under the sun with lethal weaponry without qualms. The Saudi Kingdom has world records for human-beheading, chopping off of arms and limbs. Egypt has world records for show trials and mass-sentencing of hundreds of people to death for protesting or belonging to opposition political party. APC should be weary of fair-weather friends!

What credentials has USA to preach human rights to Nigeria? The truth is that USA would rather wish Nigeria were a failed State and that Boko Haram were in the ascendancy.

The Minister of oil should not be any CIA operative in disguise nor does he or she have to come from a particular region of Nigeria but suffices it that he or she is a Nigerian.

APC should stand firm for national interest as against foreign's.
