QUESTIONS FOR THE AUTHORITY OF ABU, ZARIA AND SENATOR DINO MELAYE For ABU: •How was Dino admitted into ABU without 5 'O' level credits? •To study Geography, shouldn't he have obtained a better result than P8 in the subject? •Does ABU admit candidates with P8 in both English and Mathematics? •Does ABU award B.A. Geography as reflected in Dino's statement of results? •Why was Dino's name given as 'Daniel Jonah MELAYE' in his statement of results; and 'Melaiye Daniel Jonah O in the Senior School Certificate with which he was admitted? •How could Dino have participated in the national youth service in 1999 when he graduated in 2000? •Why is Dino's certificate not yet issued 17 years after graduation? ON SIR SHINA'S & SIR JIM'S N20M
It is being said that Sir Shina and Sir Jim
(permit me to so address Mr Ovia)
Had N20M apiece at about the same time
One built a house, the other a bank
Conclusion? You know what is being bandied
If you ask me if Sir Jim is
More successful than Sir Shina
I will say NO...
There is NO basis for the comparison
Or the trending assessment
Success is destination and journey both
Outcome may not be assessed by the end
But more, including but not limited to
Objective, Field, Destiny/ation, Fulfilment
Whatever your calling the best give
Sir Shina was the BIGGEST ever in his time
So is Sir Jim in his TIME
It was meant to be a symbiotic world
Every Jim needs Shina and vice versa
Just look around at the earth's configuration

We can all sit in the comfort of our homes, praying and wishing the corrupts will not have their way in this anti corruption war of PMB. Until we stand up to the senators, until we # occupyNationalAssembly , until we stand to be counted, until we join hands with the president to confront the enemies of our great nation lurking everywhere and in every departments of govt, the fight will come to naught. It's time we move from speakers on this forum to taking decisive action that will rescue our dear country from the hands of the hawks who are bent on scuttling the efforts of the president in repositioning the country. Do we have numerical strength to challenge them, do we have people who are ready to take the fight to this enemies of Nigeria . The time has come to put our efforts to action. The time has come to strengthen our numbers. The time has come to #occupyNationalAssembly. |

eclipse prayer

ECLIPSE: WHAT TO DO - YAA 'IBAADALLAH An eclipse is predicted for Thursday, September 1, 2016, in sha'Allah. If it does occur, four acts are required of a believer: 1. Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) 2. Takbir (saying Allahu akbar) 3. Salat 4. Sadaqah (giving charity) A'ishah (wife of the Prophet, salla Allahu 'alaihi was-salam) narrated: In the lifetime of Allah's Apostle (salla Allahu 'alaihi was-salam), the sun eclipsed, so he led the people in prayer and stood up and performed a long qiyam (standing), then bowed (ruku') for a long while. He stood up again (without making sujud, prostration) and performed a long qiyam but this time the period of standing was shorter than the first. He bowed again for a long time but shorter than the first one. Then he prostrated and prolonged the prostrations. He did the same in the second raka'a as he did in the first and then finished the prayer; by then, the sun (eclipse) had cleared. He delivered a khutbah (sermon) and after praising and glorifying Allah, he said, "The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse, remember Allah (dhikr), and say Takbir, pray (salat) and give Sadaqah". The Prophet (salla Allahu 'alaihi was-salam) then said, "O followers of Muhammad! (salla Allahu 'alaihi was-salam) By Allah! There is none who has more ghaira (self respect) than Allah as He has forbidden that His slaves, male or female commit adultery (zina). O followers of Muhammad! (salla Allahu 'alaihi was-salam) By Allah! If you know that which I know, you would laugh little and weep much." (Bukhari, vol.2 # 154). From the above hadith, believers are enjoined to do dhikr, say takbir, perform salah and give sadaqah when eclipse occur. So do not forget and do not involve yourself in frivolous speculation as to why the eclipse occurred.

I’m amazed that some people are desperately praying for Buhari to fail. They want the economy to continue its humpty-dumpty fall. They are praying fervently that oil prices would never recover so that the economy does not get a lifeline. They are hoping Boko Haram would stage a strong comeback. They are happy to see the Niger Delta militants continue avenging whatever. They are eager to see Buhari unable to do any meaningful project. All because they want to gloat at the end of it all. They want to have the “last laugh” and declare: “Didn’t we warn you?” It doesn’t occur to THEM that WE will all SUFFER the consequences TOGETHER. ~ OPINION BY SIMON KOLAWOLE |
In a world where people go to court to get covered, going naked is seen as freedom. A world where some lives don't matter A world where the speaker of truth sounds to the majority like a Lunatic and the truth taken to be preposterous A world that claims to give freedom yet infringes your freedom Whoever suggested Display of Alcohol, Nudity, hugging and kissing, smoking of weed as a prerequisite for singing Hip hop has done much harm on humanity than Hitler did to the Jews. While the latter did his for a while, the former is in affiliation with Shaytan and in his absence, coming generations would take to this. As we go head towards the grave, As the seconds count, As we go into an empire where the amount of money we make, evil we did, would not count, We should remember not to follow their ways, being believers, doing good deeds and calling one another to the mutual teaching of truth, patience and constancy. For without this, By Time, Mankind is in Loss. Alhamdulillah, we won the Hijab case in lagos and our girls can put on their hijab to school. SubanAllah, Allahu Akbar! Bashir Lucas Samson Lukman |
ADVICE TO ND AVENGERS: Keep on keeping on. Pls don't listen to anybody advising you against pipeline vandalization. Keep it up. Deal with Buhari(Pharaoh), APC & northern hegemony. Destroy your land so that the people of Katsina will suffer. Before you detonate the next bomb & blow up the next pipeline, think again. The Ogoni land is getting cleaned up & soon commercial fishing will commence. Your friend in Enugu that is urging you on is going back to farm, Enugu will soon be one of the leading producers of banana & pineapple in the world in collaboration with a Mexican company. Your friend in Lagos is urging you on to destroy ur land but he is going to Kebbi to get farmlands for rice farming. Meanwhile they have also started drilling oil in Lagos. Wait, Kebbi will soon feed the whole country & export. Tuta absoluta attacked Kano, Jigawa & some northern states & you catch cold in your Creek. Your brother in Edo will soon be supplying the whole country with tomatoes due to Igbinedion university. Are you thinking already? Norway want to eliminate all cars using fossil fuel by 2025. The world is moving on my brothers. You think you are sabotaging Buhari but he is gradually settling down into govt. Boko haram has been largely decapitated & the world recognizes that. Anti corruption fight is progressing. About 3 trillion naira was announced recently as recovered & frozen loots. That's money stolen by the love of your life. Money that could have been used to develop the Creek. Money that would have connected you with roads, bridges & other amenities. They stole it & gave you guns to go into the Creeks. How many among the love of your life can spend a night with you where you are right now? Where are their children? I heard your beloved PDP has zone presidency to the north for 2019 election. The same north you so much hate. The same north that is dominating you. Can't you see they are just deceiving you? You are not their concern. Their concern is the loots from the oil produced on your land. They don't care if you destroyed the land. They have no plan to live there. How many refineries have they built for you with all the looting. They love you so much to keep you on 65k per month but cannot give you basic education to emancipate you. Are their children handling guns and sleeping in the creeks with you? Pls don't drop your arms. Destroy the environment to get at Buhari. But when you are alone pls read this over again. Dr Ben. |
The Choices We Made..........Senator Babafemi Ojudu Today is a very sad day for me. I feel so sad to the point numbness. All the states of Nigeria were represented earlier today at the stakeholders' briefing for the Free School Feeding program in Abuja. Some of the young men and women planning and executing this exciting and enriching project are from Ekiti, but Ekiti State, my state, their state is not a beneficiary. As such Ekiti State is not a partipating state and not represented. Our children in public schools in Ekiti will not benefit from this program. The benefits in terms of child nutrition and good health will not come to them. School enrollment will not increase as experienced in Osun and Kaduna states, not to talk of retention! We shall not benefit from the spin-off effect of local agricultural production. Thousands of our women will not benefit from being employed as caterers. Furthermore, our family and state economy will not improve as envisaged in the participating states. This is simply because of the choice we made. What do we do now? How do we get out of this dark alley? The rest of the country is moving fast past us. This is unacceptable. Something has to give. We cannot sit down, fold our hands and mortgage the future of thousands of our young children and women who should benefit from this laudable program and many other initiatives that are aimed at improving the lives of our people. A few days ago thousands of hectares of land were cleared by the Federal Government in Osun State and parceled out to young farmers to cultivate Cashew. In the next three years, this plantation will be manufacturing cashew juice, producing pulps and nuts as well as oil used in furniture manufacturing . This is an initiative of the Federal Goverment in partnership with the state government and that game changer Oba, the Ooni of Ife. For months now our Governor, Ayo Fayose has not attended the National Economic Council meetings. Great initiatives are coming out of this congregation of Governors and Federal Government officials to diversify the economy . In one year Kebbi State has benefitted N18 billion from the rice intervention fund. In a season, the farmers in Kebbi have harvested one million tons of rice paddy . Lagos and Kebbi are collaborating in rice production and rice milling. Where are we in all of these developments happening around us? Governors are drawing from many other intervention funds to organise their farmers to grow cassava, cocoa and palm trees. We are not featuring in any of these, yet we are mired in poverty. Our people are hungry and stealing pots of soup from their neighbor's kitchen and downing bowls of stolen amala with cold palm oil. What has gone wrong with us? Our situation is very sad and critical but this is a choice we made! The Choices We Made..........Senator Babafemi Ojudu Today is a very sad day for me. CONDITION FOR CEASE FIRE NDA GAVE TOGETHER WITH SOUTH SOUTH GOVEENORS Niger Delta Governors Want Corruption Charges Dropped Across The Region To Stop Pipeline Attacks.............................. Governors of the South-South region who met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House today called for a majority of the corruption cases in the region to be dropped by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), SaharaReporters has learned. The meeting was attended by Governors of Edo, Ondo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, as well as the Deputy Governor of Cross River. Our source, who was at the meeting, said that only the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and the deputy Governor of Cross River opposed the others, who singled out the federal government’s anti-corruption initiative as the reason why Niger Delta Avengers are blowing up pipelines in the region. Speaking one after the other, the governors reportedly asked the Federal government to drop charges against former militants accused of corruption. They also want the EFCC to stop investigating the campaign fund scam which has so far revealed how former President Goodluck Jonathan shared funds meant that were meant for combating Boko Haram among his People’s Democratic Party functionaries. Our correspondents also learned that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, was curiously on the side of the South-South governors who want corruption charges and all forms of corruption investigations against the Niger Delta politicians discontinued. The Governor of Delta, Patrick Okota, reportedly obtained a two-week ceasefire from the Niger Delta Avengers before arriving at the meeting but did not disclose it because he was uncomfortable that the Vice President wasn’t disposed to the idea. SaharaReporters learnt that through his Deputy, Mr. Okowa had extensive meetings with the Niger Delta Avengers, pointing out that it was evident that he and other South South governors knew who the militants were as he spoke at the meeting. The source further stated that if the terms pushed by the South South Governors are fully adopted by the Buhari regime, his anti-corruption fight will die prematurely in all of the South South states. He said that from the tone of the meeting, it was clear that the Niger Delta Avengers and their activities are being funded by politicians in the region with the objective of halting Buhari’s anti-corruption war. A press statement issued at the end of the meeting by the Vice-President’s office indicated that the federal government was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Defense, Rtd. Major General Mohammed Dan Ali; Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani; and Dr. Kachikwu. Also in attendance were military service chiefs, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt.Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin. |

Islam is portrayed as a religion of “terror” and “killing”, yet this is just one of the most widely held misconceptions about Islam. Allah Almighty states unambiguously in the Quran (what means): "Nor take life -- which Allah has made sacred -- except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand retaliation or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life, for he is helped (by the Law)." [Quran 17:33] Based on this verse, it is Islamically unlawful to murder anyone who is innocent of any crime. At this point, we would do well to remember the distinction between the Quran and Sunnah, and the Muslims. Only the Quran and Sunnah are guaranteed to be in accordance with what the Creator desires, whereas the Muslims may possibly deviate. Hence, if any Muslim kills an innocent person, that Muslim has committed a grave sin, and the action cannot be claimed to have been committed "in the name of Islam." It should be clear, then, that the oft-used term "Muslim terrorist" is almost an oxymoron: by killing innocent people, a Muslim is committing a grave sin, and Allah is Just. This phrase is offensive and demeaning of Islam, and it should be avoided. It is hoped that as the general level of public awareness and understanding of Islam increases, people will keep "terrorism" and "Islam" separate from each other, and not use them in the same phrase. Jihaad or Holy War? Another misunderstood Islamic concept is that the Creator has imposed `Jihaad' on us. The term "holy war" has come from the time of the Crusades, and originated in Europe as a rallying cry against the Muslims in Jerusalem. Jihaad is an Arabic word, meaning struggle, but in the context of many verses in the Quran, it carries the meaning of military struggle or war. Allah gradually introduced the obligation of military struggle to the Muslim community at the time of the Messenger . The first verse ever revealed in that connection is as follows, (which means): "Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed, and most surely Allah is well able to assist them." [Quran 22: 39] This verse lays down the precondition for all wars in Islam: there must exist certain oppressive conditions on the people. The Creator unequivocally orders us to fight oppression and persecution, even at the expense of bloodshed as the following verse shows in which Allah Says (what means): "And fight in the cause of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from where they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the reward of the unbelievers. But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors." [Quran 2:190-192] As one might imagine, the method of military struggle has been clearly and extensively defined in the Quran and Sunnah. Since this is a vast subject, we can simply summarize part of it by noting that it is unlawful to kill women, children, the sick, the old and the innocent. From the Sunnah, we find: Narrated 'Abdullaah, may Allah be pleased with him: "During some of the battles of the Prophet a woman was found killed. Allah's Apostle disapproved the killing of women and children." [Al-Bukhari] A related misconception about Jihaad is often propagated by Muslims who say that: "Jihaad is only for self-defense of physical borders." The Quran and Sunnah refute this notion categorically. As the verses cited above show, Jihaad is obligatory wherever there is injustice, and Muslims need not acknowledge imaginary lines around the earth when it comes to upholding this obligation. The Messenger of Allah has also commented on this extensively in the Sunnah. From the study of the Sunnah, we find: Narrated Abu Moosaa, may Allah be pleased with him: "A man came to the Prophet and asked: 'A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah's Cause?' The Prophet said: "He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause." [Al-Bukhari] Hence, the Creator obligates us to fight wherever people are being deprived of freely hearing or practicing the Message of Allah, as contained in the Quran and Sunnah. Sayyid Qutb, a famous Muslim scholar eloquently discusses the notion of Jihaad and self-defense in his book Milestones: "If we insist on calling Islamic Jihaad a defensive movement, then we must change the meaning of the word `defense' and mean by it `defense of man' against all those elements which limit his freedom. These elements take the form of beliefs and concepts, as well as of political systems, based on economic, racial or class distinction." Judicial System of Islam: A third major area of misconceptions about Islam is that of the Islamic judicial system, which is considered unnecessarily harsh. This assumption is weak in two respects. First, it presupposes that human beings are more just and more merciful than the Creator, and therefore we can change the law. Second, it is often based on gross oversimplifications of Islamic law, such as saying: "all thieves get their hands cut off!" The Quran and Sunnah make it clear that the law of retaliation (or equality) governs us for murder and physical injury, but forgiveness is better as the following verses from the Quran show; Allah Says (what means): "The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loves not those who do wrong. But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. The blame is only against those who oppress men and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a grievous penalty. And whoever is patient and forgiving, these most surely are actions due to courage." [Quran 42:40-43] The Creator ordained the law of retaliation for us, knowing full well that we might question it. In many non-Muslim societies today, there are ongoing debates about the death penalty. In Islam, this discussion is moot: The Creator has decided the matter for us. He has however given us an interesting verse in the Quran, which advises to consider the matter carefully if we want to understand it; the verse says (which means): "And there is life for you in (the law of) retaliation, O people of understanding, that you may guard yourselves." [Quran 2:179] Most people are also unaware of the stringent conditions, which must be met for the law of retaliation to be applicable. The Sunnah is full of examples of the Messenger of Allah showing us when the law's preconditions were fulfilled. For example, a thief is only liable to lose his or her hand if the stolen item exceeds a certain value, and if it is proven that the item was taken from its normal resting place. Stealing food is not punishable by the loss of one's hand, and other items are exempt as well. This is just an example of how carefully the law is applied in Islam. Moreover, it must be clarified that penalties in Islam are meant to establish peace and security for the society. The Sword of Islam: Finally, another reason advanced for this prevalent misconception is that Islam `spread by the sword'. It should be clear by now that we must always distinguish between the Quran and Sunnah and the Muslims, when it comes to determining what the Creator has asked of us. Allah has stated clearly in the Quran (which means): "There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever rejects Satan (and what he calls to) and believes in Allah, he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handhold, which shall not break off, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing." [Quran 2:256] Hence, it is impossible to accept Islam under duress. Even if misguided Muslims were to try to `force' Islam somehow on others, based on the previous verse, it would not be accepted by the Creator. Historical arguments that try to demonstrate that Muslims did not `convert others by force' are actually secondary to the argument given above. However, it is worth noting that historically, Islam did spread by peaceful means. The Message of the Creator was introduced in Africa and southeast Asia by trading Muslims. People started converting to Islam in big numbers when the Muslims liberated them from the clutches of the cruel rulers, who used to tax then heavily and loot precious belongings from them whenever they wished. Today the largest Muslim country in the world is Indonesia. The military expeditions that led to the conquest of large swathes of territory in Europe and central Asia were all marked by tolerance of other creeds and faith. |

Now, we are being told the benefits of subsidy removal but this same thing was ridiculed and protested against in 2012. That is hypocrisy. Then they didn't tell us the government will not use the money for what is needy but they VEHEMENTLY said Removal of Subsidy is no way!! If it was bad in 2012,it is bad in 2016. The subject matter is not what the government wants to do with it, but what the removal of subsidy stands for. After reading the pros and cons, I agree removal of subsidy is good though at the expense of the masses. Anyone who thinks subsidy was bad in 2012 and good in 2016 is an hypocrite. They should tender their apologies to whoever deserves it. As for me, Goodluck Jonathan, I was vehemently against this removal of subsidy in 2012,I'm sorry some people drunken with the opium of power made me believe it was a bad thing. If they told you the problem is you will mismanage the money, I wouldn't have seen subsidy as a bad thing. On a last note, if you are asked, "Why is removal of subsidy good in 2016 and 2012?" and your response is "Oga Jonah will mismanage the money but Baba will not". You have not answered any questions but displayed your hypocrisy. When you make a mistake, just admit it. "I was wrong to believe and say it was wrong in 2012" Simple. Saying the truth and knowing when to be sorry is an important aspect in life that builds your integrity. |
In October 13, 2000, General
Mohammadu Buhari led lorry
loads of
Northerners mostly Fulanis to
Governor Lam Adesina over the
killing of
Fulanis in Saki, Oyo State.
Fulanis had clashed with Yoruba
farmers in Saki, over grazing.
At about 2 p.m., same day,
Buhari arrived in a long convoy
at the
governor’s office in company of
the former governor of Lagos
State,
General Buba Marwa, Alhaji
Aliko Muhammed, Alhaji
Abdulrazak and Alhaji
Hassan. They all wore long
faces.
And in an angry tone, asked the
shocked Governor Adesina why
he has not
done anything to stop the
killing of Fulanis, demanding
that compensation
must be given for the killings
His words: “Your Excellency, our
visit here is to discuss with you
and
your government our
displeasure about the incident
of clashes between two
peoples… the Fulani cattle
rearers and merchants are
today being harassed
, attacked and killed like in Saki.
In the month of May, 2000, 68
bodies
of Fulani cattle rearers were
recovered and buried under the
supervision
and protection from a team of
Mobile Police from Oyo State
Command.
“ That some arrests were made
by Oyo State Police Command in
the massacre
with their immediate release
without court trial. This was
said to have
been ordered by Oyo State
authorities and they were so
released to their
amazement. The release of the
arrested suspects gave the clear
impression
that the authorities are backing
and protecting them to
continue the
unjust and illegal killings of
Fulani cattle rearers…”
According to the general, they
therefore wanted immediate
stoppage of the
killings, justice and
compensation to the Fulanis.
Governor Lam Adeshina in
response spoke for about 20
minutes and the
generals were at the edge of
their seats for the entire period.
Lam said: “ Before I thank you
for this visit, you have come to
tell me
something. I also want to tell
you something and that
something is to make
an appeal. General Buhari has
been a former Head of State,
Brigadier Marwa
has governed Lagos for some
time and with credibility… so
you are national
leaders of this country. Even
though, by accident of birth,
you are from
the North, you can be born
anywhere; may be next time
when I am coming to
the world, I will be born in the
North or the South-South. “My
appeal will
be that effort must be made to
unite this country and that will
be ïn the
best interest of all Nigerians. I
am appealing to the Arewa
Consultative
Forum, under which auspices
our distinguished Nigerians are
here; in
recent times, they have been
sending wrong signals to a
number of us who
believe in the unity and peace of
Nigeria; you have been too
critical of
the efforts of the Federal
Government. I am saying this
because Nigeria,
at this point, cannot afford to
break and the words you
northern leaders
utter are very weighty, at the
South here, we normally analyze
them
critically”.
On all the allegations, he said:
“From what they have written
in the
petition, this government is
completely blameless because
we don’t
interfere either with the
judiciary or with the police
functions. I always
preach peaceful co-existence in
Oyo State and Nigeria as a
whole. We are
all Nigerians and that is what
we have been preaching all
along and we
shall continue to be Nigerians ,
no matter the present or
immediate
problems which will be solved
by the grace of Allah.
“I want to say also that we
really have to appeal to our
people, the
itinerant Bororo people, that
they should observe less
aggression. It is
not good , it is not right just
coming from somewhere then
you just pass
through farm lands cultivated
may be with the person’s life
savings and
then over night everything is
gone. That is not right, even
Allah does not
approve of that.
We even wonder when they talk
about this people carrying
dangerous
weapons, I say do they really
believe in Allah? When you just
take life
like that and go away! Are we
not forbidden not to take
human life?
So I think General Buhari,
General Marwa, you have to be
educating them…
It is my pleasure to inform you
that at the Presidential Lodge,
we have
made some arrangements for
refreshments so that before you
go we can
refresh together”.
Buhari and his team did not
wait for any refreshments. They
came in angry
and left bewildered |

• N’Assembly, embassy, prisons service indicted • Corporation failed to remit N3.234tr domestic crude oil sales • $581,899,088 gas sale money not in escrow account • N36.43b dams fund diverted to NSA’s Office A damning audit report from the Auditor-General of the Federation, Samuel Ukura, which was submitted to the National Assembly yesterday showed monumental corruption in some Federal Government’s establishments. Key aspects of the 2014 report which was presented to the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Salisu Maikasuwa, include the alleged refusal of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to remit some N3,234,577,666,791.35 trillion revenue for the sale of domestic crude oil to the federation account. The report stated that “From the examination of NNPC mandates to CBN on Domestic Crude Oil Sales and Reconciliation statement of … sub-committee of Federation Allocation Account committee meeting held in January, 2014, amount not remitted to FAAC was N3,234,577,666 791.35.” According to the report, some $235,685,861.31 representing money realised from gas sale was diverted from the escrow account. “Review of state profile on sale of gas to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) was not paid to the Federation Account but transferred to some undisclosed escrow accounts. Relevant documents were not made available for verification. “Sales profile on gas in respect of gas export sales due to federation were stated to have been paid and received through the NGL funding accounts, no statements or documents were made available to confirm the receipts as well as the utilisation of these payments made through the named account,” the report further stated. It was also alleged in the report that a total payment, amounting to N73,547,759,436 was made within the period in breach of established purpose of the funds. It stated: “The sum of N36,432,423,968.73 was released to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for the rehabilitation and construction of dams instead of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. “The sum of N2,894,531250.00 was spent for the procurement of hand sanitizers for schools and critical public places. The sum of N31,324,952,239.87 was payment of subsidy on fertilizer and youth employment in agricultural programmes. “The sum of N2,395,851,978.00 was payment for group Life Assurance Premium for Armed Forces budget in 2013, but not backed. The sum of N500,000,000 was made as payment for agricultural programmes. “These were at variance with the purpose of the fund. No evidence of these lines of expenditure in the 2014 Appropriation Act,” the AGF revealed in the report. But the report also indicted the management of the National Assembly that would process and give effect to the report. It stated that the management of the National Assembly made payments of N9,514,568,222.62, without raising payment vouchers. According to the AGF, the management of the National Assembly violated the nation’s financial regulation. In the same period under review, personal advances were granted to 112 officials of the National Assembly from recurrent votes and 50 members of staff from general service votes from July to December, 2014 for various purposes, all amounting to N1,162,009,305.00. In the audit report, the AGF also revealed how the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington DC, United States of America, realised Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) between 2012 and March 2015, but expended the whole amount on sundry expenses. The said amount is $3,705,428.00. The audit report indicted the leadership of the Nigerian Prisons Service. The AGF in the report said Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax of N2,036,758,176.75 was deducted and said to be remitted to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). According to the report, there is no evidence of remittance and nothing was produced for audit confirmation. The Clerk to the National Assembly is expected to forward the report to the leadership of both chambers for further consideration. http://m.guardian.ng/news/audit-report-exposes-over-n3tr-fraud-at-nnpc-onsa/

SAVE YOUR LIFE AND THOSE OF OTHERS! - LEARN HOW TO CALCULATE A TIRE'S EXPIRY DATE! Did you know that every tire has an expiry date after which it must be replaced? Failure to do so could risk the car owner having blown-up tires while driving! The life span of a tire from the date of manufacture is four years. This is an international standard. Now, how do you know the date of manufacture of your tire? Well the date is actually written on the tire itself as four digits. The first two digits represents the week of manufacture, while the last two represents the year of manufacture. Please note that the four digits stand alone. They are not added to any alphabet(s). Some manufacturers place the asterisk sign (*) before and after the four digits, while others simply encircle it. For example, 1612 means that the tire was manufactured on the 16th week (last week of April) in the year 2012. The tire will therefore expire on the 16th week of 2016. In the attached image, the tire was manufactured in the 3rd week of 2004. It expired in the 3rd week of 2008. You may therefore buy a "brand new" tire which has since EXPIRED or just about to expire! So watch out! Some dubious manufacturers don't even state the date of manufacture on their tires, which is a breach of the Estacode. This kind of breach is common among the "Made in China" brands. Buying a tire devoid of manufacturing date is akin to swallowing a pill without knowing the expiry date. In fact, it is even worse, because the expired drug can only harm you, while a burst tire puts the lives of ALL the occupants of your vehicle in jeopardy, plus the others that might be killed if your vehicle hits other vehicles or passersby! So now that you know how to read your tire's expiry date, please do the needful. It takes only few minutes to find out the expiry date of your tires! Let us collectively bring an end to the senseless deaths on our roads due to expired tires.- by Ahmed Idris |
Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki weekend restated the commitment of the National Assembly under his watch to President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s war against corruption. Speaking with a team of editors of the London based “The Economist” newspaper at the weekend, Saraki, according to a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mohammed Isa, said the Senate is ever ready to partner with President Buhari to ensure the success of the anti-corruption war. The Senate, he said had already demonstrated such commitment through its interventions on many alleged corrupt transactions such as its swift investigation and adoption of a report on the management of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) that saved the nation about N7billion and the exposure of the inconsistencies in the 2016 budget. The step, he said was a departure from the past, where such reports were either watered-down or not presented for debate and adoption. He cited the report he presented to the last Senate on the over N1trillion fuel subsidy scam that never saw the light of the day. In furtherance to the commitment, the Senate President said Nigerians would in the next few weeks be availed of the details of the National Assembly budget, which will be a departure from the tradition of having one line item budget. “For the first time we promised Nigerians to give out our budget breakdown. The committee will make it report available by next week. We are resolved to break the tradition of one line item,” he assured. Saraki said though party differences exist between the senators, citing example of leadership tussle, he, however, said national interest and the desire of each senator to fulfil the promises made to the Nigerian people have become the guiding principle of the senate in their team work. On the economy, he said the Senate has embarked on series of legislative interventions to create a conducive environment for the private sector, as he said, “it is only when the private sector thrives that the issue of unemployment will be addressed and the nation’s GDP will increase.” “Few days ago, we received a report on the laws that need to be amended in order of priority importance to ease doing business and overall private sector participation in the stimulation of Nigeria’s economy. We will soon commence the implementation of the recommendations in the report in addition to pushing for the amendment of the Procurement Act to stimulate and protect our local industries,” he assured. http://m.guardian.ng/news/we-exposed-budget-padding-to-help-anti-graft-war-says-saraki/ |
