I think you need to sort out your WASSCE before applying to UI, or any school for that matter.

DON'T change your course from Medicine to any of the following:
1. Chemistry
2. Zoology
3. Microbiology

There is a high chance you won't be allowed to cross from those disciplines to College of Medicine. Once a zoologist, always a zoologist. Chemistry do allow people to cross, but it DEPENDS on the disposition of the HOD; this is also applicable to microbiology. But it is extremely rare to cross from zoology to medicine.

The following courses will allow you to cross to medicine:
Biochemistry
Physiology
Human Nutrition

Why? They are all in College of Medicine or Faculty of Basic Basic Medical Sciences, and once the provost endorses your form, I don't think any HOD can hold you back. Besides, there is a history of students crossing from those courses to Medicine.

Now, many candidates with high scores who can't get to medicine would change to Physiology or Biochemistry, which in turn makes the two disciplines competitive through change of course route. Your best bet is to change to Human nutrition and then read well in 100 level. Basically if you have a CGPA of 6.0 (First Class), you can be guaranteed of crossing but mostly a 5.5 (comfortable 2:1) is good enough to cross but there is no guarantee.

You will need the following courses to cross (4 chemistry courses, 5 physics courses and 3 zoology courses):
CHE 195 (Practical Chemistry, 2 Units)-- very easy to get an A (7.0)
CHE 177 Organic Chemistry, 3 units
CHE 157 Physical Chemistry, 4 units (legendary CHE 157)
CHE 127 Inorganic Chemistry, 3 units

PHY 112 (Basic Principles of Physics II, 3 units)
PHY 113 (Basic Principles of Physics III, 3 units)
PHY 114 (Basic Principles of Physics I, 3 units)
PHY 115 (Basic Principles of Physics IV, 3 units)
PHY 118 (Experimental Physics I, 3 Units)-- many people usually find this difficult. Each experiment is graded (each time you go to the lab is more or less taking an exam) and is based on a law of physics. So read your manual and know why the experiment is needed. You are trying to validate a constant/or a principle, by plotting data generated during the lab work. You can always tell if your slope or constant is way off if you have a sound knowledge of the experimental principle

ZOO 111 (Principles of Animal Biology, 3 units)--more or less a glorified biology. You have to take it seriously if Chiaka is one of the lecturers.
ZOO 112 (The Mammalian Body, 3 units)
ZOO 113 (Diversity of Animal Life, 3 units)--this is a second semester course, and is by far the toughest of the three. It requires a lot of reading, drawing and cramming. It has a practical component too. Different animal kingdoms etc.

You will also take other courses like the GES (general studies 101, 102, 103 or 105), bio-statistics etc but your chances of 'crossing' to medicine rest squarely on the 12 courses. i.e. those 12 courses, not the overall CPGA, are evaluated for change of course purposes. If you intend to change to pharmacy, you would need to register for some botany courses.

Generally, the easiest route to UI medicine is to put any of the three courses especially Human Nutrition as first choice, and then apply to change to medicine after 100 level.

OP...pls follow this advice diligently...the easiest route to medicine in UI is through Human Nutrition department.

Hello Ayofaks, I am naturally fair skinned but I have wanted to be lighter for a while but never got around to it. Last year, my friend told me to mix citro clear serum with my cream(I use Fair and White So White cream, been using since 2010). I added the citro clear to my cream but did not see any visible results. I am currently pregnant but will soon put to bed and I am darker now than Sahara desert. I intend to attack my complexion with fervour once I put to bed so I got a pack of Asantee Papaya Soap, Eden Apricot Face and Body Scrub and my regular F&w cream but I need a very good serum to add to my cream. Someone suggested I get something from Bismid but I dont trust all those their creams. What would you recommend that will lighten my complexion and also give me an overall body glow? Thanks in advance.

Hi...i don't think you really need a serum ...the most important thing is that you're exfoliating...exfoliating the skin makes it more responsive to cream. I'd advise you start with the products you got already. Wishing you smooth and safe delivery

let's start with the kind of soap you use...your hygiene practices?...esp with your bedspread and pillow case not forgetting your handkerchief...do you pick at the pimples/acnes...how often do you scrub and cleanse your face...if you use any face cleanser @ all...does it contain salycilic acid?

I wish to inquire from Gurus in the house a suitable cream that I can use that would over time even out my very dark and rough face . I once had severe pimple/acne for a couple of years and though I still have it ,it is much better and bearable . It was that bad that I had to visit a beauty Parlour way back but the cost wasnt student friendly.that was in 2012 when I just left school. I have tried Neomedrol and other creams . They barely helped and in the end I just stopped applying anything on the face

1. Which Acne Treatment with a very high potency would you refer?

A high percentage complain of Shea butter .... I for one am not a Shea butter fan and so are a lot around me. How ever it works for some people.

If he is to use Shea butter then I suggest he uses ekpomi oil its gotten from palm kennel but lighter than palms kennel oil .used on babies very well. My kogi sisters will know it.

I don't think it contains HQ tho.

I only used the advanced acne treatment serum and it broke me out. but when I stop, my acne clears up.

But maybe it's my skin, (I'm acne prone) every facial serum I've used breaks me out. Even the non oily/greasy ones.

Hmmmm...Their products do me strong thing...my elder sis' experience was even worse....she had serious break outs..

Sorry to butt in...if you can get cream rich in vitamin c and collagen...vit c stimulates collagen production...it'd help to build up your skin. Take vitamin supplements too...you'd have to fix it from inside out.

whether light or dark what matters is how you take care of your skin, most light skinned girls don't play with their skin, they invest in it that is why it looks pretty,unlike dark girls that will put on heavy lotions and walk around the sun with no Sun block, many of them do not exfoliate talk more or less use nice products and they will start blaming the society, I was once dirty black but now I take good care of my skin and people now ask me if I am Ethiopian or black American ,the attention has increased tremendously,dark girls should please stop been lazy and take care of their skin, if you know how dedicated fair girls are to their skin care you won't believe it,watch YouTube videos, visit nice skin blogs like skincaretalk

The application of the toner and face cream did a wonderful job after 9 days.

It did clear my pimples
Removed some other spots and smoothen my face

So thumbs up Ayofkas. .it truly works

On its bathing gel, well didn't see much of an improvement after 20 days of use but it's sweet smell is truly what I love about it.

So all in all I rate those products 7/10

Even vitamin c oxidises on exposure. Turning brown is not strictly synonymous with hq.
as for pimples n rashes d product may have been too heavy for ur facial skin or u used much qty. Or ur skin didn't agree with it

also if u r acne prone, a strong salicylic acid toner would be more ideal.

I never had pimples nor acne before using it...i still maintain my stand that it contains hq...my elder sister is still living with the damage their products caused on her skin.
