First, I want to wish all those who have successfully completed the recent 2015 Batch B Orientation camp a happy stay in their PPA and also better service year ahead. As with the normal tradition, jostling for favourable posting to place of primary assignment will have commenced. Many would have been told to make sure they join the band group, cultural group, parade team, etc, just so they can be posted to urban areas or state capitals. Many will end up bribing NYSC camp officials while some may even go to the lenght of sleeping with soldiers just so they can achieve that goal. If I hear you complain about corruption in Nigeria ehn! I have been there and I know these things. However, my main intent here is to give you reasons why you should be happy serving in a rural community instead of an urban area (state capital). Hopefully at the end of reading this piece, you will have had enough credible information to enable you reach a decision that will enable you enjoy your service year to the fullest. Here we go. 1. Housing and Feeding Rural communities are places where you have the cheapest cost of housing and feeding compared to state capitals. A comfortable room with electricity bill for a month can cost as low as N1,000 compared to N2,500 in a state capital or even a free without paying a token. Need I remind you that you are more likely to get freebies such as fresh vegetables, yams, garri, plantain, garri and pepper in a rural community than in an urban centre? If you want your meagre N19,800 monthly allowance to be able to sustain you with you even being able to save some part of it then you should be happy serving in a rural community. 2. Transportation Your PPA is mostly likely going to be within a trekable distance from your house when you are serving in a rural community plus you can always get unsolicited free rides from members of your community. Go state capital go tell Hausa, Ibo or Yoruba man wey come from faraway come hussle for survival make him carry you free. Him go rebuke you like devil. 3. Save! Save! Save! Just in case you failed to grab the essence of point 1 & 2 above, am making it obvious. This is especially for those who understand the harsh economic realities currently facing Nigeria. The truth is there is no guaranteed job waiting for your at the end of your service year. You therefore need some change that can sustain you during the job hunt. If you are looking for a means to quickly squander your meagre allawe, then keep praying and lobbying to be posted to the state capital. Reality will set in when you stop recieving monthly credit alert from federal government. 4. Personal CDS Project If you want to win that state prize and even shake hand with President Buhari or the state Governor at the end of your service year then consider it a good thing to serve in a rural community. The reason here is that rural communities have many unfulfilled needs compared to urban centres and you can tap into these opportunities to carry out a personal CDS project that can win you fame and glory. 5. Less Stringent Rules & Regulations To Follow Am not in any way trying to encourage indiscipline but there are certain moments in during your service year when you will seriously wish for the rules to be relaxed a little bit. Your wish will most probably be answered in a rural area than otherwise. If you want to ask me which rules and regulations, go grab your NYSC Bye Laws handbook and read through. I know for a fact that extension-of-service-year is more common in urban centres so be happy you are not going there. 6. Cultural Integration & Learning If you really wish to understand the culture of the people in the the state where you are serving then a rural community is the best place to carry out your service. Those who serve in rural areas have over the years proven to be more knowledgeable about their state of deployment than those who serve in urban centres. You too can join this prestigious league. 7. Respect As a Corp member serving in a rural area, be sure that you are going to be respected not only by members of your community, but also by your employee at your PPA. Majority of incidences of maltreatment of Corp members have often come from urban areas. If you read story of Corp members who were thrown out of their PPA and lodge by their employee (a proprietor in an urban school) then you will treasure this additional benefit of serving in a rural community. 8. Valued Service This is also an offshoot of point 6 above. Be sure that your service in a rural community will be deeply valued and appreciated because you will be rendering a scarce service to your host community. Please don't fail to take advantage of this. I hope these few points will convince you on why you should be happy to serve in a rural community. Questions, comments, additions and subtractions are welcome. God bless the federal republic of Nigeria. |

Got this in my mail.... dont know if it will help in whatever way So long, too long. How have you been, missed your feedback and gist. For me, I've been very busy with some projects. man must work and wack. lol I got mails from people begging me to send a mail just to hear my jokes. chai, that means I am becoming a jester abi? well, all is well even in the ocean Get ready for Admission Movie Tape Rolling... Action. Top 10 Admission Gist 1a. Results are ready and admission list is ready. 1b. Some dept did interviews especially in the sciences, if you were not invited for the interview or you did not go, please note that is the end of admission for you. it means you did not pass the exams. 2. Results and admission recommendation will be out same time on your portal, any time from next week 3. Cut-off have been fixed in many courses while others are yet to fixed theirs 4. senate still yet to sit on the final list, hence the delay 5. Most of the results and admission list has been sent to Pg school for final confirmation 6. Results will be released any time from next week but at most end of this month 7. Hope your transcript has reached Pg school. 8. Many people have checked their result in the dept through unofficial sources- you can check yours too. some folk was annoyed with me for not checking his results for him, that since he bought past questions from me its my responsibility to also check results for him shooo... for how much bros ![]() see mind... that guy must be from Warri... nothing I nor go see for this Unilag admission wahala Well, trust me, I discharged such childish bruhaha, before it became cancerous. For those, who care to listen, I have more than 10,000 people in my list if I check result for everyone, its an invitation to chaos I dont check result for people, at least not in 2015. if you cannot do such simple task using what we call networking and persuasion skills, then wait for the public results, 9. Those who checked their results and found that they didnt meet the cut-off have started doing some runs to get in, remember the unofficial cut-off mark for ALL courses is 40%, so anyone who has 40% even when the cut-off is 66% has legal right to be admitted albeit through sponsorship, while someone who scored 52% will not be given admission because he didnt meet the cut-off marks. that is why you need to know ahead of the pack what you score at least to see if you can PUSH P- Pray/Pay U- Until S- Something H- Happens But know this 98% of admission is based purely on MERIT. I have seen some of the dept list is purely based on your performance. And many names I know already got admission- congrats in advance. I had a look into the result scores some weeks back for some depts and the scores I saw was pathetic and ridiculous. How come people have low scores like 5%, 8%, 10%, a lot of 15%-27% These ones should not even dream of admission this year and funny enough, they are the majority in each depts!!! 10. Those who are waiting for public results- its either you just dont want to stress yourself which I advised or you have PLAN B. Talking of PLAN B Have you thought about it, what if you didnt get this admission? Let me confess to you, the results I saw were generally very poooooooooorrrrr. Some depts did relatively well, like Transport Planning, MBA, MRM, Education Planning, PGDE and MPE Almost all sciences was woeful, all the chemistry courses was poor. Msc finance and Economics too badtttt. Msc Computer science cut-off was fixed for 56% and only 35 people were short-listed for admission. MMP is 40% few people still made it. MBA ranges between 52 and 59 for PT & FT Most Environmental course cutoff are 40% ie Estate, MPM, MFM, Msc Construction, but few still made the list. MPH and Msc Public health was very bloody as in result wise so the cutoff is a bit lower this year. UNILAG will only admit at most 6000 people out of over 30,000 that applied. so what is the PLAN B for the rest 24,000 people? My Suggestions If you dont make the list, relax, its not the end of life. you can do the following 1. Re-adjust your plans and stop fighting the reality on ground 2. find out where you missed it and start preparation earlier- start reading on time and if you need to work on a subject then work on it, if you need a teacher do just that. Next form will be out in MAY/JUNE 2016. 3. Try other school Pg programs, at least the competition is not that crazy in other schools. but that doesn't mean you should forget Unilag 4. Try out a certification program. Enrol for PMP, CBA, ORACLE, CIPM, ACCA, CISA, CFA, SIX SIGMA, CCNA, ITIL, CIMA, CMI, CISM, Certified clinical medical assistant- CCMA etc 5. Try and get a better job by networking better and focusing on your job search 6. learn a skill that will enhance your productivity. 7. Learn a second language- French, Spanish, Chinese, German, Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa etc 8. Start another source of income to add to your day-job. Develop a part-time business that you develop after work and weekend 9. Work on other areas of your life - e,g hobbies, relationship lol 10. Start your website and start adding value to others, I can help you if you need my help - www.yourname.com No matter the outcome, be focus and know that MSc and Masters degrees does not guaranteed a better life, its what you do with what you know that matters. Its just 35 days to Christmas. The year has gone so fast. What did you accomplished in 2015? its not too late. you can still do something before 2015 goes into the history books. Do have a great day. Let me know your Plans B. C ya Dan O http://Unilaggoogle.com |

When God doesnt make sence www.nairaland.com/2738297/when-god-doesnt-make-sence |
Growing up I used to question God's ability & actions.. I couldnt find answers to why God just allow somethings to happen, I couldnt just solve the mystery, I did not understand why God had to take Pastor Mrs Bimbo Odukoya when she just started ministering to countless youths I did not also undetstand why God allowed my very good freind & mentor 'Wale' to die even when he was so faithful to God(and his works).. I am very inquistive and I question anything that doesnt seems right to me or I dont understand. A freind told me a true-life story of a young man who at his early age devoted his life to God; he wants to please God atall cost and do his bidding. He went to a theology school and thereafter went ahead to study medicine and became a certified medical doctor so he can administer health solutions to the disadvantage as he had pledge his life to missionary works in bringing the good news to countless souls. He abandoned his family & personal ambition and left for a very rural community in africa where there are lacks of health-care. Finally, he got to the community and within about 3days he had helped several people in getting rid of their chronic diseases and ran out of drugs so he decided to quiclky go to the nearest town to get more drugs but unfortunately he was involved in an auto fatal accident which claimed his life.(and yes no matter how fatal the accident, God can save him if he want). This was when people needed him most.. Also a story about a man of God who had brought restoration to people's home and family by prayers. But for about 25 years now of marriage he has no child of his own and yet God still keep using him to get anwers to people. These and many more examples keep making me ask questions as young boy about Gods love and ability.. There were the times 'when God doesnt make sence' atall..... But few years back, I cam across one of my very best book which gave answers to some of my questions; the book titled 'when God doesnt make sence' by Dr James Dobson. In the book Dr. Dobson made different scenerios of when you feel God doesnt make sence and the effect it has coupled with the un-seen you dont know thereafter I was able to understand from the book that we must first have a better idea of who God is and how he interact with us in four(4) specific areas: 1. God is present and involved in our lifes even when he seems deaf or an extended leave of absence. God is always there for us. Matt28v20, Prov18v24, Psalm 139v7-10. 2. Gods timing is perfect even when he appears castrophically late. Looking at the case of Lazarus death that Jesus didnt show up while he was sick not untill he died and yet it wasnt too late(John 11) Also looking at Manasseh in 2king21 who did so many bad things against God and yet God allowed him to live for 55years but Uzza just did a little mis-deed in 2Sam6v6 and died immediately, also Ananians & Sapphire. So God is just God and so owns none any explanation. 3. For reasons that are impossible to explain, we human beings are incredibly precious to God. God loves us so unconditionally. Even Job was wondering why he loved us so compassionately in Job7v17-18. David also acknowledge his love in Psalm8v4. The scripture also described him as our father In luke 11v13. Also psalm 103v13 showed how God loved us. Even Isiah 66v13 likened him to a mother. 4. Your arms are too short to box with God. Dont try it... God replied Job in Job 38v37. Always beleive that God simply wants the best for you though sometimes things may not go the way we wanted; God is simply making us in a corner. Never allow satan to use 'betrayal barrier' to win you away from God... More importantly dwell with the holy spirit, even before I came across this book(when God doesnt make sence); the holy spirit had been my interpreter and comforter anytime where it seems 'God doesnt make sence'. Make the holy spirit your daily conversational partner. Happy sunday |

A message to all mothers, potential mothers and fathers asswell www.nairaland.com/2707210/message-all-mothers-potential-mothers |
As I waited in the departure lounge of a local airport, I noticed there were many children about but it was understandable since it was summer holiday. One other thing I noticed was the way most of the children were dressed. Most of them, especially the girls, were dressed in bum shorts, halter necks, cut off jeans, etc. The clothes in themselves weren't the issue per se; it was the overall look of the children that had me bothered. That was definitely not the first time, I noticed it. A few months before, I had taken my kids to a birthday party and found myself in what could easily have been a night club for kids. Scanty clothing such as tight or very short clothes, bum shorts, long weaves, etc, seemed to be the dresscode. I noticed my daughter glancing around her, probably wondering, "What in God's world are these other children wearing?" Or something like that. Not long after, the kids were called out to dance to the hit songs of the season -these songs in my opinion should be rated PG 13. 4-6 year olds trooped to the dance floor, miming the sexually explicit songs and gyrating their bodies in the most sensual manner. They could have given Beyonce a run for her money. They ran their hands over their bodies, shook their booties hard while their parents cheered them on. The boys had their upper shirts unbuttoned and rapped along perfectly to gangsta raps while doing flawless break dance. Those who danced like actual children where shooed off the dance floor while the lewd ones were cheered on. As I watched, my child stared out of this circle looking longingly at the others dancing. I knew it was time to leave. As we left, we went to a eatery where I bought them ice cream and gently explained to them the concept of decency and dancing with decorum. Another time, at a game arcade for kids, I ran into a lady who had made-up her kids' faces like they were mannequins for Tara or Mac beauty products. Their skirts were so tight, that running up and down the slide was uncomfortable for them. So the question is, why are we sexualizing our kids? Why does your 4, 6 or 9 year old girl have to look like a chick? Why does she have to be hot or sexy? Should your 8 year old son go around with a comb in his hair and his pants sagged almost to his ankles? If your child wears bum shorts out of the house at age 3, why should she be expected to wear longer ones at 15? If she wears 2 rings and 12 bangles at 6, why won't she pierce a second ear hole at 17 and her bellybutton at 19? Why won't your son pierce his own ear at 15? Are you setting your children up to be immodest and indecent? What trend are you starting them on? That all these are fashionable or trendy doesn't mean it's ok. Some parents even dress their children like this to church. Church! What are you teaching the child? What happened to children wearing dresses to church? Children can look very nice and decent, they can be well covered and still look good. In this age, when children are being abused, is it wise to make your child an object of anyone's sexual attention? When I hear some children belt out sexually explicit lyrics, I ask myself how they became exposed to this songs! As a parent, you can't play the CD of such songs and not expect your children to pick them up; the same goes for watching Mtv Base, Channel O, etc with your children. Studies have shown that children exposed to a high level of sexually explicit information tend to become sexually active early. Is that your goal as a parent? Being a Parent involves sacrifice. You will need to avoid listening to such music where your children are. Most of those lyrics demean women and teach your daughter that she's just a intimacy gadget and her body is for squeezing. It teaches the boys that money is everything and women are things to be used to satisfy their primal urges. These music introduces them to a degrading pop culture. Our children have their lives ahead of them, let's set them on the right path by teaching them to dress decently and sing nice or age- appropriate songs. Let your children be children. Train up a child in the way that s/he should go and when s/he is old, s/he would not depart from it. Do you agree that children are unnecessarily exposed to sexually explicit elements? Is it possible that some parents are victims themselves or is it that they don't know any better?.... |

I guess its very real oooo... Presently there for d interview now so waiting for things to unfold |
Wow.... This is a serious issue and requires total yielding to the world of God... Now, please let's note something.. The bible makes us to understand that the evidence of 'presence of holy spirit' is speaking in tongues so speaking in tongues only confirms Gods spirit manifestation and also avail you the grace to operate in a higher dimension... My own personal experience: Giving my life to christ first was the first break-through I had in 2012 where every-thing about my life changed but yet I still struggled as a christian because I was so religious and was so conscious of sin itself(walking in my own flesh) not untill 10months later I received the baptism of the holy ghost and every-thing changed entirely. This is how I received the baptism of the holy ghost: have always been to church congregations where people were speaking in tongues but I was indifferent about. But soon I started studying acts of the apostles and I realized I needed the baptism of the holy spirit and finalized in my mind but don't know how. So on this faith-full day, I decided to call a freind just to ask him about preparation for his proposed NYSC service year then and while we were talking my freind paused and said the holy spirit minister to him now to ask me if am ready to receive the baptism of the holy ghost and at that moment my heart beat continuously with a pin-drop silence but immediately I said YES, something unusual happen: I began shouting, threw my phone away(my phone screen got broken), continuously rolling all-over the room and speaking in an unknown tongues with fire in my mouth that made me not to keep quiet.. I did this for about 3 straight hours untill my freinds came in and prayed along with me.... Since then, my life has never being the same.. I did so many things that ordinary with my own flesh I can't.. I began hearing vividly from God and most especially always feeling the strong cloud presence of God around me... And that's my greatest TESTIMONY. Now nairalanders, being a christian without the baptism of the holy ghost is struggling; though that does not say you won't be rapturable but that means as a christian with great arsenal at your disposal, you are only using tiny percentage of the weapons God had released to you... Why not fully activate you full potential as a christian. Thanks *pls don't mind my typos' |
